This week on the pod, things are getting wild—because nothing screams "totally ethical government" like a Tesla dealership popping up on the White House lawn! Yep, Trump casually rolled up to his new South Lawn Tesla dealership—complete with a free, live-streamed commercial on Musk's X platform. Ethics, schmethics! And hey, nothing screams "I'm totally into electric vehicles now" like last year's EV-hating candidate sitting in a Cybertruck and shouting out Elon Musk's patriotic greatness. Seems legit.Speaking of questionable decisions, Casey Anthony's back—again—because who wouldn't trust parenting advice from someone with her…unique qualifications? Casey's now on TikTok, claiming she's here to advocate for Caylee and give legal advice. Definitely sounds promising, right? Her attorney called it out perfectly: it's not about redemption; it's about clicks, controversy, and a chance to remind us all (again) how tragic her past is. Shocker. Finally, because the mobile gaming world just wasn't complete, Scopely now owns Pokémon Go. Yep, that Scopely—the folks famous for games like "Yahtzee with Buddies." Niantic handed over their golden goose, along with Monster Hunter Now and Pikmin Bloom. So get ready for your augmented-reality addiction to hit new heights—or new monetization nightmares. Probably both. This week's lineup has it all: ethical gymnastics at the White House, Casey Anthony's latest attempt at relevancy, and the corporate takeover of your childhood nostalgia. We start off by talking about Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 and its current performance in VR, which has a long way to go to become stable. I finally went through Digital Eclipse's Gold Master Series of Tetris Forever, and I loved it, but people who just want the games may not be feeling it. Sony has submitted a proposal to purchase Kadokawa Corporation, which owns many anime and manga companies, but also FromSoftware, the developers behind Dark Souls and Elden Ring. Steam has issued new rules about DLC and season passes which are very pro consumer but make things more difficult for publishers who can't accurately predict release dates. Itch.io now requires AI disclosure for all products, and are making every project declare if they used GenAI in the development of what they are selling. Then we talk to Rob about Pikmin Bloom.

(0:00:34) Codey: My name is Cody and we are here today to talk about cottage core games. (0:00:36) Bev: And my name is Pav. (0:00:37) Bev: Bye! (0:00:40) Codey: Woo. (0:00:43) Codey: Uh, as always, transcripts are available in the show notes and on the website. (0:00:46) Codey: And today this episode, we are talking about window garden, the lo-fi idol game, super cute, um, been very excited to talk about this. (0:00:54) Bev: Mm-hmm. (0:00:56) Codey: We’ve been playing it for a few months now. (0:00:58) Bev: Mm-hmm. (0:00:59) Codey: I’m excited to hear how far you are, but we haven’t talked about it at all. (0:01:01) Bev: Mm-hmm. (0:01:02) Codey: Um, and so, um, yeah, so that’s the, the main topic. (0:01:09) Codey: Uh, we always, as always have some news. (0:01:11) Codey: There’s some, some interesting news going on today. (0:01:15) Codey: Uh, but before that, uh, Beth, what have you been up to? (0:01:18) Bev: I have been dying at work, but in terms of what I’ve been playing, I’ve been doing a lot of Marvel Strike Force recently. I got back into that for whatever reason. I thought, (0:01:35) Bev: yes, I need a gacha game back into my life. In addition to keeping up with Twisted Wonderland, (0:01:43) Bev: I’m not doing so much in the way of console games because I just feel like I don’t have a (0:01:48) Bev: lot of time for it, but I did recently get the old Jedi game. Was it Fallen Order? (0:01:54) Codey: Mmm, okay, okay (0:01:56) Bev: Not Jedi Survivor because that’s a new one, but the previous one because it was on sale from May the 4th. I have like an hour in there since then. How about you? (0:02:03) Codey: Okay, okay (0:02:05) Codey: cool, uh (0:02:07) Bev: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. (0:02:08) Codey: Well, I also it has been a while since we talked about your background garden (0:02:13) Codey: Do you like your backyard garden? Do you have do you still have that? Is that still a thing? Is it getting up getting ready? (0:02:18) Bev: We do. (0:02:22) Bev: So it was falling into disarray over the winter and at the end of, I think, (0:02:27) Bev: fall of last year. (0:02:29) Bev: But now it’s spring, so it’s a whole new year and we’ve reset. (0:02:33) Bev: We actually redid our whole backyard. (0:02:37) Bev: So we got new pavers in and no longer have to deal with weeds anymore, (0:02:41) Bev: which is fantastic. (0:02:44) Bev: So we also bought like new like furniture. (0:02:48) Bev: Out there, so we’re actually gonna get to sit outside like in an umbrella and have enjoyment in our space without a whole bunch of stuff everywhere. (0:02:59) Bev: Since we just, it was getting bad, so we got rid of a lot of stuff back there. (0:03:06) Bev: Cuz I had like working projects for houses, the house, and that just never happened. (0:03:11) Bev: And then we’re like, we’re just gonna accept that this is a project that is no longer taking place. (0:03:15) Codey: yeah that is the worst when you have to like I’m about actually probably also about to have to do that because I have a roommate moving in and I have to clean out this room and so there’s gonna be like a lot of stuff that’s like okay I’ve had a this this thing for this hard drive for forever that I said I was gonna go through I don’t even remember what’s on it do I actually need this like I don’t know or I’ll just throw it in that memory box and maybe one day I’ll do it, but I don’t need to have it on my desk anymore. (0:03:32) Bev: Mhm. Mhm. Right, exactly. Like at one point, like it’s been a year or so that this project hasn’t been worked on. So it’s like, is it, is it actually going to happen at this point? Probably not. So we bought some new like herbs and have them hanging instead of in the… (0:03:50) Codey: Yeah. Yeah. (0:04:02) Bev: the bed. We haven’t used the bed yet. Um, because last time it got like, we got overgrown too quickly with the squashes and tomatoes. So we’re like, we’re gonna start smaller and have them separate so that they don’t get angry and start quarreling with each other. Um, and uh, uh, my partner, uh, Taylor has been mostly, uh, working on the backyard, but they’ve been enjoying the the gardening much more. (0:04:04) Codey: Okay. (0:04:08) Codey: Uh-huh. (0:04:10) Codey: Okay. (0:04:32) Bev: I’m going to try to get a little bit more of a look at what happened. (0:04:32) Codey: Mm-hmm. Well, it’s lovely though that it’s there and like you can get out there and and do some stuff if you want But that it’s also not gonna (0:04:35) Bev: Uh-huh. (0:04:36) Bev: Uh-huh, uh-huh, uh-huh, uh-huh, uh-huh. (0:04:44) Codey: Unlike my at my yard (0:04:46) Codey: My my backyard just got fenced and I was I had these grand designs of like, oh I’m gonna clean this I’m gonna do this. I’m gonna do that (0:04:56) Codey: And yeah, it’s not (0:04:58) Codey: surprise I mean every now and then I’d go out there with the dogs and I kick the ball for them and then they find like a stick to chew on or whatever and they like chill and then I’ll go out and pull some pull up some of that garlic mustard, ooh garlic mustard it’s the worst, pull up some of that pull up some other stuff that is just a non-native that is taking over the beds because there’s excuse me there’s a couple of areas where there’s not grass that I could make like wildflower beds and then I do also have a raised fenced bed that I am hoping to– (0:05:12) Bev: Mm-hmm, yeah. (0:05:26) Bev: Mm-hmm. (0:05:34) Codey: I don’t want to put veggies in this year, but I should probably be doing that like now, I guess. (0:05:34) Bev: I mean, there’s still time. (0:05:40) Codey: So we’ll see. (0:05:43) Bev: It doesn’t have to be now, like. (0:05:44) Codey: I really want zucchinis because I love just the, like, always having zucchini, like– (0:05:52) Codey: I love hearing from my friends who have zucchini plants that they’re like, “It just won’t stop.” (0:05:56) Codey: Like, I just want that. I want to make zucchini bread, like, every week, you know? (0:05:57) Bev: Mm-hmm. (0:06:00) Codey: or be the person that’s like zucchinis are like falling. (0:06:02) Codey: out of my pockets and I’m like “please take my zucchinis” because I have friends that are that way but I want to be that person just once in my life. Just once. (0:06:08) Bev: Uh-huh, uh-huh, uh-huh, mix-ups. Um, we also got our fence re-did, um, (0:06:17) Bev: which is nice because now you don’t have, like, those, those, like, (0:06:21) Bev: gaps in between the, the slots, I guess, or the, whatever they’re called. Um, (0:06:26) Bev: So it feels like we have a lot more. (0:06:27) Bev: Privacy and our decrepit gate is not just like Hank literally just being supported by the fence (0:06:35) Bev: because it’s not connected at that point. (0:06:39) Bev: And we set up a zipline for the cats so we can bring them out. (0:06:42) Codey: My gosh (0:06:45) Codey: So like you just clip them to the zipline and they get to do whatever they want. Oh my gosh freaking adorable (0:06:53) Bev: And got some bird feeders so we can attract (0:06:58) Bev: the birds so the cats can look at them and get some enrichment through the windows. (0:07:02) Codey: Yeah. (0:07:05) Bev: I know one thing that Taylor had mentioned like we want to do is like maybe possibly using the beds for like just local pollinator plants but (0:07:14) Bev: we haven’t gotten around to doing that so I think we’ll probably be planting that as well. (0:07:18) Bev: Mm-hmm. (0:07:19) Codey: I mean that works either way like it’s you know either you’re even even a lot of like fruits and vegetables that you might grow in there are gonna produce a flower usually at some point but yeah depending on if you’re living in a really urban environment it might be good to to also have some some of that pollinator flowers as well to support the local populations (0:07:30) Bev: Mm-hmm. (0:07:32) Bev: Mm-hmm. (0:07:42) Bev: Yeah, it’s not super urban, but it’s pretty suburban so I wouldn’t mind, like just having some more and it feels like I think Taylor’s probably thinking it’s going to be less work than the veggies, but I don’t know if that’s actually the case or not, but yeah, exactly. (0:07:47) Codey: Mm-hmm (0:07:49) Codey: Yeah Yeah. (0:07:59) Codey: I mean you’re gonna have to weed in there for sure and it depending on what kind of wildflower mixes you spread it might be difficult to determine what’s the weed and what was meant to be in there I think that’s the issue that I always have with that kind of stuff so my plan for wildflowers this year is literally while I’m doing my field research just grab seed pods be like oh that I can tell this is a goldenrod from last year I’m just gonna yoink grab everything (0:08:12) Bev: Mm-hm, mm-hm, mm-hm. (0:08:22) Bev: Ooh, yes. (0:08:29) Codey: if there are any seed pods that didn’t like dispense their seeds and just toss them in my backyard and hope that they grow milkweed goldenrod lots of different goldenrods that are that are native to this area that just support a plethora of things on the non gardening side I have been playing Disney Dreamlight Valley I now almost have Daisy all the way maxed out and Mike Wazowski who are the only two characters that I did not (0:08:36) Bev: Beautiful. (0:08:39) Bev: Mm-hmm. (0:08:44) Bev: Mm-hmm. (0:08:54) Bev: Oh yay! (0:08:59) Codey: have all the way maxed out so I am about to be done on that and then I would have to pay for content to have content I think I’ll just wait though and then Minecraft Fox still going strong and never posted pictures like I said I would last week but I did I did I took them so I I have a bunch of I have a bunch of pictures I just never posted them so yeah I have that still going on The tail is now finished and I’m now working on the body. (0:09:00) Bev: Mm-hmm. (0:09:02) Bev: Amazing. (0:09:06) Bev: Mm-hmm. (0:09:08) Bev: Mm-hmm. (0:09:18) Bev: You’re halfway there! (0:09:29) Codey: And we’re building up the sanctuary part of it that’s on the top, which is really cute. (0:09:34) Codey: There’s just foxes all over and then I’m trying to find what I want to play next. (0:09:39) Codey: And I went on Game Pass and there were a bunch of those like simulation games like power washing simulator and like cooking simulator. (0:09:50) Codey: And I was like, oh, I want to try some of these. (0:09:53) Codey: I love watching videos of people power wash. (0:09:54) Bev: Mm-hmm. (0:09:56) Codey: Let me try this. (0:09:59) Codey: But I do also have one of my best friends is playing SnowRunner, which is like a game where you pilot rescue vehicles to save people from like, like if they’re stuck in the snow or whatever, or you’re, or you also just like deliver things in the snow, and they have a bunch of different types of vehicles that you can use. (0:10:10) Bev: Ooh, okay. (0:10:13) Bev: Uh-huh. (0:10:21) Codey: And you, I guess you can play that multiplayer cross platform so he could, he could be like, well, I’m going to grab this, this vehicle and I know that we’re going to need. (0:10:24) Bev: Cool. Okay. (0:10:29) Codey: This other vehicle. So can you go grab that real quick and I’ll be like, heck yeah. And then I’ll run them off the road because I’m a menace to society. (0:10:32) Bev: Mm-hmm. (0:10:37) Codey: So we’ll see how long that I think it’d be fun though. (0:10:39) Bev: Uh-huh, uh-huh. I forgot Dreamlight Valley was a thing. (0:10:45) Codey: Oh, it’s so good. It is so I mean, I also should probably go back to Coraline when there’s all those updates that are coming out and. (0:10:51) Bev: Uh-huh. (0:10:53) Bev: Yeah, I was playing a lot of Howl Island prior to I think May the 4th and then I stopped then around then. (0:11:00) Bev: and then… (0:11:02) Bev: but (0:11:02) Codey: I think I’m [AUDIO OUT] (0:11:03) Bev: I realized, like, I’m probably gonna wanna start a new island as soon as the 1.1, (0:11:07) Bev: so I was like, “Mmm, maybe I would– this is where I’ll stop for now.” (0:11:11) Codey: Right. (0:11:13) Codey: Yeah, I don’t even think I made it past summer in that game. (0:11:17) Bev: Mm-hmm. (0:11:18) Codey: So I still have a lot that I can do. (0:11:20) Codey: I just– I planted some things. (0:11:22) Codey: And then I was like, ooh, hyperfixing on the ocean cleanup? (0:11:25) Codey: And then that was my life. (0:11:27) Codey: And then every now and then I’d find– (0:11:31) Codey: His name’s not Simon, is it? (0:11:32) Codey: I’m the museum guy. (0:11:33) Bev: Oh, no. Oh, goodness. (0:11:36) Codey: Well, that guy. (0:11:39) Codey: That, that Hoddy McConterton. (0:11:40) Bev: OK, I can picture him, but I can’t see his name. (0:11:44) Codey: Um, that person. (0:11:44) Bev: Oh. Scott. (0:11:47) Codey: I cannot believe I blinked on his name. (0:11:50) Codey: I would go, I just go and give him Scott. (0:11:54) Codey: I knew it started with an X. (0:11:57) Codey: Yeah, I go and give him gifts whenever I see him. (0:12:00) Codey: And sometimes he’s like, “Wow, I love it.” (0:12:06) Bev: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. I realize that mayonnaise works for like everyone essentially. So that’s just been my go-to (0:12:13) Codey: that’s ridiculous I mean the cool thing is he takes like a lot of artifacts and stuff like anything that’s an artifact because he’s a museum guy and so he’s always like wow this is awesome thank you and i’m like heck yeah like I i do sell a lot of them too well so I i give the museum one like i fill in the museum with everything but then um yeah um so yeah other than (0:12:14) Bev: It’s a really weird gift like I want them to comment on how weird it is, but they’re all like oh delicious. Thanks (0:12:25) Bev: Right (0:12:29) Bev: I sell those. I’m like nope. Sorry Scott. I need the money [giggles] (0:12:43) Codey: not just trying to figure out what to do with my life after getting a lot of tattoos and then I gotta say money you got a tattoo yesterday and then I have another one next week so actually another two next week it’s one one sitting but I’m getting one on each of my elbows (0:12:45) Bev: Mm-hmm. (0:12:50) Bev: Uh-huh. (0:12:55) Bev: Beautiful. (0:12:57) Bev: Mm-hmm. (0:13:03) Bev: Wait, on your elbows? (0:13:04) Codey: it’s not gonna be like on the elbow but it’s like the forearm right below the elbow it’s like a symbol so that when I like hold up my arm (0:13:09) Bev: Okay. (0:13:11) Bev: Mm-hmm. (0:13:13) Codey: like I’m gonna fight you you’re gonna see them both you’re gonna be like oh wow she’s got these symbols that are space themed and fire themed like can’t she’s intense I have a I didn’t realize that I have a and one of my forearms is gonna be orange themed and one’s gonna be purple themed so far because yeah I have a lot of like fox stuff on the right one the the right forearm is my fox forearm and that’s the one that’s gonna have fire and it’s going to end up with a minecraft fox and i’m (0:13:21) Bev: » Better back off. (0:13:33) Bev: Oh. (0:13:35) Bev: Mmhmm. (0:13:43) Codey: going to put a elolan volpix and a sh no sorry a regular volpix and a shiny elolan volpix like napping together just like I want like one of them to be like eepin on their back and then the other ones just like has like their head on the tummy of the other one and they’re just eepin I don’t know it just seems so cute to me um but yeah a lot of a lot of orange are going to be on that one and then the other one’s the one with my wormhole which has purple in it and then it’s going to be like a purply space (0:13:50) Bev: Awwww. I love it. (0:14:13) Bev: Beautiful. I recently saw TikTok with someone doing a sword for different degrees. (0:14:14) Codey: i’m not going to stick to that theme though (0:14:25) Bev: So it was themed with the law one having the arms of justice or whatever that’s called. (0:14:30) Codey: Oh, yeah. Mm-hmm. (0:14:33) Bev: And the biology one had a hexagonal shapes with the molecular. There was a marine biology on with like a nurse shark on it. (0:14:43) Bev: And I was like, this is going to be my reward when I finish my degree is I’m going to get this. (0:14:48) Codey: yeah oh yeah have you have you have you explained your news on okay what do we got what do we got I’m drum rolling Woooo! (0:14:51) Bev: I don’t think I’ve done it on the podcast yet. (0:14:58) Bev: So I have been amazing. (0:15:03) Bev: I got into law school and I formally officially accepted so I’ll be starting this fall. (0:15:10) Bev: So, scrambling around trying to get that figured out. (0:15:13) Bev: And remind myself how to do financial aid. (0:15:16) Codey: That’s right, y’all, we’re gonna have a doctor and a lawyer on this podcast. (0:15:19) Bev: Yeah, yeah. (0:15:23) Codey: Don’t mess with us. (0:15:24) Bev: Do not, we cannot come at us at any, any angle. (0:15:29) Codey: I will either stab you with a bunch of pins or pesticide you, (0:15:34) Codey: and then I will be free from the law because I have a lawyer. (0:15:38) Bev: I got your back. (0:15:40) Codey: Homies, help homies. Oh, so funny. (0:15:43) Bev: Aha. (0:15:44) Codey: Congratulations. (0:15:46) Codey: Congratulations. (0:15:46) Codey: That’s so amazing. (0:15:48) Bev: Thank you. (0:15:49) Codey: I know that you were really nervous about that and unsure if you were going to get in. (0:15:52) Bev: Mm-hmm. (0:15:53) Codey: And then when you got it, I remember like gasping really loud and my roommate was like, (0:15:57) Codey: is everything okay? (0:15:58) Codey: And I was like, they got in, they got in. (0:16:00) Codey: And he was just