“Healing is about returning to the here and now.” – Jeremy Sherr In this first part of our two-episode special, we sit down with one of homeopathy's great teachers — Jeremy Sherr, founder of the Dynamis School for Advanced Homeopathic Studies — for a truly profound conversation on nature, evolution, and the deeper meaning of healing. Jeremy reflects on his 45-year journey in homeopathy and shares insights that challenge long-held ideas like Hering's Law of Cure, offering instead his own philosophy — the Law of the Here and Now — where true healing begins by bringing patients back to presence. Together, we explore: - The surprising link between the evolution of wheat and the evolution of human health - How symptoms can arise when we lose touch with the present moment - The art of follow-up prescribing and understanding a patient's unfolding journey - And why homeopathy, at its heart, is not about chasing the perfect remedy — but about restoring the natural flow of life This is a conversation that moves beyond materia medica into the soul of homeopathy itself — reminding us that healing is not a destination, but a living, breathing process of returning home to ourselves.

It's part 2 of our dive into the Insect Apocalypse, with our good friend Dr. Jason Dombroskie from the Cornell University Insect Collection! In this part, Jason fills us in on the drivers of the Insect Apocalypse and - most importantly - what we can do about it.This episode was recorded on August 21, 2025 at Rattlesnake Hill Wildlife Management Area in Dalton, NY.. Episode NotesDuring the episode, we made the claim that 40 million acres of the US is lawn, and that that area is equal to all of the country's National Parks put together. True? Well, sort of. The claim that the U.S. has about 40 million acres of lawn—roughly equal to all our national parks combined—is only partly true. A NASA-funded study led by Cristina Milesi estimated that turfgrass covers about 128,000 km² (≈31 million acres) of the continental U.S., making it the largest irrigated “crop” in the country (Milesi et al., Environmental Management, 2005; NASA Earth Observatory). Later analyses and popular summaries often round that up to ≈40 million acres (e.g., Scienceline, 2011; LawnStarter, 2023). By comparison, the total land area of all officially designated U.S. National Parks is about 52.4 million acres, while the entire National Park System—which also includes monuments, preserves, and historic sites—covers about 85 million acres (National Park Service, 2024). So while lawns and parks occupy areas of similar magnitude, lawns do not actually equal or exceed the combined area of the national parks. Is it better to mulch leaves on your lawn or leave them be? Here's what we found: It's generally best to mulch your leaves with a mower rather than rake or remove them. Research from Michigan State University found that mowing leaves into small pieces allows them to decompose quickly, returning nutrients to the soil and reducing weeds like dandelions and crabgrass (MSU Extension, “Don't rake leaves — mulch them into your lawn”, 2012). Cornell University studies similarly show that mulched leaves improve soil structure, moisture retention, and microbial activity (Cornell Cooperative Extension, “Leaf Mulching: A Sustainable Alternative”, 2019). However, in garden beds, wooded edges, or under shrubs, it's often better to leave leaves whole, since they provide winter habitat for butterflies, bees, and other invertebrates that overwinter in leaf litter (National Wildlife Federation, “Leave the Leaves for Wildlife”, 2020). The ideal approach is a mix: mow-mulch leaves on grassy areas for turf health and leave them intact where they naturally fall to support biodiversity and soil ecology. We're endlessly influenced by culture and society, so it's important to question assumptions, and ask ourselves: In what ways do we self-censor and in what ways do we silence others? Just as there is no one best time zone, there is no one best way to speak, to look, to act. We should always seek out data, but remember that it's not definitive. But not every person is interested in this good news.In the dark of night, Patrick and his new friend, Jandamarra, are kidnapped by bushrangers who need an Aboriginal person to show them the way to a great treasure.DOUBLE CROSS DOWN UNDER continues The Imagination Station series from Focus on The Family! With each book, kids are whisked away with cousins Patrick and Beth to embark on a new journey around the world and back in time. Kids experience unforgettable, action-packed adventures when they travel through the Imagination Station series. You know those tests kids take in the first grade? It's the first time they have to fill in a sheet of paper covered in little dots. Well, when one of her twins took that test, author Marianne Hering found out that her son