The Dhyanabindu Upanishad (Sanskrit: ध्यानबिन्दू उपनिषत्, IAST: Dhyānabindu Upaniṣad) is an ancient Sanskrit text and a minor Upanishad of Hinduism. It is one of twenty Yoga Upanishads in the four Vedas. The manuscripts of this Upanishad exist in two versions. The short version has 23 verses and is attached to the Atharvaveda, while the longer version has 106 verses and is attached to the Samaveda. The text is also called Dhyāna-bindūpanishad.
Manish Vyas: India, its Paths, Traditions, Yoga, Music, Mantra, Spirituality
Meditation is not about 'doing something.' Yes, we can work on meditation techniques in order to arrive to a more meditative state. The technique will help the cleansing of the mind, the cleansing of the psyche. But at some point the technique has to be dropped, and the real meditation has to manifest. That is, in real life.So even when someone tells me, "i practice a lot of meditation," one can immediately see by the person's reflection if it remains just in the meditation technique, or if the meditation is reflected in his or her life. Meditation must be a reflection, otherwise it's just 'passing time.'One requires proper guidance, proper practice and proper understanding in the journey of seeking, in order for this journey to bring the right fruit. A light is needed in the path, to go towards the right direction. Meditation or Dhyāna, as we call it in India, is one of the words most misunderstood in the west, because mostly people refer to it as an activity, and not as a state. Furthermore, meditation is simple, it's not about philosophies and serious things... remaining conscious and acting with awareness as opposed to forgetfulness is meditation. As my Master says, "the mystical is the most practical."
Spiritual Gupshup - सरल भगवद् गीता - Bhagavad Gita Simplified (Hindi Podcast) !!
Chapter 6: Dhyān Yog The Yog of Meditation In this chapter, Shree Krishna continues the comparative evaluation of karm yog (practicing spirituality while continuing the worldly duties) and karm sanyās (practicing spirituality in the renounced order) from chapter five and recommends the former. When we perform work in devotion, it purifies the mind and deepens our spiritual realization. Then when the mind becomes tranquil, meditation becomes the primary means of elevation. Through meditation, yogis strive to conquer their mind, for while the untrained mind is the worst enemy, the trained mind is the best friend. Shree Krishna cautions Arjun that one cannot attain success on the spiritual path by engaging in severe austerities, and hence one must be temperate in eating, work, recreation, and sleep. He then explains the sādhanā for uniting the mind with God. Just as a lamp in a windless place does not flicker, likewise the sādhak must hold the mind steady in meditation. The mind is indeed difficult to restrain, but by practice and detachment, it can be controlled. So, wherever it wanders, one should bring it back and continually focus it upon God. When the mind gets purified, it becomes established in transcendence. In that joyous state called samādhi, one experiences boundless divine bliss. Arjun then questions Shree Krishna about the fate of the aspirant who begins on the path, but is unable to reach the goal due to an unsteady mind. Shree Krishna reassures him that one who strives for God-realization is never overcome by evil. God always keeps account of our spiritual merits accumulated in previous lives and reawakens that wisdom in future births, so that we may continue the journey from where we had left off. With the accrued merits of many past lives, yogis are able to reach God in their present life itself. The chapter concludes with a declaration that the yogi (one who strives to unite with God) is superior to the tapasvī (ascetic), the jñānī (person of learning), and the karmī (ritualistic performer). And amongst all yogis, one who engages in bhakti (loving devotion to God) is the highest of all. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/spiritual-gupshup/message

Listen to the enchanting, wish-fulfilling and sin-absolving prayer of the names of Gaurī. The ṛṣi of this prayer is Aṅgirasa. The meter is anuṣṭup. The presiding Devī is Gaurī. This should be recited to overcome difficulties. “The six bījas—(āūṁ) hṛāṁ śrīṁ hṛīṁ klīṁ aiṁ sauḥ—are to be installed in one’s body by nyāsa; and this prayer is to be recited after meditating on Her form. Dhyānam “She is seated on a Lion; Her hue is dark green; She is shining, with a silk garment; She wields a sword, shield, trident and club in Her four hands; Her head is decorated with the crescent moon; She is the granter of wishes. Such a form of Gaurī is to meditated upon.”

Narrated by Denis Daly In a world riddled with irreconcilable conflict among doctrinaire religions, Soyen Shaku's crisp and incisive commentaries on Buddhism come across as particularly engaging. Shaku's eminently reasonable worldview and his skillful exposition of a truly universal definition of divinity and its inevitable necessity are both compelling and difficult to refute. In particular, this collection of discourses probes deeply and revealingly into the fundamental questions that occupy the minds of believers and unbelievers alike: why men cultivate religion in the first place and what is the secret of its persistent vitality. This podcast is centered around a Loving Kindness practice designed to help develop joy and vision for our Shamatha practice, but it will work for many things. As almost always we start with a very good introduction followed by the 24 minute practice. Afterwards there is a short footnote about the difference between achieving Shamatha (access to the first Dhyāna) and actually achieving the first Dhyāna and what each entails. The podcast ends there because was a question asked, "Alan, how would you like to see the development of Buddhism and Contemplative Science in the West within the next 10-15 years." As you can imagine, I will leave this for the much-loved sunday bonus! If you know Alan, you know that this question deserves its own podcast episode. This picture is of the spirit houses (or san phra phum in Thai) at the entryway to the Mind Centre! The theory behind them is very interesting once again I suggest consulting our great friend, Google!
