The Himalayan glaciers are melting more rapidly as global temperatures rise, raising concerns about the future of ecosystems and communities across the Himalayan mountain range. Glaciers store more than two thirds of the world's freshwater and help regulate global temperatures by reflecting the sun's rays.Across South Asia, melting ice is contributing to the formation of unstable glacial lakes and increasing the risks of floods, droughts and avalanches. The Himalayas are a vital source of water for millions of people, supporting agriculture, energy production and livelihoods from tourism.Experts warn that continued glacier loss could have significant consequences for people living in the region and the mountainous ecosystem, but what can be done to respond to these changes? This week on The Inquiry, we're asking: are the Himalayan glaciers at a tipping point?Contributors: Pasang Yangjee Sherpa, assistant professor at the University of British Columbia, Canada Pam Pearson, director and founder of the International Cryosphere Climate Initiative, US Matthias Huss, glaciologist and senior scientist at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich, Switzerland Alton Byers, faculty research scientist at the Institute of Artic and Alpine Research at the University of Colorado, USPresenter: Tanya Beckett Producer: Matt Toulson Researchers: Evie Yabsley and Amelia Cox Editor: Tom Bigwood Technical producer: Mitch Goodall Production management: Phoebe Lomas and Liam Morrey(Photo: Trekkers walk to Everest Base Camp in Nepal. The LRC (Lezak Recurring Cycle) was invented by well-known meteorologist Gary Lezak. It revolves around a proven theory that starting in early October, once the sun sets at the north pole and that area goes into darkness, a new "cycle" starts to develop. How it works: Patterns begin to emerge each fall as the jet stream begins to move south, from its minimum in late summer. When this happens, a pattern begins to develop from the unique temperature differences in the Artic. Anchor troughs and anchor ridges develop and shape how the jet stream flows. Gary's Global Predictor app is a, cloud-based tool powered by Weather 20/20's LRC model that provides long-range weather forecasts up to 6 months in advance for any location worldwide. Designed for planning weddings, travel, and events, it offers daily temperature highs/lows, rain/snow probabilities, and interactive map features.
1. DHS Shutdown and Airport Crisis The discussion centers on a prolonged Department of Homeland Security (DHS) shutdown that led to unpaid TSA agents, widespread airport delays, and near-collapse of airport operations. President Trump issued an emergency order to ensure TSA agents were paid, averting a potential nationwide airport shutdown. The crisis is framed as a direct consequence of Senate Democrats refusing to vote on DHS funding. 2. Political Strategy Behind DHS Funding Democrats are deliberately defunding DHS to block immigration enforcement, particularly ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement). Republicans ultimately agreed to a short-term funding bill that restores pay to most DHS employees except ICE, as a temporary measure to reopen government operations. Republicans plan to use budget reconciliation (which requires only 50 votes) to pass long-term funding for ICE and border enforcement, potentially locking in funding for up to 10 years. 3. ICE and Border Enforcement Dispute ICE funding becomes the central ideological battleground. Democrats are openly opposing immigration enforcement, including: Deportation officers (ERO) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), which handles terrorism, human trafficking, cybercrime, and child exploitation Republicans argue that Democrats’ stance jeopardizes national security and public safety. 4. Senate Votes and Procedural Maneuvering The DHS funding bill ultimately passed the Senate by voice vote late at night, signaling no formal opposition at the moment of passage. The House is expected to pass it, restoring operations and pay for most federal personnel. This outcome is a tactical but temporary Democratic win, soon to be reversed via reconciliation. 5. SAVE Act and Voter ID Controversy The SAVE Act seeks to: Require proof of U.S. citizenship to register to vote Require photo ID to vote Democrats publicly claim to support voter ID but unanimously voted against a standalone voter ID amendment. Numerous quotes from Democratic leaders supporting voter ID are contrasted with their actual Senate votes, highlighting alleged hypocrisy. Republicans argue that voter ID has overwhelming bipartisan public support. 6. Media Accountability Most mainstream media outlets are accused of shielding Democrats from accountability. CBS News is highlighted as an exception for openly reporting the contradiction between Democratic statements and votes. 7. “Arctic Frost” Investigation (Modern Watergate) The transcript describes a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing into “Arctic Frost,” alleged to be a DOJ operation targeting Donald Trump and conservative institutions. Claims include: Hundreds of subpoenas Surveillance of ~20% of Republican senators Subpoenas for campaign staff, donors, and private citizens Wiretapping of attorney-client communications The scale is described as far exceeding Watergate. 