In this episode titled “Finding Frenchie," we revisit the origins of this project and pay tribute to many of the families who graciously shared stories and memorabilia about their Frenchie WWII veterans. This project has had many influences over the years, perhaps none more important than a feature story written by George Morris in the Baton Rouge Advocate in Nov. 2019 titled “Cajun Frenchies helped to win the war.” That newspaper story was a catalyst for re-launching this Frenchie project, which 5-years later turned into a book, titled Frenchie: The Story of the French-Speaking Cajuns of WWII published in Sept. 2024 by UL Press.

George Morris is a Certified Scaling Up Coach and lifelong entrepreneur. He found his success running his digital agency, Imulus. Co-Founded TEDxBoulder, is a Techstars Alumni and former President of the Entrepreneur Organization, Colorado Chapter.
On this episode of the Scouting For Growth podcast, Sabine VdL talks to George Morris, a lifelong entrepreneur and business coach who has not only weathered the storms of the entrepreneurial journey but has emerged as a guiding light for others on their path to success. KEY TAKEAWAYS My biggest mistake was abdicating responsibility when I should have delegated responsibility. Towards the later stage of one of my companies I was going through a divorce. I thought that everything was good & didn't see myself as integral in the company anymore, so I turned everything over to my business development lead & the team while I checked out to deal with my personal problems. About 18 months later I didn't know what decisions had been made & what direction the company had gone. I couldn't blame them, I was accountable. I should have taken the time to delegate and clarify all the things that needed to be done and check in on people. If I come across an owner or CEO that's frustrated or overwhelmed, I have them create 3 columns: Love, Loathe, Indifferent. I get them to write down everything about their business into these columns and get them to focus on the ‘indifferent column to figure out how committed they are to do these things to help the organisation and get them to get help for the things they aren't committed to so they get done. Startups tend to want to look for unicorns, the person who is an expert in a particular skillset, hiring for talent rather than fit – the ability to trust or even have conflict with each other. All these talented individuals butt heads, don't see eye-to-eye, aren't committed to the same outcomes. For me it's a bout the team, getting the right people in the right seats and getting things right. This is the first things companies should do. I am equally as excited about AI as I am terrified of it. It's going to impact every single job in the next few years. To what degree, I don't really know, but if we can get to a point of AGI (artificial general intelligence) that will be game-changing because it will be very human-like. It's tool that we need to incorporate, bring into our skillset and adapt to it but right now we can't quite see where it's going to go, in terms of strategy & how it's going to impact our companies. But, it would be remiss of us to ignore it. BEST MOMENTS‘I go into companies and give them a framework to work with that they adapt & make their own & we build it from there so that they have a system that they can run on.'‘Richard Branson is very good at figuring out what he's great at, delegating everything else & letting people do what they can go do, he doesn't seem like a micro-managing leader.'‘Make sure you're developing the rich culture in your team & getting the right ethos in your culture.'‘I use AI to help teams accelerate different elements within their companies.' Alysha Daniels began her broadcast career right out of high school, training at the then New School of Contemporary Radio, coincidentally she was taught by WGY's Mike Patrick. She did time as a traffic reporter, including doing reports from an airplane for WGY. After a few years out of the business, she took a refresher course at the New School and got a job at WGY as a news anchor.Tracy Villaume also got into radio courtesy of the New School. Tracy covered stories for WGY including Donald Trump's 2016 rally in Albany. Along with a part time television job, Tracy eventually went on to cohost at our sister station, 99.5 The River.George Morris put ten years in on WGY shortly after graduating from Marist College, and he did pretty much everything at WGY. George initially did weekends and fill ins (gaining what we call the Joe Gallagher experience), was a Producer for Chuck and Kelly, and fill in for Chuck and Kelly, a street reporter, and ended up as anchor on the WGY Morning Show.
