Indy talks about a 90s hip-hop classic: E. 1999 Eternal by Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Samantha ends an era with the docuseries Taylor Swift: The End of an Era, then we preview next week's big watch, the Zhang Yimou period drama Raise the Red Lantern. I Love This You Should Too is hosted by Samantha and Indy Randhawa 1999 Eternal is the second album by American hip-hop group Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, released July 25, 1995, on Ruthless Records. The album was released four months after the death of gangsta rapper Eazy-E, the group's mentor and the executive producer of the album. Both the album and single "Tha Crossroads" are dedicated to him. Following up on the surprise success of their breakthrough single "Thuggish Ruggish Bone", it became a popular album and received positive reviews from music critics, earning praise for the group's melodic rapping style. The album title is a portmanteau of Cleveland's eastside neighborhood centering on East 99th Street and St. Clair Avenue where the group is based and the then-future year 1999. Taylor Swift: The End of an Era is a 2025 American documentary miniseries about the singer-songwriter Taylor Swift's sixth concert tour, the Eras Tour (2023–2024), directed by filmmakers Don Argott and Sheena M. Joyce. The series consists of six episodes that follow the lives of Swift and her crew during the tour. It began streaming on Disney+ on December 12, 2025.   Raise the Red Lantern is a 1991 period drama film directed by Zhang Yimou and starring Gong Li. It is an adaptation by Ni Zhen of the 1990 novella Raise the Red Lantern (originally Wives and Concubines) by Su Tong. A Chinese-Hong Kong co-production, the film was later adapted into a ballet of the same title by the National Ballet of China, also directed by Zhang. Set during the Warlord Era in the 1920s, the film tells the story of a young woman who becomes the fourth wife of a wealthy man. It was the fourth of nine collaborations between Zhang and Gong.

The year was 1995. Bill Clinton was president. The internet was still just a flicker in Al Gore's eye. Gas was $1.15 a gallon, and a group of rapid-fire harmonizing rappers from Cleveland, Ohio, was disrupting the whole East vs. West narrative with a completely new sound and approach. Under the wing of Eazy-E, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony kicked in the door with their debut EP Creepin' on a Come Up. Their follow-up, E. 1999 Eternal, didn't just build on that momentum; it launched them into the stratosphere. Powered by world-conquering singles like “1st of tha Month” and the Grammy-winning “Tha Crossroads,” the album went on to sell over four million copies. It also debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, which was a huge deal for a Midwestern rap group at the time. On this week's episode of the Dad Bod Rap Pod, Nate, Dave, and DEM revisit this 1995 classic to assess how it has aged and how much cultural relevance it holds thirty years later. When I was 13 years of age.  I was inspired to write music by Bone Thugs N Harmony.  Their song called Tha Crossroads" hit me the most.  I started listening to everything they made from Creppin on a Come Up to Uni5.   Each and everyday in school I would get my pen and pad and write down lyrics.  I was and still all about music.  I love it.  You can reach so many people by telling your story.  I want to let the world know of my talent of making lyrics but also inspire those around me.  Life is too short.  You only live one life.  The impact you have within yourself can bring a monumental impact to others.   I take rap seriously because I rap with  purpose.  And my purpose is not only to be the best that I can be.  But show others that you can do whatever you wish so long as you work hard on your craft, believe in yourself and reach for the stars.   Back when I first started flowing. Everyone who knew me said I flowed too fast.  You sound like Bone.  You live in the east coast.  You need to sound like NY rappers.  I didn'  agree with their assessment but there was some truth to the things I heard from them.  I told myself I wanted to sound like me.  I wanted to be different.   I want people to love my music for the effort I put in in writing my lyrics.  My catchy bars, my tonality, my command to the beat, my confidence and swagger.  I want to make you press rewind with some deep truths, illusions and alluring words I put in a creative piece.  I always considered myself a deep person.  Someone who can see through the layers in all things.  So I made my mantra of who I am as a person by putting it in my music.     -Mr.Reaper

K&D are well-known to incorporate acid jazz, dub, house, atmospheric drum & bass, hip-hop, bossa nova, funk, soul and beyond into their trademark, succulent sonic gumbo.  The duo built up a lengthy résumé of remixes for a diverse smattering of artists, including Roni Size, David Holmes, Depeche Mode, and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony. Several of these were aggregated on the landmark double-album The K&D Sessions (1998), which was lavished with much critical acclaim upon release and its reputation continues to age like a fine wine. Over the years, the two producers remained active with solo work and adjacent projects (most notably Tosca, Dorfmeister's duo with Rupert Huber, and Peter with Peace Orchestra). 1995, a fantastic full-length studio album of original material that had been mysteriously shelved for a quarter century, was unearthed and released in 2020.
