My guest, Dr. Chris Earnshaw, has such a wide portfolio of creative pursuits: BA in Japanese and Chinese from London University, S.O.A.S. PhD in neuroscience and CEO of a medical device manufacturer, living in Tokyo, Japan - amateur cellist. Lecturer at the School of Social Sciences, Waseda University, Tokyo Former Professor of Asian Studies, Daito Bunka University, Tokyo BioMagnet therapist helping people living with Parkinsonism have a better QoL Past Grand Historian and 33° Freemason Author of books on pharmaceuticals, Tarot, Japanese art and Freemasonry; neuroscientist; cellist; Cordon Bleu licensed cook Chris says, "I help run an organization that is 300 years old, but is always reinventing itself: Freemasonry. Our vision is to spread Light, and to teach “a system of morality,” but the bottom line is that we make “good men better,” by getting involved with their communities, charitable work, and education. About Chris: "I have written extensively on the relationship between Freemasonry and spirituality - my four books are in a series titled 'Spiritual Freemasonry.' Freemasons are a select community of people who are truth seekers, and yet at the same time devote time and money to support charities around the world." Dr. Earnshaw's curious mind is his driving force. He is not content getting answers given to him by someone else but he prefers feeding his own curiosity of wanting to know and understand things at a deeper level.   While at University, Dr. Earnshaw studied Japanese, Chinese and ancient Chinese literature with a focus on philosophers such as Confucius, Menzies, and Lao Tzu. The in-depth knowledge of these philosophers, and others like  Menzie, Edgar Cayce, Bruno Groaning, and Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi.  Have inspired his creativity. Coming from a  freemason practice and having lived and traveled to China, since his retirement 8 years ago, Dr.Earnshaw has completed his quadrology on  Freemasonry called https://www.amazon.com/Freemasonry-Initiation-Light-Spiritual/dp/B085RTMBPN (Freemasonry initiation by light,) which he writes four books from the angle of  Freemason is based on Chinese Daoism. According to Dr.Earnshaw, creativity doesn't stem from one part of the brain, the brain has no demarcation. The brain is like the Chinese ying-yang symbol, they look like two fishes, one's black and one's white and they're connected, but inside the black, there's a little circle of white, and inside the white, there's a circle of black.  Dr. Earnshaw's creative writing process look like when writing this book -He first jots down his thoughts and ideas on paper, then he uses Microsoft word to put his written words into an electronic format which enables him to restructure, and arrange the information chronologically acceptable, which translate into a book.  You may wonder how Dr. Earnshaw solves any creative challenges he comes across. He recommends: Stimulating or studying or thinking about a problem in-depth for at least an hour, a maximum of two hours, and then let it go and then going for a walk. You will find while you're walking, all sorts of ideas, pop into your mind. In conclusion, In your creative space, whether it's in the middle of the day or at 3 am in the morning, the creative brain is able to put you in a state of flow. Don't fight it, just embrace it, because that's when your inspiration is being delivered to you.   Dr. Earnshaw's Book:https://www.amazon.com/Freemasonry-Initiation-Light-Spiritual/dp/B085RTMBPN (Freemasonry Initiation by light) Chris Earnshaw Website: https://earnshaw.jimdofree.com/ (Chris-earnshaw.com) Twitter: https://twitter.com/authorearnshaw (@authorearnshaw) YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/SpiritualFreemasonry (Spiritual Freemasonry) TuneIn:https://tunein.com/podcasts/Education-Podcasts/Freemasonry-in-seven-minutes-or-less-p1422799/ (Freemasonry in seven minutes or less)

Anne Michaud, Journalist and Author of "Why They Stay"

