The fights themselves were not necessarily the story for either Jake Paul or Jon Jones, during what has to be considered one of the biggest combat sports weekends in recent memory. For Jake Paul, it wasn't really that interesting that he went out there on Friday and beat the Ghost of Mike Tyson at Cowboy Stadium in front of a reported 65 million households on Netflix. The story was how many people watched, and how they reacted. Meanwhile, for Jones, his UFC 309 heavyweight championship fight against 42-year-old Stipe Miocic also went about as expected. The big plotline, though, is what Jones will do next. Also, HEY, did you know we're running a 50% off holiday special over at the CME Patreon? The booking of Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson at Cowboy Stadium has coveted more outrage than any of Paul's previous boxing adventures. Yet, the co-main event of the marquee belongs to Ireland's beacon of sporting success, Katie Taylor, and her 2022 Madison Square Garden counterpart, Amanda Serrano. One of boxing journalism's finest, Gavan Casey of the42.ie, returns to The Craic to discuss the bizarre dichotomy of a pure sporting clash between Taylor and Serrano and what many see as a freakshow in Tyson vs. Paul. Casey gives his take on the highly controversial booking, and despite his own disinterest in the contest, concedes that it is a massive opportunity and payday for Taylor and Serrano. He also gives his take on the optics of Taylor and Serrano playing chief support to Paul and Tyson and weighs in on Sean McComb being the target of a blatant robbery following his contest Arnold Barboza Jr. last week.
The Fighter vs. The Writer returns with UFC legend Matt Brown and MMA Fighting senior reporter Damon Martin discussing the fallout from the biggest moments of the past few days including Francis Ngannou's knockout loss to Anthony Joshua as well as everything that unfolded at UFC 299. In just his second professional boxing match, Ngannou took on Joshua in a main event fight from Saudi Arabia but unlike his first fight with Tyson Fury, things did not go nearly as well this time. Joshua ultimately ended Ngannou's night with a violent knockout in the second round. So following that loss what should Ngannou do next? Does he need to return to MMA or should he stick around for another boxing match? We'll also discuss Sean O'Malley's lopsided win over Marlon “Chito” Vera and what that performance said about him and his standing as bantamweight champion. Plus Dustin Poirier pulled off an incredible win over Benoit Saint Denis in a fight where it seemed like the entire world expected him to lose. Afterwards, Poirier hinted at a potential title bout with Islam Makhachev in June but should that actually happen? We'll also react to the news that Jake Paul is boxing Mike Tyson in a fight scheduled for Cowboy Stadium in Dallas in July. Why is this fight even happening and what do we expect to take place when Paul clashes with the 58-year-old former heavyweight champion? I am so excited to bring you my business update for August of 2022. This is my favorite episode every month. At the end of August, I'll be licensed for three years. Real Estate Business UpdateI had no settlements in July and I've got nothing on the books right now. I'll have no settlements here in August unless like a cash deal comes through. And actually, it feels kind of amazing. I shared on the last update how I had closed nine deals in May and June. That basically took me through the end of June to 95% of what I made all of last year. I knew a lull was coming after the last deal that I closed at the end of June, and I was really looking forward to it after all the work that went into those two months. Of course, as the dreamer and visionary that I am, I don't sit still for very long. So I totally embraced the past month of having nothing on the books. I had four or five potential buyers over the past few weeks reach out to me. A few of them will be under contract here over the next few weeks, and we'll have some closings as we get toward September, October, and then finish the year strong. From June of last year to July of this year, we have had 14 consecutive months of growth in the podcast. I am super thankful for all the people I continue to connect with and how it's grown this show. On the Home FrontI did enjoy the downtime. I spent a lot of time with my wife and my kids the last couple months, especially in July. Next week, we're taking our first vacation as just the four of us going down to Annapolis, Maryland. I'm super excited for that. We'll spend four or five days together there in Maryland by the water. I'm excited to get away with them and just have some quality family time. Coming UpI literally spent all night building out the membership community in a private Facebook group. And I am super excited about it gearing up. We'll have our third call of the Real Estate Survival Guide mastermind community tomorrow night at 7:00 PM. If you're interested in something like this, feel free to let me know. I'm still only inviting people that I think would be a good fit. I'm not advertising this yet. My goal is to grow it about five members a month. August is going to be fun with some time away with my family going to Podcast Movement in Dallas at the end of August. If I go and visit Cowboy Stadium, I'll make sure I walk in there with an Eagles Jersey for a tour. The NBA will be announcing bubble awards to the best of the best and we've narrowed it down to three names. Draymond Green doesn't stop talking and Jimmy Butler could be a great teammate or a nightmare... Mike Cleavinger is this month's biggest loser. Is a 20 game suspension even a punishment in the MLB? NCAA's postponement would've forced these guys to lose millions and Cowboys fans expect to see live games. OH, and the PGA has a new Sheriff in town....CHECK IT

Chapter 77: "Some quiet conversation" ...as read by Eric Andersen of The Novelists For this chapter we are joined by Eric Andersen of The Novelists. Eric was nice enough to sit down having just moved into a new home and wasn't even unpacked yet to keep his commitment to this podcast. The Novelists are a beautiful find from a friend who recommended I listen to their cover of "Africa" by Toto...but once I got started I couldn't stop. I am excited to hopefully introduce this Reno, Nevada gem to those who have never heard of them. We take our time and showcase a lot of music from their new album "Breaking The Script" throughout the entire conversation. Eric discusses his friendship with legendary Genesis guitarist Darryl Stuermer, what he learned from watching Billy Joel master classes and performing in Cowboy Stadium versus playing in a living room. It isn't always heavy stuff here at ATSG headquarters and The Novelists are proof as to how good it can get. From May 2009: Any project to expand the interstate in a heavily populated area such as the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex is by its very nature going to be a massive undertaking. And while driving through such a project can be an inconvenience, especially on a daily commute, such projects have an untold upside that can last for generations. In Arlington, where TxDOT is widening Interstate 30, one such benefit has been the billion-dollar construction of Cowboy Stadium. For more on what expanding Interstate 30 has meant - and will mean - to the city of Arlington, the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex and the State of Texas, I spoke with Jay Burress, President and CEO of the Arlington Convention and Visitor's Bureau.