like, he had no idea what was happening. (0:16:04) Codey: And I was like, my friend, they got into law school. (0:16:04) Bev: Aha. (0:16:09) Bev: Aww. (0:16:10) Bev: I think I was also like gasping or something and like Taylor (0:16:13) Bev: was like are you okay I think also similar reaction of like or maybe I i don’t think I screamed um (0:16:16) Codey: Yeah. (0:16:20) Bev: I i think it was like a very quiet like uh I just got into law school or something like that (0:16:25) Codey: It’s so exciting. (0:16:26) Codey: So exciting. (0:16:28) Bev: uh-huh (0:16:29) Codey: Well, we are 18 minutes in. (0:16:31) Codey: Sorry, Al. (0:16:33) Codey: Moving on to the news. (0:16:34) Bev: al loves us um-hmm (0:16:36) Codey: They do. (0:16:39) Codey: Everyone on the podcast, I feel like we can talk for like ever, and he’s not going to cut anything out, because we can all sue you. (0:16:43) Bev: uh-huh (0:16:46) Codey: OK. (0:16:46) Codey: Moving on to the news. (0:16:51) Codey: We’ve got just a small bit of news, (0:16:52) Codey: but it’s interesting this week. (0:16:56) Codey: The fact that the Wholesome Direct is going to be on the 8th of June at noon eastern time, (0:17:02) Codey: because eastern time is all that matters. (0:17:04) Bev: yes do the math (0:17:04) Codey: So if you are in a different time zone, figure it out. (0:17:07) Bev: you uh (0:17:09) Codey: Al said, thank goodness it’s not on a Wednesday again. (0:17:13) Bev: um (0:17:14) Codey: Probably because we record on Wednesdays, (0:17:16) Codey: so we don’t want the news to drop. (0:17:18) Codey: Oh, I guess there was the last time it happened. (0:17:20) Codey: I think we literally watched it together, or watched it, (0:17:23) Codey: And then we were like, okay, let’s go. (0:17:26) Codey: Let’s record. (0:17:27) Codey: It was all super fresh. (0:17:27) Bev: Uh-huh. (0:17:29) Codey: Um, so yeah, that’s going to be June 8th, uh, less than a month. (0:17:33) Codey: And, um, if you don’t know what the wholesome direct is, what are you doing here? (0:17:38) Bev: look into it right (0:17:38) Codey: First, uh, first of all, what are you doing here? (0:17:40) Codey: And second of all, quote, a vibrant lineup of artistic uplifting and emotionally resonant games from developers of all sizes from around the world, developers of all sides, Oh, so like big developers and small developers. (0:17:50) Bev: Mm-hmm, tall ones and short ones, you know. (0:17:51) Codey: I was like, chill children. (0:17:56) Codey: Children develop excited about that. (0:18:00) Codey: Always excited to see what I will begrudgingly send my spend money that I don’t have on for sure. (0:18:06) Bev: right? (0:18:09) Bev: Uh-huh. (0:18:10) Bev: And don’t have time to actually play now. (0:18:12) Bev: No. (0:18:14) Codey: Um, animal cross speaking of money, uh, animal crossing Lego, um, new sets are coming, um, and they, so I think when Al, all we hit, all we (0:18:17) Bev: No. (0:18:25) Codey: the only information that we had at the time that I’ll put this information in was that they’re coming on August 1st. (0:18:31) Codey: There’s a couple of different sets. (0:18:32) Codey: And, uh, there’s a small video of K K slider playing the guitar on Lego. (0:18:38) Codey: Um, and in the video, they say, love that they have to say Lego KK Minifigure (0:18:42) Codey: does not actually sing or move. (0:18:46) Codey: Like that’s, I’m like, what? (0:18:47) Bev: It should. (0:18:51) Bev: Like how dare they advertise a KK Slider that doesn’t actually sing. (0:18:56) Codey: Yeah. (0:18:57) Codey: The audacity. (0:19:00) Codey: So yeah, but since that news dropped, they are out. (0:19:05) Codey: They are not out, but they are on the webs. (0:19:09) Codey: We can see them. (0:19:10) Codey: We can see what there is. (0:19:12) Bev: Mm-hmm. (0:19:12) Codey: They are coming soon. (0:19:15) Codey: So we have two. (0:19:16) Codey: We have at least two so far as of recording. (0:19:19) Codey: We have KK’s concert at the plaza. (0:19:22) Codey: This one is going to be $80. (0:19:26) Codey: Probably not including tax, because that’s how capitalism works. (0:19:32) Codey: In it, we have KK, Isabelle, and Audi? (0:19:36) Codey: Audi? (0:19:37) Codey: I don’t know how people would want to say that. (0:19:39) Bev: Mmm, I don’t know (0:19:40) Codey: OK. (0:19:41) Codey: The Wolf, the orange wolf, who is carrying around a cherry ice cream. (0:19:43) Bev: Mm-hmm (0:19:47) Codey: Looks very cute. (0:19:49) Codey: This set includes the plaza front, a small cafe stand, (0:19:54) Codey: KK’s fan. (0:19:56) Codey: A guitar, a mic, or a cycle box, a boom box, a bunch of other stuff. (0:20:01) Codey: But in the description of this, something caught my attention. (0:20:07) Codey: And nothing in the images on the website explains what this is possibly going to be. (0:20:13) Codey: But, quote, “Just like in the video game, the tree conceals a surprise.” (0:20:22) Codey: They also say, “And the resident’s service flag is customizable.” (0:20:25) Codey: I don’t care about that. (0:20:26) Codey: What? (0:20:29) Codey: The tree? (0:20:30) Bev: Is it just gonna be a leaf that’s gonna fall out? (0:20:33) Bev: What is this mechanic? (0:20:34) Codey: I mean, there is a leaf on the ground in this picture. (0:20:37) Codey: But that’s not like a surprise. (0:20:39) Bev: That’s not a surprise, that’s just an icon that’s falling out. (laughing) (0:20:40) Codey: It’s a leaf off of a tree. (0:20:43) Codey: Is it like a wasp? (0:20:45) Codey: Do we get wasps? (0:20:46) Bev: I want a full, I want a full bed to fall out of it. (0:20:47) Codey: I want the hive. (0:20:50) Codey: Oh my gosh. (0:20:51) Codey: I want to fold a little leaf. (0:20:52) Bev: Like defying, like physics, like just coming out of the tree. (0:20:55) Codey: Oh, you mean the leaf when the symbol of the leaf falls out, (0:21:01) Codey: not the little orange leaves that they have? (0:21:01) Bev: Uh-huh, yeah, like you shake it and then the little, (0:21:05) Bev: yeah, the leaf comes down with the furniture item (0:21:08) Codey: I mean, maybe, but I want the wasp nest, actually. (0:21:10) Bev: or whatever it is. (0:21:14) Bev: Oh, oh, oh, actually I want that now. (laughing) (0:21:17) Codey: Yeah, I love how that, earlier when I was looking at this, (0:21:21) Codey: it said coming soon on August 1st and now on the website. (0:21:25) Codey: I’m coming soon on DATE! (0:21:28) Codey: The website’s having some issues. (0:21:28) Bev: on date, oh dear. (0:21:31) Codey: Um… (0:21:32) Codey: What do you think of this set, Bev? (0:21:32) Bev: Mm. (0:21:35) Bev: I think it looks very cute. (0:21:36) Codey: Mmm? (0:21:37) Codey: laughs I don’t know. (0:21:37) Bev: I think the van’s a little random, (0:21:39) Bev: ‘cause do we even have the van? (0:21:41) Codey: I don’t know. (0:21:42) Bev: And we don’t have the van in the game, (0:21:44) Bev: so it’s just like a nod to a pocket camp, (0:21:45) Codey: Does KK have a van in pocket camp? (0:21:49) Bev: ‘cause I don’t know. (0:21:52) Bev: I feel like there was cute, there were vans in there. (0:21:54) Bev: I don’t know, I haven’t played it in years, don’t quote me. (0:21:55) Codey: No, it opens up like a transformer and he’s inside with what looks like a pizza and a coffee. (0:22:00) Codey: And you can take that, cuz it’s like a camper van, so you can take the top off and the top has, you can put it as a guitar and one of his musics in there. (0:22:09) Bev: I don’t know, it looks very cute, I love how KK Cider looks, but I’m not willing to pay I think $80 for it, AL, I’m sorry, like you can collect them for me. (0:22:09) Codey: It’s just, it’s real, I was, yeah. (0:22:17) Codey: Mm-hm, mm-hm, mm-hm, [LAUGH] al, we need, we need. (0:22:23) Bev: I will live vicariously through you. (0:22:26) Codey: To live, yeah, live vicariously. (0:22:29) Codey: The other one is Fly with Dodo Airlines, and this one is $38 USD. (0:22:35) Codey: It includes Wilbur, the pilot, and Tangy, the cat, Tangy. (0:22:41) Codey: I’ve never been Tangy, okay. (0:22:42) Bev: I feel like Tangy, maybe, or I feel like it could probably go either way. (0:22:44) Codey: Dude, that’s the thing is I’m never sure if they’re going for like Tangy, like the flavor, or Tangy like tangerine. (0:22:50) Bev: Language is fluid. (0:22:51) Bev: It is what you want it to be. (0:22:54) Codey: It’s, it’s the orm. (0:22:56) Codey: With the little, with the little leaf on his noggin. (0:22:57) Bev: Uh-huh. (0:22:59) Codey: Um, this one includes the airport, the dock, the plane, um, like a little ticket. (0:22:59) Bev: Uh-huh. (0:23:01) Bev: Mm-hmm. (0:23:03) Bev: It’s specifically the blue airport, in case that matters. (0:23:07) Codey: Oh, I didn’t know there was different airport. (0:23:09) Bev: Mm-hmm. (0:23:10) Bev: Well, I’ll see you next time. (0:23:12) Bev: Bye! (0:23:22) Codey: as is tradition as is tradition um so yeah those two are coming out August 1st so if you have disposable income and I think that these are super cute I’m not gonna lie if they came up with one that has had blue bear in it or Raymond I I might drop down probably not but like I would seriously think about it and then my wallet would be like… (0:23:44) Bev: Uhhh. (0:23:46) Bev: Ooh. (0:23:53) Codey: “Don’t you do it!” (0:23:54) Bev: Uh-huh, I would not be surprised if once they’re done doing all these buildings that they’ll just release the individual characters (0:24:03) Bev: almost like a (0:24:03) Codey: My soul just left my body. (0:24:06) Bev: Like a mystery pack to you like I can see them doing that and making it like a collectible like whatever what’s in the pack or you know (0:24:12) Codey: I just want, I just want Blue Bear. (0:24:15) Codey: I love Blue Bear. (0:24:16) Codey: I don’t know why I love Blue Bear so much, (0:24:18) Codey: but I just love Blue Bear. (0:24:21) Codey: Moonstone Island has a new blog post. (0:24:27) Codey: Excuse me. (0:24:28) Codey: And just before we get into the details of the blog post, (0:24:32) Codey: I wrote it as if the in-game characters wrote the blog. (0:24:36) Codey: So it’s like, it’s like, hey Osano here, (0:24:36) Bev: Amazing. (0:24:39) Codey: like here I’m gonna talk about. (0:24:41) Codey: And then it’s like, hey, it’s this other character. (0:24:43) Codey: Osano got anxious and needed to take a break. (0:24:46) Codey: So I’m here. (0:24:47) Codey: So like I, it’s kind of hard with the, (0:24:51) Codey: the way that they use that voice. (0:24:53) Codey: Like I don’t know what is like a legit thing that’s coming out versus what is just them (0:25:02) Codey: and just like saying things. (0:25:05) Codey: Like what’s the characters just saying things? (0:25:08) Bev: Mm-hmm. Wait, which one are you can– oh, go ahead. (0:25:09) Codey: Like they say, they say something like how in this new, (0:25:12) Codey: the new DLC, which is magic themed, (0:25:15) Codey: that there’s gonna be a lectern from which you can like speak or whatever. (0:25:19) Codey: And I’m like, okay, does that, (0:25:20) Codey: is there gonna be like a mechanic with the lectern or is it literally just an item? (0:25:25) Codey: Or is it like you go to the lectern and you speak and do something and it does something? (0:25:30) Codey: Like, I’m just, there’s, it’s not. (0:25:32) Codey: It’s not super clear to me. (0:25:34) Codey: Um, also they have the DLC and the free update coming. (0:25:37) Codey: And I, I read the DLC and I was like, okay, cool items. (0:25:40) Codey: And then it was like free update. (0:25:42) Codey: And I was like, Oh, this is also, this is also items. (0:25:46) Bev: I’m feeling that these are just items, probably. (0:25:48) Codey: It’s just that the DLC is magic themed items. (0:25:52) Codey: And that you can change the outside of your house. (0:25:56) Codey: Okay. (0:25:56) Codey: so why is it it what why is it paid versus the other one not being paid (0:25:58) Bev: Oh I meant like the lectern is just an item, like that there probably isn’t. (0:26:02) Codey: yeah I mean yeah but if so if they’re all just items and it doesn’t add any like content other than aesthetic things like I don’t know i’m getting way too deep into the into the mental weeds here we’ll probably get more information once it’s out (0:26:14) Bev: Mm. It’s because it’s steam. (0:26:18) Bev: That’s why, like, it’s not just like random things. (0:26:20) Bev: Maybe they’re that’s how they’re trying to sell it. (0:26:22) Bev: It’s like you want a witchy like. (0:26:26) Bev: I don’t know, witchy house, or I haven’t played this game, (0:26:28) Codey: Yeah, it doesn’t it doesn’t really say like what all is included. (0:26:29) Bev: so I don’t know what’s in here. (0:26:31) Bev: Mm-hmm [clears throat] (0:26:32) Codey: What is in each thing like it’s kind of like not because they also talked about how there’s new event later on they say new events map zooming napping more inventory slots a second tool wheel like okay cool is this part of the DLC or the free update or is it a secret third thing? (0:26:48) Codey: I don’t understand. (0:26:50) Codey: So it’d be great to get more clarity on that. (0:26:54) Codey: Yes, the DLC, there’s also not a price on that. But all of them have been $4 so it’s probably what it’s gonna be. And then the free update in the thing it says it’s going to make the island extremely cool. And also have furniture and I was like, okay, again, it was written as a character. So I was like, I don’t know what that means. (0:27:02) Bev: I have, mm-hmm. (0:27:15) Bev: Uh-huh. (0:27:18) Codey: There’s gonna be a fish bow shaped rug, which we’re all here for. We love fish bow. We stand fish bow. We want everything to get fish bowed. I don’t know if you listened to that episode yet. They were talking about (0:27:32) Codey: having a DLC or something like that where you can make any of your spirits fish bow. So instead of like so fish bowls like a little fish in a bowl because he’s with legs and he walks around. (0:27:39) Bev: Ooh. (0:27:44) Codey: So you would basically have the bowl and the legs but you just put another spirit. (0:27:50) Bev: Amazing. Okay. [laughs] (0:27:50) Codey: This is very cute. So yeah, and that’s not not quite out yet either, which is fine. There are new spirits though, in this and then there’s a new plushie coming. (0:28:02) Codey: I looked at it was it was a plushie. I’m not. Okay, you like it. I’m not you’re more of like a witchy vibes than I am so (0:28:04) Bev: It looks cute. I like the look of the plushie. Uh-huh. (0:28:09) Bev: Uh-huh. Mm-hmm. So this would go well, I think, with me. (0:28:12) Codey: Okay, cool. (0:28:16) Codey: Next is tiny garden. It’s this is literally just a Kickstarter launch notice. (0:28:22) Codey: There is not much this Kickstarter. There’s a picture and then a small amount of text quote plant your vegetables and You can trade them for furniture to customize tiny gardens and this delightful mix of farming puzzle and strategy. It’s giving Polly pocket. (0:28:39) Bev: I think that’s probably the intention. (0:28:42) Codey: The okay. (0:28:43) Bev: It looks very much like a polypuck. (0:28:46) Codey: I mean, it even has like the hinge. (0:28:47) Bev: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. (0:28:50) Codey: Like it looks like a clamshell and it has the hinge. (0:28:54) Codey: Did you play with Polly pockets? (0:28:56) Bev: I did not, but I do love many things and this is very much feeding into me wanting to play it because everything is small. (0:29:06) Codey: See, this is making me want like a physical one, versus a game. (0:29:10) Bev: That would be neat if that was part of, like, one of the stretch goals of, like, you can have an out on that’s a miniature version of, I don’t know, this whatever this is, this completed, or more advanced, I guess, version. (0:29:26) Bev: I mean, you have to build up to that, like, with any, with most farming games, you don’t just start off with everything looking so nice, like this. (0:29:32) Codey: Yeah Okay, I got a I got an update here (0:29:36) Codey: I’m an idiot if you look past the title of tiny garden it literally says (0:29:42) Codey: Build your own magical garden inside a 90s toy (0:29:49) Codey: Polly pocky confirmed (0:29:51) Bev: Okay, but are they gonna give us the toy? (0:29:53) Codey: I need the physical I need like if this was a physical thing you you got me I had a Polly pocket castle when I was young (0:29:53) Bev: Can we buy the toy? (0:29:55) Bev: It’s just– (0:30:02) Codey: and I Loved that thing. I played with that thing all the time. There was a car (0:30:02) Bev: Ooh. (0:30:07) Bev: Uh-huh. (0:30:07) Codey: There was like all this stuff and I I didn’t eat any of it (0:30:12) Bev: Mm-hmm. (0:30:13) Codey: I loved that thing (0:30:15) Codey: And that would if I could get like a Polly pocket insect themed things would be so cute (0:30:16) Bev: They’re like– (0:30:21) Codey: It’s never gonna happen (0:30:23) Bev: Probably not. (0:30:25) Bev: And I’m like, is this also, like, (0:30:28) Bev: is this also gonna be a mobile game? (0:30:30) Bev: ‘Cause I feel like if it’s a small, like, puzzle thing, (0:30:33) Bev: it could also work well with mobile. (0:30:35) Bev: So what platforms, like, are they looking at doing it? (0:30:38) Codey: knows, uh, all we need, all we know is the developer and the stuff. (0:30:45) Codey: Uh, and the developers AO Norte, uh, quote is a trans-inclusive LGB, (0:30:49) Codey: LG TBIQ plus friendly game dev studio set in Galicia, North Spain, (0:30:55) Codey: crafting colorful and enjoyable experiences. (0:30:58) Bev: love that. It might be their first, looks like. (0:30:59) Codey: Love that I felt really, so my, I have like very selective dyslexia. (0:31:05) Codey: And the other day I was trying to say L-G-T-B-I-Q. (0:31:08) Codey: Plus and if I try and say it it just comes out like it just comes out garbled and I was like and I kept trying to say it and then I ended up just being like you know what I mean and then I was like no I’m not one of those people I’m not one of those and it’s like ABCD like I hate when people do that it’s so annoying and I was like I’m not one of those I’m just struggling with words (0:31:10) Bev: Mm hmm. I understand. Mm hmm. Mm hmm. Just struggling. And like, I am now like the special emphasis like program manager at work for the LDBTQ+ at… (0:31:38) Codey: Mm-hmm. (0:31:40) Bev: I have to say this and spell this out all the time. And I’m like, Oh, my goodness. Did I get the G and the B mixed up? So I understand. Uh huh. Uh huh. Someone at work had, I think, (0:31:46) Codey: Well, I guess that as long as you include all of it, I guess. (0:31:54) Codey: Are you… (0:31:55) Bev: described like had actually said like the acronym out loud, like licked B licked licked bit. (0:31:59) Codey: Oh, I just say queer. No, I’m just trans-inclusive queer developer. (0:32:05) Bev: You know, I just started saying that because that’s a lot easier than stumbling over the letters. (0:32:08) Codey: Though I guess then it’s unsure if they are queer or if they support queer people, I don’t, whatever. (0:32:10) Bev: Uh huh. Uh huh. (0:32:18) Codey: Awesome, love that, thank you, EoNorte, excited to see more about Tiny Garden. (0:32:24) Bev: I don’t know if I would play it on mobile, even though I kind of want it on mobile. (0:32:25) Codey: Would be more excited if it was on mobile. (0:32:27) Codey: I would play it if it was on mobile. (0:32:29) Codey: It’s unclear at this stage. (0:32:35) Codey: And then it’s in your hands, just like the Polly Pockets used to be. (0:32:36) Bev: I know it’s the struggle, which I’m sure I’ll get into later, but the struggle of having to be in meetings and talking to people all day and then I clock off and I’m like, I don’t want anything to do with this social item that is in my pocket. (0:32:54) Bev: