Quest'anno il festival arriva in un momento particolare per la città marchigiana: pochi mesi fa, durante i lavori di riqualificazione di piazza Andrea Costa, sono riemersi i resti della basilica progettata da Marco Vitruvio Pollione, l'unico edificio che il celebre trattatista dichiara esplicitamente di aver costruito nelle pagine del De Architectura. Una scoperta inseguita da quasi cinquecento anni di ricerche, ipotesi e false piste — già nel 2022 e nel 2023 alcuni ritrovamenti in via Vitruvio avevano fatto pensare alla basilica, senza però trovare conferma — e che il ministro della Cultura Alessandro Giuli ha definito uno spartiacque capace di dividere la storia dell'archeologia in un prima e un dopo.Non stupisce dunque che il tema scelto per l'edizione 2026 sia "Il senso della misura. Idee, città, civiltà. Da Vitruvio al presente": un filo che lega l'architetto romano nato a Fano — allora Fanum Fortunae — alle città di oggi, interrogandosi su come si costruiscono, materialmente e culturalmente, i luoghi in cui viviamo. Presentando l'immagine guida della rassegna — una poltrona composta da laterizi e pietre, con la data MMXXVI incisa e una copia del De Architectura appoggiata al bracciolo — lo stesso Belfiori ha spiegato che l'intento era restituire visivamente il dialogo tra modernità e antichità che attraversa l'intero programma del festival.Cinque giorni, oltre trecento tra autori e relatori, centododici libri presentati, quindici sedi tra centro storico e lungomare: i numeri di Passaggi 2026 confermano la vocazione di una manifestazione che, partita nel 2013 da una sala da duecentocinquanta posti, è arrivata a trasformare l'intera città in quella che Belfiori ama definire una "biblioteca diffusa". Tra gli ospiti annunciati per questa edizione figurano Giuseppe Conte, la giornalista Tonia Mastrobuoni (Premio Andrea Barbato 2026), Massimo Franco (Premio Passaggi 2026) e il presidente del comitato scientifico del festival Nando Dalla Chiesa, accanto a volti noti del giornalismo e dello spettacolo come Mario Giordano, Ivan Zazzaroni, Paola Perego ed Enzo Iacchetti.Come da tradizione, il festival si chiuderà domenica 28 giugno con la lectio magistralis legata al tema dell'edizione.
