Greetings! Welcome to the Season 5 premiere of Stamper Cinema! We're kicking off the new season with an absolute 90s banger. TRAINSPOTTING! If you haven't seen this one - here's its summary straight outta wikipedia... Trainspotting is a 1996 British black comedy-drama film directed by Danny Boyle, and starring Ewan McGregor, Ewen Bremner, Jonny Lee Miller, Kevin McKidd, Robert Carlyle and Kelly Macdonald in her film debut. Based on the 1993 novel of the same title by Irvine Welsh, the film was released in the United Kingdom on 23 February 1996.[5] The film follows a group of heroin addicts in an economically depressed area of Edinburgh and their passage through life. Beyond drug addiction, other themes in the film include an exploration of the urban poverty and squalor in Edinburgh. Sounds good, right? It is good! And joining us to unpack this good one is Stamper Cinema regular, ATX's very own, John Rohe! Enjoy! Trainspotting links IMDB Rotten Tomatoes Wiki Stamper Cinema links https://www.stampercinema.com

Greetings! In this episode of Stamper Cinema we take a trip back to 1956 to discuss the Stanley Kubrick (yes, that Stanley Kubrick) heist flick THE KILLING. The Killing is the story of career criminal Johnny Clay (Sterling Hayden) attempting one last job before he goes straight and marries his fiancee. Joining his team of misfits for the heist to steal millions of dollars from a racetrack is a sharpshooter a crooked police officer, a bartender and a racetrack teller named George. Of course, because this is a heist flick / film noir, there's always the issue of the femme fatale - and Sherry, George's wife fits the bill perfectly. Hello! I'm beyond excited to share this week's episode with you. I'm joined by writer Dylan James Quarles (The Ruins of Mars) to talk about the 90s Luc Besson sci-fi, action-adventure, but sometimes also love story, The Fifth Element. Topics covered range from Paul Verhoeven to 'maximalism' to Gary Oldman's chameleon-like greatness to the odd sexualization of an alien-baby universe savior. Food for thought: can you think of any other films in the history of cinema where the film's good guy doesn't actually ever have a scene with the film's bad guy? Enjoy! Hi there! In this episode we're going back to the biggest film of 1982. Okay, well maybe not. But today's film still holds a warm place in my heart - as well as this week's guest - Bob Thompson. Of course, we're talking about the film that introduced us to songs like 'Reproduction,' 'Back to School' and 'Lets do it for our Country' (as well as introduced me to Michelle Pfeiffer). That's right - Grease 2! *Standing ovation* And while it's argued this film may have killed the franchise it still gave us incredible banger track after banger track that rivals even the original Grease's soundtrack. Yes, I mean that with absolute sincerity. Don't judge me! Just sit back and enjoy the smooth sounds of this week's show.  Film Links IMDB Rotten Tomatoes and Trailer Stamper Cinema Links Click here for all my links