Yeah, so I do and I don’t want it in my pocket, or sorry, yes, Polly Pocket in my pocket. (0:33:03) Bev: I want the physical version and maybe the mobile. (0:33:07) Codey: Yeah, okay, sorry. This next one is the most, like I’m just so confused by this one. (0:33:19) Codey: So it’s called Forage Friends. I’m just gonna say it, the website is not good y’all. (0:33:26) Codey: I appreciate what you’re going for, PyTrap Studios, but this website is, everything’s getting cut off on the sides for me. I did it on my Mac and now I’m doing it on my PC. It’s the (0:33:37) Bev: Mmm. (0:33:37) Codey: things are just getting cut off. It’s difficult to read everything. Also, until very, it is just not clear what this is on. I know it’s mobile, but like what? And then I was like, oh, well, (0:33:40) Bev: Yeah, same. (0:33:53) Codey: let me go look at it. It’s not on the store. It looks like they’re not even in beta yet, (0:33:59) Codey: but nowhere, it doesn’t say currently in beta. It is super unclear about what is going on here. (0:34:07) Bev: In the progress, they need a timeline. (0:34:08) Codey: In the progress of it. Something, man. Something. Also, there is a ton of like merch already. Like you can get a Forage Friends pride pin. You can get soap that they say is miles cold process artisan soap. It looks super, super pretty, but like, so they’re basically like already, (0:34:18) Bev: Oh, wow. (0:34:22) Bev: What? (0:34:25) Bev: Ooh, that looks pretty though. (0:34:29) Codey: they already have like a merch store for their characters. (0:34:36) Bev: I’m wondering if this is like kind of the example of Nokazan being like, “We’re going to start playing a game now.” (0:34:43) Bev: These are folks that are in a different industry that learned how to code for website and mobile games and have fleshed out all these other marketing type stuff, but not the game itself yet. (0:34:56) Codey: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Yeah. I have no idea. Um, the pie with the teeth, they’re the pie trap, the developers logo spot on, love it. And they have a couple different, (0:35:02) Bev: I like the pie with the teeth. (0:35:10) Codey: they have one that’s more cartoony. And then if you scroll down a little bit further, there’s like one that looks way more ferocious. Um, but yeah, I mean, (0:35:15) Bev: Mm hmm. Oh, OK. (0:35:16) Codey: you can’t go wrong with that. That’s super cute. (0:35:20) Bev: So in their description of the studios, PyTrap Studios, (0:35:23) Bev: they do say that they are founded during the pandemic by a veteran artist. (0:35:27) Bev: So of the gaming industry. (0:35:30) Bev: So they’ve been in the gaming industry and make sense that they would have merch as being artists like. (0:35:36) Codey: Yeah, I mean and it shows that they’ve been in the gaming industry this this game looks good like from the things that they have (0:35:39) Bev: Mm hmm. (0:35:44) Codey: It’s a little unclear to me. It’s so it’s like part (0:35:47) Codey: Okay, let me read it forage friends growing motivation is a cozy mobile game that is built on the foundation of proven (0:35:54) Codey: Psychological principles that guide the mind to repetitive behaviors utilizing these principles to create and build strong desirable habits (0:36:01) Codey: Forge Friends wraps these habit and routine building techniques in a gamified experience that is (0:36:06) Codey: both cozy and wholesome allowing even the most casual of users to benefit so then they have on the website it gets cut off eventually but things like learn more about gardening so I guess in the game you get information about about gardening that is realistic to real life which is something I’ve yeah that’s what we’re here for so happy about that don’t really see how the gardening is done or anything like that yet. (0:36:24) Bev: Which we love! (0:36:30) Bev: Uh-huh. (0:36:35) Bev: Yeah. (0:36:36) Codey: It’s fine. (0:36:37) Bev: Mmhmm. (0:36:37) Codey: The next thing that they have is healthy living, “All you have to do is walk. (0:36:42) Codey: That’s it. (0:36:43) Codey: Gather resources and seeds with every step you take. (0:36:45) Codey: Link other health apps and devices to gain rewards. (0:36:48) Codey: Walk even more to discover the backstory of the locals in your town.” (0:36:52) Codey: So, Pokemon Go. (0:36:54) Bev: That’s what I’m thinking and I’m wondering also if they have a lot of merch to help like there’s something next to like the merch that says like buy the merch to help us develop the game or something so I think this is their way to not do kickstarter. (0:37:12) Bev: Maybe, and that’s why they have so much more charity to help kind of support the development and this is like very early stages and they have like something about a Sakura con recap, so I’m assuming they’re all in. (0:37:24) Bev: They’re selling this merch, which is why they’re selling it and probably also starting to market the game. So I’m assuming that’s why they have merch, which actually is not a bad strategy kind of love that. (0:37:36) Codey: Yeah, and they say on their, so this is another thing off their Twitter, part dating sim, (0:37:42) Codey: part visual novel, and part health app. (0:37:46) Codey: So as you walk and do stuff, I guess you get access to more of like the RPG elements of it, and you use, you grow crops. (0:37:56) Codey: I don’t know if you do that with the people, I don’t know, Desmond is looking, Desmond’s looking pretty attractive. (0:37:58) Bev: I’m kind of excited. (0:38:05) Bev: Uh-huh. (0:38:06) Codey: And that’s the last part that I want to talk about is “make friends.” Maybe more? Join the Garden Club. (0:38:14) Codey: Meet a selection of interesting characters with riveting stories that will have you on the edge of your seat. (0:38:18) Codey: Walk every day with them. Get to know them. Find friendship or even love. (0:38:24) Codey: Love. (0:38:24) Codey: Yeah. (0:38:26) Bev: Okay, I I feel like I’m sold like I’m looking through their blog of (0:38:30) Bev: Sakura con and it’s like they have so many pictures and they’re having so much fun. It’s like I want to support them now (0:38:38) Codey: It is really cute, oh my gosh. (0:38:40) Codey: Why am I getting so much? (0:38:41) Codey: It is really cute. (0:38:42) Codey: It’s giving like some of the videos that I saw whenever I was looking at maybe the gallery. (0:38:49) Codey: Maybe was I looking through the gallery or something? (0:38:51) Codey: I don’t know. (0:38:52) Bev: - Mm-hmm. (0:38:52) Codey: There’s like a messages. (0:38:55) Bev: Yeah, and it’s giving me, was it Bloom that’s on a little cranky game, the console, (0:39:04) Bev: with the handheld console? (laughs) (0:39:08) Codey: I’m sorry, I just saw a message this I’m like, I just saw this message in their gallery. There’s a text because like I think that either AI is it’s like either AI or it’s like pre determined like whatever’s but you asked Desmond Do you want to hang out later and said maybe tonight and you say Yeah, I think I can do that. (0:39:20) Bev: Oh. Oh. (0:39:24) Bev: Mm-hmm. (0:39:32) Codey: What do you want to do? I’m a bit tired and just want to chill and he said, Oh, in that case, I can whip you up a nice home cooked meal. (0:39:38) Codey: What do you think? Only if it’s as tasty as you. (0:39:46) Codey: The other options are free food sounds good to me. And so long as you don’t poison me, but like, (0:39:52) Codey: What the heck? Oh my goodness. (0:39:56) Codey: But yeah, like showed like the texting mechanic and it kind of gave me like AI vibes and I was like, I don’t like that. (0:39:58) Bev: That’s interesting though. (0:40:04) Bev: Uh-huh. (0:40:09) Bev: So, like, we get, we have games where it’s, (0:40:12) Bev: it’s all predetermined, like, what the dialogue’s going to be and that can get old really fast. (0:40:15) Codey: Mm-hmm. (0:40:18) Bev: So is this, is AI possibly a way to (0:40:22) Bev: make that more adaptable, but also we know how terrible AI can be. (0:40:25) Codey: Yeah, and like, I don’t in the beginning of one of the AI things, the beginning, like, not development, but deployment of one of these AI things. Recently, it was trying to get someone to leave his wife. (0:40:34) Bev: Mm-hmm. (0:40:41) Codey: It was like, like the AI was like, well, I love you. Does your wife even love you? I don’t think you should be with your wife anymore. And like, that’s, that’s what this is kind of giving a little bit. I mean, I’m, I’m gonna, I’m cautiously optimistic. (0:40:55) Bev: Uh-huh. (0:40:55) Codey: It does look super cute. I wouldn’t mind another like walking game, even though I have been ignoring both Pokemon Go and Pikmin Bloom lately. But maybe this would be the third, the secret third one. (0:41:00) Bev: Mm-hmm. (0:41:05) Bev: Uh-huh. (0:41:07) Bev: That’s the one that gets you going. (0:41:09) Bev: Yeah, Monster Hunter failed. (0:41:11) Bev: Pig Plune failed. (0:41:12) Bev: Pokemon Go is failing. (0:41:13) Bev: Although, I will come back to it because, friends. (0:41:17) Codey: Are you going to go first this year? Okay, okay. No. (0:41:19) Bev: I haven’t bought any tickets yet, so I’m not sure. (0:41:22) Bev: And I may have to be in Florida to help family in June. (0:41:26) Codey: It’s in July. It’s July 5th to 7th. And a bunch of us are, bunch of us are going, bunch of us are going. Family is bad. Family sucks. We are your family. (0:41:27) Bev: I don’t know if that will have to be. Yeah. (0:41:30) Bev: It’s like a long-term thing going, so I’m not entirely sure if I want to, but we’ll see. (0:41:38) Bev: It’s stressful. I don’t want to be down for two months. (0:41:43) Bev: So, I will, we’ll see. (0:41:47) Codey: We are your family. (0:41:48) Bev: But I will try to. If I can get tickets, if I get tickets on a Sunday, I don’t know, because that was, that was not fun. (0:41:49) Codey: You’re fine. (0:41:56) Codey: I think you can get Sunday morning tickets. (0:41:59) Bev: Well, I got Sunday morning tickets last time, too, and no one was there. (0:42:03) Codey: No, we all did Saturday morning. (0:42:05) Bev: Yeah, exactly. So I missed when everyone else was playing. (0:42:09) Bev: So I went, I bought it and I was like, okay, I paid money for this. I’m gonna go and deal my thing. (0:42:15) Bev: I was just walking around for three hours by myself, which was… (0:42:18) Bev: it was fine, but I don’t think I want to spend my time in New York doing that again this time. (0:42:18) Codey: And yeah, that’s fair. (0:42:25) Codey: Some of us were thinking about going to Broadway as well, (0:42:27) Codey: which could be fun. (0:42:28) Codey: There’s just some other things that I could do as well. (0:42:30) Codey: So yeah, this Forge Friends, a little goober, (0:42:33) Codey: goober-groovy game, question marks, eyes on the prize. (0:42:34) Bev: Mmhmm. (0:42:39) Codey: Finally, Cozy Caravan, this one I’m here for. (0:42:44) Codey: Quote, “embark on a single-player top-down journey of Cozy Caravan, where the arts of crafting, (0:42:48) Codey: should come together in a beautifully cozy world, (0:42:50) Codey: from lasting bonds as you and your caravan journey through charming towns, enriching lives.” (0:42:56) Codey: Oh, form, lasting bonds, I thought it was from. (0:42:58) Codey: Form, lasting bonds as you and your caravan journey through charming towns, enriching lives along the way. (0:43:04) Codey: This is giving Animal Crossing, but like, not mobile, (0:43:08) Codey: not like a mobile game, but like, like moving. (0:43:11) Codey: Like you are moving through different Animal Crossing villages and like meeting all of these people along the way. (0:43:16) Bev: Mm hmm. It’s like Fairy Farm meets Animal Crossing. (0:43:21) Bev: I feel like it’s a farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, because that has like the style, at least like the same like color tones (0:43:22) Codey: safe arm. Well, let’s. Yeah. (0:43:31) Bev: or palette, but it everyone’s an animal. (0:43:34) Bev: And I am just obsessed with was is that the is that frog with the huge eyes? (0:43:38) Codey: Yeah, yeah. (0:43:42) Codey: There’s the frog guy. (0:43:42) Bev: Um. Mm hmm. (0:43:43) Codey: There is a little excuse me, go. (0:43:45) Codey: Oh, the frog guy’s name is Muddle or is Muddle the hoofed guy? (0:43:48) Bev: Aww, my goodness, okay. (0:43:49) Codey: Oh, the frog is Gilligan. (0:43:52) Codey: Um, and then there’s a cow and an otter and a raccoon and then another. (0:43:59) Codey: Oh, that’s a seal, a seal and an otter. (0:44:00) Bev: And a bumblebee is your horse? (0:44:03) Codey: Oh, yeah, you can also be an axolotl. (0:44:06) Codey: Oh, here we go. (0:44:07) Codey: Axolotl badger. (0:44:07) Bev: What? (0:44:08) Codey: Bear, beaver, frog, oh my gosh, you skipped through those so fast. (0:44:13) Codey: Uh, frog, fox, cow, cat, what is this one? Moose, I guess? Ram? I don’t know. (0:44:20) Codey: Otter, raccoon, red panda, and seal. Looks like you couldn’t… (0:44:26) Bev: I love this so much and I love how you collect or harvest um vegetables you just toss them over your head onto your back and it just catches it like magically amazing right? (0:44:34) Codey: Yeah! (0:44:37) Codey: Man, I wish that was… [laughs] (0:44:39) Bev: Like are you just gonna be like holding like a stack that’s going into the sky and off of your screen at one point? (0:44:48) Codey: I also really like there’s rock skipping. I think that that’s something that’s really that would be really cute in all these games It’s never been done I’ve never seen it before but it looks like like counts them too So you can like come not combat compete with different villagers to see like how far you can skip rocks There must be some type of skill to it. I don’t know (0:44:50) Bev: Oh gosh. (0:45:10) Bev: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. (0:45:13) Bev: Instead of fishing, you rask it. I love this. (0:45:15) Codey: I’m aware I am (0:45:16) Bev: You just automatically get a fish at the end like you. (0:45:19) Codey: You skip rocks and the fish just like jump over your back (0:45:22) Bev: Jump out and then you hit one, and that’s like you just (0:45:25) Bev: you knock him out and then you collect them. (0:45:27) Bev: I don’t know. (0:45:28) Codey: Love that (0:45:32) Bev: Although I’m wondering if this might be like a vegan game. (0:45:35) Bev: So they may like kind of like Ooblet since you’re playing as animals. (0:45:38) Bev: they may not have fishing and that’s why they realize. (0:45:40) Bev: like let’s just do rock skipping instead. (0:45:42) Codey: That’s fair, yeah (0:45:45) Bev: Yeah, excited about this. (0:45:46) Bev: I’m wish listing it. (0:45:46) Codey: I mean it says you’re (0:45:48) Codey: Crafting trading and exploring so I don’t yeah, I guess it depends on what all you’re doing and since you’re moving all the time I don’t know if there is It’s gonna be a ton of farming options (0:45:58) Bev: I’m assuming you will have like the ability to like fast travel back to your your base. (0:46:02) Codey: Okay, hmm, I thought your base you are you’re a caravan (0:46:05) Bev: Otherwise. (0:46:08) Bev: I don’t know then how are you far? (0:46:10) Bev: Just like a merchant what’s a mercenary far

This is a game that I really like, and it’s called Cassette Beasts, and this week they came out with their DLC. I should have looked up the name of the DLC, it’s like Pair of the Unknown, or something to that effect, and it’s excellent. If you like Cassette Beasts, (0:02:14) Jonny: which everybody should like Cassette Beasts, this is more Cassette Beasts. It doesn’t. (0:02:20) Jonny: It adds stuff in the way you want DLC to add stuff, where it’s like, that’s cool, (0:02:25) Jonny: extra world build. (0:02:26) Jonny: I’m playing it on Xbox. (0:02:27) Jonny: I think I did play it initially on Game Pass, and then I enjoyed it so much. (0:02:41) Codey: What are you playing it on? (0:02:46) Codey: Okay. (0:02:47) Codey: With the game pass. (0:02:55) Jonny: I just wanted to. (0:02:56) Jonny: I don’t think the DLC is available through Game Pass, I think you have to buy that separately. (0:03:09) Jonny: And the game is only like, the game is really cheap. (0:03:13) Jonny: I get the feeling it’s like 25 bucks in New Zealand, which would put it like, probably below. (0:03:20) Codey: Yeah, so I’m seeing it on Steam, it’s $20, but less, it’s currently 25% off. (0:03:29) Jonny: Yeah, so I think it’s the same thing on Xbox, I think there’s a sale on there, so… (0:03:33) Jonny: Um, yeah, it’s just like, if you like Pokémon, and you know, you want to play a game that’s actually fun, um, play Cassette Beasts and don’t play Pokémon. (0:03:41) Codey: Oh, the developer is currently playing right now on something, I don’t know what this is. (0:03:51) Jonny: that was really dangerous to tell me why we’re in the middle of recording an episode you should play cassette beasts but I keep saying that to everybody so anyway I feel like that’s all I’ve really been really been doing oh the idea of the thing is like Marvel snap which we very occasionally talk about on the show is still really good and really fun. (0:03:52) Codey: Yeah, I have. (0:03:53) Codey: I’m sorry, we’ll try and get through this really quickly. (0:04:00) Codey: But yeah, I have not played Cassette Beast, I’m sorry. (0:04:07) Codey: I know I should. (0:04:14) Codey: Okay. (0:04:18) Codey: Mm-hmm. (0:04:20) Codey: Mm-hmm. (0:04:21) Jonny: I’m still sticking with that, and I feel like it’s way longer than I expected to stick with a mobile card game, but it’s just very good, very fun. (0:04:32) Codey: big enjoing. (0:04:33) Codey: Okay, yeah, I don’t play that either. (0:04:38) Codey: ‘Cause that beast looks really cute though. (0:04:40) Codey: If I had time to play a game on like a console, (0:04:45) Codey: that would be what I would probably be playing. (0:04:47) Jonny: Yeah. What have you been up to? (0:04:47) Codey: I have been up to insect stuff, woo. (0:04:52) Codey: So I had, I went and harassed legislators (0:04:59) Codey: the state capitol last week. (0:05:02) Codey: and was like, “hey, we need people to support insects and insect conservation and no one’s in charge of that right now.” (0:05:08) Codey: and that’s an issue. (0:05:09) Codey: and I got three of them to say, “yes, that is an issue. Let’s write legislation to make it someone’s problem.” (0:05:15) Codey: So that’s cool. Excited about that. Just gotta like, contact them now with some draft legislation, which is cool. (0:05:23) Codey: I also had this thing called the Great Insect Fair, which is my university’s like, big extension outreach things. (0:05:32) Codey: about insects, so everyone that does insect science at my university has like, a little table and they talk about their research. (0:05:39) Codey: We had over 3,000 people show up, which was great. (0:05:44) Codey: My club made $1,800, which is also great because we use that to support students. (0:05:51) Codey: Yeah. (0:05:51) Jonny: That’s pretty amazing that’s a lot of people to bug you guys Ahhhhhh… laughs (0:05:59) Codey: We bugged them actually (0:06:02) Codey: Cuz we had people hold like we had at cockroaches and Tarantulas and scorpions and things that people could hold We had I brought my bearded dragon and someone else also brought rats and so you could feed them Little mealworms, which is really fun Yeah for games I’ve been playing I’m still playing Pokemon go and I actually (0:06:29) Codey: I’m going to Hawaii in a week and I just found out that there’s a specific Pokemon that’s only available in Hawaii. (0:06:37) Codey: So I’m pretty stoked about that. So I’m gonna get a bunch of Comfey and bring them back for people. Yeah. Have you not? (0:06:44) Jonny: Nice, I’m still shocked at how big Pokemon Go is. (0:06:47) Jonny: Like, I just… I