Play Episode Listen Later Jan 10, 2022 15:11

In this episode, we talk with Anne Michaud, Author of "Why They Stay" As a leading political reporter for the Wall Street Journal, Anne Michaud covered Bill Clinton's 1996 re-election campaign, Anthony Weiner's 2005 mayoral bid, and Eliot Spitzer's rise and fall as New York's governor from 2006 to 2008. Few folks have had the front row seat to the spectacular fall from grace of these politicians and the women who endured the cataclysm with them. Which got her wondering--as so many of us have--why did most of these women stick it out--or stay for as long as they did? Were they simply doing the Stand By Your Man blues, or did they have other motivations? Why They Stay: Sex Scandals, Deals, and Hidden Agenda of Eight Political Wives is the result of her musings and her deeply researched and fascinating analysis. Anne chose to look at eight couples and explore the similarities between them -- how the women responded to the crisis and its aftermath. These women made bold decisions that revealed their own agendas.  · Hillary & Bill Clinton: One masterful decision launched her political career · Jackie & John F. Kennedy: Coping in bed and all the way to the bank · Eleanor & Franklin D. Roosevelt: A lifeless marriage sparks a social champion · Marion Stein & Jeremy Thorpe: Riding out British scandal to provide for her sons · Wendy & David Vitter: Married to the Party versus married to a man · Silda Wall & Elliot Spitzer: Real-life drama spawns TV show The Good Wife · Huma Abedin & Anthony Weiner: How to win against a man and the Media · Melania & Donald Trump: A foreigner's desire to live the American dream Anne found some interesting correlations between all of them and Elizabeth Woodville, the "White Queen" of English history. A widow, she married Edward IV for love, endured his promiscuity to stay and wield power, and ultimately, outlasted him to build the Tudor legacy through engineering her daughter's marriage to Edward's successor. Anne looked at 5 factors in her books--how deeply are these women committed to being the family emotional caretaker, how patriarchal values drive their actions, how motivated are they about building a family legacy, the degree to which financial and emotional security drives their actions, and do they have a sense of patriotism that inspires them to overlook the misdeeds of their husband for the greater good. She assigned each a "White Queen Quotient" measured against Woodville's iconic role as the ultimate political spouse in the face of scandalous male behavior. While we as spectators can only speculate about what drives them, Why They Stay makes a great case for what causes each of these women to play out their roles as stay-beyond-the-embarrassment wives. If Hillary Clinton had left her marriage, she might only be known as the spurned wife of a retired politician. Instead, she became the first woman to run for U.S. president on a major party ticket, a U.S. Senator and Secretary of State. These political wives aren't powerless pawns. They are shrewder than you expect. Why They Stay pulls back the curtain to reveal why women throughout history stand by their man...for better and for worse. In addition to her reportage at the Wall Street Journal, Anne previously wrote a nationally syndicated op-ed column for Newsday from 2008 to 2018. She has won more than 25 writing and reporting awards and has twice been named "Columnist of the Year," by the New York News Publishers Association and the New York State Associated Press Association. Her work has appeared in the Los Angeles Times, The Boston Globe, Newsweek, BusinessWeek.com, Crain's NY Business, Cincinnati Magazine and more. Anne has appeared on numerous television and radio programs, including WNYC's The Brian Lehrer Show, NY1's Reporters' Roundtable, and Fox 5 News WNYW....

Small book, big mission: challenging what it means to be human. https://www.linkedin.com/in/vanessaferlaino (Vanessa) has done many things, and has been many people; she has been an award-winning corporate innovator at a national telecommunications company; she has been an executive at a gene therapy company, and she has also done investment and portfolio strategy for medtech companies. She has also watched her father lose his battle to brain cancer at the age of 49; took too long to realize how a man had taken her voice away, and has made many other questionable choices that forced her to address the trust and value she places on herself. “But are these the things that define my person? My being?” she questioned. "I have had to be many people — but have I had to be these people for myself? Or for others? With a new lens, Vanessa sees the system we live in, but thankfully, as an artist, she also sees beyond this framework into the larger world we exist with. She puts these two visions together to share what being #beinghuman means and how the movement was born. “To me, being human is about our truth — and standing tall when our truth, our voice, is challenged. #Beinghuman is about putting all of these pieces of ourselves together so they can co-exist inside of us. I founded Vienna Studios to tell true stories of darkness to light and address human nature in this system. And this starts with my debut book, Human, which takes you through a humbling journey of human ignorance of both ourselves and others, and how it can blind us from all that is truthfully in front of us.” (Listen for the fun story behind the name "Vienna Studios") Website: https://vanessaferlaino.com/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/ferlaiva Instagram: @vanessaferlaino LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/vanessaferlaino

