My guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is Karina Kantas, author of the book Illusional Reality (Duology). Karina is the bestselling author of 14 titles covering most fiction genres, including thriller novels and young adult fiction, many of which have won awards. She's also an award-winning filmmaker and has won numerous awards for her documentary and short films at International Film Festivals. (You can find them in the Trophy Room.) She's also a BookTuber, podcaster and radio host and runs Author Assist to help independent authors with promoting and marketing their books. In my book review, I stated Illusional Reality (Duology) is the two-book fantasy romance series. Both books start on earth but quickly take us to an enchanted realm in which Becky is known as Thya and happens to be a princess. Her parents, the rulers at her birth, whisked her away to earth to keep her safe. But now it is time for her to return and save Tsinia from the evil prince bent on domination. Becky turned Thya has to figure out a new world, the laws that govern the land, an unusual way of speaking, and her own magical abilities - plus her attraction to someone she is forbidden to love. The book moves quickly and kept me guessing at what would happen next. And although the ending of book two (The Quest) wrapped up nicely, Karina left room for more. Who knows! Living in Florida Rustie is able to access quite a few Disney attractions and 'Paradise Island' is probably the best Waterpark. She doesn't go on the waterslides as she is a bit chicken, but is happy to observe others. Karina chose to go with the same QuestionWhere is the best waterpark you went to In Corfu, Karina goes to 'Aqualand' - it has a 'Lazy River' inflatable rings ride which flows through the Park as well as a 'Wave' pool. In England when she was younger she was hurt in on a waterslide ride and doesn't go on them any more.Question 2Karina picked the 'Tuxedo' Where do you visit on the internet at the start of each day? At 10am every morning Karina is on the internet for work purposes checking messages and notifications. For leisure she joins 'wotpad/com' where you can type up, write and read stories.Rustie chose the 'Camel' Which of the major theme parks would you most like to go to? She feels that the TV is like a drug, in that it makes people forget communication and responsibility, it is addictive and is the reason why society is so angry, it also promotes fear and anxiety and could be the downfall of humanity Instead of love and community it stirs up all that we are afraid of.Question 5Karina chose the 'Wedding'How many lullabies do you know? A minute of singing later and Karina had come up with 6 Rustie added another 1. A short discussion followed about the Brothers Grimm and their collection of folklore and fairy tales, which, along with lullabies, are in truth, really quite scary. Rustie decided on the 'Table football'When did you just have to keep your mouth shut? Rustie mimed keeping her mouth shut. She says her 'filter' left about 10 years ago and if she doesn't bite her tongue she can be very scathing.

[4:21] The contrast between the traditional publishing house versus the hybrid was so vastly different [7:40] To get your foot in the door, through the big five, they want to know how many social media followers you have how many likes you have it doesn't matter if your book is great. [8:18] You bring something to the table and they bring the other parts to the table and you end up with more royalties and you get to keep your rights [8:46] It not good to force yourself to write you need to be in the zone because when you are in the zone everything flows out and the character's start speaking to you. [23:27] I am awake but my brain was sleeping, I wondered how; when I am thinking about my work, but the readings showed that though I was awake, my brain is sleeping. Bruce Boise worked for nearly 24 years in the pharmaceutical industry, first as a hospital representative, and then as a sales manager in the Great Lakes region. After losing his job as a whistleblower, he spent portions of the next 17 years working with the United states Justice department on two separate False Claims Act cases against his former employer, Cephalon/Teva, a neuro bio-tech company. I was bullied throughout my schooling. From lower school right to college. It seemed a target was always on my back. . I published my first book back in 2008. Thank to S.E.Hinton's The Outsiders, In Times of Violence was born. . I came on holiday to Greece when I was 18 and met my husband but it wasn't all roses. And I became ill from stress and developed type 1 diabetes. .I continued writing and self-publishing my books. As my health continued to deteriorate. . In 2015 I started up Author Assist. Offering affordable author services to authors. . I was cyberbullied by my local friends and ended up staying in my house for two years before I started being social again. . My new set of friends abanded me when I developed Fibromyalgia and couldn't keep up with their social activities. . Again I was alone. But I thank God for my virtual friends, my amazing Greek husband and my two girls. . I live with chronic pain, chronic insomnia, depression, memory problems, an underactive thyroid, type one diabetes, nerve damage in my neck, disintegrating discs in my back, the start of carpal tunnel and many other added to the growing list. I can't walk far without the aid of a stick. My health stopped me living. My daughters look after me . My 11-year-old is like my nurse knowing the medication I take and making sure I'm okay. My husband is like a housewife and cleans and does the things I'm supposed to do, but can't. And none of them ever complain. . Even though I live this deliberating life, I have an amazing family, who will do anything for me. I have 13 books published and working on another 2. Author Assist has been going for 5 years now and my services keep growing and I just been nominated in the top 100 of the Global Book Community Award. .
