In Mary Ann's 33 years of life, she has faced anorexia, a near-death infection, institutional abuse, and the trauma of amputation, but she has found purpose in nourishing her body and sharing her testimony. Mary Ann has been carnivore since 2018 and rededicated her life to Jesus in 2022 during a hospital stay, and those two decisions have strengthened her physical body and saved her soul. Mary Ann grew up in a household run by two doctors who didn't allow her to eat red meat, and followed every "heart healthy" dietary lie being perpetrated by the government in the early nineties. She became fixated around her weight and food intake as a way of regaining control in a chaotic household and developed an eating disorder that only going carnivore could cure. In 2022, bacteria from a hot tub entered an open cut in her leg and the resulting infection caused her to go septic. Mary Ann lost half of her left foot, two fingers, and nearly her life. The doctors performed skin graft surgery to save her legs, but after three years the grafts failed and she lost her right leg below the knee right after Meatstock 2025 due to osteomyelitis. Mary Ann just received her prosthetic two weeks ago and is walking and driving - healing at lightning speed thanks to God and the healing power of meat! 1 Wine is a mocker and beer is a brawler. Whoever is led astray by them is not wise. 2 The terror of a king is like the roaring of a lion. He who provokes him to anger forfeits his own life. 3 It is an honor for a man to keep aloof from strife, but every fool will be quarreling. 4 The sluggard will not plow by reason of the winter; therefore he shall beg in harvest, and have nothing. 5 Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water, but a man of understanding will draw it out. 6 Many men claim to be men of unfailing love, but who can find a faithful man? 7 A righteous man walks in integrity. Blessed are his children after him. 8 A king who sits on the throne of judgment scatters away all evil with his eyes. 9 Who can say, "I have made my heart pure. I am clean and without sin?" 10 Differing weights and differing measures, both of them alike are an abomination to Yahweh. 11 Even a child makes himself known by his doings, whether his work is pure, and whether it is right. 12 The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, Yahweh has made even both of them. 13 Don't love sleep, lest you come to poverty. Open your eyes, and you shall be satisfied with bread. 14 "It's no good, it's no good," says the buyer; but when he is gone his way, then he boasts. 15 There is gold and abundance of rubies, but the lips of knowledge are a rare jewel. 16 Take the garment of one who puts up collateral for a stranger; and hold him in pledge for a wayward woman. 17 Fraudulent food is sweet to a man, but afterwards his mouth is filled with gravel. 18 Plans are established by advice; by wise guidance you wage war! 19 He who goes about as a tale-bearer reveals secrets; therefore don't keep company with him who opens wide his lips. 20 Whoever curses his father or his mother, his lamp shall be put out in blackness of darkness. 21 An inheritance quickly gained at the beginning won't be blessed in the end. 22 Don't say, "I will pay back evil." Wait for Yahweh, and he will save you. 23 Yahweh detests differing weights, and dishonest scales are not pleasing. 24 A man's steps are from Yahweh; how then can man understand his way? 25 It is a snare to a man to make a rash dedication, then later to consider his vows. 26 A wise king winnows out the wicked, and drives the threshing wheel over them. 27 The spirit of man is Yahweh's lamp, searching all his innermost parts. 28 Love and faithfulness keep the king safe. His throne is sustained by love. 29 The glory of young men is their strength. The splendor of old men is their gray hair. 30 Wounding blows cleanse away evil, and beatings purge the innermost parts. The battle of duelling responsibilities is unfolding before our eyes and I can't work out whether it will all end in tears. On one hand you've got the Local Government Minister off to Cabinet with his rates cap plan for councils. The average rate rise is almost 10%. Inflation isn't. It's not good enough. They are out of control and Wellington is going to do something about it. But then on the other hand we have Local Water Done Well, the new Government's replacement for Three Waters. You can buddy up with a group of councils and areas, or you can go it alone. For example, Gisborne District Council has decided to go it alone. Is that a good idea? Not according to Internal Affairs, who have written to them, having seen their plans. They have also written to five other councils with similar ideas and said to them that you don't seem to have the capacity and wherewithal to pull this off. So, what if they're right? What if they don't and the whole thing goes tits up? How is it a Central Government on one hand is setting the rules of engagement on rates for fear of things getting out of control, yet letting councils, who their own people are suggesting aren't up to it, loose on water infrastructure that may well end up putting them in the poor house? It's that complex, angsty line between freedom and control, local and central. Where is that line drawn? If you don't trust them on rates, is water so simple and cheap and easy that they should be fine? Then you get to the bit about voters and local democracy. Gisborne claim they've consulted and the community is behind them. That almost certainly isn't true, given the consultation would have involved the usual handful of those actually interested, as opposed to the majority who wont be remotely aware, or care, until of course it all goes wrong. At which point there is all hell to pay. So who is right? Central Government getting control of the out of control, or letting the out of control dabble elsewhere and going into it with a red flag? There seems a stark inconsistency in approach from Wellington because both approaches can't be right. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Too restrictive or a key part of a military families financial planning? Today's episode is a no-holds-barred discussion about the pros, cons, and real-life strategies behind 529 plans. Episode Summary: In this episode, Spencer and Jamie dive deep into the world of 529 college savings plans—a tax-advantaged tool designed to save for qualified education expenses. They explore the basics of how 529 plans work (after-tax contributions, tax-free growth, and penalty-free withdrawals on qualified education expenses) and highlight recent changes that expand their flexibility beyond just college tuition. The conversation unfolds as Spencer raises his skeptical questions, while Jamie defends the plan's benefits by sharing personal experiences and strategies. From multi-generational planning to overcoming the challenge of overfunding, the discussion covers everything you need to know to determine if a 529 plan fits into your family's financial strategy. Key Discussion Points & Takeaways: Understanding 529 Fundamentals: Contributions are made with after-tax dollars, but the account grows tax-free, and withdrawals for qualified expenses (college, K–12 tuition, apprenticeship programs, computer equipment, and internet access) remain tax-free. Jamie explains the flexibility and evolving nature of 529 plans, including options to roll over funds to a Roth IRA (subject to annual limits and other restrictions) if the money isn't immediately needed for education. Flexibility vs. Restriction: Spencer shares his concerns about the plan's restrictions and whether the benefits favor high-income families more than those who might truly need the tax advantages. Jamie counters by emphasizing that the primary goal is to ensure your child's educational expenses are covered, while also noting that any “overfunding” isn't a total loss—it comes with backup options like beneficiary changes and penalty adjustments if funds are withdrawn for non-qualified purposes. Practical Money Management: Real-life insights on how to balance your overall financial strategy: build a solid retirement plan, clear debt, and then contribute to a 529 plan once you've established your own financial security. Jamie outlines his personal approach, including how much he's contributed over the years and his strategy for managing contributions as his children get closer to college age. Discussion of exit strategies: potential rollovers, transferring balances between beneficiaries, and even using scholarship funds to unlock part of the 529 savings without penalties. Generational and Strategic Considerations: Beyond college savings, the episode explores whether 529 plans can serve as a mechanism for a multi-generational legacy—providing educational support for nieces, nephews, or future grandchildren. The balance between maximizing tax-free growth and maintaining account flexibility is a recurring theme, with both hosts stressing the importance of aligning a 529 plan with your broader financial plan. Actionable Insights for Listeners: Evaluate Your Priorities: Before you start pouring funds into a 529 plan, ensure you've taken care of high-priority items like debt repayment and retirement savings. Start Early: Open an account when your child is young. Even small, regular contributions can accumulate significantly over time. Customize According to Your Needs: Understand that the “perfect” plan isn't one-size-fits-all. Consider factors like potential state tax deductions, investment options (like Vanguard 529's low-cost index fund style), and your own financial situation. Plan for Flexibility: Keep in mind exit strategies (such as rollovers to Roth IRAs and changing beneficiaries) so that if your situation changes, you're not locked into funds you can't use as intended. We look at The CEO: The Rise and Fall of Britain's Captains of Industry, coming out in June 2025. See mor about the book here. The CEO: The Rise and Fall of Britain's Captains of Industry reviewed In many ways this book is a bit of a horror show in terms of management for British industries. The authors do a good job of taking us through a variety of types of leader. This is informative and well written, however the constant theme seems to be, regardless of their origin or training, they generally still ended up making either a real mess of it all, or at least not performing optimally. Sadly, as the authors also clearly point out, the only constant is the increasingly dizzy rise of the renumeration packages for this motley crew of incompetents. The approach seems to get ever shorter and shorter in terms of time frames and KPIs to aim for. To compensate for their likely impending dismissal, the renumeration packages are ever more ludicrous and higher and higher multiples of the average working person's salary. This book is well written and researched, but it also became ever more depressing as you were reminded of the growing rogues gallery of poorly performing, but increasingly well paid CEOs that have had to be endured in many British companies. It is a challenging time when competence, ability or ethical integrity seem to be less and less in demand for leading companies or even countries. Here's hoping that this book helps to at least raise the level of debate even while we have to endure as series of self serving leaders. More about the authors Michael