Time travel is a fun concept to contemplate. When would you go? How would you get there? The questions and thought experiments are endless. There might not be a more exciting concept in all of pop culture. Speaking of time travel, this episode travels back 9 years. At that time, I was recording the Rusted Robot Podcast with my wife. Episode 32 was all about traveling through time. On this episode, we will all travel into the past to hear that episode that was recorded so long ago. The bulk of the show references a T-shirt I once owned. On this shirt was a clock and each hour was a different method of pop culture time travel shenanigans. Some travel methods include the T.A.R.D.I.S. from Doctor Who, the time machine from the classic film The Time Machine, and the Delorean from the Back to the Future franchise. Also included is the Guardian of Forever from the classic Star Trek episode, "The City of the Edge of Forever". This leads into a nice discussion of Star Trek. Later in the episode, we talk about books that include temporal displacement. Stephen King wrote 11/22/63 and Evan Mandery wrote a book called Q. The episode finishes up with a talk about some Doctor Who collectibles. This week's podcast promos: Cigar Nerds Podcast, and The Con Guy

Let's wrap up the weird tournament we started last week: Our latest FlopFight, featuring maids and butlers from sitcoms, cartoons, and beyond. We have TV characters from the 60s like Lurch (The Addams Family), Mr. French (Family Affair), and Rosie the Robot (The Jetsons). From the 80s we have Mr. Belvedere (from, you know, Mr. Belvedere), Nell (Gimme a Break), and even more maids from Diff'rent Strokes. And once again our special guest judge is Joe Crowe, Co-Director of the DragonCon American Sci-Fi Classics Track! Along the way, Kornflake celebrates Moonshine Day! Kevin has a squouse infestation! (A what?) Joe brings us Tales of the Nedra Volz Appreciation Society! We accidentally create a (perhaps inappropriate) new member of the Legion of Substitute Heroes! And one of us provides a pretty remarkable impression of Leon Redbone! So yeah, it gets a little silly. But only one maid or butler will survive. To make it more interesting, put some money down on your favorite. If you're Richie Rich, either your super-strong butler Cadbury or your robot maid Irona can fetch your wallet. It looks like it may be the end of the line for James Gunn's beloved Guardians of the Galaxy, the misfit galactic family who argued their way into our hearts, and super-charged the careers of both Gunn and leading man Chris Pratt. The Con Guy crew takes aim at Marvel's latest summer blockbuster, pulling no punches in our review of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. #guardiansofthegalaxy #guardiansofthegalaxyvol3 #gotgvol3 #marvel

We're taking a break from our Weird Al game, because it's time to review this year's list of nominees for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Kate Bush is back on the list, perhaps due to her Stranger Things-fueled resurgence. A couple of Kornflake's favorites are newly eligible nominees: Missy Elliott and the White Stripes. Since Dolly kicked in the door last year, another country legend is in the running this year: Willie Nelson. And a couple of our 80s pop heroes, Cyndi Lauper and George Michael, have finally been nominated. We break it all down for you, despite being furious about the continued snubbing of Right Said Fred. Also, for you science nerds: Kornflake has a trivia question about the periodic table of elements, and is searching the night sky for a mysterious green comet. We assume it was sent from the planet Oa by the Guardians of the Universe. And our regular links... The Flopcast website! The ESO Network! The Flopcast on Facebook! The Flopcast on Instagram! Inspired by our recent discussion of synthpop band A-ha and their massive hit "Take On Me," we're making a list of other 1980s songs with iconic keyboard parts. Plenty more synthy new wave acts are on the list (such as Eurythmics, Soft Cell, and Men Without Hats), but several rock bands better known for their guitars actually provided some of the decade's most memorable keyboards. (One obvious example: Van Halen and "Jump.") Check out our list and let us know what we missed. (It would be appropriate for this to be our FINAL COUNTDOWN, but you know we'll keep making more goofy lists around here...) Also: We're frightened by Hug a Runner Day, a delightful "What's in the Bag?" package arrives at the studio, and a "Chickens in the News" item gives us just one more reason to stay out of Florida. When your life is a disaster, there are only so many options to turn things around. This episode does not provide any answers. However, brother Robin leads a fairly amusing life. He sums his life up as a disaster. Is this true? I have known him for his whole life, and I would have to agree with him on this point. The good news is that Robin's mental health is in a good place. He is not sad, Nor is he depressed. Even though he does not have a job or any money, he is still feeling pretty optimistic about his future. It has been quite awhile since Robin has appeared on Soul Forge Podcast. We are getting an update on his life. His living situation, his kids, and his proximity to family. We discuss his job loss drama. Job loss is a recurring theme in Robin's life. We wrap up the episode with some wrestling talk. Robin recently suffered a mangled ear and a concussion. He almost had a chance to wrestle with the Cowboy James Storm. Robin's son recently got a chance to watch his dad in the ring. All in all, we get a lot of fun stories from Robin. And some possible hope for the future. This week's podcast promo: The Con Guy

With help from the crew of The Enterprise, Admiral James T. Kirk faces his old enemy, Khan Sing, and must stop him from using the ultimate weapon — the Genesis Device, in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. As part of our celebration of the movies of the Summer of 1982, the Con Guy turns the spotlight on the film that saved the Star Trek franchise, and we do it with two Star Trek experts: regular host Derek Samms and frequent guest Thomas Parham, PhD, the author of ‘Hailing Frequencies Open: Communication in Star Trek: The Next Generation.'
Comparing and contrasting my 2 main homes or cities. I was born and raised in Sault Ste. Marie (the Soo), went to university in North Bay, and moved to Timmins at the age of 26. Five and a half weeks ago I moved back to the Soo from Timmins where I spent the past 19 years. There is quite a bit of difference between the two cities. The Soo is a heavily Italian based town. Timmins is very Frence. People in the Soo are more friendly, while those in Timmins are more apt to have a vanity license plate. How people pronounce the word 'poutine' is different, as well as what they call the long weekend in May. While both towns are isolated and surrounded by nature, Sault Ste. Marie has more culture and travel opportunities. The Soo boasts a wonderful boardwalk and many old buildings. Timmins has many small lakes where people enjoy hunting and fishing. Also in this episode, I discuss chocolate milk. As a border town, the Soo has quick access to the USA. American chocolate milk is more fatty, and therefore more tasty. Have you ever wondered how Canada Post operates? Do you enjoy getting your mail delivered to your door? And what are those grey boxes on street corners? In the second half of this episode, I tell you all about how the mail delivery system works. Also, I explain how the job can differ based on the particular depot you work out of. Topics include: flyers, taxi cabs, sorting, supervisors and mailboxes. The episode concludes with various smaller topics. We are talking camping season and brotherhood. Yard sale season is also upon us. How am I enjoying TikTok? Find out on this episode! This week's podcast promo: The Con Guy
