UPDATE: Blaze's father, Ben, has learned the 4 have crossed over into Canada. Blaze Doomsday Déjà Vu -Blaze Thibaudeau, 16, is missing FROM Gilbert, AZ, in eerily similar circumstances as JJ Vallow and Tylee Ryan. Blaze's mom Spring, his sister Abi, and Uncle Brooke, are believed to hold the same doomsday beliefs as Lori Vallow and Chad Daybell. As with Chad Daybell, Julie Rowe was in the picture early on and seen as a big influence in the beginnings of these extreme beliefs with Spring. The four of them were last seen at the airport in Boise ID. Let's dive into what we know so far. Today we will discuss someone described as the "spiritual leader" of alleged murders Chad Daybell and Lori Vallow, alleged abuser Tim Ballard, and recently-imprisoned Jodi Hildebrandt. Thom Harrison is a prominent Utah therapist who published a book called "Visions of Glory" in 2012, focusing on three of his alleged near death experiences (including personal visitations from Jesus Christ). As has been uncovered over the past few years, Thom Harrison' and his book "Visions of Glory" have been highly influential across the Mormon "prepper" neo-fundamentalist community, and particularly in the lives and stories of Chad Daybell, Lori Vallow, Tim Ballard, Jodi Hildebrant, as well as other "preppers" such as Julie Rowe, Rod Meldrum, and alleged abuser-therapist Maurice Harker. Part of what has made Visions of Glory so successful is that Thom (through the pseudonym Spencer) claims in his book that his visions were approved of by an un-named Mormon apostle (who now is known to be the late Neal A. Maxwell). Finally, we will discuss how the Mormon church was made aware of Thom Harrison and his book in the 2012-2013 time period, and chose to promote Thom to bishop instead of to punish him and/or stop the publishing of his book. Lauren Matthias (Hidden True Crime Podcast), Megan Connor (Lori Vallow's cousin), and Mindy Caldwell (Mormon super-sluether) will be joining us for this panel discussion. Abortion is on the ballot in five states tomorrow. But the fight over abortion in Michigan is making significant waves. It's hard to be anywhere in the state and not hear about Proposal 3, the amendment that would enshrine an individual's right to an abortion in the state constitution. It's time to put together all the pieces and show you where these horrible evil beliefs came from. In this episode, I show you where these beliefs came from. The belief in "portal travel", "multiple mortal probations", "zombies", 'choosing the 144,000" and so much more. Lori Vallow fell for these beliefs after becoming part of the Preparing a People movement. AVOW was the forum that everyone was discussing these doomsday beliefs and what the "visionaries" like Chad Daybell, Mike Stroud, Denver Snuffer, Julie Rowe, and more were teaching. Chad Daybell also convinced LDS members that Rexburg Idaho was the promised land. The "Safe Zone." These people instilled fear in their followers and convinced many that the end of days was here and they better be ready, But, in the end, there are still believers practicing this, in my opinion, nonsense. Good people and innocent people are dead thanks to their evil ideology. They are a Hydra Cult. Take a listen. Since the founding of Mormonism in 1830 there has been a core belief in the imminent 2nd coming of Jesus Christ (thus the "Latter-day Saints" portion of the Mormon church's official name). Within modern Mormonism over the past few decades there has been an increasing trend towards "end times" preparedness - wherein ultra-orthodox Mormons begin preparing for the 2nd coming of Jesus by selling their 401k's and retirement plans, moving to rural areas, attending "Prepper" conferences like "Preparing a People," building fortresses, stockpiling food/weapons/ammunition/tents/trailers, denying traditional health care to children, etc., and preparing (i.e., "prepping") for the arrival of Jesus. This movement has been at best benign (for a few), but for many has led to extreme behaviors, divided families, financial ruin, a host of emerging "prophets" (e.g., charlatans) who prey on this mentality (e.g., Julie Rowe), and in some cases murder (e.g., Chad Daybell and Lori Vallow story). Emma was raised in a Mormon Prepper household. In Part 3 of our 3-part series with Emma, she discusses "coming out" as lesbian while as BYU student, and how her emerging LGBTQ identity, along with family rejection and problems with her family's "Prepper" beliefs, led her to lose faith in the Mormon church, and to become alienated from her orthodox Mormon family. ————— We are 100% donor funded! Two of the felony charges against "cult mom" Lori Vallow have been dismissed. They are the felony counts of desertion and nonsupport of children. This comes three weeks after investigators found the remains of Lori Vallow's children on property owned by her new husband Chad Daybell. Today Nancy Graces talks with Julie Rowe, a former friend of Daybell, who says he predicted his wife Tammy's death.