8. Alleged DOJ and FBI Weaponization The Biden administration is accused of politicizing the Department of Justice and FBI. Democrats are criticized for refusing to condemn or even discuss these actions. A sharp contrast is drawn with Watergate-era Republicans who confronted their own party’s president to uphold institutional integrity. Please Hit Subscribe to this podcast Right Now. In this special conversation on Aspire to Lead, Joshua Stamper, Kim Gameroz, and Mitch Weathers share everything you need to know about the Thriving Educators Summit 2026 and how it was born from a desire to help teachers move from surviving to truly thriving after years of running hard and lean in schools. Listeners will hear the story behind the free virtual summit, what makes its fast paced, highly practical sessions different from typical PD, and how districts are using past summit recordings as a no cost professional learning library all year long. The crew also spotlights Kim's Becoming the Bison session on intentional teaching and leading, Joshua and TJ's new leadership focused session, and the growing speaker lineup that blends inspiration with concrete next steps educators can act on immediately. Finally, they preview the in person VIBE Edu event at the ARTIC in Anaheim, California and explain how both gatherings are designed to give educators community, clarity, and energy heading into a new school year. Thriving Educators Summit 2026: https://thrivingeducatorssummit.com/ Vibe EDU Event 2026: https://www.teachinginsideout.com/vibe-edu About Mitch Weathers: Mitch Weathers became an exceptional educator because he once struggled as a student. Throughout his academic journey, Mitch rarely felt comfortable in the classroom. It took him seven years to graduate from college—a reflection not of ability, but of disconnection. He often experienced education as something happening around him, not something he was actively part of. That sense of isolation fueled his desire to create a different kind of learning experience. When Mitch became a teacher, he brought with him a deep empathy for students who felt unseen or overwhelmed. He quickly realized that before we can effectively teach content, we must first build the foundation for learning. That foundation is structure, consistency, and support. To meet this need, Mitch created Organized Binder—a simple, research-backed system that empowers teachers to explicitly teach executive functioning skills without sacrificing instructional time. By establishing predictable learning routines, teachers foster safer, more inclusive classrooms where students gain confidence, independence, and a sense of belonging. Mitch's mission is to equip educators with the tools to help every student succeed—not just academically, but personally. Timing is everything. The versatile American journalist Kenneth Rosen was last on the show in early 2021 talking about troubled teens. Since then, Rosen has travelled extensively in the Arctic and has just published Polar War, a narrative about the chilling costs to both America and the world of the new Cold War in the Arctic. Timing is, indeed, everything, especially in the book business. But Rosen's travelogue of melting icecaps and vanishing indigenous cultures offers an alternative take on the media's current geo-strategic obsession with Greenland. "I worry most about the indigenous communities and their ways of life. This is the sustenance lifestyle that will be eradicated—something that we'll lose as a country and as humanity,” Rosen warns. “It's only a matter of time before the snow and ice melts forever." And when it's gone, it's gone. Then timing will be nothing. Keen On America is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber. In this episode, Fred shares harrowing tales from law enforcement professional Tim and a villager named Aggie. Tim recounts a terrifying encounter with an enormous creature while patrolling Alaskan wilderness, initially dismissed as a bear but later believed to be a Bigfoot. As the hunt for the creature becomes more intense, Tim faces skepticism from his partner and deals with the psychological impact of his experience. Next, Aggie, a resident from a remote Alaskan village, describes her childhood encounter with a 'Hairy Man' while supervising younger children. She details the strange behavior of the creature and the local legends surrounding the mysterious being, including the disappearance of her uncle. Both stories underscore the eerie, yet fascinating, folklore and unexplained phenomena in Alaska.Get Our FREE NewsletterGet Brian's Books Leave Us A VoicemailVisit Our WebsiteSupport Our SponsorsVisit Untold Radio AM00:00 Introduction and Tim's Background 01:11 Tim's First Encounter: The Hunters' Story 04:02 The Mysterious Creature Revealed 07:18 Tim's Return and the Aftermath 22:27 Aggie's Story: A Childhood Encounter 32:21 The Harry Man: Village Legends and Warnings 33:43 Conclusion and Final ThoughtsBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/sasquatch-odyssey--4839697/support.

Well, this accidental historian, as Buddy describes himself says… "That these historical models provide a sort of connective tissue for today's innovators and thought leaders who will show us the way to do the things we need to do in the future to survive on this big rock.”

Did you know the word catholic means the whole, or more colloquially, "universal." Christianity is progressive in the truest most noble sense. Pope Francis put it this way in his apostolic exhortation from 2013, Evangelii Gaudium, section 247: We hold the Jewish people in special regard because their covenant with God has never been revoked, for “the gifts and the call of God are irrevocable” (Rom 11:29). The Church, which shares with Jews an important part of the sacred Scriptures, looks upon the people of the covenant and their faith as one of the sacred roots of her own Christian identity (cf. Rom 11:16-18). As Christians, we cannot consider Judaism as a foreign religion. Other topics include: Judeo-Christianity versus secularism; secularism is a faded copy of the old religious doctrine; the covenant God has with the Jews; your actions on earth determine your destination after death; universalist and particularist is the ideal; proselytizing; Jonah.