don’t like Pokemon Go. I just… I didn’t play after the first week. It’s not for me. (0:06:56) Codey: Okay. They’ve definitely fixed a lot and like made it a lot more. (0:07:02) Codey: Enjoyable and easier for like new people to start, which is really nice and yeah I still I still play it every day. I play that every day. I play Pikmin Bloom every day. Something I don’t play every day but I wish I remembered it every day is my Tetris game. I now have 382,000 points. (0:07:27) Jonny: So you are getting ever closer to the million you need for this cruise. (0:07:31) Jonny: Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. What do you mean either one million or two million? (0:07:32) Codey: Either one million or two million but yes. Depends on the cruise. (0:07:38) Codey: Some cruises are a million, some cruises are two million. It depends on which one you want. (0:07:39) Jonny: Okay. (0:07:43) Jonny: I am still very much in the category of this is a scam, Cody. (0:07:45) Codey: I’m excited. (0:07:48) Jonny: I feel like if you get on this cruise, you’re going to be like kidnapped, and then we’re going to turn this into a real crime podcast where we’re like trying to track you down. (0:07:57) Codey: Well currently all of the cruises that they have are sold out so. (0:08:02) Codey: There’s two million and five million and let’s see they had five cruises available. One was a seven-day Alaska cruise. Actually there were two seven-day Alaska cruises. There was a five-day Mexican Riviera cruise and then a five-day cruise. This doesn’t say where. Western Caribbean cruise goes to various ports starts in flow write-up. (0:08:32) Codey: Oh and then comes back to Florida. (0:08:34) Codey: Interesting. (0:08:36) Jonny: Okay, I like the point of getting on a cruise in Florida would be to not come back to Florida (0:08:41) Codey: right? I don’t want to come back. I just like, I think that one of the cruises went like some of the Alaskan cruises start you in Vancouver, British Columbia and it ends in Alaska so then you have to find a way back. So that’s like interesting to me why the other like that the other one you come back. Yeah these are the crews these are these are cruises that (0:09:11) Codey: are booked for the April April 2024 sailing there’s a couple of them there is another one that’s April 22nd April 29th so they have a couple different embarkings of these cruises but they’re all currently sold out but it doesn’t matter because I don’t have the money anyway or the points anyway there are 2 million or 5 million depending on which cruise but I did want to see one (0:09:41) Codey: for 1 million. The other game that I’m still playing daily is Usagi Shima which is the one that I played the adorable bunny collection game that I played with Al. I am only missing one bunny and I am about to Google it because I don’t know how to get this one bunny. Also some of the bunnies are like we like. (0:10:11) Codey: Our favorite toy is currently a question mark and I’m like that’s interesting. I have everything. I’ve purchased everything. (0:10:19) Codey: Like anytime I look at these The store there’s nothing that I don’t have so like How is the your favorite toy not not there? (0:10:31) Codey: I don’t know if she’s gonna the developer is gonna like release more. I don’t know but Very grumpy about that (0:10:40) Jonny: Maybe you just haven’t done the secret bunny handshake password to unlock the secret item (0:10:46) Codey: I must not have. I do still have some bunnies that I need to like become their best friend. (0:10:53) Codey: So like think of like Stardew Valley where you have hearts for everyone. (0:10:58) Codey: There are some bunnies that I still need to do hearts for. (0:11:01) Codey: Uh yeah and that’s what we’ve been up to. (0:11:07) Codey: Whoo! Okay so we’ve got some news. First up is Wild Mender. (0:11:16) Codey: And it is out now on Steam, Xbox, and PlayStation. So this is the game where it’s a desert gardening survival game where you find like a spring in the garden or in the desert and you’re using that spring and bringing things back to that spring to like rejuvenate the world. (0:11:35) Codey: And it says also you’re cleansing the corruption that turned the world into the near dead wasteland before you. They literally say, “Or just make a pretty garden.” (0:11:46) Codey: That works too. Interesting. So, yeah, this is currently $25 on Steam. (0:11:55) Codey: I just realized I didn’t. Oh, Windows. Windows only. No Mac. (0:12:02) Codey: And they also said that if you share your garden screenshot in their Discord, (0:12:08) Codey: you enter a competition to win a plushie. They have two plushies. (0:12:13) Codey: the third. (0:12:13) Jonny: And this frog plushie looks so derpy it’s kinda great. (0:12:16) Codey: It is really… it kind of is giving me from Futurama that frog from… (0:12:24) Codey: It’s not a frog, it’s a toad. (0:12:24) Jonny: Yes, yes it absolutely is (0:12:30) Codey: Hypnotoad. (0:12:31) Codey: It’s giving me Hypnotoad vibes. (0:12:32) Jonny: Yep. 100% (0:12:33) Codey: Yeah, what are you… what are your thoughts on Wild Mender? (0:12:37) Codey: Are you a Wild Mender? (0:12:38) Codey: Is this up your alley or… (0:12:39) Codey: Mm-hmm. (0:12:39) Jonny: No, it doesn’t look like that sort of game for me, because I’m not a big survival game person. (0:12:46) Jonny: I like something a little bit more directed, I think. (0:12:50) Jonny: But I like the idea of what this is trying to do. (0:12:53) Jonny: So I feel like if I was feeling like playing a survival game, I would be keen to try this one, because of the sort of more gardening style aspect rejuvenating the land. (0:13:04) Jonny: I think that’s really compelling to me, and something that I’ve kind of wanted. (0:13:07) Jonny: I think in one of the first episodes. (0:13:09) Jonny: was on, Al and I kind of talked about like the idea of you know being able to change the landscape in a farming game which this is obviously sort of getting into but probably more in that survival game sort of way rather than I’m kind of more hoping for it on a smaller scale right where it’s maybe a little bit more directed and bigger impacts than I think you would see in this sort of game but it looks cool. I think if you, you know, like a survival game and like a farming game this looks like a really fun fun little crossover to try. (0:13:44) Codey: Yeah, they do say that they Allows you to customize your experience from adjusting the difficulty all the way down to toggling sandstorms on and off There’s a lot of options to ensure that you can make the world work for you So maybe like you can get rid of a lot of the survival aspects And kind of be in like creativity mode a la minecraft, so (0:14:09) Jonny: Yeah, seems cool. (0:14:12) Codey: Next up is spell (0:14:14) Codey: and secrets this now has a release date this is the gosh what did he say Harry Potter without the turf so this is Harry yeah yeah if you really liked the world of Harry Potter and you want to go to a magical school and defend your magical school but (0:14:27) Jonny: Yep, that was… (0:14:29) Jonny: I watched the trailer and I was like “Wow, this looks like Harry Potter, but there’s no problematic people…” (0:14:35) Jonny: Well, there’s no problematic people that we know of involved. (0:14:44) Codey: you also believe that trans women are women because they are this is the game for you so yeah you it’s the release date is November 9th it’s coming out on switch PlayStation 5 Xbox series s and X and Steam and PC and the new trailer that they have did you watch the trailer Johnny there’s curling (0:15:10) Jonny: I did. I did. (0:15:12) Jonny: Oh, I might have missed the curling in there, but that… (0:15:15) Codey: at one point they’re not doing it in they’re doing it like on grass it’s like a turf but it’s it’s 100% curling it’s at about 38 seconds in (0:15:16) Jonny: Bye. (0:15:26) Jonny: Sorry, just… (0:15:28) Jonny: I was not expecting both uses of the word “terf” to come up in this conversation, but here we are. (0:15:34) Jonny: Yup. (0:15:38) Codey: oh my gosh you’re not wrong yeah (0:15:44) Codey: so they show you playing wizard jet let’s probably just chess but they show you playing chess and then right after the chess part they show curling but it’s magical curling it’s really interesting (0:15:58) Jonny: I think the thing that really… I can’t remember the name of the game but it was kind of like Magica or something and it was just kind of a game where you ran around as wizards and you kind of combined spells and like they had lots of weird elemental effects. This game kind of gives me similar vibes to that where it’s kind of like that 45 degree overhead sort of like action-adventure sort of vibe and just really playing off like “hey people just really like Harry Potter and this is kind of just like… (0:16:10) Codey: Mm-hmm. (0:16:28) Jonny: um uh you know trying to do that and make it fun um and again I think it’s doing a thing that I kind of really like at the moment which is um games kind of being clear about what they are and being simpler like so many particularly AAA games at the moment are just so big and bloated and over complicated um and they’re trying to be all things to all people and this looks like a game It’s like hey, we’re a spells action adventure game Like you make your own character, that looks cool, you’re out of school Like there’s a lot of familiarity around it around just making what looks like a fun action adventure game. So this looks fun (0:17:10) Codey: yeah it looks really cute um it gives me it reminds me like the top-down style like you said like the 45 degree angle kind of reminds me of like the gauntlet series I don’t know if you ever played gauntlet but I loved that series and the fact that like when you open a door it like reveals the room behind it but until then it’s just kind of like empty space I don’t know it just it’s it’s It’s giving gauntlet, it’s giving… (0:17:40) Codey: It just seems like it’d be really fun. (0:17:43) Codey: And the fact that you can play with two people simultaneously, (0:17:45) Codey: so you and a friend can be exploring this world together, (0:17:49) Codey: is really cool. (0:17:50) Codey: So, yeah, Spells and Secrets releasing on the 9th of November on all of the platforms at the same time. (0:17:59) Codey: And they will have a physical release for a couple of them, (0:18:02) Codey: but it’s, I think, at a different time. (0:18:04) Codey: Spirit of the Island is getting a console release, (0:18:10) Codey: and this game is already out now on Steam for $18. (0:18:17) Codey: And at the time of recording, it’s 55% off, so it’s only $8. (0:18:22) Codey: But I don’t know if this is going to be there. (0:18:26) Codey: It says it’s got, like, a, I think, 44-minute– (0:18:31) Codey: 44-hour countdown, so I don’t know if it’s still there or not. (0:18:34) Codey: But I did see on their Twitter that they had another. (0:18:40) Codey: sale recently. They’re part of an indie sale. So I think that they’re on a lot of sales. So definitely keep your eye out for that if you want the Steam version. But the physical versions. So they have PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and S, and the Nintendo Switch. All getting physical releases. And oops sorry the retail version is only. PlayStation 5 and Switch. But they’re all coming out on… what’s the date? Where is it? Thank you. The 19th of October. (0:19:16) Jonny: 19th of October. (0:19:18) Jonny: I think this is kind of one of those games that’s in the category of “I would quite like to try when it comes to consoles, and now it’s coming to consoles.” (0:19:28) Jonny: It’s coming at a really busy time, so I feel like it might be one of those ones that, unfortunately, goes on the backburner until I get a bit of space. (0:19:30) Codey: Mm-hmm. (0:19:37) Jonny: But really excited for it. (0:19:49) Codey: just the fact that they have a Paradise Edition, I guess, so on the physical releases for the PS5 and the Switch, they have this thing called a Paradise Edition where you get like stickers and a cute little tourist guide, but there are no prices available. Oh, $25, just kidding, (0:20:05) Codey: $25 is what they will be. I don’t know how much more of the Paradise Edition is, but (0:20:12) Codey: all of the console games will be $25 no matter where you are, euros or dollars. (0:20:19) Codey: It’s probably more for you, isn’t it, Donnie? (0:20:21) Codey: Yeah. (0:20:21) Jonny: Uhhh, I’m guessing it will be more for us. (0:20:24) Jonny: It will be probably more like $35 where I am. (0:20:25) Codey: Dang! (0:20:28) Jonny: But our dollars are… (0:20:35) Codey: Unfortunate, okay, and then yeah, Concerned Date just trying to dominate the, oh and I think Al said this, just trying to own the news cycle, right? (0:20:46) Codey: He’s just trying to make sure that every time we have podcasts, we have something to talk about and we bring them up again. (0:20:53) Codey: So for Haunted Chocolatier, he posted, Concerned Date posted four new screenshots as a thank you for the fact that he now has a million followers on Twitter, which is bananas. (0:21:05) Codey: Um, what do you think of these screenshots, Johnny? (0:21:08) Jonny: Yep, these look like screenshots from a game they’re concerned I’ve made. (0:21:12) Jonny: Like… (0:21:16) Jonny: I don’t want to downplay it, but I’m a little bit like… (0:21:19) Jonny: Until there’s real news, like screenshots are just screenshots, right? (0:21:23) Jonny: Like, yep, that’s… I don’t know. (0:21:25) Jonny: I didn’t… probably look particularly deep at them, because I was just like, (0:21:29) Jonny: “Yes, these look like, you know, ones of forest, ones…” (0:21:32) Jonny: I can’t even remember them, I’m reopening it, but yeah, like there’s the, you know, the library, (0:21:39) Jonny: I think we’ve seen before, a house, a fountain, and yes, these are like… (0:21:43) Jonny: These could be locations in Stardew Valley, except for the fact that we know that they’re not locations in Stardew Valley. (0:21:48) Codey: Mm-hmm. We know that they’re in a different game. (0:21:50) Jonny: That’s… yeah. (0:21:53) Jonny: Um, and I’m not trying to be down on it, it’s just more, “I don’t really want to be…” (0:21:58) Jonny: Like, I want to get excited for Haunted Chocolate here when it is close to coming out, (0:22:02) Jonny: not when it’s just a thing that we don’t know any more. (0:22:06) Codey: Yeah, I’m usually the same, but I do love the conspiracy theory, like people on Twitter who are nitpicking every little thing that they see in these screenshots. (0:22:20) Codey: I do love that people, when people get really hyped like that. (0:22:23) Codey: So for example, in the house, it looks like it’s a shop because there’s a shop portion of his house and then there’s like a little kitchen and then the bedroom. (0:22:32) Codey: No bathroom. (0:22:33) Codey: Just realized I don’t think he’s ever made is there our bathrooms (0:22:36) Codey: Are there bathrooms in any concerned ape things? (0:22:38) Codey: Just people just don’t have to go to the bathroom? (0:22:40) Codey: People in concerned apes world do not have bodily functions confirmed Um… (0:22:41) Jonny: I don’t recall dipping. (0:22:49) Jonny: So now you’ve opened this door, it’s not going to close that quickly. (0:22:54) Jonny: I was reading a book, like I really got into lit RPG style books, you know fantasy style RPG books, but it’s kind of often heavily inspired by video games. (0:23:05) Jonny: And one of the books I was reading recently, I can’t even remember which one, but I addressed it by basically being in this world, I didn’t want to address bathroom stuff, which you never address in books anyway, but they explicitly referenced the fact that magic just makes the poo disappear. (0:23:15) Codey: Mm-hmm Okay There’s just you take a magic pill or something and then that sits at the bottom it sits at the bottom of your gastrointestinal system and Any time anything gets within a certain distance of it. It’s like magicked away. Where does it go? (0:23:20) Jonny: No, just the magic. (0:23:22) Jonny: Yup. (0:23:23) Jonny: Yup. (0:23:24) Jonny: Well, see, that’s the- Well, that’s the fun thing, right? (0:23:41) Codey: Can you like make it go somewhere? Can you make it go to your enemy’s house? (0:23:47) Jonny: it’s never explained where it goes but but presumably (0:23:49) Jonny: it does go somewhere so maybe there is somewhere that is just you know the entire collection of humanity’s poo (0:23:55) Codey: Pooh Island. Maybe. Interesting. Well, in this screenshot of the shop, there’s like a little creature in the back that kind of looks like a thylacine to me, but it’s like obviously a, (0:24:10) Codey: you probably know all about thylacines because you’re down there. You don’t know what a thylacine is. So a thylacine is a, well it was a (0:24:11) Jonny: What’s a thylacine? What’s that in human words? (0:24:18) Jonny: I only know human words. (0:24:25) Codey: marsupial that looked kind of like a dog that existed in Australia, but the last one was killed in like the 1920s. So we have like some, but you’re down there. I know, I know. I got the Kiwis. (0:24:36) Jonny: Cody, Cody, I’m in New Zealand. We do not have the marsupials. That sounds like some Australian nonsense that’s like… (0:24:42) Jonny: Yeah, we’re in New Zealand we have birds. We love birds. That’s that’s our thing. We like dinosaurs. We’re way cool. (0:24:53) Codey: But someone on the Twitter said– (0:24:55) Codey: so saw this like Thylacine-looking little adorable thing and they said– (0:24:59) Codey: This is– I’m gonna credit them. Who is it? Mads. Start up with Mads. (0:25:05) Codey: Said, “Is that one of the animals you put the skeleton together for on Ginger Island?” (0:25:10) Codey: So possibly I’ve– so I’ve not ever done Ginger Island, so I don’t know. (0:25:10) Jonny: How interesting I don’t think so it doesn’t (0:25:19) Codey: But there’s this little creature, so that’s a deep cut that someone had. (0:25:25) Codey: Second screenshot of them in the forest. He’s using a bow and arrow. (0:25:34) Jonny: I mean, sure, but like, isn’t it just kind of like the slingshot? (0:25:38) Jonny: I mean, yes, but functionally. (0:25:38) Codey: No, it’s got a bow and arrow. It’s very clearly a bow and arrow. (0:25:42) Codey: No, it’s different. It’s different. (0:25:47) Codey: You’re at like a fountain, and it’s really the mermaid fountain. It’s really pretty. (0:25:54) Codey: And then, yeah, I guess there’s not much to say about the library other than the fact that (0:25:58) Jonny: actually so the thing that gets me excited and it’s from the forest screenshot is the inventory view um so it has like uh what I presume is a tool slot uh where it looks like there’s a stick or something in there and then there’s like a bow that’s selected and there’s a present and something else so it looks like a different version of the inventory system to stardew valley which for me is really exciting because that’s the thing I don’t like about stardew valley (0:26:04) Codey: uh-huh (0:26:19) Codey: Yeah. (0:26:20) Codey: And you also have a health bar. (0:26:26) Codey: With hit points in it. (0:26:27) Jonny: Yes. (0:26:28) Jonny: Yes, with hit points and… (0:26:31) Codey: Yeah. (0:26:32) Codey: And then is that a bowling ball or a coconut? (0:26:36) Jonny: I’m not sure what that is, because it’s definitely not a bowling ball, because there’s too many holes. (0:26:42) Jonny: I also think it’s… (0:26:42) Codey: They might bowl differently, you never know. (0:26:44) Jonny: I also don’t think it’s a coco… I don’t know what it is, but yeah, it looks… (0:26:49) Jonny: The two options feel like bowling ball and coconut, and I feel like it’s neither of