The Jazz Show takes a side-step this long weekend from its usual programming, Host Blind Mango Chutney calling a Rock Jazz theme. Blind Mango invites local vinyl collector Johnny Dambuster as special guest Selector —with the Rock Jazz theme being a much talked about concept between Blind Mango & the Dambuster for quite some time. The pair have a blast taking a deep dive & a somewhat wild ride into the Rock-Jazz milieu. First selections come from the early Rock' n' Roll period with key vocalists Big Mama Thornton & Big Maybelle. Things get a tad trippy with psychedelic selections from Hendrix, Les Paul, & Blood Sweat & Tears, unfolding later with some unlikely surprises, as Dambuster unearths some buried nuggets from Alice Cooper, Snakefinger (the Residents), & Throbbing Gristle. Plus The MC5 enter for a totally Sonic moment! - (It's all about the track's epic Drum intro, & the Saxophones mid track folks!). Blind Mango knocks it into the End-Zone with essential tracks from King Crimson, John McLaughlin, & Larry Coryell, ending the show on a total high with Charlie Hunter's great version of Nirvana's Come as You Are — all making for an eclectic, & indeed an *electric* mix of Rock-Jazz Vibes with a busy text machine keeping the Crew busy with ppl diggin' the show's selections. (A part 2 perhaps, guys?) DJ Sassy pops in to host the Jazz Gig Guide, & adds a refreshing beverage twist — & Miss Dom to present the Vinyl Fair Guide. Rock on Folks! With big thanks to our show sponsors: San Ray at 118 Ponsonby Road
Holy thunder & lightning last night! Not sure if you heard/saw any of it, but the puppy DEFINITELY woke up during the storm, which woke me up…and now I need a nap. I always need a nap, though. It's Easter weekend, with the holiday on Sunday. Looking forward to some ham & scalloped potatoes! In honor of the holiday, we took a look at a bunch of Easter stats & info, including the top candy for each state. Sunday is also 4/20, so we also discussed some interesting results from a recent study on marijuana use. In the news this morning, a bond reduction for a shooting suspect in La Crosse, charges for a man who was involved in a police chase in Eau Claire, a meeting about uncounted ballots in Madison turned into a shouting match, and a deadly shooting at Florida State University yesterday afternoon. In sports, the Brewers begin a series against the A's tonight, the Bucks start their playoff run tomorrow against the Pacers while the NBA play-in tournament wraps up tonight. The NHL playoffs begin this weekend, and Aaron Rodgers discussed his free agency with Pat McAfee. Elsewhere in sports, Lee Corso is retiring, the NCAA has updated it's rules regarding timeouts, and Artemi Panarin was accused of sexual assault by a former Rangers employee. Cool story about a Taco Bell employee who got a full ride at college thanks to a scholarship from the company. And another cool story about a group of painters that helped a woman that's fighting cancer. We let you know what's on TV and in theaters this weekend, and we talked racing with Doc thanks to County Materials in Holmen. And in today's edition of "Bad News with Happy Music", we had stories about the state flag of Virginia, a city in #Florida getting rid of Spring Break, a guy who pulled a gun in a comic book store, a woman who got barfed on during a flight, a RoboCop in Thailand, and an OnlyFans girl who pisses on EVERYTHING. What does the déjà vu allegedly caused by the Airborne Toxic Event have to do with a disease called Jumping Frenchman? How is Jack Gladney's “day of the station wagons” connected to the first female NHL player's longing for quaint hometown holidays? In Episode 24, DDSWTNP continue our White Noise residency by showing listeners all the hidden connections between DeLillo's most famous novel and his most obscure: Cleo Birdwell's Amazons, his pseudonymous 1980 collaboration with Sue Buck, written as a kind of lark but we think absolutely integral to the satiric vision of White Noise five years later. Our discussion suggests all the ways in which DeLillo seems to have used Amazons as a “laboratory” of sorts, developing Cleo's thoughts on ad shoots, celebrity athletes, Americana, and an ex-player in a deathlike suspension into the richer, more in-depth meditations on similar topics in White Noise. Naturally we give major attention to Murray Jay Siskind, a sportswriter in Amazons who's become an Elvis scholar in White Noise, expressing above all our gratitude that DeLillo came back to him and transformed him, reshaping an already very funny snowmobile obsessive into a Mephistophelean wit and one of the darkest, most memorable characters in the corpus. Those who haven't gotten to read Amazons but know other DeLillo will get a ton out of this episode, for we end up drawing surprising connections not just to White Noise but Americana, End Zone, Great Jones Street, Underworld, Zero K, and others. Turns out this prank of a novel in 1980 paid many dividends for DeLillo. Tune in to hear some fun thoughts as well about a prank of our own: an April Fool's post about a brand-new DeLillo novel we put on social media a few weeks ago. On Super Bowl Sunday, Pastor Dawn took the opportunity to let the world know that God has chosen us to win, and that Jesus is our Champion! God said in our prophetic word for this year that He is intersecting Heaven and earth, so we can put our faith on partnering with Him in “going for the touchdown” for the BIG win. It is all for souls saved and people living their life for Jesus as Lord and Savior! Several testimonies from football star Tim Tebow inspired us to see that it is the things we do with God's heart for others (fishing for souls) that gets us to the end zone! Prayer changes things, and the people of God have to “take it by force” for the final win! We speak into the spiritual realm and take back our joy, take back our children from the land of the enemy, take our health and prosperity back, and openly proclaim Jesus as Lord for the final win! We know Jesus didn't come here to lose!

This week we are discussing "Angels of the Endzone." This sequel we wanted to tackle because of the impending big game. This is a movie that was super depressing with no lovable characters and lacked of knowledge of football. This movie had a high school bully who was the bookie, the creepy school shrink, the rag-tag group of football players, and a ton more. Enjoy the big game! Watch the Unedited Video Review at sequelsonly.com/Angels The next week is our interview with Kate Twa who played an angel in this week's movie. Chris critiques the NFL's handling of important issues, focusing on the league's anti-racism initiatives and rule enforcement. They call out the “End Racism” message at the end zones as superficial virtue signaling, referencing past trends of social activism through ribbons and social media posts. He also expresses frustration with the NFL's officiating, predicting poor calls during the Super Bowl and criticizing inconsistent rule applications, especially regarding quarterback protection. They argue that the overprotection of quarterbacks makes the game less enjoyable for fans and players, lamenting how the NFL's direction impacts the sport's integrity. If you're tired of seeing these issues unfold, join the conversation and hear the speaker's honest take on the current state of the NFL. www.watchdogonwallstreet.com
