In this packed episode, Haley and Alyssa recap race day stories from both the recent IRONMAN Arizona, where Haley was spectating her coached athletes, as well as the recent T100 World Championship Final in Dubai. They also welcome two rising stars in the sport, Hana Al Nabulsi and Naomi Ruff. Hana is a Team UAE triathlete who was on the ground at this year's T100 World Championship Final. With the NCAA triathlon championships on the horizon this weekend, we are so excited to welcome NCAA coach Jocelyn Bonney to the show! Jocelyn is the assistant coach of the University of Arizona triathlon team in Tucson, Arizona, which is in only its second year as a program. Heading into this year's race, Arizona is ranked second in the country, so in this interview Jocelyn told us all about what they have done these past two years to get to that level. Danielle recently became a pro at 39 years old, but prior to that she balanced her other hobby of being a plane pilot alongside her career as an architectural designer. We are thrilled to welcome Emma Meyers to the show this week as she prepares for the upcoming World Triathlon grand final in Torremolinos, Spain. Emma is a PTS4 category para triathlete, and at the age of 18, just competed in the Paris Paralympic games. She also just started her freshman year at Colorado Mesa University, where she is a member of their division one triathlon team, and recently became the first para triathlete to compete in an NCAA triathlon. In honor of mothers day this past weekend, this week's episode features two women who are navigating the elite triathlon space as new moms. Our first guest, Kayla Pokorny found out she was pregnant with her second child last year during her rookie pro season, and has been quick to step back into racing with competing in St Anthony's just a few months postpartum. Our second guest is Lara Gruden, who had been competing as a pro for a number of years prior to getting pregnant with her first baby. Lara tool a different approach to motherhood as an athlete, deciding to step away from racing after giving birth, but still continuing to train and embrace a triathlon centric life supporting her husband's goals in the sport.In the episode, we got to hear both women's perspectives on what it's like to be a mom and elite athlete in like today, as well as the unique highs and lows this journey can bring. Michanda Myles is a triathlete who has competed at a variety of distances after getting her start in the sport when she was already an adult.