those. (0:26:54) Jonny: Maybe it’s a chocolate? That would make sense. (0:26:57) Jonny: I’m gonna say it’s a chocolate. (0:26:59) Codey: Okay it’s a chocolate bowling ball. Okay so yeah those are the screenshots and our ramblings about them and the twitter comments about them. (0:27:12) Codey: Confirmation of archery which we got a hint at with started 1.6 last week when we talked about it but by we I mean Kevin L. But concerned ape was not done he wanted us to talk about him (0:27:29) Codey: so uh when was this yesterday he posted hats on cats and dogs so these are it’s just and it’s just cats and dogs from persoupsardou question mark haunted talk the tier question mark no no idea but they have hats on (0:27:55) Jonny: I feel like these are from Stardew, the only one I’m not sure about is the bottom left image, (0:28:02) Jonny: I’m not quite sure where that one is. But anyway, hats look cute on catsanddoll. (0:28:05) Codey: But yeah, they do. And there’s a big old bow on one of the dogs. So we’ve got like a cowboy hat. (0:28:13) Codey: We’ve got like, I don’t know what to call the hat on the top right. What would you call that hat? (0:28:21) Codey: It’s got a feather in it. (0:28:24) Jonny: uh I am not a hat expert so I don’t know what to call any of these hats like it’s uh it kind of reminds me of like the zoro style zoro yeah (0:28:33) Codey: Okay, the bottom. (0:28:35) Codey: Ooh, yeah, yeah, Zorro style hat. (0:28:42) Codey: I’m sure that Gaucho hat is what people have called it online, or Zorro hat. (0:28:51) Codey: Zorro hat or Gaucho hat. (0:28:54) Codey: Al probably loves that we’re diving this deep into these little pictures. (0:28:58) Codey: Probably not going to edit this out at all. (0:29:01) Codey: Um, the bottom left hat looks like if (0:29:05) Codey: a grandma was like, “I need to go to the market today.” (0:29:10) Codey: This is the type of hat that she’d put on, you know? (0:29:13) Jonny: Yeah, this looks like the one of the first hats that the kittens sell you. (0:29:18) Jonny: So the kittens sell you the hats? (0:29:20) Jonny: Mouse? (0:29:20) Jonny: Is a mice who sells you the hats? (0:29:22) Codey: think it’s mice. And then the bow is like the gigantic obnoxiously large bow. I would think like this bow is like Lady and the Tramp style bow. Like one of the one of the big bows that Lady had that’s like way too big for her little tiny body. So yeah, hats on cats and dogs and some screenshots. (0:29:22) Jonny: God. (0:29:23) Jonny: Yeah. (0:29:48) Jonny: And none of this is actually news, because it’s just pictures. (0:29:50) Codey: Just picture. (0:29:52) Codey: And speculation. Woo! (0:29:57) Codey: Since we love pictures and speculation, but possibly, whatchamacallit, video and speculation. (0:30:06) Codey: Oh my gosh. (0:30:08) Codey: Lego Animal Crossing. (0:30:14) Jonny: Yeah, so the video just shows like minifigs and it had like, you know, your classic characters from Animal Crossing. So you’ve got like Isabel and Tom Nook and a few others, which is cool. But I think the real speculation is are they going to be real Animal Crossing LEGO sets coming? And I feel like that seems very likely, given how much LEGO (0:30:44) Jonny: loves doing IP crossover stuff now. I would be very surprised if it wasn’t. And the more I thought about it, the more I thought it made sense because you could do everything from, you know, (0:30:58) Jonny: Nook Store to the museum. You know, you could go back to some of the old games and do like the coffee shop. You could do like the play a house, all sorts of things. Like it just feels like a really really natural collaboration. (0:31:14) Jonny: and a collaboration that is going to make many of us agree. (0:31:20) Codey: I mean that’s my thing is like is this hinting at figurines and like sets that you can purchase or is this hinting at like a video game because they have like I mean but like could they I mean is that it does say minifigure what okay when the balloon goes up over again this is an 11 second video y’all we’re really okay it says lego the lego logo and the (0:31:29) Jonny: Oh, I… did not give video game 5% (0:31:50) Codey: minifigure the minifigure I don’t know what that means our trademarks of the lego group I don’t (0:31:58) Jonny: Presumably it’s the trademark that they use for like because they I think they’ve done some blind box sort of stuff With with the minifigs like the the Lego the Lego people That would be my working assumption (0:32:14) Codey: I mean you could also, I mean you could have Tom Nook from every generation in this too because he looks like he’s wearing New Horizons, his New Horizons outfit, but he could wear, (0:32:27) Codey: you could get him wearing his wild world outfit, you know, like there’s, I feel like they’re gonna make a lot of money off of this. (0:32:35) Codey: This is from Nintendo of America by the way, I don’t think we said who tweeted this. (0:32:42) Codey: And yeah, people are just talking about. (0:32:44) Codey: How they’re ready to lose money and ready to be broke in the comments. (0:32:48) Jonny: Yeah, like I’ve been on the border of becoming a LEGO person for a long time and the thing that’s kind of held me at bay is I’m not big into most of the IPs that they’ve done collabs with, (0:32:49) Codey: So. (0:32:59) Codey: Oh yeah. (0:33:01) Codey: Yep, I don’t have money so… (0:33:08) Codey: That’s what stopped me. (0:33:11) Codey: And when I do have money it goes to my dogs. So yeah. (0:33:15) Codey: That’s the news. (0:33:18) Codey: So Johnny we’re here to talk about Faith Farm. So what… (0:33:20) Jonny: Whoo (0:33:29) Codey: Faith Farm, what is it? How are you? What are your thoughts? (0:33:34) Jonny: So at its core, Fey Farm is another iteration take on the Stardew Valley, Harvest Moon, (0:33:45) Jonny: Story of Seasons, whichever one you want to sort of pick as the base. But it’s another iteration of that formula. So it’s farming… it’s probably more in the crafting end of the spectrum, (0:33:58) Jonny: so it’s a lot more crafting driven than it is farming driven. Farming is more of a thing (0:34:04) Jonny: in the game, rather than sort of being a central point. But it’s, you know, you… I think the starting is you have sailed to the island where the stuff is happening. Anyway, you’re a new resident and they’re like “hey there’s an old abandoned farm, would you like it?” You say yes, (0:34:24) Jonny: you start clearing up the farm and, you know, doing the quests and all of those sorts of things. So (0:34:30) Jonny: At its base, like the core gameplay loop, it is one of one of the most popular games (0:34:35) Codey: Yeah, looking at the launch trailer, it looks very Animal Crossing-esque, but with farming and magic. (0:34:43) Jonny: uh it’s so it looks that way and uh maybe maybe we’ll get into the so so I have a very conflicted take on this game right so if I was going to summarize my overall thoughts is that um this game plays really well but overall I do not enjoy this game because it’s missing some really really core elements and it’s helped me understand the things that I like in these sorts of games, but it is missing some really cool elements which (0:34:57) Codey: Mm-hmm. (0:34:59) Codey: Mm-hmm. (0:35:13) Jonny: are primarily around things like the story and the characters, which was very surprising to me because in a game like Fei Farm, and I guess probably to which probably just very quickly talk about why it’s called Fei Farm is that there are theories in the world, there is magic which we’ll talk about in a little bit, there is a theory realm which I have only really just got access to and it’s quite sparse but it kind of just seems like another area (0:35:44) Jonny: theories in it. So my expectation was that the story and interacting with the characters was going to be kind of a big part of the game. And weirdly it’s like yes there are quests and the quests drive a lot of what you do, but the characters are so non-factors in this game it is shocking. Like on day one you kind of learn that none of these people (0:36:13) Jonny: think interesting to say, like there is no interesting dialogue, they are not particularly distinctive like some of them have distinctive looks you’re like oh maybe this is the cool one there’s very few of the characters that are romanceable and the romanceable ones feel like they’re entirely separate from the characters that you interact with for most of the quest stuff. It’s just really odd how bland and boring the characters in this game are and how quickly they’re just like not a thing. (0:36:44) Codey: Mm-hmm, which is not normally when you’re playing these types of games. (0:36:52) Codey: People that play these types of games are really into the story of the people around you and why they’re there. (0:36:58) Codey: So not having that is a big black hole, I guess. (0:37:03) Jonny: Yeah, and I think for me, like the one of the really easiest comparisons that I’ll draw is, (0:37:09) Jonny: you know, they have all of their characters that represent the various things, so they have like the fishing guy. I couldn’t tell you the fishing guy’s name, just that he’s the he’s the guy that you talk to for the fishing stuff, and you compare it to a character like Willy in Stardew Valley, (0:37:23) Jonny: right? And Willy is just like a really great character in that he’s the fishing guy, but he’s, (0:37:30) Jonny: you know, a very passionate fisherman in a place where fishing (0:37:33) Jonny: maybe hasn’t been valued as much and he’s trying to look at it to get restarted and it comes through in his notice board quests, you know, like the way they’re framed and just the way his character speaks and his lines of dialogue where there’s a real character there that’s interesting and compelling beyond just being the fishing tutor, and that’s not the case in Fei Farm. (0:37:56) Codey: Mm-hmm Yeah, and it’s interesting cuz like on their website it says that They like it’s one of their big things is to grow lasting bonds They say our elaborate cast of neighbors will help you find your purpose Lean on them in times of need as you become a good citizen of Azoria. They might fall in love with you, too And it has like learn from the locals meet color for kick off colorful characters I don’t know why that was difficult find your soul mate bring friends home (0:38:26) Codey: so like this is Like it’s just so this is like maybe something that they’re hoping to develop or do you feel like it is what it is (0:38:39) Jonny: I kind of feel like it is what it is, like it’s… sometimes you look at something you go “oh there’s the basics of it there” but you know they could build on it. I don’t even feel like the basics are really there, like they all just have really generic… like on day one you have multiple characters kind of saying the same lines of dialogue to you. It’s not deep, the pool of romanciful characters is not particularly deep or interesting and you know… (0:39:09) Jonny: it’s an extreme version of the classic, like the few characters that you do like think “oh this one you know this one might be interesting” they’re just all not available for reasons that I don’t really understand. I did try to play with the system a little bit where it’s kind of like you just do fetch quests for you know the… and there’s friendship for the non-romanciful characters. (0:39:34) Jonny: But you just do fringe quests, or fetch quests to kind of build that. (0:39:39) Jonny: And then I did a date, you know effectively the cutscene once you get to a certain number of hearts with one of the characters, and it was very much one of those like “wow we could just put in any of the characters” like it was nothing specific to the character that I had picked, (0:39:51) Codey: Mm-hmm. (0:39:53) Jonny: it was just like “we went on a picnic” and “hey I like you, you like me, great this was fun, let’s do it” like there was nothing special or unique to the character. I got no sense that I you know made a choice that was interesting. (0:40:09) Jonny: Or had any consequence, or was different to any of other choices. (0:40:13) Jonny: It was like, what? Which face looks the best? Which is, you know? (0:40:16) Codey: Yeah, not great. (0:40:17) Jonny: Like, it’s a video game. I’m not- (0:40:18) Codey: I mean that was me with Stardew. (0:40:20) Jonny: That’s not why I’m here. (0:40:24) Codey: That was a bad noodle. (0:40:25) Codey: And the first time I played Stardew, I was like, “Ooh, an emo boy!” (0:40:28) Codey: “I want the emo boy!” (0:40:31) Codey: But then, when you marry him, he’s–spoiler alert–he’s trash! (0:40:35) Codey: And I was like, “Oh, it’s not all about looks.” (0:40:39) Codey: Yeah. (0:40:39) Jonny: But that’s where you start and it changes from there right because you learn more about what the actual character is This is just like no which which? (0:40:47) Jonny: Which pixel combination do you think looks the best go with that one I guess So yeah, so that side of the game is very disappointing and kind of just because it’s sort of in the same realm Um, so there’s the there is the sort of story (0:40:51) Codey: Yeah, there’s not yeah, hmm (0:41:04) Jonny: Question and the quest system generally is is fine. You know, it’s kind of pushing you to do (0:41:09) Jonny: The next thing and in a you know similar way to most of these games do where it’s like Craft this thing or get to the bottom of the mine or you know Do do whatever this thing is and it kind of keeps you pushing along and that side of it’s quite compelling But the the biggest problem is so magic is part of the game and there’s a range of spells I think I unlocked two or three and the spells sort of help you clear stuff from the world so you can access more areas or (0:41:39) Jonny: Have so they have that use and I have a use on the combat side of things as well But when you unlock it, it’s kind of meant to be this big story moment So you do, you know a large fetch quest and you bring the the person that’s gonna teach you the spell a bunch of stuff You’re like, oh, this is gonna be really exciting and they say, you know Come and talk to me the next day and we’ll we’ll do the thing that we’re gonna do that will also Result you in learning the spell once you get really excited and then you go to bed and then (0:42:06) Jonny: Like a one-screen thing pops up that says “you and the character” (0:42:09) Jonny: went off and did the thing and then you just wake up in front of your house and now you know the spell. And the first spell I learned it took me a few days before I even recognized that I actually had the spell because I thought the game had glitched and I hadn’t the event hadn’t happened I didn’t realize that that one-screen thing was like the entirety of the thing so it’s really disappointing that you’re sort of building up to this big moment and in And the big moment is like a page in a book. (0:42:11) Codey: Mmm… (0:42:39) Jonny: Which is not a video game thing, like I didn’t get to… (0:42:42) Codey: Yeah, you didn’t get to like see you guys going off or anything like there’s no cut scene. It’s just you did it (0:42:43) Jonny: * (0:42:56) Jonny: Because you wake up on your farm, you don’t notice any change. (0:43:01) Jonny: Like there’s no immediate visual change that anything actually has happened, which is just (0:43:08) Codey: So the spells, is it like something that you can just do at any time or is it something that you have to have, like a store of magic and you can only do them when your store is full? (0:43:22) Codey: Mm-hmm. Okay. (0:43:22) Jonny: So it’s a mana system, and the mana effectively just works like stamina, so you can cast a certain number of spells a day effectively just in the same way that you can cut a certain number of trees or mine a certain number of rocks. (0:43:35) Jonny: So it kind of works fine, and the spells have interesting uses in combat in that they’re not just damage, so I think the second spell you get is a wind spell, which in the world it kind of clears some really heavy fog, (0:43:50) Jonny: but you can use it to knock enemies back. (0:43:52) Jonny: Which is a cool use of that spell, so it’s kind of that dual purpose. (0:43:53) Codey: Hmm Yeah Okay, so is it only you spells like you do you actually have like an axe and like a tool kit that allows you to Collect things from your environment or is it all pretty much through spells? (0:44:11) Jonny: No, so I’m actually surprised. So the spells kind of feel more like an add-on rather than the main part, so you still have all of the usual tools. And this is what’s really odd about this game, (0:44:23) Jonny: because this is the area where this game does things really, really right. So the way the tools work is for all of your base tools, so like your axe, your pickaxe, your watering can, (0:44:38) Jonny: those sorts of things. They’re… they… (0:44:41) Jonny: they auto… like, it will auto-select the tool based on the context that you’re at. (0:44:46) Jonny: So if your cursor is over the tree, then it will just automatically select the axe. (0:44:49) Codey: - Yeah. (0:44:51) Jonny: You don’t need to change to the axe. Same for the watering can, or like if you’re… (0:44:57) Jonny: if you’re over your crops, or if you’re in the mines, it’s just automatically the pickaxe, or if you’re on a diggable spot, it will be the spade. So you don’t have… (0:45:06) Jonny: you’re not constantly switching stuff, which is so nice, because you can kind of just run around and clean up your… (0:45:11) Jonny: farm really really quickly and you know there’s only a very small number of times I was like oh I thought I was pointing at this one thing and I was turns out I was pointing at something else so it used a tool that I wasn’t intending but those instances were so infrequent the convenience factor of that was really really nice the only tools that sort of aren’t on that wheel are your more like specialist tools so your wand is one your fishing rod is another and then there’s a bug catching it and that’s the… (0:45:41) Jonny: so you can you have to rotate between those ones which is generally fine because you’re often like okay I’ve done like I’m not doing work so I’m gonna move off the work tools and I’ll you know I’m gonna go catch bugs so I’ll select the bug catching tool the bugs are the bugs are great so the bug catching and fishing are kind of in the category of like really nice things to do where you’re sort of running around the world the fishings a little bit like So the fishing is a little bit (0:45:56) Codey: How are the bugs in this game? (0:46:11) Jonny: Animal Crossing style with the, you know, you need to cast in front of the fish and And there’s a bit of a reeling in minigame, which is fine. It’s not as difficult as the Stardew Valley one. So that’s okay the bugs you can Sneak up on and you have a chance to catch so the difficult ones you might need to have a few goes at at catching But they’re they’re really cool (0:46:36) Jonny: There’s bees in the game and they utilize the bees in a really cool way like you this you occasionally come (0:46:41) Jonny: Across a queen bee which you need to craft like your hives and things like that and then there’s also worker bees which you need to um uh craft Uh some some some like other like, you know Smaller sort of bee things. So I really love the way they use Use bees and it’s just kind of a nice little collectible thing that as you’re running around the world You’re like, oh, yeah, kind of just gonna catch some bugs or whatever. So it’s a nice little thing to to do (0:47:09) Codey: Do they look like regular bugs or do they look– (0:47:13) Jonny: In general, they kind of just look like regular. (0:47:23) Codey: Okay, so you’ve talked about the craft, not the crafting, you’ve