We hope you have an awesome day!   Plenty to recap this week as we are coming out of the Strong Yet Small event, Community Day weekend, and the start of the Beloved Buddies. With what seems less like filler events, this last week has brought us new Pokémon, Shinies, and move sets. The calendar doesn't show any signs of slowing down, as this weekend brings us Hoopa Unbound Raid Day.    We put together a little Raid Guide and Battle Party for Hoopa and encourage all Trainers to prepare 1 or 2 Battle Parties in advance. With the ability to dui, you will want to make sure you maximize your time in the Raid to get the highest damage output possible. It's not often that Bug Pokémon take the stage, but Hoopa will be taking double super effective damage from them this weekend!   The latest Save the Date blog has the community talking as it is becoming harder and harder to maintain a healthy game-life balance. Should it be left to Niantic to manage our priorities, or does the onus fall on the Trainer to decide how they spend their time. It's a great topic and one that we feel will continue to be a part of the zeitgeist for the foreseeable future.   This month is still packed with events as we have Scattered To The Winds, the Road to Unova, and of course Unova Tour IRL and GLobal closing out the month. Is it even possible for the average Trainer to keep up with the schedule, or should they not even be concerned with playing every event? The FOMO is real, and it may be time for many Trainers to make decisions about their priorities.   In closing we briefly discuss Fuecoco COmmunity Day which will be the first of the next season. GO Tour: Unova will feature some Notable Trainers that you can meet and hang out with. Lured Up Podcast 332 Record Date - 12/30/24 Publish Date - 1/3/25   2024 is a wrap and this has been an incredible year of Pokémon GO. We saw a slate of new mechanics and features along with an absolutely packed calendar of events. The development of the Community Ambassador program has brought players back outside. Was 2024 the perfect setup for the next 5 years of Pokémon GO? We think so!   We break down the close of the 2024 calendar with a recap of the last week of gameplay. With the events filling every week and weekend of the month, we dig into what makes an event feel worth it, and what could make it feel like filler. With the game asking more and more of its players, are we seeing Trainers decide to opt out of specific events, or does FOMO still have a solid grip on the player base.    As we roll into January, the stage is already set. With the quick New Years event and Charged Embers Hatch Day leading right into Fidough Fetch and Sprigatito Community Day. Combined with Max Mondays, Spotlight Hour and Raid Hour, hardcore Trainers will have their mettle tested if they want to be the best. We just aren't sure if Trainers are ready for that degree of commitment, when the game is continuously asking them for more time over more days.   We take a stroll down memory lane and look back at the different Seasons of 2024. It started with Timeless Travels and  has since brought us a constant flow of new features, Pokémon, events and mechanics. The GO Fest window was absolutely nuts this year, with Global being only one week after NYC. Since then, Wild Area and the release of DMAX/GMAX has fundamentally changed the way we all play. One thing is for certain, playing this game outside and with a group has never been better nor more accessible. We discuss how the nerfs impacted the community, and whether or not we think they should stick around. Our experiences with Gengar were expectedly different, however Adam shares some glimmers of hope that he has stumbled on in his area.   Next Season's Save the Date is here and is packed with events, including our two-day Community Day yearly wrap up. We should all feel confident that additional events are still to be announced, but we would be remiss if we didn't discuss just how full the calendar has become. It isn't just events, but limited timed events like Spotlight Hours and Raid Days. The calendar is packed with them, creating a very destination event style gameplay loop.  We dig in to what the packed calendar means for casuals and core Trainers, and how FOMO is bound to make a strong return next Season. We are eager to hear your feedback on how you feel having events happening every weekend, 3 times during the week, and overarching throughout the month. Lured Up Podcast 316 Record Date - 8/8/2024 Publish Date - 8/11/2024   If battling Team GO Rocket is your thing then you have been lucky all week. With Adventure Week being Taken Over by Team GO Rocket, this week was packed with new Shadows and the chase for Giovanni and his Shadow Cresselia. The big news of the week however, warns you not to do too many Team GO Rocket encounters as it could get you banned. We dive in headfirst and talk about how this ban is not too difficult to trigger if you are spending a day grinding the event.   