When someone loses their faith in Mormonism, there are several paths often followed. One is to become agnostic or atheist, and never to rejoin a religion again. One is to re-join a Christian church. One is to follow a more fundamentalist Mormon path (e.g. Denver Snuffer, Preppers, Julie Rowe). And one is to become susceptible to new age beliefs and other gurus or cult leaders. Today we will be talking about the last option. Teal Swan (born Mary Teal Bosworth) is described on her web site as an American spiritual teacher, author, and social media personality. She was raised in Logan, UT, and as a teenager was connected to controversial Mormon therapist Barbara Snow, who was at the center of the Satanic Ritual Abuse panic in the 1990s and 2000s. After a very turbulent childhood, which involved self harm and suicidality, Teal pursued modeling for a time, and eventually began pursuing the path of becoming a spiritual guide. Teal's teachings on how to manage mental health issues have often been described as unconventional and she has received criticism for how she attracts fans, with some critics nicknaming her "The Suicide Catalyst". At present she has 700,000 followers and has been covered by the BBC, and in several documentaries, including a recent documentary on Netflix. Her history of work is highly controversial because it incorporates various super controversial and problematic ideologies and practices such as: The cultivation of repressed/recovered (false) memories. Claims of Satanic ritual abuse. Energy healing. Clairvoyance. Numerology. The Law of Attraction. A belief in a "Third Eye." The usage of crystals to "raise your vibration or frequency." A belief in multiple lives. A belief that she is an alien from another planet. A belief in spiritual projections/possessions. When dealing with suicidal clients, referring to suicide as "pushing the reset button" for a future life. Communal living. Jared Dobson was raised LDS, served an LDS mission, got married and divorced, became suicidal, and started searching for answers in New Age Spirituality. He came across Teal Swan, and became a follower in her movement (a "Tealer") for 2 years. He ended up moving in with Teal and became a part of her communal family in Park City, Utah. They were romantically involved for 5-6 months, were set to have a child together, and as the relationship began to fray, Jared was kicked out of the commune and checked himself into a psychiatric ward (UNI at the University of Utah). He has been recovering ever since. This is Jared's story of his experiences with Teal Swan. This story also has important connections to other cult-like phenomena occurring in recent times, including the Lori Vallow/Chad Daybell/Julie Rowe/Prepper phenomena. It also is an insider's view into the emergence of a modern cult.

[paypal-donation] In our next conversation we will talk about alternative medicine, faith healing, and even what has been referred to as magic. Are there similarities between people like Julie Rowe and early Mormon practices like seer stones? Dr. Jonathan Stapley compares the similarities! https://youtu.be/aHcWX36ycAA Jonathan: In the face of pharmacological a failure or a clinical failure in medicine, Mormons have been open to a blessing from a priesthood officer or an authorized healer, whether they're male or female throughout our history. So, we're open to the miraculous. Now, Latter-day Saints, also have been open to other aspects of supernatural cures. So, whether it's a botanical cure or a special prayer. In the 20th century, these impulses—so the cunning folk that is no longer battling witches, but instead a botanic healer is manifest in society complementary to alternative medicines. So, Mormons are not in any way holding a monopoly, a complementary and alternative medicines. You can go to the bookshelves of your favorites on Whole Foods Market that's frequented by the liberal elite, and you can hang out with evangelicals and the south and they are both doing similar things in this area of complementary and alternative medicine. When faced with a challenge, humans want hope. They find hope in people offering these alternative cures. Now in Mormonism, we have really interesting relationships with these, alternative cures. Sometimes it's strictly botanical, but sometimes, for example, there was a popular healer, Julie Rowe, who was part of this Christ-centered energy healing movement. The Church has spoken out against a little bit recently in the past several years, but there are individuals that function again on the peripheries of society that are willing to provide hope to those that need it. And I won't say that Julie Rowe has. You can trace her lineage through successive waves of cunning folk thought to the present. I don't think that that's necessarily true, although there are remarkable parallels between energy healing and magnetism that was popularized in the 19th century. I don't think there's a direct lineal descent from the cunning women to Julie Rowe, but I do think that they serve a similar function in society and by understanding one contextualizes the other. Julie Rowe and "Spencer" Energy Conference Call.
Julie Rowe is an active, believing Mormon, and is the author of two books: "A Greater Tomorrow: My Journey Beyond the Veil" and "The Time is Now." In these books, Julie details her near-death experiences, wherein she claims to have received divinely inspired visions of the past, present, and future. Julie and her peers/followers are heavily focused on the "Latter-day" aspects of Mormonism and Christianity, with a heavy emphasis on predicting pending global disasters in the United States and abroad. Julie's prophesies (along with those of her peers) have led upwards of 10,000+ believing Mormons to make somewhat drastic life decisions including selling their homes, selling off their 401Ks, purchasing gold, and purchasing thousands of dollars worth of "preparatory materials" (e.g., food storage, tents, trailers, guns, ammunition) for the pending global demise, which is scheduled to begin in earnest in September of 2015.