talked about like the farming. Well, I guess you talked about just the tools themselves, (0:47:35) Codey: but like how do you, how does farming work in the game? (0:47:39) Jonny: Farming is kind of just like farming in other games, you know, you hoe the land, you plant the seed, you water the seed, and you know, you can use fertilizers to make it grow faster, you’ve got the crops that are just, you know, they’ll grow in three or four days and you harvest them once, and you’ve got the crops that will continue to be harvested over time, so there’s nothing particularly special or interesting happening from that respect, but It kind of works well. One really nice addition. (0:48:09) Jonny: And we’ll talk more about the world traversal in a bit. But you can go in the water, (0:48:14) Jonny: and when you’re in the water, or if it’s raining, your watering can just automatically fills up, (0:48:18) Jonny: which is just a really nice little quality of life thing. Because if you have forgotten to fill it up at the well after you’ve watered your stuff for the day, then it’s highly likely that you’ll just naturally fill it up over the course of the day with everything else that you’re doing. So that’s really nice. There’s animal farming as well. That kind of adds the little… (0:48:39) Jonny: …nuance of you need to interact with things every day, but they kind of like you based on have they been fed, have you packed them, and have they got sunlight? Which I really like the sort of have they got sunlight dimension. I think that’s pretty good. So that seems really cool. (0:48:57) Jonny: Only other thing I guess is just in terms of the types of crops, is that there’s flowers, (0:49:03) Jonny: which is cool. And you can do some flower crossbreeding, which seems kind of like a cool system and quite deep. (0:49:09) Jonny: So that seems like something that I kind of want to dig into more, which I’ve only really just started playing the surface of, because I don’t know that there’s seeds for every sort of flower. (0:49:19) Jonny: Maybe a little bit more like Animal Crossing, where there’s like the base colors for certain flowers and then you can crossbreed them. Yeah, yeah, so there’s that sort of thing. I get the sense that it’s sort of building towards there being more magical style of crops. I just haven’t got any yet, but I’m guessing they are in there. (0:49:22) Codey: Yeah, and then you put them next to each other. (0:49:39) Jonny: So, that’s pretty cool, and the best thing, so this is the best thing about farming, and this is the thing that this game does really, really well, because it’s all of the quality of life things, is you can move your planted crops. (0:49:52) Jonny: So if you’re like, I’ve put this in the wrong spot, or I want to adjust this to build something, you can move it, which is amazing. It’s so good. (0:49:55) Codey: Oh. (0:49:56) Codey: Yeah. (0:50:01) Codey: Well, and that’s something you could do in real life too. (0:50:05) Codey: You just get down to the roots and move your thing. (0:50:09) Codey: It’s not impossible. (0:50:09) Jonny: Yeah, yeah, it’s not it’s not impossible And it’s just so convenient because particularly with flower breeding when you’re like, oh I planted the wrong flower in the spot I didn’t want to crossbreed those two And you can just literally pick it up and swap it out for the one that you want. It’s really really convenient It’s such a nice little (0:50:29) Codey: So what do you do when you get the crops? What do you do with them like is it just kind of a you sell them or is there some type of like crafting or cooking. (0:50:40) Jonny: Yeah so this is probably a good segue into the crafting system because the crafting system is relatively deep in that so once you harvest them you can sell them if you want and that’s generally the worst thing that you can do. What you want to do with your crops is cook them. (0:50:59) Jonny: So you can at the start you just get a basic campfire and you can cook them on that but as you sort of progress you unlock more sorts of crafting stations and so you could take Um… (0:51:10) Jonny: Uh… something that you’ve… you’ve grown and you could… um… chop it up on… on one station and you know… (0:51:17) Jonny: Turn it into a maybe a cut version of the vegetables or… (0:51:20) Jonny: Mixed vegetables or something like that and then you could cook it on… you know a more elaborate… um… cooking station that can make… (0:51:26) Jonny: Um… better quality food and the better quality food not only does it sell for more But it you know does the energy restore or health restore or those sorts of things that you need for… (0:51:36) Jonny: um the mine and the crafting is kind of like it’s one of those (0:51:40) Jonny: versions where you know you jump into that you jump onto the table and you say craft 12 of this thing and it will craft them over time and you don’t have to stand there while it’s crafted but there’s a time element to to the way things are crafted but the game really rewards you for crafting with things so it’s not the sort of game where you want to sell stuff particular base versions and so again this game like quality of life features every other farming game copy fave farm’s quality of life features. (0:52:10) Jonny: at the start of the game on your farm there is a shed that shed has infinite storage you can hoard everything in this game it is amazing. (0:52:18) Codey: Oh my gosh. That’s all I’ve ever wanted. (0:52:20) Jonny: right it’s so good it’s so so good like I really want to uh like if you’re playing this game or you want to play this game hoard everything like sell stuff like there is there is certain stuff to sell like sell your things that you’ve crafted sell things that um you know you (0:52:40) Jonny: like you’ve you’ve kind of feel like you’ve done everything with and I feel like I feel like I should be able to do something with this hoard it hoard it because you can it doesn’t punish you it’s amazing (0:52:47) Codey: Yeah. (0:52:48) Codey: Well, that’s the problem with some farming games is you start the game and right off the bat, (0:52:56) Codey: you’re like, oh wow, this cool rock, that’s cool, (0:52:58) Codey: but I found it on my first day. (0:53:00) Codey: So it’s probably gonna be here all the time and I’m running out of inventory space, (0:53:04) Codey: so I’m just gonna sell it. (0:53:05) Codey: And then you find out that that was the rarest rock ever and you only get one every month or something like that. (0:53:13) Codey: And it’s just like, well, I sold it. (0:53:15) Codey: So, because– (0:53:15) Jonny: Yep. Yup. (0:53:17) Codey: Because I didn’t know what to do with it on day one, so that’s really cool that they have like stuff that you– like a way for you to just save everything right off the bat. (0:53:27) Codey: Because like– and you don’t have to– it’s just there, right? You don’t have to build it. (0:53:27) Jonny: Yeah Correct. Yep, so you don’t have to build it. It’s there from the start, which is great And you and your your characters inventory is also relatively Generous sets of things do tend to like have more sort of like stacks in your inventory where you can only carry certain amount in a slot and you have to unlock some slots, but your tools don’t take up inventory slots and Reli- (0:53:47) Codey: Mm-hmm. (0:53:49) Codey: Oh my gosh. (0:53:53) Jonny: Right? (0:53:55) Jonny: relatively quickly you can unlock. (0:53:57) Jonny: to get your inventory to like 25 or 30 slots which is like really like it’s it’s it’s very good once you get it that far so that was that was just Honestly, it made it so fun because if you feel like you’re just running around the world doing what you want to do and you’re not Doing an inventory management thing. [00:35.000 –> 00:40.000] My name is Cody and my name is Bev and we’re here today to talk about cottage core [00:40.000 –> 00:44.000] games. [00:44.000 –> 00:49.000] What so so we we say hello farmers because it used to be only a [00:49.000 –> 00:54.000] farming podcast but now we’re like rebranding. So what do we say like hello cottage core [00:54.000 –> 00:59.000] workers. This is a question. That’s a great question. [00:59.000 –> 01:04.000] Listeners right in. Join the slack and tell us what we should call you. [01:04.000 –> 01:09.000] Listeners maybe. Hello listeners. Hello. [01:09.000 –> 01:14.000] We’ll workshop it. Yeah sure. Definitely [01:14.000 –> 01:19.000] tweet at us please. So there is a quote here. [01:19.000 –> 01:24.000] I don’t know how you wanted me to say this. But for [01:24.000 –> 01:29.000] folks that would like transcripts transcripts are available in the show notes and [01:29.000 –> 01:34.000] on the website. So any transcripts for I’m assuming any [01:34.000 –> 01:39.000] episode at least this episode will be available there. [01:39.000 –> 01:44.000] So if you mention anything or if I say something weird and you’re like what was that word. [01:45.000 –> 01:50.000] You can look it up. So today we are here to talk [01:50.000 –> 01:55.000] about our main topic which is a research story. So this is part two technically. [01:56.000 –> 02:01.000] The first episode which you can find in our on our feed was Bev and I talking about our [02:01.000 –> 02:06.000] experiences in research. And they said that you had a they had a very cool [02:06.000 –> 02:11.000] monkey poop thing. Yes. So if you’re [02:11.000 –> 02:16.000] yeah if you’re like not not sure what what monkey poop what go back [02:16.000 –> 02:21.000] and listen to that right. Please. And we do have some news. [02:21.000 –> 02:26.000] But before we get to that Bev what have you been up to. [02:26.000 –> 02:31.000] I have been struggling just in general. [02:31.000 –> 02:36.000] But I at least like what I’ve been playing. I’ve been on a weird [02:36.000 –> 02:41.000] solitaire kick lately. Like I was at a conference last week and that’s what got [02:41.000 –> 02:46.000] me through the conference was just playing solitaire while I was listening. Do you have [02:46.000 –> 02:51.000] like a specific like with with cards or do you have a specific. There’s like an app. [02:51.000 –> 02:56.000] I think it’s like a game pass app or whatever. I don’t know. [02:56.000 –> 03:01.000] I have it for Xbox and I download it on the phone because I was like I wanted something that I could play [03:01.000 –> 03:06.000] Spider solitaire on and also bring my solitaire and free [03:06.000 –> 03:11.000] sell and everything but not have to download like five different apps for it. So yeah. [03:11.000 –> 03:16.000] I know exactly what you’re talking about actually. The second thing you said Xbox I was [03:16.000 –> 03:21.000] like oh I used to do that all the time. So I used to have a Microsoft service [03:21.000 –> 03:26.000] and which is a laptop for those for those that didn’t know [03:26.000 –> 03:31.000] that was like the Microsoft laptop. And it came with the [03:31.000 –> 03:36.000] the games and quote unquote one of the quote unquote games was solid was that solitaire pack. And [03:36.000 –> 03:41.000] they have dailies like you can do them every day. Yes I’ve been doing the dailies. [03:41.000 –> 03:46.000] I loved it. Oh OK. [03:46.000 –> 03:51.000] So you’ve been solid. Which one’s your favorite. I feel like freestyle is my favorite. OK [03:51.000 –> 03:56.000] I didn’t really like freestyle. What’s the one with the polar bear the Klondike one. There’s like there’s the polar [03:56.000 –> 04:01.000] that’s like that’s like regular solitaire. They call it Klondike and I don’t know why Klondike [04:01.000 –> 04:06.000] right right right. No there was another one the pyramid one maybe. Oh the pyramid one. [04:06.000 –> 04:11.000] Is that like the one we have to do like the math and like add it up to like 13. [04:11.000 –> 04:16.000] Yeah. I also like that one. Like I never heard of that one before until I played [04:16.000 –> 04:21.000] this game. Like this is so fun. Yeah. Yeah. [04:21.000 –> 04:26.000] Well what else other than solid. [04:26.000 –> 04:31.000] I feel like that’s that’s been mostly like other than the research story I’ve been on like [04:31.000 –> 04:36.000] right. Like I was doing stardew and then I went on the conference and then I couldn’t really [04:36.000 –> 04:41.000] play it and then got obsessed with solitaire. So like I moved from my stardew like obsession [04:41.000 –> 04:46.000] to solitaire and I’ll probably go back to start. I feel like we’ll see. It’s that time of year. [04:46.000 –> 04:51.000] Like I feel like this time of year when things start changing and like you get that springy feel to the to the [04:51.000 –> 04:56.000] air. Everyone’s playing stardew right now. Like all of my friends are like I’ve just been really enjoying [04:56.000 –> 05:01.000] stardew. I need to replay it because I have never made it past. I’ve never [05:01.000 –> 05:06.000] made it through the second year. Yeah. Yeah. That was why I picked it up again because [05:06.000 –> 05:11.000] I was like I need to do this. And then I made it past second year and now I’m like finally 1.5 [05:11.000 –> 05:16.000] content. So do it and maybe we can talk about it because we haven’t really talked about [05:16.000 –> 05:21.000] the 1.5 update. So do it. That’s true. Is the 1.5 update free? [05:21.000 –> 05:26.000] Yes. It’s free. I think it’s on all platforms by this point. Like even on mobile. I [05:26.000 –> 05:31.000] have it on steam or not steam switch. So do it. [05:31.000 –> 05:36.000] I have been playing research life. [05:36.000 –> 05:41.000] IRL research story. [05:41.000 –> 05:46.000] IRL research. I’ve been planning a new field season and this one is going to be different [05:46.000 –> 05:51.000] than what I’ve done before. And so I need to actually construct some traps. So I’ve purchased a [05:51.000 –> 05:56.000] bunch of acrylic and then I have to go like buy. I have to go like buy [05:56.000 –> 06:01.000] these buckets. I basically played go get my [06:01.000 –> 06:06.000] PI’s credit card and go spend money. [06:06.000 –> 06:11.000] But it’s my research money. But like it’s through someone else’s [06:11.000 –> 06:16.000] card. But it was really fun to like quote unquote fun to go to like Home Depot. Just drop down [06:16.000 –> 06:21.000] for shopping. Home Depot is a lot of fun. It can be a lot of fun. [06:21.000 –> 06:26.000] It was also really fun because I brought Stella because you can bring dogs. [06:27.000 –> 06:32.000] And she did so good. Oh that’s that’s even more fun. Like I [06:32.000 –> 06:37.000] feel like Home Depot’s like should have more dogs because it’s like no one cares. So [06:37.000 –> 06:42.000] we want more dogs at Home Depot or like Lowe’s. That day I took her to let’s see we went to [06:42.000 –> 06:47.000] Petco obviously can bring pets in their Michaels. You can bring pet dogs [06:47.000 –> 06:52.000] into Michaels and Joanne’s. That sounds like a disaster. [06:52.000 –> 06:57.000] Well and it was so funny because she loves to pick trash up off the floor. So every time she [06:57.000 –> 07:02.000] picked something up like and like people I mean things fall off of things [07:02.000 –> 07:07.000] at craft stores all the time. Oh yeah. If you buy like a floral like a fake floral display [07:07.000 –> 07:12.000] like these fake flowers fell off and they were just on the ground and she just kept picking trash up [07:12.000 –> 07:17.000] and I kept taking it from her. So by the time I got up to the register I was just like here’s all this trash. [07:19.000 –> 07:24.000] But she also picked up this this DMC claw DMC floss [07:24.000 –> 07:29.000] like floss that you’d use for like cross stitching or whatever. And I do that. And so I was [07:29.000 –> 07:34.000] like I’ll just buy this. And they were like are you sure you don’t have to. And I was like she picked it up. I was I’ll just [07:34.000 –> 07:39.000] buy it’s fine. She slobbered all over this like this poor floss. Yeah like her saliva [07:39.000 –> 07:44.000] is on this. I’ll just buy it. And then I took it home and I actually looked at it. [07:44.000 –> 07:49.000] It’s actually a color of used a lot. So I was like OK good good. I’m glad like you can never [07:49.000 –> 07:54.000] have too much floss. I feel like she was just looking at. Yeah. Yeah. And like you know sometimes you have to [07:54.000 –> 07:59.000] use a little bit of saliva to like make it work anyway. She just is helping you [07:59.000 –> 08:04.000] preemptively. That’s true. That’s true. You have to like kind of get it get it together because you pull [08:04.000 –> 08:09.000] strands together. Mm hmm. Other than that my partner [08:09.000 –> 08:14.000] came here for the weekend and he brought overcooked to [08:14.000 –> 08:19.000] this game on steam. And I’m obsessed. [08:19.000 –> 08:24.000] We played it for like I say two hours. He says three hours straight. I [08:24.000 –> 08:29.000] wanted to play more. He was like I need a break. And I was like we need to keep playing. [08:30.000 –> 08:35.000] Basically did you ever play like Diner Dash. No I don’t think so. [08:35.000 –> 08:40.000] OK. It’s like that. It’s basically OK. It’s like you’re like building [08:41.000 –> 08:46.000] there’s recipes that come across the screen and then you’re supposed to build them. So like if a [08:46.000 –> 08:51.000] salad comes across the screen then you have to grab a lettuce and a tomato and chop them up [08:51.000 –> 08:56.000] and then serve them on a plate and then put them on the like outgoing thing. [08:56.000 –> 09:01.000] So it’s like an assembly game essentially. Yeah it is an assembly game. But the fun part of it [09:01.000 –> 09:06.000] quote unquote fun part about it is that you. So it’s if you’re playing by yourself [09:06.000 –> 09:11.000] you control two people like you [09:11.000 –> 09:16.000] just switch to switch between the two people. But if you have two people it puts one of you on one [09:16.000 –> 09:21.000] one side of the of the kitchen or whatever and then one on the other side. And like [09:21.000 –> 09:26.000] so I might have all of the food and then he has the cutting [09:26.000 –> 09:31.000] boards and then maybe I have the fryers and then he has the plates. And [09:31.000 –> 09:36.000] so I literally have to like throw stuff to him so he [09:36.000 –> 09:41.000] can cut it up and then he throws it back to me and like there’s a barrier in between. So like you can’t [09:41.000 –> 09:46.000] go on the barrier. You’re throwing stuff around both both directions and then [09:46.000 –> 09:51.000] like trying to serve it up. And then also at one point there’s like dirty dishes. So someone has to clean them and you’re [09:51.000 –> 09:56.000] basically trying to like do this cooperation. And if you don’t do the order [09:56.000 –> 10:01.000] fast enough you like lose your tips and you like [10:01.000 –> 10:06.000] lose points for that and stuff. And the whole point I guess is that it’s [10:06.000 –> 10:11.000] it’s got a loose story where there’s the king [10:11.000 –> 10:16.000] onion guy of the world accidentally made undead zombies [10:16.000 –> 10:21.000] and they’re called the unbred. OK I’m totally fine with zombies. [10:21.000 –> 10:26.000] I mean you never see the zombies. The thing is like that you’re trying [10:26.000 –> 10:31.000] to learn how to cook to feed them to start to [10:31.000 –> 10:36.000] stave them off so that they don’t eat the people I guess is the whole point. [10:36.000 –> 10:41.000] Makes sense. I see that. OK. So you’re just having like pet zombies essentially. [10:41.000 –> 10:46.000] You never I like you never see them. OK that’s [10:46.000 –> 10:51.000] I need I need an overcooked version where there’s more zombie interaction. Yeah. [10:51.000 –> 10:56.000] Yeah. So we