Aldous is a business historian and Senior Lecturer at Queen's Business School, Queen's University Belfast. He is a founder and co-director of the Long Run Institute (LRI), which uses historical analysis to help senior executives and policy makers make better decisions. John D. Turner is Professor of Finance and Financial History, Queen's Business School, Queen's University Belfast, and a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences. His previous Cambridge University Press book Boom and Bust: A Global History of Financial Bubbles (2021) was named an Economics Book of the Year by the Financial Times. More about The CEO After analysing 1500 CEOs, what does a good one look like? High cognitive ability; strong organisational and interpersonal skills; clear values and personal purpose; has judgement from career and life experience (so aged 50 or over) History reveals why CEOs are fat cats this study of Britain's corporate history reveals that corporate fat cats emerged because of the emasculation of private sector trade unions and changing social norms about pay inequality. We need CEOs need to move slow and build things (not move fast and break things) By the 1970s, CEOs began getting sacked in ever greater numbers. By this century, over 40% of CEOs were dismissed either for poor performance or because their companies were taken over; tenures fell too from an average of 10 years to under six. The trend of CEOs spending much less time in the role can be traced back to deregulation and privatization policies (of Thatcher era) but also to the financialization of companies and the wider economy. So, how can CEOs make meaningful change? Who makes it to the top? Differing pathways influenced how CEOs historically operated and are perceived. They have been (in historical order): Aristocratic amateurs; Families and founders; Managers; Technocrats It was not until 1997 that Marjorie Scardino became the first woman and also the first mother to become CEO of a FTSE 100 company. Across the century, women have worked to overturn deeply embedded social and cultural stereotypes. Back at the beginning of the twentieth century, even though women made up nearly half of the shareholders in some companies, shareholder voting registers simply de-platformed them from the list of those shareholders who held the qualifying number of shares to almost automatically stand as a director. Being a director was,...

Moses Williams is an 18-year-old Social/Self-Pres 5w6 who is also on the autism spectrum. Moses describes growing up feeling that adults were hiding the truth, that essential information was missing, and that everyone else somehow knew how to be human in a way he didn't. We talk about his often obsessive fascination with taboo topics—pornography, sexual deviance, violence—not to provoke, but to answer the horrifying question: “Am I stupid for not knowing this already?” He recounts a personal collapse that left him with three options: become a sanitized version of himself, disappear entirely, or dismantle and reform collective assumptions entirely. This conversation also explores intellectual separatism, the pressure to adapt to norms that feel senseless, and the slow, reluctant emergence of a heart that wants something real. This episode contains references to pornography, sexual deviance, and suicide. Listener discretion advised. Artists create, podcast, and destroy. Welcome back to the podcast where today we're going to be talking about Immortality. Immortality is a game from Sam Barlow, creator of Her Story and Telling Lies and it follows in the same tradition as those games. Largely player-directed, the game involves watching clips of three films and footage associated with them in order to gain an understanding of what happened to the people involved. There is a set point at which the game shows you its credits, but whether you feel done at that point is largely up to you. Differing from the previous games, rather than inputting text to find clips, you click on elements in scenes to cut between them, following actors or props or other elements to see new things, and you can control the speed of playback and even play in reverse. Your understanding of these mechanics and how the internal logic of the match cuts works really determine what kind of agency you can exercise in solving the mysteries, so your milage may vary depending on how much you liked the core loop of Her Story in comparison to this one. Even so, the technical prowess on display here is still incredible, with a surprising dedication to capturing the feel of the eras of film each of the game's three movies represent and performances that don't feel like an imitation so much as part of film canon themselves. We're going to be talking about the feeling of playing Immortality as compared to other games, the surprising directions the narrative takes and how it differed from our own interpretations, and in a spiritual successor to Haunting Those ROMs, we discuss what may be haunting THIS footage. Thank you for joining us again this week! Immortality has been on the list for a while because we have a particular soft spot for Her Story and how different that game felt to anything else, and while this is more refinement than innovation, it's still a really impressive title and would probably give you a similar feeling to us if it is the first of Sam Barlow's games you've played. Did you pick up on the game's secrets? Did you struggle to rewind because you were playing with a mouse? Let us know in the comments or over on our Discord! Next time, we're going to be talking about Monster Hunter Wilds, so I hope you join us then and that you have some free time in the coming weeks.