Lewis couldn't read.So along with a fellow parent and coworker—Paul McCusker—she dove into the world of historical fiction for kids. She wanted to create some stories that had action and adventure but were easy to read. And one last thing—they needed lasting value. So they put in Christian history and some good role models.Since she had been a professional writer and editor at Focus on the Family for more than a decade, she had a good idea how to start The Imagination Station book series. Paul McCusker was a producer and scriptwriter for Adventures in Odyssey, so he had a pretty good idea about how the Imagination Station should work.Marianne Hering lives in Colorado, a place where the natural beauty makes it difficult for her to stay indoors. But she stays inside to write books for kids and their families. And her son Lewis? Well, he's in college now learning to be a chemical engineer! He still likes numbers better than letters. Elaine Lin Hering joins the Parity Podcast to discuss the role that silence plays in each of our lives. Her 2024 book, Unlearning Silence, explores the ways in which we are silenced in the workplace, and the roles we play in silencing others. Driven by her own experience in being encouraged to speak up, yet not having her words welcomed, Elaine began pondering the larger dynamics in play and the consequences of remaining silent. According to Elaine, finding one's voice is more than what you say or don't say, it is about how you move through the world and show up. She encourages each of us to work on unlearning silence in our own lives to find greater happiness, as well as urges leaders to consider how they are silencing their team members and thereby squelching an open exchange of ideas. Both illuminating and insightful, this episode delivers another round of practical tips for leaders and team members alike.

You can listen to the full episode (filled with more wisdom) here: Episode 57: Unlearning Silence, why 'Just Speak Up' isn't enough.   Key Discussion Points: 00:59 “Just Speak Up” Is Bad Advice: This advice ignores all of the silence that we've learned and all the times that we've had to deal with retaliation for speaking up.  04:10 Unlearning Silence: Unlearning silence is not only about individuals unlearning their silence and speaking up, even though that is necessary. It is also about leaders unlearning the ways that they are silencing those individuals.  07:55 Design Your Communication Flow: Design a communication flow that works for you instead of defaulting to the set communication patterns. 09:58 The Babble Hypothesis of Leadership: Most people associate the frequency or quantity of words that come out of your mouth with leadership potential no matter the value of the words said.   In Summary: Elaine Lin Hering challenges us to rethink workplace communication and leadership norms. She urges leaders to design intentional communication flows that empower all team members.   Resources from this episode: Unlearning Silence: How to Speak Your Mind, Unleash Talent, and Live More Fully by Elaine Lin Hering Follow Elaine Lin Hering on Linkedin or check out her website.   Ready to make a change? → If you are struggling to navigate your corporate career but are ambitious and have goals you want to accomplish quickly, Olivia is the coach for you. In this episode of The TRU Leader Podcast, Tracy and Michelle are joined by Elaine Lin Hering. Together, they talk about Elaine's book, "Unlearning Silence" which addresses the detrimental effects of self-censorship in workplaces, highlighting the contradiction between the societal expectation to speak up and the unsafe environments that often prevent it. She emphasizes the critical role of leaders in creating safe spaces for open dialogue, advocating for balanced conversations that consider both logical and emotional perspectives. Elaine also stresses the importance of intentional interactions, where everyone's unique insights contribute to genuine dialogue and collective learning. The episode examines how past experiences with authority shape current communication habits, advocating for the questioning of ingrained assumptions to nurture individuality and voice. It underscores the need for clear communication in relationships, illustrated by a personal anecdote, "toiletgate," and introduces "4 anchors" for effective communication: starting with the why for speaking up, connecting the dots on how we think, articulating support needs, and embracing resistance. The discussion highlights the importance of overcoming outdated beliefs, valuing diverse experiences, combating loneliness, and fostering supportive communities, particularly for marginalized individuals and leaders promoting inclusivity. The narrative also touches on personal growth, the significance of emotional support in relationships, and the value of gratitude and connections.