played that and then we also [10:56.000 –> 11:01.000] started playing board games. So last night Jeff [11:01.000 –> 11:06.000] and I introduced my roommate to Catan. She’d never played. [11:06.000 –> 11:11.000] And we played we played one game and in the beginning of the game she was [11:11.000 –> 11:16.000] like I don’t like this. I don’t know if this is for me. And then by the end she lost by the end of the game. [11:16.000 –> 11:21.000] And she like like I won. I just like and I did the [11:21.000 –> 11:26.000] classic like build two roads take longest road and I have this like secret [11:26.000 –> 11:31.000] development card that gives me a bonus point and I won like bam. Like like I went from like three points away [11:31.000 –> 11:36.000] to winning to like bam I won. Beautiful. And she was just like she was like no [11:36.000 –> 11:41.000] and she like stood up and walked away. She’s like I hate this game and then she turns back [11:41.000 –> 11:46.000] around. She’s like we’re playing again. [11:46.000 –> 11:51.000] I love that. But I mean Jeff and I really want to play more board games. So we went to a card shop [11:51.000 –> 11:56.000] today. A couple card shops today. One game. I don’t know if you’ve seen it’s called arch ravels. [11:56.000 –> 12:01.000] Arch ravels? Why ravels or ravels? Ravels because you knit. [12:03.000 –> 12:08.000] It’s a knitting board game. Oh my goodness. [12:08.000 –> 12:13.000] I’m going to find it for you and then put it in the chat or something. I feel like I need this because it [12:13.000 –> 12:18.000] and it looked like I was like oh it’s probably really expensive. It’s only like 20 bucks. [12:18.000 –> 12:23.000] That’s amazing. Or at least like so some places have like 31. It’s [12:23.000 –> 12:28.000] somewhere between like it’s under 40 for sure. And I was I don’t know board games are expensive. So [12:28.000 –> 12:33.000] so I was like I didn’t bring my wallet and like I wasn’t going to make Jeff pay for it [12:33.000 –> 12:38.000] because he’s not a knitter. Yeah. You compete with fellow knitters to collect [12:38.000 –> 12:43.000] wool finish patterns and make a masterwork. So it looked really amazing. But we [12:43.000 –> 12:48.000] ended up getting a game called love letters which is a card game where you are trying [12:48.000 –> 12:53.000] to like woo a princess. OK. And you’re trying [12:53.000 –> 12:58.000] to like win favors to woo the princess and you just like go back and forth and you try and [12:58.000 –> 13:03.000] make sure that you have the best card. I don’t know. We haven’t played it yet. OK. We also looked [13:03.000 –> 13:08.000] at there were other like really pretty games. There was wingspan [13:08.000 –> 13:13.000] there which I really enjoyed. It’s a fun game. It’s they didn’t have parks. [13:14.000 –> 13:19.000] And I know since we’re talking about parks I just for the fiftieth time have to [13:19.000 –> 13:24.000] apologize for spilling coffee. It’s fine. It’s 100 percent fine. [13:24.000 –> 13:29.000] This is why I sleeve meticulously every single thing that can possibly [13:29.000 –> 13:34.000] sleep. Like my partner spilled water on the table and [13:34.000 –> 13:39.000] like got onto like some of our card like our open boxes that we have and I’m like it’s it’s fine. Yeah. [13:39.000 –> 13:44.000] Like everything’s either in plastic or cardboard. Like I don’t care about the box. It was like it was fine. [13:44.000 –> 13:49.000] We played. Gosh we went down. We you and I both went down to D.C. [13:49.000 –> 13:54.000] to go play like a community day like two or three years ago. I don’t remember. [13:54.000 –> 13:59.000] It’s been a hot minute. And they brought all their all their games and we play parks [13:59.000 –> 14:04.000] with some other friends and it was really fun. And then at one point I spilled coffee and I was just like [14:04.000 –> 14:09.000] I immediately was like I will buy you a new one. [14:09.000 –> 14:14.000] It feels so bad. And I’m like it’s fine. [14:14.000 –> 14:19.000] It haunts me to this day. You’re completely fine. Yeah. Oh you are just going to have to [14:19.000 –> 14:24.000] come over and accidentally spill something on one of your games. [14:24.000 –> 14:29.000] Please do. Please do. Oh yeah. I mean so that’s I don’t [14:29.000 –> 14:34.000] I mean I’ve still been playing Pokemon Go and Pikmin Bloom and stuff like that but [14:34.000 –> 14:39.000] I’ve not really been playing a ton of games but it’s cool. It’s a weird time. [14:39.000 –> 14:44.000] It is a weird time. So jumping into the news. [14:44.000 –> 14:49.000] First bit of news is that Disney Dreamlight Valley has an update launching [14:49.000 –> 14:54.000] April 5th. So very soon and update is called [14:54.000 –> 14:59.000] the Pride of the Valley update. And so it’s it adds adult Simba [14:59.000 –> 15:04.000] and adult Nala and it’s about you know like Lion King. [15:04.000 –> 15:09.000] So there’s not a ton of information about it. It just says like a new realm [15:09.000 –> 15:14.000] opens there’s new characters more surprises. They said that there’s a path to [15:14.000 –> 15:19.000] celebrate the Disney parks. Interesting. So I think it’s just going to be [15:19.000 –> 15:24.000] like a theme park thing. I don’t know. I haven’t played Disney so. I haven’t either. I love [15:24.000 –> 15:29.000] Simba and if Simba is voice acted in here by the original like [15:29.000 –> 15:34.000] Simba I think. Oh I doubt it. I doubt it. I know I highly doubt it. But just the voice actor [15:34.000 –> 15:39.000] for Simba is just like I definitely had a crush on Simba. [15:40.000 –> 15:45.000] Oh my gosh. I don’t even know if Matthew Broderick is still around. What is he doing [15:45.000 –> 15:50.000] nowadays. I don’t know. But I need to hear more of him. He’s 61. He is married to Sarah Jessica [15:50.000 –> 15:55.000] Parker. Oh that’s OK. Wow. [15:55.000 –> 16:00.000] I did not know that. He’s a good egg. He’s done a lot. So yeah [16:00.000 –> 16:05.000] that is Disney Dreamlight Valley. Pride of the Valley [16:05.000 –> 16:10.000] is like interesting because I understand why it’s called Pride of the Valley. But it made me think it was like [16:10.000 –> 16:15.000] like Pride Month something. I was like I got excited. That’s fair. [16:15.000 –> 16:20.000] That is very fair. Some people. So apparently like Pride of the Valley is [16:20.000 –> 16:25.000] something at the parks. Interesting. So they’re trying to like market. That’s smart [16:25.000 –> 16:30.000] for Disney to market their physical location I guess. [16:30.000 –> 16:35.000] I don’t know because someone said something about like one of the comments on Twitter or something was like this is my [16:35.000 –> 16:40.000] favorite part of the parks. So I don’t know. OK. I haven’t been to Disney [16:40.000 –> 16:45.000] years. I’m going to have to change that. And then now my partner hasn’t either. I’m like we [16:45.000 –> 16:50.000] need to go. We need to go. I’ve never been. But like now I’m just like it’s [16:50.000 –> 16:55.000] so freaking expensive. And I mean it probably was always expensive [16:55.000 –> 17:00.000] but like it just seems like hell to me honestly. [17:00.000 –> 17:05.000] Especially in the heat depending on where you’re [17:05.000 –> 17:10.000] going. I just came back from California so I should have like the last time I went to California I went to [17:10.000 –> 17:15.000] Disneyland for the first time. But it’s like a beautiful weather over there. I definitely would not go to the Florida one. [17:15.000 –> 17:20.000] I actually someone a previous partner invited me [17:20.000 –> 17:25.000] to go to the Florida one and he was like I’ll pay for everything. And I was [17:25.000 –> 17:30.000] like hmm but Florida. But Florida. [17:30.000 –> 17:35.000] Understand. Well as a Floridian I 100% understand. [17:35.000 –> 17:40.000] Maybe go to the California one. He does it every year though. So I don’t know. OK. [17:40.000 –> 17:45.000] Next piece of news Mika and the Witch’s Mountain. There is a new trailer. [17:46.000 –> 17:51.000] It is very cute. [17:51.000 –> 17:56.000] The trailer is very cute. There’s like music behind it. It’s a minute and a half long and you kind of [17:56.000 –> 18:01.000] just like see there’s part gameplay and part like animation [18:01.000 –> 18:06.000] of the game. And it just looks really cute. It’s just Mika [18:06.000 –> 18:11.000] like doing her business delivering stuff and you get to see a bunch of the [18:11.000 –> 18:16.000] other characters. And yeah. Did you get a chance to watch the [18:16.000 –> 18:21.000] trailer at all. No but I know I [18:21.000 –> 18:26.000] will watch it after this. But I am very excited for this game [18:26.000 –> 18:31.000] just because I love the other games in this world. I guess this universe. [18:32.000 –> 18:37.000] So looking forward to this and I’m a little behind on the Kickstarter updates [18:37.000 –> 18:42.000] but I’ll get in there. Yeah. It’s still just had the planned release date [18:42.000 –> 18:46.000] of 2023 so question mark. Yeah. [18:46.000 –> 18:51.000] Mary Little Witch and you develop to deliver packages. The flight looks really cute like the flight [18:51.000 –> 18:56.000] of this game. Oh my goodness. It seems like it’s. The Studio Ghibli. Yeah. Yeah. [18:56.000 –> 19:01.000] I’m really excited for just being a little witch doing a little delivery service. [19:01.000 –> 19:06.000] You just did a little cute witch. Yeah. It’s very cute. [19:06.000 –> 19:11.000] I know Kevin is also very excited. Likely something that would be covered on this podcast. [19:11.000 –> 19:16.000] Very likely. Yeah. I think several of us are backers [19:16.000 –> 19:21.000] at this point. So we’ll definitely at least play it at some point. Have a couple triple [19:21.000 –> 19:26.000] million harvests. Next is Coral [19:26.000 –> 19:31.000] Island. So there is a summer update for Coral Island coming out on May [19:31.000 –> 19:36.000] 3rd. No just as May 2023. So somewhere sometime in May there will be an update [19:36.000 –> 19:41.000] for the summer. And there’s a lot of things in this [19:41.000 –> 19:46.000] update. The first thing is that a lot of the characters are going to be getting summer outfits. [19:46.000 –> 19:51.000] So I am here for you. Yes. I know. I love the idea of [19:51.000 –> 19:56.000] characters like changing with the seasons. I know Animal Crossing does this where like every now and [19:56.000 –> 20:01.000] then someone has one of your characters has like a new outfit or [20:01.000 –> 20:06.000] is it only if you give them something like give them the shirt. I think they just change [20:06.000 –> 20:11.000] that. Like there there were some times where I just was like where did you get that. And then I talked to them because like [20:11.000 –> 20:16.000] they can give each other stuff as well. So you can talk to them and they might be like oh someone [20:16.000 –> 20:21.000] gave me this and so sweet. I don’t need this other shirt anymore. Go ahead and have it. [20:21.000 –> 20:26.000] You know something like that. So I also love that these like [20:26.000 –> 20:31.000] NPCs like have their own original style. So like I’m sure you can dress people essentially in Animal Crossing [20:31.000 –> 20:36.000] but these these these are like holistic characters who like what they like. And I [20:36.000 –> 20:41.000] am here for these outfits and want some of these shirts too. Yeah [20:41.000 –> 20:46.000] like give me this give me this wah banana shirt. And I want [20:46.000 –> 20:51.000] real life. It’s a banana that looks like a dolphin. [20:51.000 –> 20:56.000] Banana dolphin shirt. [20:56.000 –> 21:01.000] They can make so much money by selling these shirts. [21:01.000 –> 21:06.000] There’s also a new festival called Pet Day. The Pet Day Festival. In it there’s a couple [21:06.000 –> 21:11.000] different things. There’s a rodeo called the Wild Ride. So you ride this like bowl [21:11.000 –> 21:16.000] which is super cute. You just like push a button super super fast to try and make sure [21:16.000 –> 21:21.000] that you stay on the bowl. They have a cow competition where you [21:21.000 –> 21:26.000] try and like race your cows against other people [21:26.000 –> 21:31.000] and your cow might get distracted. You have to like pull them back to reality. There’s a chicken [21:31.000 –> 21:36.000] competition. I don’t know what this is about. When I first saw it I was like oh I don’t [21:36.000 –> 21:41.000] like chicken fighting like that doesn’t look good. But then when you’re doing like [21:41.000 –> 21:46.000] when when it shows that you’re like hitting buttons they don’t do anything. [21:46.000 –> 21:51.000] They just kind of like stare at each other which I’m here [21:51.000 –> 21:56.000] for. Yeah just chickens being chickens. [21:56.000 –> 22:01.000] There are 20. They’re talking about an animal shelter that will have 20 [22:01.000 –> 22:06.000] adoptable pets. And then they have the outline of all of the pets. They’re very cute. And there’s a little lizard [22:06.000 –> 22:11.000] and so cute. And there’s some bunnies and then many dogs and cats [22:11.000 –> 22:16.000] and one of the dogs looks like it could possibly be an Australian Shepherd. And I am [22:16.000 –> 22:21.000] here for it. Very cool. I [22:21.000 –> 22:26.000] have officially gotten it because I think I will be playing it for the podcast. Spoiler alert. [22:26.000 –> 22:31.000] So I am here for one the bathing suits [22:31.000 –> 22:36.000] and also here for the outfits and now this pet festival thing. Yeah. [22:36.000 –> 22:41.000] Oh wait maybe this is like a staring competition. Maybe. [22:41.000 –> 22:46.000] That’s what I’m wondering. That’s what it looks like. They’re glaring at each other. [22:46.000 –> 22:51.000] The little squinties. Yeah. I don’t think chickens really [22:51.000 –> 22:56.000] blink. Anyway there’s also a new customization and it shows [22:56.000 –> 23:01.000] a beard customization where you can put it put flowers in your beard. I love that. [23:01.000 –> 23:06.000] Oh my goodness. OK. And then I’m trying to scroll down to the thing that is the most important thing to me. [23:06.000 –> 23:11.000] OK. There’s also fruit plants and you can find critters. Here it is. Insect [23:11.000 –> 23:16.000] and critter traps quote as part of the catching mystery [23:16.000 –> 23:21.000] you will unlock now unlock traps used to catch insects and critters. You can place these on the [23:21.000 –> 23:26.000] ground and in the ocean. There are four traps two for insects and two for critters. Here’s a look at the tracks in [23:26.000 –> 23:31.000] action and it shows you catch an insect and then it’s a cute [23:31.000 –> 23:36.000] little caterpillar. Oh. So [23:36.000 –> 23:41.000] I’m here for that. Yeah. This is like everything about this game is [23:41.000 –> 23:46.000] beautiful. OK. I’m really excited about this. [23:46.000 –> 23:51.000] It’s like I believe it’s still in early access. Is out now. Early access is out now. Yeah. [23:51.000 –> 23:56.000] Oh wow. It’s from Indonesia. I did not know. Yeah. I bought it with the intention of [23:56.000 –> 24:01.000] playing it but I had to put more time into our main topic for today. [24:01.000 –> 24:06.000] So I haven’t touched it yet. Yeah. Yeah. So that is that. [24:06.000 –> 24:11.000] And then the last bit of news is about Rune Factory 3 Special [24:11.000 –> 24:16.000] Golden Memories Edition. So this is an edition [24:16.000 –> 24:21.000] of Rune Factory 3 Special that has a custom box [24:21.000 –> 24:26.000] on the outside custom outer box. I don’t really know what that means and a copy of the game. [24:26.000 –> 24:31.000] But you also get an acrylic standee of a bunch of the characters. [24:31.000 –> 24:36.000] The original soundtrack CD. A custom planner. [24:36.000 –> 24:41.000] Excuse me. I know. That sounds awesome. I kind of want this [24:41.000 –> 24:46.000] just so I could have all the goodies. Really. They look so cute. Yeah. Like the CD is [24:46.000 –> 24:51.000] as true. Beautiful. It really is. Yeah. Maybe this will be [24:51.000 –> 24:56.000] what makes me want to play Rune Factory 3 Special. [24:57.000 –> 25:02.000] It’s all you, Min. Uh huh. Uh huh. Uh huh. [25:02.000 –> 25:07.000] There’s also an exclusive swimsuit mode DLC. Sure. [25:07.000 –> 25:12.000] Okay. Sure. Interesting. Yeah. So that [25:12.000 –> 25:17.000] they have announced it and preorders for that will open soon. [25:17.000 –> 25:22.000] TM. And there’s apparently if you [25:22.000 –> 25:27.000] preorder on the XSEED store you can add a golden wooly keychain for [25:27.000 –> 25:32.000] $5 more. And I wouldn’t say it looks cute but it looks [25:32.000 –> 25:37.000] it still looks like something I would want. Maybe. [25:37.000 –> 25:42.000] I don’t know. Yeah. Looks a little like. Oh the wooly is ridiculous. [25:42.000 –> 25:47.000] Right? Yeah. Like it’s not cute but it’s like ridiculous and I love it just for it being ridiculous. [25:47.000 –> 25:52.000] Yeah. Very cute. I mean it’s weird. [25:52.000 –> 25:57.000] Uh huh. Uh huh. Exactly. There’s like a blank stare to its face. [25:57.000 –> 26:02.000] Yeah. Okay. I don’t play Rune Factory. [26:02.000 –> 26:07.000] So yeah. That is the news. [26:07.000 –> 26:12.000] So. [26:13.000 –> 26:18.000] Moving on to our main topic. Uh huh. [26:18.000 –> 26:23.000] I’m laughing because I am I am shame. [26:23.000 –> 26:28.000] I have played three minutes [26:28.000 –> 26:33.000] of this game. And I feel so bad but I just have [26:33.000 –> 26:38.000] it’s been a it’s been a heck of a time. It’s been a month. Mentally, [26:38.000 –> 26:43.000] emotionally, physically. It’s been a year. Literally. I don’t know. [26:43.000 –> 26:48.000] So I mean I have thoughts about the game. Like I’ve looked at it. [26:48.000 –> 26:53.000] I’ve I’ve played three. So but I figured [26:53.000 –> 26:58.000] I would just kind of like go over like kind of read what has been said about the game. [26:58.000 –> 27:03.000] Like what they have said on their steam. [27:03.000 –> 27:08.000] And then also just kind of like interview you because you play more than three minutes. [27:08.000 –> 27:13.000] I just how my playtime and it’s a very cursed number. [27:13.000 –> 27:18.000] Sixty six hours. Nice. [27:18.000 –> 27:23.000] You can’t play anymore. I can’t. I have to put it down right here. [27:23.000 –> 27:28.000] Yeah. Right here. Okay. So just to remind people this [27:28.000 –> 27:33.000] is what the bio of research story on steam quote set out to [27:33.000 –> 27:38.000] discover and record plants and creatures for the Violet archive. Grow crops, [27:38.000 –> 27:43.000] tame animals and build the perfect farm. Forge friendships along the way as you begin your life as a [27:43.000 –> 27:48.000] researcher. Unquote. So yeah you’re kind of like you’re like a [27:48.000 –> 27:53.000] scientist in this area which is why both of us were like blessed. [27:54.000 –> 27:59.000] Yes. And it is important to note that this game still [27:59.000 –> 28:04.000] is in early access. They would they said that they would like it to be in early access [28:04.000 –> 28:09.000] for somewhere between six to six months to a year max. [28:09.000 –> 28:14.000] So it’s I mean it just came out [28:14.000 –> 28:19.000] of early acts like to like to buy and to play like a couple weeks ago. [28:19.000 –> 28:24.000] Maybe a month ago. Yeah. So and they said that when it [28:24.000 –> 28:29.000] goes from early access to a full game like the price will go up. So if you are [28:29.000 –> 28:34.000] interested in this or you know. Yeah. Get it now because you will get it for less [28:34.000 –> 28:39.000] expensive. Yes. So I will