C-Let's Dance van de Beemd– Laura Collett's young star rounds out the list after producing the best CCI3* score of 2024 with a 20.5 at Cornbury. With a mix of speed, consistency, and serious potential, these horses are set to make waves in 2025. Mary Bess Davis is the trainer and owner of the world-class equestrian facility, Triple Creek Eventing, located in Mansfield, Georgia. Mary Bess grew up in an equestrian family and from a young age participated in fox hunting, vaulting, pony club, and hunters. She graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in biology, all while building her training, selling, and coaching business at Triple Creek Farm. Mary Bess has produced multiple horses through the Advanced level and has had young riders compete at NAYRC winning gold, silver, and bronze team and individual medals for the CCI2* and CCI3* levels. With her horse, Imperio Magic, also known as McColl, Mary Bess finished 19th out of 95 and helped Team USA win silver at the 2024 FEI Eventing Nation's Cup in Boekelo. Mary Bess has a passion for bringing horses and students up the levels and aims to compete at the 5* level in the coming year. De 53ste editie van de Military Boekelo zit er weer op. Na vier dagen top competitie met dressuur, de cross country en het springen, kan er natuurlijk maar één winnaar zijn. De Duitse Julia Krajewski, die in Tokio de allereerste vrouwelijke olympische eventing kampioen werd, won voor de tweede keer in Boekelo. Op de slotdag, bij het springen, bleef ze foutloos en sprong daarmee van de derde naar de eerste plek. We blikten erop terug met hippisch journalist en fotograaf Jacob Melissen. Toen Bert Deliën in 1995 begon als directeur/bestuurder bij Humanitas Onder Dak was zijn doel om de organisatie overbodig te te maken. Dat is niet gelukt. Daklozen zijn er nog altijd in Twente, maar de in Boekelo woonachtige Deliën heeft het wel voor elkaar gekregen dat er anders naar dakloosheid werd gekeken. Sydney Elliott made her debut at the CCI5*-L level in 2016 when she completed the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event with Cisko A. The pair went on to represent the U.S. on the Nations Cup Team at Great Meadow International in 2018 and had top-ten finishes in multiple CCI4*'s in the US that same year. With QC Diamantaire, Sydney represented the U.S. Eventing Team at two FEI Nations Cups, the CCIO4*-S at CHIO Aachen in 2022 and the CCIO4*-L at Boekelo in 2021, where they finished fifth individually and led the U.S. team to a silver medal. Sydney and QC Diamantaire also had multiple top-10 finishes at CCI4*'s in 2019, 2020, and 2021 and competed in the 2021 Land Rover Kentucky Three-Day Event CCI5*-L. Om te zorgen dat de geschiedenis niet verloren gaat, brengt Stichting Historische Sociëteit Enschede en Lonneker een nieuwe boekenreeks uit over alle boerderijen die ooit in en rond Enschede hebben gestaan.Morgen wordt het vierde deel uitgebracht, die het verhaal vertelt van 128 boerderijen in de omgeving Boekelo.

Niet alleen verdedigde Janneke Boonzaaijer succesvol haar nationale titel bij het eventing, de Fransman Nicolas Touzaint pakte zijn tweede eindzege nadat hij het event zeventien jaar geleden ook al eens op zijn naam zette. Vanaf 5 oktober staat één van de grootste paardensportevenementen van Nederland weer op het programma. In Enschede maken we ons op voor alweer de 52ste editie van de Military Boekelo. De internationale eventing top belooft er weer een hoop spektakel van te maken. We blikten erop vooruit met Jacob Melissen van de Military Boekelo. Presentatie: Daan Prins

FC Twente-speler Michal Sadílek kreeg vorig seizoen last van gesuis in zijn rechteroor en sindsdien is zijn leven drastisch veranderd. De Tsjech reisde af naar Tsjechië, waar zijn osteopaat zei dat hij in zijn nieren een shock had opgelopen, waardoor zijn hele systeem was overbelast. Heel even ging het beter, maar twee dagen later kreeg hij een raar gevoel in zijn hoofd. Pieptonen, duizelingen. Als hij ging liggen, kwam de wereld op hem af. Mensen die last hebben van oorsuizen, ook wel tinnitus genoemd, horen geluiden die er in werkelijkheid niet zijn. Sadílek bezocht tijdens zijn blessure meerdere wedstrijden van FC Twente om te kijken welk effect dat op hem zou hebben, maar de reactie was slecht. De linkspoot had veel hoofdpijn en elk geluid was pijnlijk. Het was zelfs zo erg dat hij zou hebben overwogen om te stoppen. Via FC Twente-teamarts Sanne Hesselink kwam hij in Boekelo terecht, bij de Tinnitus Academie. Een intensief traject volgde en na maanden zonder wedstrijden is hij dit kalenderjaar teruggekeerd met een rugzak aan verhalen.

