Have you ever considered running, walking, or even "wogging" a 5K every day for a whole month just for the fun of it? For Adventuretime Adam, that's just another way to celebrate! To kick off his birthday month with a focus on movement and mindfulness, Adam started the "5K for May Days" challenge. His journey into endurance sports began with a chance encounter in a park in 2020 after moving to Maryland. This sparked a passion that quickly evolved from sprint races to the remarkable achievement of completing Ironman Texas in 2024—with mere minutes to spare! Adam's growth was fueled by curiosity, community, and unwavering faith. In this episode, Adam openly discusses his initial struggles with swimming, including a memorable mid-race moment where he had to flip onto his back. He shares how tri-swim classes transformed his technique, making swimming his favorite discipline. He also highlights the crucial role of the Mid-Maryland Triathlon Club and Rip It Events in shaping his experience as both an athlete and an ambassador. This conversation goes beyond race-day statistics, delving into the true essence of the sport. It's a powerful reminder that triathlon is more than just crossing a finish line; it's a journey of connection, calling, and courage. So,Let's Tri this! Our favorite episodes are these Q+As where we answer listener questions on all of the hottest topics! It's called a "No Secrets" Q+A because we try to take you behind the curtain, speculating about ideas that might not be talked about in public very often. Let's get spicy! The main topic was Cam Wurf's reported 200 grams of carbs per hour at Ironman Texas to set a bike split record. These extreme carb totals are starting to become more prevalent in triathlon. Do we think they're here to stay? Surprisingly, we have doubts. Forgive us, carb daddy, for we have sinned. And there were so many great topics! Other topics: heat suit long runs, race week thoughts, our new favorite recovery product, our initial thoughts on the Nix hydration biosensor, high carb and GI concerns, minimum dose heat training, AI titles, sodium intake during training and racing, kids and hydration, track and speed training for ultras, 2nd opinions in medical settings, working through low motivation and mental health struggles, structuring training camps, and more.May your quails be peaceful and your critics get a minor case of plantar fasciitis. We share the latest update on Sam Laidlow's health and revisit the ongoing question around whether he will be able to return to racing in 2025. Finally, we take a look at the newly released start lists for T100 San Francisco and highlight the big names confirmed for the next stop on the tour.
We review the racing from the MTR at the Paris Olympics and discuss Hayden Wilde's crash, Taylor Knibb's result, plus are we seeing a shift away from ‘Gold Meaning Everything?'. Tomas Rodriguez made a name for himself by beating IRONMAN World Champion Patrick Lange at IRONMAN Texas last April. Since then, he's been hit with an anti-doping rule violation after testing positive for the banned substance Clomiphene. Tomas has released a statement blaming contaminated food. Could he be telling the truth? In sport the ability to assess who is eligible for a male or female category is fundamental to making that category work. In February of this year, as she was training for Ironman Texas, pro triathlete Angela Naeth suffered what could have been a career-ending injury: a femoral neck stress fracture. In March, she had to have surgery in order for it to heal properly. Just last week, she raced Challenge Cap Quebec, a half-distance triathlon, which proved to be a successful rehearsal for bigger goals ahead. But how did she get from needing to use a mop to stand up to crossing the finish line of a 70.3 almost 6 months later? In this episode, Angela tells her story. Her success lies not only in her positive mindset, but also in her willingness to let go. And at the end, she talks about her biggest takeaways from dealing with such a severe and scary injury.

300lbs Released, Not Aerodynamic, Yet, but a Hell of a Redesign: My name is Scott King 46 years old. Huge all my life. In 2006 I had gastric bypass. Day of surgery I was 552lbs. Lost weight but as these surgeries seem to go I gained all my weight back. I tried to have gastric again and was denied. I heard Vinnie Tortorich on the Adam Carolla and Dr. Drew show and as a last ditch effort I tried NSNG. I have lost 300lbs from it. Never been healthier. I have set my unicorn of all goals and that's the Ironman Texas in 2025. I hope this journey inspires the hopeless to take a change and encourage others.Quote: Less of me with NSNG Today's Top 3 Takeaways: Kitchen vs the gym.Healthy lifestyle choices vs surgical band-aids.NSNG Lifestyle vs a crash diet. But as I got into triathlon training, I realized I was actually a strong floater, and I wasn't the strongest swimmer. That is, I was very buoyant and so I mistakenly thought that meant I was a good swimmer. That was a whole entire different beast and my first try was a pool swim, a short one, then you go into open water swim. That's a whole different animal too now that you got currents to deal with, even in a small body of water. It'll expose every flaw or weakness you have in any technique.17:30 – I'm going to build up to that Ironman level of training. But with that comes incredible expenses. entry fees, all of that stuff. I mean, just simple stuff like hydration, nutrition, and that sort of thing. Buying shoes, because I'm a big guy, I wear out shoes, bicycle stuff, everything has a huge expense. Let's not forget I have three daughters. I've told Vinnie before I live in a trickle down economic system in my house, nothing trickles down to Dad, I'm the afterthought.24:15 – I had gastric bypass back in 2006 and I lost a good chunk of weight. Like a lot of people though, I started putting the weight back on. Roughly, around 2016-17, I was pretty much back exactly to where I was when I had gastric bypass beforehand. So I've tried to have gastric bypass again, because oddly enough, and I say this in quotations if you can get both or whatever. It was the only thing that ever worked for me. Which is kind of ironic because I'm trying to have it again because it didn't work for me.26:00 – So I downloaded a PDF, just saying screw it, I gotta check this No Sugar No Grains out. It was a simple list of don't do this, don't do that. I'm married, so I get this list, I'm pretty good at it, but I still didn't do anything about it. But one day, we were out front in the front yard. At the time, my two and a half year old daughter ran out to the street. I'll stop right now, nothing bad happened, because it's a very quiet street, but she was already in the road before I...