hi guys and welcome back to the mystery and comedy Old Time radio podcast. please welcome to the show this afternoon to chill our spines the first woman to appear behind the microphone Miss Lauren Tuttle. Miss turtle started her career in 1936 appearing behind the microphone with Mr Orson Welles and Hollywood hotels she also appeared on many shows such as Ozzy and Harriet Nelson, the Red Skelton show, lux radio theater, suspense and many others. but what a lot of people may not know is that Miss Tuttle also appeared on the big screen her career have finally reached its peak in 1960 appearing on two films of that era on Alfred Hitchcock's horror classic psycho co-starring with Mr Anthony Perkins. and in the 1960s Mafia crime movie ma Barker and her gang starring as ma Barker herself. Miss Tuttle enjoyed her career which expanded 35 years until passing away in 1986. even though Miss Tuttle has been gone these past 35 years her memory and legacy will live on forever in the many movie and television shows she appeared on. but today we bring Miss Tuttle the first woman behind the microphone to chill our spines. in this first episode she plays a woman named Kathy has been married to a man for many years but ends up falling for another man one day her husband who she is married to now Allen laughs and scoffs at her when she tells him she is leaving him for another man he ends up laughing so much that he tells her go ahead and leave me but you'll come back so when her husband leaves for work she ends up planning a scheme in her mind to get revenge on her previous husband Allen by blaming his murder on her current husband George. George Morris is a well-known city council person in the town and tells his wife Kathy that she needs to be careful because there's a lot of gossip going around town with the women at the hair salon place but Kathy pays no attention to her husband's warnings and ends up seeing her former husband Allen behind his back but she is not cheating on him she's wanting Alan to paint a portrait of herself that he can put in City Hall and she knows that her ex-husband is the only one that can paint in the whole town and make it portrait the way she wants it. but once the details of her ex-husbands day unravel before her ears she has a plan set in motion. one day she tells her husband that a man is in their backyard trying to break in then her husband George ends up telling her that he's going to put security out there but she is reluctant and he does not do it until one night. Kathy ends up escaping the house and goes to the apartment building where her ex-husband Alan knows and the details of her crime become well-known who has set an officer outside her house because of the prowler lurking around their home. and it is called like let george do it. and in this next episode we find this a young woman name Francis who works in cabin inn for her stepfather is having for many years her mother is gone and her stepfather is the only one that cares but she has grown to resent her stepfather and ends up wanting him to leave her alone and let her live her life but unfortunately for her stepfather can't do that until she is 21 years of age so the young girl ends up thinking the only way to end this madness is by ending her stepfather's life so she ends up killing her stepfather and end up trying to go across country to escape her guilt but unfortunately for the young woman her guilt ends up catching up with her when a criminal from another state and a well-known doctor in the city find the man who has been murdered the doctor ends up telling me the radio station in the radio station relays the message throughout the whole town.she goes to another town and finds a burger joint and ends up stopping there but then her past ends up catching up with her yet again so she's on the run again until her crime ends up catching up with her. and it is called the highway escape. This is the story of someone who was once thought of as the greatest horseman perhaps in the history of the horse. His blunt sayings and his tough to please demeanor made him a legend in almost every barn in America. This is the story of a man who was always a narcissist, a bully, an abuser of both animals and people and a reckless social climber. This is the story of George H. Morris. George Morris is a 74-year-old chemist and natural health advocate who has been promoting Early Disease Detection for over 40 years. He believes a loss of subtle energy information from the cracks in our health foundation eventually lead to our poor health and loss of vitality. He has recently created a Three Step Longevity Resent Program. This is not another simple wellness activity to fit into a busy schedule. He enlist your “Vital Force” to support change and monitors your progress with FDA approved laboratory tests. Prior to 2000 he founded Alpha Diagnostic Research, Inc. and Clinical Laboratory Development Group, Inc. Unfortunately, early disease detection was not popular then. He enjoys sharing with others the hidden truths about personalized healthcare. The COVID-19 experience has given him the opportunity to flip his testing from early disease detection to monitoring clients who want to go from “Normal” to “Longevity.”
In this episode, Cheryl and George Morris discuss: Leadership is everything The journey to success Belief plus discipline Being your very best Key Takeaways: The world doesn't need more sales-people, the world needs more good leaders. In earning a million dollars, it's not about the money, it's about the kind of person you become in pursuit of that goal. The journey towards success will require you to make changes that make your self better. Do everything it takes to whole-heartedly believe that you are the best for the job, wrap that up in discipline and you're good to go. Don't compare yourself to what others have done. Compare what you have done only to what you could have done. Race against yourself. “I would try to shout it, scream it, penetrate it into my subconscious or my soul that I am the best agent for the job. And I had to believe that I was the best because - what am I gonna do? Walk into homes and say ‘just so you know, I'm the third best agent'... Inspired By Horses ~ Jonathan Field Jonathan at Horsemen's Re-Union On today's show we have a terrific trainer and horseman Jonathan Field. I first met Jonathan at Horsemen's Re-Union in Paso Robles last year. He was starting colts and one look at easy, smooth moves in the round pen and you knew he was relating to theses young horses. His story is quite inspirational. While a young man working in Canada, Jonathan suffered an industrial accident that nearly amputated his hand. He recovered and was drawn back into the world of horses. Yes, you could say he was truly inspired by horses. Jonathan has studied under some of the greats in the horse world including George Morris and Pat Parelli. He has developed his own style and program of horsemanship he calls Inspired by Horses. Jonathan has performed at Road to The Horse, has presented many times at Western States Horse Expo. He headlines at horse shows and expositions all across Canada including The Mane Event and even produces his own equine conference called Jonathan Field and Friends. Jonathan has used his Inspired by Horses philosophy to write a book, The Art of Liberty Training. And he has also produced The Foundation for Excellence JUMPING with George Morris. All this in addition to his own DVD training series. Today we talk about his life and how he got inspired by horses. We also talk about a few "real life" training issues I'm having. Jonathan offers some great advice and I am already seeing results!
