Come and join the conversation with the gorgeous Deborah Mitchell!Fresh from her recent appearance on Lorraine, Deborah excitedly tells me about being awarded The Royal Warrant! A centuries old endorsement that shows that not only do the Royal Family use her products, but they have used them for many years previously. After beginning her career over 30 years ago as a beautician, Deborah built her own skincare company, attracting many a celebrity fan along the way. With her royally cemented status as a leading skincare brand, not just for the products themselves, Deborah's range actually improves skin issues instead of masking them like many out there on the market. We chat about the challenging times she's had in her business journey, people jumping on her success and creating copycat products in a bid to emulate her skincare line, even appearing in high street stores. The beauty of her Royal Warrant however, is that this is the official stamp of approval to show that it is in fact Heaven Skincare and no substitutes! We delve into Deborah's background, her humble beginnings and never in her wildest dreams did she imagine the success she has experienced to date. From starting out in training, coming from having little money, to now regularly travelling to the Palace, Deborah honestly tells me about the massive change in the path that her life has taken. (She was actually in the car travelling back from the Palace as we recorded the episode!)We chat developing product ranges that work instantly, making people look visibly younger, her own journey with acne and identifying a need to help her own skin which then birthed her lifelong passion to help others with theirs. For Deborah, it goes far deeper than developing a product and getting it retail ready, she actually goes one step further and delivers training to salon owners and spa directors. What this serves to do is not just help them to offer amazing products that really work for their own clients and customers, but it enables them to educate them in how best to look after their skin, delivering a real 360 approach to her offering.Passionate about educating others and busting those beauty myths, her desire to actually help people absolutely shines through when she talks! We talk about the importance of taking care of your skin, and Deborah tells me about the disgusting bugs that may appear if you don't! My goodness it scared me into submission to adopt and brand new cleansing routine FAST!We chat the future of Heaven, stinging nettles, celebrities, royalty and how a dream one night made her discover bee venom and acquired her nickname of The Bee Venom Queen! Deborah is very open about her dyslexia diagnosis, the challenges she's faced along the way with it, but also her gratitude for how her brain works. Sparking ideas and creating incredible products has been a rollercoaster journey for her and is fascinating to hear about.Talking about going to events with the likes of Cillian Murphy doesn't faze Deborah, it's almost become second nature to her, she's so down to earth and loves nothing more than to share her success with others! She's so grounded and remains true to her roots, often reminding herself of the struggles she has had to get to this point which keeps her feet firmly on the ground. Such an incredibly inspiring, knowledgeable, kind and amazing woman, and such a pleasure to chat to!You can find out more about Deborah's incredible Royal Approved products on her website here:https://heavenskincare.com/

Follow Wade on IG: https://www.instagram.com/wade_patton/ http://wadepatton.com/ From Wade Patton: The spare beauty of the prairie resonates in my work. I’m an enrolled member of the Oglala Lakota Tribe and grew up on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation surrounded by a rich culture of music and art. After obtaining a BA in art from Black Hills State University and having a solo exhibit at the Sioux Indian Museum in Rapid City I decided to move away. It took leaving South Dakota for me to find the voice in my most recent body of works. Yet, while pursuing other art opportunities on the east coast, I longed for home. Living on the east coast, I began expressing what I missed, the beauty and splendor of the Black Hills and the skies of South Dakota. I started to draw landscapes and clouds, as a reminder of home. Something clicked, not only in my artistic expression, but with collectors and galleries. Their response was unexpected, but welcomed. I started sending work back home for exhibits and to galleries, and was getting recognition. I realized how much I needed to return, I missed my family and I needed to pursue my art in the place where I find the most inspiration. That decision brought me straight into the thriving Native art scene that clearly wasn't here when I left. Interestingly, when I moved back people would say, ‘Oh, you’re the cloud guy!’. People didn't know me, but knew my work. I’m reacquainting myself with the land and my ancestry. This is most prevalent in my new works and it’s exciting for me as an artist to look forward to the future in the works that I’ll produce. Since being home, I have been more involved in the art scene, involved with the community more and have gained more respect with my art. I have been able to be here and explain more on a one on one basis with people which is essential for an artist to sustain themselves with their art. “With the elegant line and an almost hypnotic use of pattern, Patton draws the viewer into his interpretation of the natural elements and seasonal changes of the land. His mastery of graphite evokes the subtlest of phenomenon and his spare use of color is inspired by beadwork, orchestrates the prairie grasses, stormy skies and then power of the buffalo.’ -Deborah Mitchell, Director APEX Gallery
Do you ever wonder how people get their stories featured on TV? I HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY got a hold of Deborah Mitchell, an Emmy-nominated TV producer who specializes in the art of giving a successful TV interview, to tell us how. During her years at CBS and ABC networks, Deborah managed thousands of live and taped programs, working with talents such as Andy Cohen, Julie Chen, Bryant Gumbel, Barbara Walters, Geraldo Rivera, Martha Stewart, and Chef Marcus Samuelsson. She produced for CBS News The Early Show, ABC’s Live with Regis and Kathie Lee, and was Supervising Producer and Co-Host on Geraldo, the daytime talk show. What type of story are news outlets looking for? What’s the best approach to address Diversity and Inclusion when creating original content? What are the pros and cons of LIVE streaming vs. pre-recorded programming? Well, we asked Deborah and she was very generous with the advice she shared on the best ways to share your message with the world using the traditional and digital mediums.
South Florida’s subtropical wilderness inspired us to stage a remote radio broadcast from the Everglades. Miami-based sculptor Robert Chambers lived in Everglades National Park for one month in 2018, as a Fellow in the Artist in Residence in Everglades program. In the darkness outside his studio one night, the artist tripped on the roots of an ancient plant: The Saw Palmetto (in Latin, Serenoa repens), That’s when a hidden world began opening up to him. In fact, the small palms are everywhere you look, native to the subtropical wilderness. The leaves are woven into the thatched roofs of indigenous pavilions you’ll find in Big Cypress, a wetlands preserve north of the national park. In some parts of the world, saw palmetto berries are cherished for their healing properties. We meet Robert Chambers to explore his exhibition titled Serepens at the AIRIE Nest, an art gallery inside the Visitor Center. AIRIE curator Deborah Mitchell and two environmental scientists who’ve inspired his new body of work are here, too. Botanist Walter Abrahamson has been researching the saw palmetto for forty years. Hilary Swain directs the Archbold Biological Station, a center dedicated to research and conservation in the South Florida watershed. Today, we take you to meet to artist Deborah Mitchell in her studio on Miami Beach, to talk about the ways that Florida’s southwest coast inspires her. The contested landscape, endangered by encroaching urban development and sea level rise, is where she engages as an artist and an advocate for North America’s only subtropical wilderness: The Everglades. Mitchell’s mindful practice expresses her affinity for this fragile ecology, and her desire to learn, share and preserve its science and history.
