A federal judge has quashed two grand jury subpoenas issued by the DC U.S. Attorney's Office against Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell and the Federal Reserve Board of Governors. Hawk reads through the full 27-page ruling by Judge James Boesberg, unpacking the legal reasoning behind one of the most significant judicial rebukes of the Trump administration's weaponization of the criminal justice system. The subpoenas targeted Fed building renovation cost overruns and Powell's congressional testimony — neither of which the court found to contain any credible evidence of criminal activity. Judge Boesberg concluded that the subpoenas' dominant purpose was to harass and pressure Powell into either lowering interest rates or resigning, making way for a more compliant Fed chair. The ruling draws on Trump's own Truth Social posts, statements from White House officials, and the pattern of DOJ prosecutions targeting political opponents including Adam Schiff, James Comey, and Letitia James. Jeanine Pirro, U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, held an unhinged post-ruling press conference in which she badly mischaracterized the judge's legal findings on probable cause. In the early hours of Oct 4, 2025 in downtown Indianapolis, former NFL QB and Fox Sports analyst Mark Sanchez got into a confrontation with Perry Tole, a 69-year-old truck driver collecting used cooking oil. The dispute reportedly started over blocked access/parking near an alley. During the struggle, Tole pepper-sprayed Sanchez and then stabbed him multiple times, saying it was self-defense after Sanchez allegedly tried to get into his truck and attacked him. Sanchez fled and was later hospitalized with serious injuries. Sanchez was arrested and initially booked on misdemeanors; prosecutors have since upgraded to felony battery resulting in serious bodily injury (a charge that can carry 1–6 years if convicted). "I will attend the meeting, along with Treasury & Commerce Secretaries," President Donald Trump wrote in a post on social media platform Truth Social.A federal judge on Wednesday said he has found probable cause to hold the Trump administration in criminal contempt of court for violating his orders to turn around planes carrying deportees to El Salvador. U.S. District Judge James E. Boasberg said he the administration must try to “purge” itself of a contempt finding or he will launch hearings and potentially refer the matter for prosecution.The Department of Justice is seeking a federal court injunction requiring Pine Tree State schools to immediately stop transgender boys from competing in girls' sports and return all athletic records and titles to their rightful female owners.