Mega Rayquaza came back in non-Elite Raids and it ended up being a successful day of gaming for many. With a Raid Hour format and Elite Raid style scheduling, it turned out to be an all new type of Raid Event. Time will tell if this will become the new normal, but it definitely felt great to have some scheduled and dedicated Raid windows.   Beldum Community Day Classic has been announced and this Pokémon will absolutely bring Trainers out to play. With Mega Metagross on the horizon, plus excellent use in PvP and PvE, this is a chance for different disciplines of Trainers to come together for a Community Day experience.    We wrap up with a conversation about some typos in Niantic Tweets, which when corrected, become easy bait for the Twitter mob to gobble up. Over the last few weeks we have seen a ton of activity come from from Niantic Support, retracting and clarifying many bits of communication along with explaining gameplay issues. We have plenty to unpack and plenty to compare opinions over! We begin with a recap of Weather Week and our current feelings on Verdant Wonders. Is Zarude the new Galarian Mr. Mime? With a $7.99 Ticket and a boring task progression, Zarude may take the cake as the most overpriced ticket when you combine it with the Wonder Ticket and other one offs that are constantly being hurled our way.   The April Content Update is here and there is plenty to dig into. Next month will bring us a new Mega, first time Shiny Legendaries, and a spattering of events to keep every type of Trainer engaged. How happy they will be is a different story, as Some Trainers are starting to feel the burn of the same old, same old for the last 7 years.   As we peek into our early April Events like Sizeable Surprises and Bagon Community Day Classic, we can both agree that the month will be starting off strong. With Bagon having the ability to help new Trainers hit their Dragon-Type medal and end-game Trainers hunt for the perfect Mega ready Salamence.   After touching on a few International tidbits of news, we dig into the big topic of the week. PGO Twitter's Super-Villian, MasterWarlord01 has struck again. We look back on the FleeceKing situation and how it created a lot more concerns than just those regarding security. With many Trainer's feeling like chopped liver about Fleece's special treatment, we try to look at it objectively, to validate their feelings, but counterpoint for Niantic. The PvP Community is in turmoil as a wave of DM screenshots were released that showed leaders of PvP in a negative light. With a former staffer of GO Stadium airing it all out, JRHonda from GO Stadium has resigned. We are confident we will be feeling the waves of this shake up in the coming weeks.   In gameplay news, recap our last week of Training includingGO Battle Weekend and the Detective Pikachu event. The Ticket of Treats pseudo Battle-Pass is underway with with the first of four Timed Research. Timburr Community Day still doesn't really feel right but we are excited to have Guzzlord to whoop on this week. We close things out with a little Battle Party to get you ready.   After a week like this on Social Media and within our Communities, it is important to remember that we are all here to play a game and have fun. We all have different ways that we connect with the game, and we have varying levels of engagement from casual to hardcore. That being said this week reminds us to hold true to your values and stand up to adversity. Lured Up Podcast 285 Record Date - 9/30/2023 Publish Date - 10/1/2023    As we move into the second month of Adventures Abound, we have plenty to reflect on including Azurill Hatch Day, the Out To Play Event, and even a smattering of vanilla spawns. With Timburr Community Day being announced, we are all scratching our heads a bit wondering why we don't have a ghost type instead. Perhaps we will see a spooky Community Day Classic? New events are on the horizon with a celebration of the Detective Pikachu game on Switch as well as a GO Battle Weekend to grind through. While Detective Pikachu may feel like a filler event, at least the Battlers will stay busy earning some sweet rewards next weekend. In an exciting turn, Niantic has announced the Ticket of Treats, a month long Battle Pass style ticket that gives weekly Timed Research. Could this be a preview of what's to come with a subscription model?   Finally we revisit the Wayfarer drama on Twitter as more reports of Suspensions are coming in. We follow along with one suspension in particular and work through the timeline while sharing our thoughts. It is an interesting one, that regardless of outcome, has each side of the fence claiming it as their own. We recap our last week of gameplay including our experience with Global GO Fest and how the Season is ending on a high note! Niantic isn't slowing the pace down at all as we have a brand new Season to discuss, Adventures Abound! An absolutely packed September will keep us very occupied as we adjust to the encounter and bonus shift for the next three months.   