To Raise a new party member or Leave to Rest... Due to the nature of TTRPG & improvising stories, some themes and sceneries that occur in-game may be difficult for different people. Typically we label adventures (Kid Friendly) in the title when they are intended for young goblins. Join me as I go on location to Dog Might Games in Ann Arbor, MI to learn how an artist and a computer programmer, who knew very little about business, turned a love of gaming into a multi-million dollar success with a passionate tribe of 100,000+ followers from all over the globe. About the Guest: Dog Might Gaming combines craftsmanship and thematic artistry to create truly unique pieces of functional art for your game. From the Original Component Collector to our fully sculpted Valhalla Screens for GMs, each piece is created on-site in our woodshop in Michigan by our devoted team of craftsmen. The company was willed into existence over 2000 years ago by a pair of insane axe-wielding Viking Lumberjack Gods. The Viking Lumberjack Gods had already been converting local Ents and their less animated cousins – 'trees' – into high-quality tabletop gaming gear for centuries. With the advent of the worldwide series of informational tubes, the Viking Lumberjack Gods realized that it was time to share their harvest with the rest of humanity. They opened the doors of Dog Might Games so all mortals could enjoy the bounty of Ent corpses converted into utilitarian gaming hardware. The company looks forward to launching more Kickstarter projects, touring the trade show circuit, and causing general mayhem over the coming centuries. Since October is upon us, we wanted to get on in a stylish fashion by flashing back to the beginning of Sir Tom Hanks’ career and have some fun by riffing on this classically naff movie about tabletop in the heart of the Satanic Panic. You can watch Monsters and Mazes for free on Amazon Prime, whom we do not endorse in any way and are not connected with. We do not suggest that you illegally download this film from elsewhere online, in fact we tacitly deny that as a proper course of action.Watch along with us and hear our opinions instead of Tom Hanks’ original voice! The film starts at 13:39 in the podcast. You’ll hear 3 beeps and you’ll click play on the three. This episode contains no audio from the film so we don’t get copyright blocked. If you enjoy this sort of thing, let us know at WTIIboiz@gmail.com or on Twitter @WTIICast.We’ll be back next week with a Dungeon Delving episode to start off our next campaign series in the Shadowrun system, set in a dystopian cyber-punk Birmingham.Come check out the Birmingham Tabletop League’s game night every Monday at Brennan’s Irish Pub, 4-9pm! Last year, during a playthrough of Pandemic Legacy Season 1, we decided we needed something more than our four condiment dishes for game components. Around that same time, Dog Might Games launched their Kickstarter for the Component Collector. At first glance, we knew we had to have it. Once it arrived a couple weeks ago, we invited some friends around to get it on the show. Did it meet our expectation? Our first installment of "Mildly Alarming Plays a Boardgame". We play through Lakebilly Card Game from Dog Might Games and reminisce about our childhood. Because of the theme of the game in question, this one gets a little more blue than our usual stuff. We edited out our own swears, but there are still some foul words and adult themes in the game text itself that we left in a) for clarity and b) because my 8th grade teacher told me it's not swearing if it's a quote. Consider yourself warned. We got these games and generally cool swag from the very generous fellows over at Dog Might Games. In this bit, we play Lakebilly, which you can find over at www.lakebillycardgame.com