Woensdag 16 maart stond voornamelijk in het teken van de gemeenteraadsverkiezingen, maar in Boekelo was er op die dag nog een andere verkiezing. Het dorp mocht namelijk stemmen voor hun eigen dorpsraad. En dat deed het ook, massaal. De opkomst voor de dorpsraadverkiezingen lag rond de 80 (!) procent. Opmerkelijk: dit is zelfs nog 10% hoger dan de opkomst voor de gemeenteraadsverkiezingen in Boekelo. Hoe dat kan bespreken we met de hagelnieuwe voorzitter van de Boekelose dorpsraad: André de Boer.

As Boekelo is underway we thought we would revisit the review show from 2017, the battle of the Tims. Nicole, Jenni and Diarm rehash an epic week at wild and crazy Boekelo, which certainly lived up to the hype. It was a Battle of the Tims as Dutch favourite Tim Lips faced off with Tim Price for the win. While the Kiwi took first prize, the other Tim claimed the Dutch National Championship and the hearts of many in a class performance on home soil.

Dorpsraad Boekelo, Vereniging Behoud Twekkelo, Buurtkring Usselo en de gemeente Enschede hebben een intentieverklaring getekend: bewoners gaan profiteren van de plannen rond hernieuwbare energie en die plannen worden gezamenlijk gesmeed. Da's, na jaren van verwoede discussies, een andere toon. Is het ook een doorbraak? We vragen het aan Jeroen Verhaak, voorzitter van de dorpsraad Boekelo.

Inwoners van Enschede West, Usselo en Boekelo vragen met een petitie aandacht voor hun bezwaren tegen windmolenjoekels in hun omgeving. Twee en half keer de Alphatoren – da's inderdaad best hoog... In vier dagen tijd haalden ze achthonderd tegen-handtekeningen op. BurgerBelangen-raadslid Barry Overink stelde er vragen over aan het college.

Ten Voorde's passion for motorsport was ignited early in life. From the age of eight, he spent every spare moment with friends at the go-kart track in Emsbüren, in Lower Saxony. His father Henk drove him there in the morning, and in the evening he returned to his home, the 2,500-strong community of Boekelo near Enschede. From 2007 to 2012, he won eight titles in various karting series. Ten Voorde then switched to single-seater racing with support from the Dutch motorsport association KNAF. Alongside today's Formula 1 driver Max Verstappen, he was part of the “Talent First” squad, and at the same time completed a degree in sports and business communication. Ten Voorde‘s special connection to motor racing was put to the test during the most difficult phase in his career. In 2014 and 2015, financial reasons prevented him from competing. His budding career was in jeopardy, but throwing in the towel was simply not an option. At the Circuit Zandvoort, he cleaned cars, polished rims or sold coffee. He turned laps on the track in his old 1998 VW Polo and he maintained contact to companies and teams through his coaching activities. The effort paid off: In 2016, he made an impressive comeback, promptly winning the Porsche Super Sports Cup at his first attempt. The following year, he took home the rookie title in the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland. This season yielded the next milestones: champion in both the Carrera Cup and the international Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup. The talented youngster is well on his way to turning his passion into a professional career. Last season he made his WEC debut in the ca. 510 hp Porsche 911 RSR. Contesting the GTE-Am class, ten Voorde celebrated a victory at Bahrain on the back of clinching second place in Shanghai. He also contested this year's 24 Hours of Le Mans. His next mission: he is poised to tackle the final round of the 2019/2020 World Endurance Championship on 14 November for Project 1. With the Carrera Cup title under his belt, Larry ten Voorde is ready for the next big success.

With Sam off on official EquiRatings business, Nicole, Jenni and Diarm rehash an epic week at wild and crazy Boekelo, which certainly lived up to the hype. It was a Battle of the Tims as Dutch favorite Tim Lips faced off with Tim Price for the win. While the Kiwi took first prize, the other Tim claimed the Dutch National Championship and the hearts of many in a class performance on home soil. And there were many more performances to celebrate, like Liz Halliday-Sharp and the exciting 9-year-old Deniro Z leading the way for Team USA in his CCI3* debut. Chris Burton proved once again that he is the undisputed speed king as the only rider in the field to make the time aboard Cooley Lands. And, of course, Diarm can't let the girls forget that he picked Cekatinka to win.

We have a full and very excited team this week as Sam, Diarm, Nicole and Jenni all prepare to head to Boekelo for the biggest CCI3* of the year ... if Nicole doesn't get lost while navigating the Dutch train system. Jenni surprises everyone with a pop quiz on Boekelo history that goes completely sideways, and everyone has a different opinion on who will win. Sam sticks with the numbers in making his picks, which Diarm thinks is the easy way out. Nicole and Jenni are both cheering for Australia to take their first win in event history, though there are literal dark horses and invaders from the USA prepared to challenge.