Some of the most exciting early news on the Season is that we have the ability to earn another Master Ball! This comes to us through a very lengthy Timed Research which reopens the conversation around difficulty in Pokémon GO. We have mentioned before that investments of time, daily play, and money are the typical factors that  make this game easier or harder for its Trainers. This new Research will test how we combine those three factors to complete the significantly long tasks!   The new Season also brings a jump over Gen 8 to Paldea, as we have a fresh beginning featuring the Paldean starters! Niantic has made this feel like a fresh starting point for new Trainers and a way to really spice things up for existing Trainers. We discuss our thoughts on how Galar is taking the back seat to Paldea, and how a bunch of new Pokémon being released is an exciting way to get Trainers in front of their phones.   Adventures Abound also brings us a very large GBL move update with new moves and a ton of availability that is sure to shake up the meta! While the Festival of Colors event was well received, a disastrous Elite Raid showing diminished any positivity that the community at large had in them. It was a stress and anxiety filled Raid event, and the majority of Trainers left feeling terrible about the game and their experience. Timing couldn't have been worse for Niantic as they had just released a blog post confirming their commitment to real world play.    What will Niantic need to do in order to get out of this hole? For sure they will need to make good on the event, but also show us they can release a product that functions properly on a consistent basis. The optimist in us hopes that the Let's GO and Team GO Rocket Takeover events go off without a hitch. Lured Up Podcast 238 Record Date - 10/19/2022 Publish Date - 10/23/2022   We have another packed show this week having a consistent drip feed of event information released over the last week. This is on top of a busy week of gameplay as the Festival of Lights wrapped up and Elite Raids were launched. We had a bit of everything this week.   While Elite Raids looked like an amazing idea on paper, unfortunately their release did not go smoothly in-game. From overloads of locked out gyms, the overlap of Community Day, and technical issues, the Elite Raid launch felt rushed and not thought out. Luckily, the Community is so in favor of the feature that they were pretty level headed and constructive with their feedback. We will sift through some of the best comments we saw.   The Halloween Event is packed with things to do however another bad batch of boxes may keep Trainer activity low. With a huge drop off from the 2021 Halloween boxes, even with Shiny Noibat being locked to 7km eggs, we may not see too many Trainers jumping into the mix this time around.   Finally we run through the upcoming Dia De Muertos event that will be rolling into November. We also touch on some political news which may impact the event as well.   The big news of the week was the announcement of the Bug Out Event. This event is a fan favorite and has the potential to be powered up by the Ultra Unlock Bonus from GO Fest: Sapporo. The announcement also reveals that Shiny Venipede, Mega Scizor, and Genesect with a Chill Drive will be released. Lured Up Podcast 220 Record Date - 5/19/2022 Publish Date - 5/20/2022   There is a ton of news to cover this week as we prepare to say goodbye to the Season of Alola. With the Water Festival giving way to a last chance at Seasonal Spawns before the Alola to Alola event sweeps in, we still have plenty to do before we close the month. First we look back over the last week and how both the Water Festival and the Safari Zone in Seville have gone over great with the Community. This may have been the first week in a while where the general social sentiment was on the positive side of the fence.   Two announcements came this week involving Amazon Prime Gaming. First is a collaboration with Prime Student to bring May Community Day activations to select Universities. We think this is a great initiative and an awesome way to execute on some grass roots marketing. Next up is PGO being added to Prime Gaming Loot which will give Prime users some items to redeem every month.   In massive news, Niantic Social will be seeing a ton of new features come to Pokémon GO in the near future, some of which will be part of a stand alone Niantic App. We could see “near” in game communication and coordination come with this new app, which has been tested by select Ingress Agents in a closed beta over the last few months. It will be very interesting to see how the community adopts this tool and how it may disrupt existing Discord servers.   