Differing opinions can be annoying, but they're also an opportunity to learn and understand.
The development of Intelligent Connected Vehicles (ICVs) and Autonomous Vehicles (AVs) represents a pivotal technological and economic frontier. China and the United States are vying for supremacy in this sector which could define global leadership in the next few decades. As these technologies advance, they carry concerns for road safety, personal data protection, and ethics. Differing regulatory environments, cybersecurity issues, and technology decoupling efforts create divergent innovation priorities and processes between the two countries. On March 6, 2025, Rui Ma and Lei Xing joined Peilei Fan to explore the state of ICV/AV technologies in both the United States and China, as well as areas of competition and potential collaboration. This episode is brought to you by Cozy Earth, Manukora Honey, and Aqua Tru. Political and social discussions have become increasingly divisive today, often leaving little room for nuance or open dialogue. Differing viewpoints are frequently shut down, met with hostility, or dismissed outright, despite the fact that real growth comes from curiosity and engaging with opposing perspectives. Today's guest joins us to explore the courage it takes to question our beliefs, understand where they come from, and embrace complexity in a world that often demands rigid certainty. Today on The Dhru Purohit Show, Dhru sits down with cultural commentator Kaizen Asiedu to explore the importance of understanding our beliefs, where they come from, and the courage it takes to question them. Kaizen shares his personal journey of challenging lifelong beliefs and embracing alternative perspectives. He also discusses how this willingness to question ideas is often missing in today's political climate, where fear of dissent has led to tribalism and dehumanization. Additionally, he shares his insights on the MAHA movement, health and wellness discussions, and the concept of antifragility. Kaizen Asiedu is a cultural commentator dedicated to empowering people by simplifying complex political and social issues into messages that leave listeners informed and appreciative of nuance. After earning a philosophy degree from Harvard, he entered the gaming industry, ultimately becoming Head of Global Esports Events at Riot Games. While leading the League of Legends World Championship and winning an Emmy, he felt a growing restlessness—a desire for a deeper, more personal purpose. Today, he helps high achievers who feel burnt out or lost transition from unfulfilling careers to meaningful work, whether as entrepreneurs or in roles that excite them as much as playing their favorite game or reading a beloved book. In this episode, Dhru and Kaizen dive into: Recognizing that you are in the “Matrix” of living a life expected of you (00:00:25) The ideas Kaizen was called to question (2:50) Fear-based conditioning and morality (7:40) RFK's confirmation hearing and steelmanning concerns about his positions (20:20) The discouragement of open conversations and the rise of cancel culture (30:10) The rejection of humanity and the divisions it has caused (40:36) Red flags that indicate we are stuck in tribalism (44:36) Kaizen's views that diverge from the current administration (47:46) Kaizen's personal journey and the significance of "kaizen" in Japanese culture (54:16) The role of psychedelics, mindfulness, and shifting belief systems (58:56) Engaging with people as they are in the present moment (01:07:46) The intersection of lifestyle choices and systemic issues (01:14:46) Respecting alternative viewpoints, embracing different perspectives, and the concept of antifragility (01:19:16) Final thoughts (01:34:46) For more on Kaizen, follow him on Instagram, X/Twitter, TikTok, and YouTube.
