Nothing holds an edge like Valyrian Steel... except maybe the return of the best podcast about collecting movie props! The boys are back for a brand new season, and they're chatting what's new in props, House of the Dragon, and what's ahead for The Stuff Dreams Are Made Of. Then, David and Ryan are joined by swordsmith (don't call him "master") Peter Johnsson of Sweden who designed and built the "hero" versions of the famous Targaryen ancestral swords, Blackfyre and Dark Sister. How does one go about forging Valyrian Steel? Tune in and find out.

On this episode of The Walking Dead....well not really, but after seeing Viserys, it kinda is. This episode starts us off six years after Lady Laena's funeral with the news of Corlys being severely wounded and possibly unable to return from it and once again sit at the head of House Velaryon. So the people around him do what they always do in this universe, they jostle for position to take his place. Corlys' brother Vaemond feels he has the strongest claim to the Driftmark throne and lets everyone from Rhaenys to Viserys know it. And that sharp tongue got him introduced to an even sharper blade and a trip to the Upper Room. After Viserys' surprise entry to proceedings and him solidifying Luke as king of Driftmark, Vaemond lost it and proclaimed that Rhaenyra was a whore and her kids were bastards. He was introduced very quickly to Dark Sister. We got to see what appeared to be the beginnings of peace and reconciliation between Alicent and Rhaenyra only to have it erased by the shenanigans and nonsense of their kids at dinner once Viserys is carried out the room. The biggest moment for me was the end conversation between Alicent and an out of his mind Viserys where, thinking it was Rhaenyra, he spoke to her about the prince that was promised saying she was the only one that could unite the realm. Im pretty sure she is going to take that and run with it.Subscribe to WATCH DEM THRONES by Black With No ChaserYoutube: https://youtu.be/LjirbJX5ldEApple Music: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/ep1-the-heir-to-the-dragon-recap/id1641754247?i=1000577353881Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/episode/2eOsE7L3DTn4l1ObJCXhzh?si=lstDDAZLSCWdCULJcXu9Vg&utm_source=copy-linkAmazon Music https://music.amazon.com/podcasts/45279c3a-c09f-47d1-a3a3-88e6e2507230/watch-dem-thrones-by-black-with-no-chaserIHeartRadio https://www.iheart.com/podcast/269-watch-dem-thrones-by-black-101286659/?#houseofthedragon #watchdemthrones #dragons #demdragons #hbomax #jokes #humor #explorepage #blackwithnochaser #podsincolor #podcast

We were joined by guest Tommy Pappas of the TKOK Podcast network to discuss the whereabouts of: Blackfyre, Dark Sister, Brightroar, the crown of Aegon the Conqueror and quite a few others. We'll also discuss how and why they might return to the fold... and the pages of ASOIAF. As Euron and Melisandre are wont to tell us, power itself flows from the trappings of power, and there's really nothing like carrying Valyrian steel at your hip (or on your head). Just ask Tywin Lannister, it took him some 30 plus years to get his hands on some, and he didn't exactly play fair. Have you washed your hands yet? Please take care of your selves and each other. This week, we recorded remotely for the first time. After chopping it up about how COVID-19 has affected our relationships to poetry, we dive into a conversation with Paisley Rekdal from a few months ago about mythology, movement, and making difficult editorial choices. PAISLEY REKDAL is the author of a book of essays, The Night My Mother Met Bruce Lee; the hybrid photo-text memoir, Intimate; and five books of poetry: A Crash of Rhinos; Six Girls Without Pants; The Invention of the Kaleidoscope; Animal Eye, a finalist for the 2013 Kingsley Tufts Prize and winner of the UNT Rilke Prize; and Imaginary Vessels, finalist for the 2018 Kingsley Tufts Prize and the Washington State Book Award. Her newest work of nonfiction is a book-length essay, The Broken Country: On Trauma, a Crime, and the Continuing Legacy of Vietnam. A new collection of poems, Nightingale, which re-writes many of the myths in Ovid's The Metamorphoses, was published spring 2019. Appropriate: A Provocation, which examines cultural appropriation, is forthcoming from W.W. Norton in Feb. 2021. She is the guest editor for Best American Poetry 2020. Her work has received a Guggenheim Fellowship, the Amy Lowell Poetry Traveling Fellowship, a Fulbright Fellowship, a Civitella Ranieri Residency, a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship, Pushcart Prizes (2009, 2013), Narrative's Poetry Prize, the AWP Creative Nonfiction Prize, and various state arts council awards.