With Ticket Gifting going live in game we move on to the Alola to Alola event which will close out the month. While we still have questions on how the bonus ticket will work, Trainers will have some agency in how they choose to complete their last Special Research of the Season. Lured Up Podcast 218 Record Date - 4/28/22 Publish Date - 4/30/22   We held off on recording live earlier in the week in order to maintain our embargo on the late week news! We start off with the Mega system revamp that we have all been waiting for! Niantic may have finally hit a home run as this update really engages you with the mechanic and makes it seem worth it to Mega Evolve! Hopefully our Mega Kangaskhan Mega Moment will go well with all the damage boosts!   Pokémon Air Adventures is next on the calendar and we have our first taste of Mega Legendary Raids! Mega Latias and Latios bring new moves and potentially a new level of Raid Difficulty! The revamp of the Mega Energy System will help all Trainers that choose to Raid going forward!   The Pokémon GO TCG Expansion has been revealed! We now have our first look at the card art which brings Pokémon into the real world, while still continuing the great tradition of artwork that we know and love. From Full Art Team Leader Trainers to Snorlax blocking a walkway, this expansion will undoubtedly cross over Trainers from GO to the TCG and vice versa.   The May Content Update is here and while we don't have too many details, we do know that it will be packed with events. It seems Niantic has settled in on a pace that gives us a few days to breathe between events where we can also score the exciting vanilla Seasonal Spawns.   Finally, we Poke The Bear over the impact that Remote Raiding has had on the game and local communities. While we all love to Remote Raid, contemplating what has been lost at their expense is a bit eye opening. Niantic will have their hands full trying to balance this out, and we don't think the Community will be ready to accept any of it! Gotta Watch'em All Podcast 123 Recording Date - 4/12/2022 Publish Date - 4/14/2022   With last episode being filled with action and laughs, we had high hopes for Once In A Blue Moon. Unfortunately, this episode fell a bit short with a less than compelling story and an ending that left both of us confused as to what the point of the show was. While it was great to see Professor Oak and the GS Ball, there was nothing of substance that gave us any additional insight into what the GS Ball even is!   As for other news, we discuss the 25th Anniversary of the Anime and the montage video that Pokémon put together to celebrate. They also tease the return of Greninja in Master Journeys, which is very exciting, especially as we don't know the context about its return.   A new video documentary has been released about the Pokémon Live stage show and how it almost took Broadway by storm. While seeming painfully low budget, the show actually toured the world and was successful. It is very interesting how little was actually known about the show, until now. For whatever reason, this event hit the mark with Trainers even though it didn't include any new Pokémon or bonuses. It was just an all around good old fashioned hunt.   The All-Hands Rocket Event has Battlers rejoicing and grinders loving the interaction with TGR. While no one really understood the name of the event, it was a great opportunity to fill in our Shadow Dexes and TM away Frustration.   Community Day meetups have been announced at locations around the world and Adam and I hope to be hitting up NYC for Stufful! Niantic released three blogs at the same time this week in preparation for The Season Of Heritage! There is plenty of Hoopa Hoopla to get through before we even get into December, so we begin by recapping the Mischief Unbound Event. With a weekend filled with Raid and Spotlight Hours, there was plenty to do to send off the Season of Mischief.    Not to be undone, the Season of Heritage is beginning with a bang with a few new ways to progress through the Narrative. With Monthly bonuses and Timed Research, December should have a more immersive story structure than we have seen in the last few months. This time around the Team Leaders will work with Professor Willow to unravel the mysteries of a giant cave. Lured Up Podcast 201 Record Date - 11/23/21 Publish Date - 11/27/21   Happy Thanksgiving! THere is plenty to be thankful for in life and in Pokémon GO this week! We had an absolute blast through the Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl event, with catching and raiding and hatching, oh my! On a serious note, we were exceptionally relieved to finally fill in the Mime Jr. Pokédex entry. We are scratching our heads a bit as to why the entire 7km egg pool was listed as the same rarity when Riolu and Mime Jr. were clearly more rare than the others.   We move on to the most bizarre collab between Pokémon GO and Ed Sheeran. The strangest part of it all was that it worked so well! From an in game video performance to in game music, we really hope to see more of this as time goes on.    Finally we have the conclusion of the Hoopa Special Research which brings the debut of the Hoopa Unbound forme change! With a mechanic similar to Furfrou, we will revisit the topic to see if the finale of the Season long Special Research.
