Break 1: KIA MOG (07.14.22 KIA MOG) STORY 1: Gwinnett Suing State and Legislators To Stop City Of Mulberry's Formation The new city of Mulberry is embroiled in a legal battle with Gwinnett County over its right to exist. Despite voters approving Mulberry's creation in May, the county is suing to halt its establishment, claiming the referendum misled voters by promising no city property taxes. The county argues this violates the Georgia Constitution, as cities must have the power to levy taxes. The lawsuit also challenges provisions in Mulberry's charter regarding service provision and zoning. Despite previous failed attempts to stop Mulberry, county officials continue their legal fight, while Mulberry's supporters defend the city's charter and its legality. STORY 2: New course in GGC's School of Education highlights social emotional learning At Georgia Gwinnett College, the School of Education has introduced a new course on social emotional learning (SEL) to enhance future teachers' impact in the classroom. This one-credit course covers SEL competencies like self-awareness, self-management, and responsible decision-making, equipping teachers with skills to help students communicate and manage emotions effectively. Dr. Kinga Varga-Dobai highlights the course's role in preparing teachers for diverse learning environments and preventing bullying. Students like Stephanie Waddell and Chasiti Wade find the course beneficial for managing stress and understanding student needs, fostering a supportive classroom environment. STORY 3: Georgia Tech Rewards Archer Grad Chad Alexander with Scholarship Georgia Tech's football coaches awarded a scholarship to Chad Alexander, a sophomore running back and Archer High School graduate, during practice on Tuesday. As a true freshman walk-on last season, Alexander played in nine games, primarily on special teams, making three tackles and recovering a fumble. This season, he's contributed as a running back with 26 carries for 141 yards, including notable performances against Florida State and Duke. Originally committed to Army, Alexander switched to Georgia Tech, where he's now making a significant impact. We have opportunities for sponsors to get great engagement on these shows. Gibson was last seen on August 24th and has not contacted her mother since, which is unusual for her. She is described as 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighing around 140 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. Anyone with information is urged to contact GCPD detectives at 770-513-5300. STORY 5: GCPS Foundation Receives State Award The Gwinnett County Public Schools Foundation has been named the 2024 GSCA Business Partner of the Year by the Georgia School Counselor Association. This award highlights the Foundation's support for school counseling programs and dedication to student success in college and careers. The Foundation collaborates with community partners to provide scholarships and organize service events. Senior Executive Director Aaron Lupuloff praised team members Daniele Aurandt, Emilie Killebrew, and Kelly Herndon Patterson for their contributions. Chad literally hosts his podcast 3 blocks away from our location called 'The Local Bar' which you can find on all major podcast streaming outlets, and he's quite an interesting guy when you actually get to sit down, crack open some beers, and have a chat. On this episode we talk about everything from the bands billy hates, disgusting sour beers, our stupid president, and the opioid crisis. Buckle your seatbelt if your easily offended...or leave it off so you can do us all a favor and just crash through the windshield.

A return to the throne for Mr. Chad Alexander. He always has a captains chair at the riot house. Chad is a phenomenal podcaster and is way more better than us at delivering subject matter. He ran a great podcast called "The Local Bar" which was up lifting and did wonders for the community, and was stopped in relation to cancel culture. Chad and his wife also run another podcast together called "Welding a Family" which you can still find out there on all streaming outlets for your favorite podcasts. Chad has a lot to say about cancel culture, the election, music, and as promised he brought some hate mail with him to spice things up a bit. We also had Charlie Mclinden sit in with us to help carry along some good conversation, and his microphone started going bonkers...So have fun listening to that. Charlie is one of the smartest, funniest, talented turds on the planet, and we always enjoy being around the guy. So all around this podcast was a blast to do. Oh yeah...Don't forget to VOTE for Dereck Poop!