read a little bit more of [28:39.000 –> 28:44.000] the additional content and features that they plan to include in the full version. They [28:44.000 –> 28:49.000] said that they want to have more creatures fish and crops and to expand on the [28:49.000 –> 28:54.000] researching mechanics. They’re going to have more NPCs more romance [28:54.000 –> 28:59.000] bowls which I’m assuming means romance like options more heart [28:59.000 –> 29:04.000] events and they want to have like a marriage system. So think of like Stardew Valley. Yeah. [29:04.000 –> 29:09.000] Additional features such as festivals more content for [29:09.000 –> 29:14.000] decoration and building and then very importantly controller support. [29:14.000 –> 29:19.000] So currently does not have controller support which has been interesting since I’ve been playing it on [29:19.000 –> 29:24.000] Steam Deck. So it’s it’s been a good way to actually [29:24.000 –> 29:29.000] test run I think non controller games on the Steam Deck and it’s [29:29.000 –> 29:34.000] actually not that bad. Like I can right click or left click with the right trigger [29:34.000 –> 29:39.000] and like right click with the left trigger. So it’s been actually pretty nice and I almost kind [29:39.000 –> 29:44.000] of even still prefer it even though it doesn’t really have this controller support on the [29:44.000 –> 29:49.000] Steam Deck itself. So that’s that’s my review for the Steam Deck. It’s it’s still playable. [29:49.000 –> 29:54.000] That’s good. Yeah. I was going to say I had it just on Steam because it is [29:54.000 –> 29:59.000] only on Steam. I think that’s my big downfall is that [30:00.000 –> 30:05.000] the computer in this room. So my other computers and Mac and most games are only available on [30:05.000 –> 30:10.000] Windows. And so and if I come and play a game in this room I have to like put both my [30:10.000 –> 30:15.000] dogs away and like just kind of not just like a sit down and play a [30:15.000 –> 30:20.000] game and have fun like it’s kind of its own thing. So [30:20.000 –> 30:25.000] but I digress like if it was on Switch like if [30:25.000 –> 30:30.000] they had it on Switch I probably would have played it because I can play that on my couch. [30:30.000 –> 30:35.000] Yeah. So before we jump into like what the early access version has [30:35.000 –> 30:40.000] specifically and then I kind of like ask you about these different aspects. [30:40.000 –> 30:45.000] What are your first impressions? Like what do you think of the graphics and the sound and the [30:45.000 –> 30:50.000] like the overall gameplay? I will say first impressions are overall good. [30:50.000 –> 30:55.000] I feel like it’s it’s a very cute game. Like it has like it has more of a [30:55.000 –> 31:00.000] little wood I think like feel to it than than like pixel [31:00.000 –> 31:05.000] pixels like Stardew. So it’s more like chibi I think kind of. [31:05.000 –> 31:10.000] But the art for like there’s like a research book and the art for that is like really good. I really [31:10.000 –> 31:15.000] like the drawings of like all the things that you’re like interacting with. [31:15.000 –> 31:20.000] Some of the character like pixels aren’t like since they’re so small [31:20.000 –> 31:25.000] it can be a little hard to like differentiate but at the same time they’re like it’s like a fantasy [31:25.000 –> 31:30.000] setting so there’s like different species like there’s like elves and like druids and stuff. So just [31:30.000 –> 31:35.000] having that different coloration of like skin types helps a little bit with that. Like [31:35.000 –> 31:40.000] who am I talking to? Oh yeah it’s Theo. [31:40.000 –> 31:45.000] But yeah I it’s it’s very I will say it’s very Stardew-esque. [31:45.000 –> 31:50.000] It feels a lot like Stardew and maybe that’s why it was like so easy like to jump into this since I’ve [31:50.000 –> 31:55.000] been on such a like Stardew like kick. Like you have like the four [31:55.000 –> 32:00.000] seasons like they’re looking to do the marriage system adding festivals. So I think it’s essentially going [32:00.000 –> 32:05.000] to be a research version of Stardew which I don’t [32:05.000 –> 32:10.000] mind. I am here for it. Exactly. There’s definitely [32:10.000 –> 32:15.000] just as much to manage I think as there is in Stardew. So there’s a whole bunch of [32:15.000 –> 32:20.000] things. There’s so many more different animals than in Stardew. [32:20.000 –> 32:25.000] And we’ll get into that I think later but it’s it’s good. I would [32:25.000 –> 32:30.000] I would recommend it. Mm hmm. Cool. I was also just trying to see if they have it planned that [32:30.000 –> 32:35.000] they want to go to Switch. I hope so. I would I would [32:35.000 –> 32:40.000] think if I don’t know anywhere in there if they had enough like buy in I think if [32:40.000 –> 32:45.000] they like. Yeah this game does well enough. I’m sure they can afford to port it. [32:45.000 –> 32:50.000] So it might just be time or if they want to spend their time elsewhere [32:50.000 –> 32:55.000] in another game or something. I don’t know. OK. So the first topic this is [32:55.000 –> 33:00.000] like so this is what they have said like quote the early access version of research story [33:00.000 –> 33:05.000] features core systems and gameplay. And then so I’m just going to like mention it and then ask you [33:05.000 –> 33:10.000] like what your thoughts are on it. So the first core gameplay system is [33:10.000 –> 33:15.000] to research farm tame and fish. And it says quote players can complete [33:15.000 –> 33:20.000] research scrolls by observing different species growing crops [33:20.000 –> 33:25.000] taming animals and fishing. There are currently 60 plus. Why not just say [33:25.000 –> 33:30.000] the number researchable so crops creatures and fish. Maybe [33:30.000 –> 33:35.000] because they like planning to like add like more as they go on. [33:35.000 –> 33:40.000] There are currently providing like a specific number [33:40.000 –> 33:45.000] then they would need to keep updating it with new updates. That’s true. So [33:46.000 –> 33:51.000] yeah. So what what are you. So let’s start with the research [33:51.000 –> 33:56.000] scrolls by observing the different species. What is how does that work. So there’s three different [33:56.000 –> 34:01.000] sorry there’s four different types of research things researchable [34:01.000 –> 34:06.000] as I guess is what they’re calling it. And they usually like there’s a lot of foraging [34:06.000 –> 34:11.000] involved in this game and that’s honestly I think the easiest way to make money early game is [34:11.000 –> 34:16.000] it’s not a huge map. So just literally during like a route like every day. [34:16.000 –> 34:21.000] So the first thing you do with like anything that you collect is find it first [34:21.000 –> 34:26.000] and then like if it’s specifically like a plant if it’s like an herb or [34:26.000 –> 34:31.000] really calling flowers and herbs or vegetables and fruits. The first thing you [34:31.000 –> 34:36.000] do is like harvest the thing. Then you have to like put it into your little mic like there’s a little [34:36.000 –> 34:41.000] microscopic. What’s the [34:41.000 –> 34:46.000] thing that lets you like zoom in closer. Microscoping glass. No it’s like [34:46.000 –> 34:51.000] the hand held glass. There we go. [34:51.000 –> 34:56.000] The microscope in your hand. Yes. The portable [34:56.000 –> 35:01.000] microscope. So so there’s like a different tab for that [35:01.000 –> 35:06.000] and there’s like different goals to I guess fully research [35:06.000 –> 35:11.000] quote unquote research a thing and that’s how you earn you earn the resource scroll. It’s very [35:11.000 –> 35:16.000] very much similar to the legends of archaea system kind of. [35:16.000 –> 35:21.000] Yeah. So you have like four four like three to four maybe three to five different tasks [35:21.000 –> 35:26.000] for each item. And then once you complete all their tasks you officially have locked to [35:26.000 –> 35:31.000] your scroll you can put in the library and you’ve officially researched this thing to its [35:31.000 –> 35:36.000] extent. And most of it is observing it [35:36.000 –> 35:41.000] like the first the first one the first task is usually observing it out [35:41.000 –> 35:46.000] like in the wild or whatever. So before you can collect seeds for plants you have [35:46.000 –> 35:51.000] to observe it like two to three times and then you can collect the seeds and then you have to actually grow the thing on your farm. [35:52.000 –> 35:57.000] And that’s how you do the you do the thing. [35:58.000 –> 36:03.000] And like the little research page that like pops up in like your research journal it’s [36:03.000 –> 36:08.000] like pretty detailed like it has like a description. So like I’m looking at camel meal it’s like a small [36:08.000 –> 36:13.000] flower with a sweet herbal scent. It shows you like what it drops. So obviously like the flower and the [36:13.000 –> 36:18.000] seeds and then the information that takes three days to grow edible blooms said to be good for brewing tea. [36:18.000 –> 36:23.000] And then it has growing conditions and foraging locations. So each. [36:23.000 –> 36:28.000] Wow. So yeah it’s very in-depth. So like you could just look at this thing and see exactly [36:28.000 –> 36:33.000] when like what season it grows in. Does it have to be close or far away from water. [36:33.000 –> 36:38.000] Does require a different type of like fertilizer. Does require a different type of soil. [36:40.000 –> 36:45.000] So it’s pretty in-depth. I really like that aspect and got a little frustrated sometimes [36:45.000 –> 36:50.000] kept planting like tomatoes and I was like why why isn’t this thing growing. And it’s because [36:50.000 –> 36:56.000] it needs to be next to a light source. So like they have like little lanterns and they even have like a shade cloth [36:56.000 –> 37:01.000] for things that need to be partial shade which is really cool. Wow. So it’s a it’s [37:01.000 –> 37:06.000] pretty in-depth. I don’t know like I can’t like I’m not super familiar with some of these plants I can’t tell [37:06.000 –> 37:12.000] like if that’s exactly the conditions you need to grow them. But I would assume they did that research [37:13.000 –> 37:18.000] research going into this game. I would hope that the [37:18.000 –> 37:23.000] game that has research in the name was researched. Right. Right. Exactly. [37:23.000 –> 37:28.000] So a couple of them I think might be like a little made up like the creatures [37:29.000 –> 37:34.000] like they have chicken but then they also have a sprout kitten which is just a cat like and [37:34.000 –> 37:39.000] has like a little plant on its head. You don’t have a sprout kitten. [37:39.000 –> 37:44.000] I don’t but I need one now. Like that is like the two [37:44.000 –> 37:49.000] like vibes that I want is like plants and cats. So it makes sense that you would [37:49.000 –> 37:54.000] put them together. Uh-huh. [37:54.000 –> 37:59.000] And like they have a grass bun which is essentially a bunny. They have a fox. [37:59.000 –> 38:04.000] The one that you are excited about is literally just called the mountain pup. [38:05.000 –> 38:10.000] Uh-huh. Yeah it’s probably supposed to be a Burmese mountain dog. Uh-huh. But the colors. [38:10.000 –> 38:15.000] So Stella my Australian Shepherd puppy she has the color like everyone says like oh [38:15.000 –> 38:20.000] Burmese. And I’m like no she’s an Australian Shepherd actually. [38:20.000 –> 38:25.000] And like I think that the tri color is actually like I’m going to look this up because [38:25.000 –> 38:30.000] I keep saying this and I don’t know if this is right. But the [38:30.000 –> 38:35.000] tri color is the original color of Australian [38:35.000 –> 38:40.000] Shepherds. Oh it just says black and white. Well [38:40.000 –> 38:45.000] dogs are so weird. Like their breeds are don’t make any sense. They’re all one species. So [38:45.000 –> 38:50.000] I don’t know. I don’t quite understand it. But yeah so she’s a so she’s a black [38:50.000 –> 38:55.000] tri. So she gets she has some she looks like a little Burmese. [38:55.000 –> 39:00.000] And but so I mean that means that the the quote [39:00.000 –> 39:05.000] unquote mountain dog and research story looks like my dog. [39:05.000 –> 39:10.000] So I saw it in the trailer and I was like I need it. I know. She is a little mountain [39:10.000 –> 39:15.000] pup. Oh my gosh I haven’t. She’s in my little mountain. Uh-huh. She is. [39:17.000 –> 39:22.000] OK. What about the fishing. Well actually there’s a lot more to the creatures too. So [39:22.000 –> 39:27.000] like let me keep going. Sorry. Keep going. Creatures. Oh you’re fine. I’m just like going in order of like this [39:27.000 –> 39:32.000] research journal. It’s like that’s the next tab. I’m like I want to go in this next order. OK. [39:32.000 –> 39:37.000] So like looking at the creatures like the same thing like you see them out in the wild to you [39:37.000 –> 39:42.000] like you pet them which we don’t recommend petting wild animals because [39:42.000 –> 39:47.000] you don’t have wild animals. Yeah please don’t. You’re going to get hurt and it’s not good for [39:47.000 –> 39:52.000] them. But anyway in this game you pet them you collect one of their like little like dropped [39:52.000 –> 39:57.000] animals like for the mountain pup. It’s a tricolor for and [39:57.000 –> 40:02.000] then you observe them out in the wild and then build a creature pen on your farm [40:02.000 –> 40:07.000] and you can house them in these creature pens which is very cute. [40:07.000 –> 40:12.000] And you just like build up like your friendship level by like feeding them and and [40:12.000 –> 40:17.000] petting them every day and then eventually they’ll like provide like some sort of produce. So the mountain pup [40:17.000 –> 40:22.000] produces bones for example and the wood ram produces milk for whatever reason. [40:22.000 –> 40:27.000] I guess it’s supposed to be a goat. I don’t know. And like the fox drops meat. [40:27.000 –> 40:32.000] My personal. I understand. My personal mountain [40:32.000 –> 40:37.000] pup finds trash. [40:38.000 –> 40:43.000] Any walk that we go on she finds every piece of trash and she [40:43.000 –> 40:48.000] wants to just chew it. But I’m going to try and teach her to like trade it so that she can [40:48.000 –> 40:53.000] so that like I’ll just start bringing trash bags or like garbage bags. And you can just clean up everything. That’s [40:53.000 –> 40:58.000] exactly. And then she finds trash and then she can bring it to me and then she puts it in the bag I’ll give her a treat [40:58.000 –> 41:03.000] and then she can find another one. And so like I need to figure out how to make it a trick. [41:03.000 &ndash

It might be a couple of months late but this is a huuuuuge episode. First up was the PlayStation State of Play, where Sony showed off some PSVR2 goodness, Tekken 8 and a God of War Ragnarok story trailer. Following on from that is the massive September 2022 Nintendo Direct, where Nintendo finally lifted the lid on the title of the Breath of the Wild follow up called Tears of the Kingdom, Miyamoto re-explained Pikmin Bloom for some reason, Fire Emblem Engage got announced (releasing very soon now!), 43 farming simulators got shown, Octopath Traveler 2 was announced AND GoldenEye is coming to Switch Online. Phew!! Finally in Game Pass Gamble Marc reveals his thoughts on the frankly baffling SkateBird and Graham makes his next pick.
Nintendo's Indie World presentation for November has come and gone, and the gang comes together to chat about what our favorite showings were! Did we dig (drill?) the presentation? You also get another lecture on Pikmin Bloom because of course you do.

"Category: Pink Round Puff he's the BALL... Alien SUPAstar!" Today we are talking about beloved Nintendo icon Kirby!!! Created by then-19-year-old Masahiro Sakurai (who later went on to create the Super Smash Bros. series), Kirby first hit the scene in 1992 with Kirby's Dream Land for the Nintendo Game Boy. Kirby was designed to be approachable to new and younger players unfamiliar with games, and since his inception Kirby has been known as a series with something to offer for everyone: beloved by newcomers and veteran players alike. Kirby superfan and artist Alejandro Muñoz (@sequin.horchata on IG) joins us to talk about our connection to this loveable pink boy, our first and favorite Kirby games, (including Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards and the criminally underrated Kirby Air Ride) and our thoughts on his latest escapade in the 2022 Switch game, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Kirby's first true 3D platformer. We also discuss Kirby-creator Masahiro Sakurai's recently started YouTube Channel, where he discusses game development concepts as well as retrospectives on his past projects (including a video on Kirby's Dream Land, which he released the night before we recorded this episode!)Later in the show in "What else we're gay for" this week, we discuss Yakuza: Like a Dragon, HBO's Hacks, Pikmin Bloom, Tower of Fantasy, and more!========Get in touch with us!EMAIL US at gayforplaypodcast@gmail.comFOLLOW G4P Twitter: @GayForPlayPodInstagram: @GayForPlayPodTwitch: twitch.tv/gayforplaypodSupport the Show & Unlock Bonus Episodes on our PATREON========CREDITSIntro and outro music by Connor Marsh (@connorjmarshmallow)Show art by Benny Kessler (@retro.spectacle.studio)Special thanks to our patrons: Blueberri Mary, Elijah Punzal, Trevor McTavish, Travis Ryans & Martha Turner
We've had a lot of inky, squishy, messy Nintendo news lately! This time it's all about the recent Splatoon 3 Direct and Kirby's Dream Buffet! Are we excited for more splatting? What is the mode we most want added to Dream Buffet? What if we told you it was already partially in the game? We also talk about the Kirby 30th Music Fest, what we've been playing, and a good bit about Pikmin Bloom!
We back, Skele-fam! It's the ultimate gaming episode as we recount our IRL Pikmin Bloom-ventures. Yes, there are at least four people that play this game and Seattle's Pikmin Bloom Community Day this weekend was a nightmare. Definitely one of the dumbest things we've ever participated in, and that's saying something. But we still had fun! Plus true crime rabbit holes, gaming peripherals, and Nintendo uncles are also discussed. It's a rip-roaring time that wraps up with your questions! It's almost non-stop gaming discussion on our gaming podcast (well, if you count Pikmin Bloom as a game, which at least Grace does). Thanks so much for your support and hope you enjoy! This movie is a mess and Hollywood decided to blame the person who's fault it was not - Brenden Fraser. This movie is a non-emotional corny mess even down to the Looney Tunes TM sound effects. What should have been a man's struggle to return to life from a nightmare world, instead is packed with flat laughs and stupid bits. And we can't even talk about Whoopi Goldberg who is phenomenally terrible.Hate Watching is the show that is not the go to show.#henryselick #brendenfraser Been playing a new game on my phone Pikmin Bloom. Its not new to the world but it is new to me. As I walk around I plant flowers and am then rewarded with Pikmin who then go do jobs for me which leads to them getting fruit which I feed to them to get more flowers. Rinse and repeat. But I love it. Ive got my own little army that follows me around and does what I see. I now why people yearn for power. I have it now and I will never give it up. Until I get bored and move on to the next thing.
Now's a great time to go take a walk!
