The Lord also blessed me with a strong passion and creative eye for storytelling and videography that I now get to use for His glory as the marketing coordinator in FCA Idaho! I could not be more excited to tell the awesome and inspiring stories of what God is doing in and through the ministry. I can't wait to further His kingdom using my gifts and abilities to be a loudspeaker for both FCA and the Gospel. Our world is dominated by so many voices in the media fighting for our eyes and ears and, especially, the attention of our children. But in faith and through the power of the Holy Spirit, I can use my camera to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ; the greatest and most important story in all of humanity. Rescue Society, Not Yacht Club: Sustaining Your YesScripture References: Matthew 20:1-28Sermon Intro: Welcome! Today, reflecting on our church's journey and recent powerful baptisms, we dive into the heart of our mission – not just beholding Jesus, but the "so that" part: seeing the lost found, prodigals return, disciples made, and churches planted. As we look to the future, the crucial question isn't just what we'll do, but how we'll sustain it. How do we avoid "mission creep"? How do we ensure we remain a dynamic "rescue society" and don't slowly drift into becoming a comfortable "yacht club," forgetting why we started? How do we sustain a life of sacrifice and service for decades to come?Key Points:Beware the Yacht Club - What Do You Deserve? (Matt 20:1-16):The Parable of the Vineyard Workers challenges our sense of fairness. Service can breed entitlement ("I worked longer, I deserve more").We must fight this by remembering GRACE. As Christians, we gave up demanding "fair" – we don't want what we truly deserve!Sustaining service means constantly battling entitlement and remembering God's generosity, even when it doesn't seem "fair" by worldly standards. We never deserve more than the privilege of serving God and others.Fuel for the Long Haul - How Do You See God? (Matt 20:17-19):Jesus predicts His own suffering and sacrifice for us.To sustain our service, we must stay connected to how He serves us. Is your focus primarily on what you do for God, or on what He has done and continues to do for you?Remembering His sacrifice, His carrying the burden, His constant work on our behalf is the fuel for sustained missions.Kingdom Values - How Do You Define Greatness? (Matt 20:20-28):The request of Zebedee's sons highlights a worldly definition of greatness (position, power).Jesus redefines greatness: it's service, humility, being last, being a slave. It's "momness."Sustaining our "yes" requires embracing His definition of greatness. Any position or influence is for serving, not being served. Servant leadership isn't an option; it's the only model.Sermon Conclusion: We are committed to remaining a rescue society. This requires actively fighting the drift towards comfort and entitlement. We do this not by trying harder, but by remembering: remembering the grace we didn't deserve, remembering Jesus' immense sacrifice for us (suffering outside the gate to rescue us), and embracing His upside-down definition of greatness. Let's keep going out on rescue missions together.Call to Action: Examine your heart:Where might entitlement be creeping in regarding your service? Ask God to help you see through the lens of grace.Reflect on how Jesus serves you daily. Let gratitude fuel your service. Are you pursuing worldly greatness or Kingdom greatness (service)? Recommit today to being part of the rescue society, choosing sustained sacrifice over comfort, fueled by the love and grace of Jesus. Grace is like a coin. It has two sides. It is both something to be received, and something to be extended. The two are connected, but one is generally easier than the other. The challenge with grace is that God wants to so overwhelm you with the reality of his grace toward you that you find it almost impossible not to extend that same grace to the graceless relationships in your life.

In this powerful message, Pastor Karl dives into Romans chapter 11, exploring God's cosmic plan to save anyone who desires salvation. He unpacks the heartbeat of Romans: God's unstoppable mission to redeem sinners by grace through faith and our response of worship and service. Focusing on the Greek word "sozo" (salvation), Pastor Karl traces God's saving work through Israel's past, present, and future, showing how His promises to Israel shape His promises to us as Gentiles. He emphasizes that God uses us to make His chosen people jealous, drawing them back to Him, while warning against pride and anti-Semitism in today's world. With passion and clarity, Pastor Karl calls us to humility, readiness to share our hope, and active participation in God's global plan through church planting and proclaiming the Word. Discover how you're part of this divine story—and why grace is greater than disobedience.Watch all our sermons on our youtube channel "Flipside Christian Church"Join us in person 9:00am & 10:30am every Sunday morning.37193 Ave 12 #3h, Madera, CA 93636For more visit us at flipside.churchFor more podcasts visit flipsidepodcasts.transistor.fm

mhawks@fca.orgAs an athlete from a small town in VA, Mikel understands how easy it can be to find your identity in sports. Sports left his life in early college and he asked, “Who am I now?” Thankfully, a group of young men came alongside him in a discipleship journey where they did life in a circle. Their love for him and investment in him lead him to attend an FCA Camp in 2014 where he finally saw that his true identity and sonship was in Christ alone. Since then he has been passionate about doing the same for others through local church leadership, creative outlets and storytelling. In Week 3 of the "Jesus' Church" series, we focus on Jesus' response to the Pharisees in Matthew 22:34-40, where He identifies the greatest commandment: to love God with all your heart, soul, and mind, and the second, to love your neighbor as yourself. This message highlights the foundation of the Church's mission and purpose—rooted in love for God and love for others. Learn how these two commandments summarize all of Scripture and how they direct us to live as Jesus' Church, embodying His love in our relationships and communities. For more information about Integrity Church, visit our website, http://liveintegritychurch.org Connect with us on social media throughout the week to stay up to date on events and things happening at Integrity! Coming from a supportive family, Carter was raised strictly on academics, but he found a liking in sports. Carter attended college at Contra Costa College, then San Francisco State, and finally George Fox University, where he played basketball. As a basketball coach, he maintained that his athletes must take their studies seriously, as good academic performance would give them access to college and other opportunities in life. This belief was put to the test when, as a high school basketball coach at Richmond High School, he locked out his undefeated team for not honoring academic and behavioral contracts. While the community was outraged at first, public opinion eventually changed, and Carter was praised for his determined emphasis on prioritizing good values for his team. His approach also bore results: every one of his players at Richmond, where he coached from 1997 to 2002, graduated The story of the 1999 season is the basis for the 2005 film Coach Carter, with Carter played by Samuel L. https://www.thewvc.org/I've always been motivated to do my best. I will never give up on myself or my team mates. I am Christian in faith which is a huge part of my life and that helps me become an overall better person/athlete. I am very competitive, not just in sports. For instance, I was Midvale Sr. High School's Valedictorian of 2019 and plan on putting even more work into being the best I can be throughout my first year of college at the University of Idaho.I am also extremely committed to anything I take part in. To give an example, in my four years of high school, I spent over a year of it on crutches due to both a busted navicular bone and a chainsaw wound. Despite these injuries, I was still a part of the varsity basketball team and went to every game. I still took part in my 4-H project and showed my project on crutches. My grades were not affected by these injuries either, if anything, they got better. I believe these examples show true dedication and commitment.Lastly, I would like to express that an investment, of any sort, made in me will not be wasted and here is why. I genuinely believe that true work ethic and maximum effort simply have no downside. Furthermore, I have always loved the gratification of true hard work. I tend to be the guy who runs an extra lap at track practice because I like the pain and know I'll be a better athlete for it. During a basketball game, I'm the guy who dives for the ball even if that means sliding into the bleachers at full speed because I know that could be the difference between winning the game or not. Most importantly, I know there are people out there far less fortunate than I am. Many of these people are working, fighting just as hard or even harder than I am to make the best out of their lives and I see absolutely no reason to give less than one-hundred and ten percent. In turn, I may be able to help lift those less fortunate up.This roughly sums up who I am as an person/athlete. If you have any interest in me, please don't hesitate to email me or give me a call.
