There's a short piece from 'Shiaght Laa' about the story associated with a man from the curragh in Jurby, Mylecharaine, and the song made about him, and this follows on from a subject we had in the programme before this. In 'Claare ny Gael' we're looking at the first chapter of the book, Dracula, by Bram Stoker, and Jonathan Harker is in a coach as the darkness comes on.

It will be a good time to see the spectacular Milky Way, Cassiopeia - rich in legend - should be visible, and Howard talks about the planets and other activity beginning to be visible in our autumn skies. This month's music break is Enya singing Everyone's Gone To The Moon, which leads neatly into part two of the programme, when Howard brings us the latest space-related news. For the first time, the Isle of Man features in TWO major space stories! Space-X on the Isle of Man - could it really be happening? It seems so - and Howard has the details. And Excalibur Almaz heads to a new home in Jurby! You'll probably have seen pictures and videos of it making it's slow progress from the South of the Island to its permanent base in the Museum in Jurby, but Howard has the full story here. And speaking of stories - Howard Parkin's long-awaited new book goes on sale in mid-September 'Space for Dark Skies'- an astronomical miscellany from the Isle of Man will be available from 15th September in bookshops around the Island, or direct from Howard himself - howardparkin@manx.net And you can use that same email address if you have any astronomy-related questions you'd like Howard to answer during our monthly Manx Sky at Night programme

We speak to recently-retired politician David Cretney. And, changes to the bus timetable, which upset some in Jurby, will 'lead to more efficient use of resources' say infrastructure bosses.
For the last 20 years, Ramsey based husband and wife Steve and Alison Taylor have been raising funds for projects, and delivering humanitarian aid, to help some of the world's poorest people, through their Drop Inn Ministries charity shops here on the Island. Now their focus has slightly altered and as well as continuing to support global aid projects, they are also developing and supporting an important local outreach for anyone wanting a little gentle help with their mental or emotional wellbeing - Renew Wellbeing Spaces are places where it's OK to be not OK. Alison and Steve provide Renew3 in Ramsey (in Water Street opposite the War Memorial at the end of Parliament Street) and they are involved in the Renew Space open each Monday in the Community Centre in Jurby, too. There's also a Renew Well, next door to Broadway Baptist Church in Douglas. Renew spaces are simple cafe-style places where hobbies, activities and often food is shared, and there's a quiet room or space where the inner practices of wellbeing can be shared. Renew Spaces have support from mental health professionals, to ensure that there is appropriate extra help available for those who need it. Listen as Alison and Steve explain how Renew Spaces work, and who can benefit. Father Dennis Blackledge is a Roman Catholic Jesuit priest who rose to fame around 3 years ago when his church, St Francis Xavier in inner city Liverpool, was the setting for the acclaimed BBC TV drama 'Broken' and Fr Dennis was the religious advisor - helping actor Sean Bean to fully embrace his role as Father Michael Kerrigan. But today Fr Dennis talks about his own real-life priesthood - what it means to be a Jesuit, and, yes, he DOES tell the piranha story! AND there's music too! From the St Michael Singers, and from Libera To find out more about the Renew Spaces project, see their website www.renewwellbeing.org.uk To find out more about local Renew Spaces, search for their Facebook pages For Ramsey - search for Renew3 (meets from noon each Thursday and Friday) For Jurby - search for Drop Inn's Renew Space at Jurby (meets in the Community Centre each Monday afternoon from 2pm - 4.30pm) For Douglas - search for Renew Well (meets next door to Broadway Baptist Church each Wednesday from 11am to 3pm-ish!)

The Earroo Nane Community Project in Jurby & the 2017 Prime Stock Show
We were recently joined on the show by Anne Hodgson, who is the Community Fundraiser for the Walton Centre Charity. Anne was on the Island especially to support a number of people who were raising funds for the centre by taking part in the Parish Walk. She was invited by the family of one young woman, Katie Holmes, who has spent almost a year as an inpatient at Walton following a serious car accident. Christy was able to spend a short time in the company of 21 year old Katie and her mum, Yvonne, to find out a little more about their story and how the Centre has helped them. After the Parish Walk weekend, we received this wonderful message from Yvonne: “The walkers did very well in difficult conditions! Jeff finished at Peel, Rob stopped at Jurby and the joint total raised by the two of them for the Walton Centre is around £1500 - with thanks as well to the customers of Motor Mall, whose customers also contributed and who provided the support car for Yvonne to drive.
