Hour 2 of The Drew Mariani Show on 9-1-23 Fr. Dwight Longenecker tells us about his new memoir, "There and Back Again" - documenting his journey from the Anglican church to the fullness of faith in the Catholic Church
“Lead, kindly light.” These words of St. John Henry Newman have long resonated with Christians who strive always to place their trust in Christ. The saint's words are perhaps particularly dear to those whose Christian journey has taken them through the Anglican Communion and into the Catholic Church, as Newman's did. One such pilgrim is Fr. Dwight Longenecker, whose path from Protestant fundamentalism, through the Church of England, and finally to the Catholic priesthood is chronicled in the new book, “There and Back Again,” now available from Ignatius Press. In this episode, our host Andrew Petiprin speaks with Fr. Longenecker about the twists and turns of his spiritual journey, which took him around the world and back again in pursuit of God's will and eternal Truth. Snippet From the Show “If you're so convinced that you're right you've got the wrong attitude. Because being right at all costs is a symptom of pride, and at the core of the Christian belief, the very first step in getting things right is to say I'm wrong.” – Fr. Dwight Longenecker Our special guest on Girlfriends is Fr. Dwight Longenecker, author, speaker, Catholic priest, and pastor of Our lady of the Rosary Church in Greenville, South Carolina. Fr. Dwight will be a featured presenter at the Good Catholic event, How to Find Peace in Political Times. Fr. The Catholic Herald Podcast: Merely Catholic with Gavin Ashenden
In the Bible, Jesus Christ teaches that God is the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, but the Anglican Archbishop of York has now distanced himself from the language of divine revelation, declaring it to be “problematic”. In this 54th episode of Merely Catholic, the podcast series for the Catholic Herald, former Anglicans Fr Dwight Longenecker and Dr Gavin Ashenden unpack the reasons why Our Lord chose to reveal the Persons and nature of the Holy Trinity in such terms as they confront what they describe as an “astonishing” redrafting of Christianity by one of the most senior leaders of the Church of England.

Today Sam and John are joined by a Scripture scholar and man who has written two recent books on the Infancy Narratives of Christ's birth, Fr. Dwight Longenecker. We discuss the truth of the Magi, the shepherds, and other stories that have come down through centuries that are not directly found in Scripture. How many Magi were there and where do we learn that number? How were Shepherd's stories passed down to Luke, writing 50-60 years later? We discuss all of this and how learning this information can be a turning point in your life.