Today's guest is https://www.bluesforthemuse.com/ (Stephen Altman) Stephen is an author with a hankering for the old world and poetry. He fell so deeply in love with poetry from John Keats that he went to Rome to visit his grave where he was inspired to write an entire novel… in verse. Blues for the Muse: Visiting the grave of the immortal Romantic poet John Keats, Hollywood smoothie Tom Jerome spies the Woman in the Azure Dress—the muse he's been longing for. But Viña Fumento is married to the mob and Jerome has his work cut out for him. Blues for the Muse is a hilarious meditation on life, love, and movie magic, all told in rhymes that go down smoother than a glass of Spumante. Website: https://www.bluesforthemuse.com/ (https://www.bluesforthemuse.com/) A ROMANCE IN ROME... Blues for the Muse, a comedy-adventure set in modern-day Rome, is an unpredictable blend of film-noir danger, roller-coaster romance and sweet depths of feeling, with an aging, risk-taking hero who should know better and a fetching Italian siren who definitely does. The story touches chords of love and crime and the redemptive power of art, all done in sonnets that are a breeze to read and chocked with pleasures. “With the grace of Keats—whose poetic presence gives this volume its lively force—Altman whips lusty and literate sonnets into a sweeping, scary, and sensational masterpiece!” – William Lanouette, author of The Triumph of the Amateurs and Genius in the Shadows. The story opens and closes in the Roman cemetery where John Keats is buried. In between, it features Italian mobsters and American conmen, Hollywood moviemaking, an unforgettable femme fatale, a high-stakes love affair, concealed identities and unanticipated revelations, the eternal glories of Rome and—almost magically—the presiding spirit of the young English poet who wrote “Bright Star.” Blues for the Muse is a hilarious meditation on life, love, and movie magic, told in whip-smart rhymes that will make you smile with surprise and delight. Today's guest is https://www.linkedin.com/in/matt-mitcho-9a522b2/ (Matt Mitcho), CEO of https://www.gemellibiotech.com/ (Gemelli Biotech). In this episode, we will focus on the creativity behind the medical research innovation, the developed medical product, how Matt has creatively developed a model to build a company, and his own creative process of hiring and building out his team. Matt has a degree in Public Affairs and a master's in business. He has spent over 20 years in the pharmaceutical industry. For him to succeed, Matt attributes this to his upbringing. He was never afraid to fail because his parents assured him he was loved no matter what. This encouraged him to take more risks in life. He is also surrounded by great mentors, collaborators, and colleagues who work together to push the company forward and pivot even during Covid.  Key things from the conversation with Matt: Gemelli means "Twins," but for Gemelli Biotech, it means having a “Twin purpose” and for Gemelli Biotech their twin purpose is by doing well, you can do good. Matt and his company have developed mail-in testing for people suffering from Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) one of which is a blood test and the other a breath test. Collaboration is key in this industry.  A lot of people, on the outside looking in, don't really appreciate the combination of this science thinking, the real bench research, and the commercialization mindset that it takes, to invent something.  At Gemelli Biotech, Matt has ensured that Culture trumps Strategy. The dual purpose of the company leads to culture. This culture leads to us being able to recruit great people first that happen to be talented at what we do for a living, and then to build off of that. Unapologetically sharing your story leads to people caring about what you're doing, as long as you have good intentions. What's on the horizon for Gemelli Biotech?   According to Matt, Gemelli Biotech is at the expansion stage and is looking for a variety of partners to go along on the journey.   In conclusion, Matt says from his experience of successfully pivoting during covid, you must always trust yourself, your gut. If somebody is sitting on an idea, do the work, see whether or not there is a path forward, if there's a path forward, do it. You'll never regret trying if there's no path forward,  In addition, part of making connections is don't make a connection to see what you can get out of something, make a connection just to be there for someone else. People can see through selfishness. So make a connection to be a giver, not a receiver and things will work out. Gemeli Biotech Website: https://www.gemellibiotech.com/ (Gemeli Biotech)

    Diego Pulido, Interaction Designer

Today's guest is https://www.linkedin.com/in/diegopulido/ (Diego Pulido).  Diego is a senior interaction designer at Google, before that he was at Adobe, JP Morgan Chase & General Assembly as an Instructor, and what used to be Rackspace Technology. Today we will talk about the importance of how interactivity with the content leads to developing great content.   Diego has always considered himself an early adopter. Back when mobile phones were coming up, Diego did his degree in Psychology but the Computers in Psychology class cemented his love for technology and people at the same time. This led him to discover Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) which he did a Master's Degree in. His career took off from there.   Diego grew up in Bogota  Colombia, has lived in France, Italy, and South America. His experience of feeling like an outsider in these countries has enabled him to gain a level of understanding and empathy for users, making him a great interaction designer.  How does the creative process of an interaction designer look like? Diego speaks a number of languages and as a result, he is always translating from one language to the other depending on which part of the world he is in. It's the same when it comes to work.  Whenever he gets a request for a screen to do X or an App must do Y, he is able to translate those into things ordinary users can see, touch and interact with. Therefore making interaction designers -interpreters.  According to Diego, it's not just about the interactivity of an app or screen or process but a lot to do with the flow of that experience, keeping in mind that as human beings, we are interrupted a lot in the middle of what we are doing, so interactive designers make sure that whatever your interruption, the user is able to continue flawlessly with the process.  Collaboration is critical for an interactive designer because of the different teams that come together to create the final product. For it to be successful, communication is at the core.  Communication is not just within the company but also you need to communicate heavily with the users/customer. Although there is a lot of market research you can find on the internet, you must bring in the human aspects of this research. This means bringing your potential users onboard and getting their feedback. Human communication.   In conclusion, Diego thinks that the future for interaction design is in Mixed Reality- a combination of Augmented reality & Virtual reality, and designing human experiences.  Diego's Website: https://diego.soy/ (Diego.soy) LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/diegopulido/ (Diego Pulido) Twitter:http://@ixdiego (DiegoPulido) Instagram: http://@ixdiego (DiedoPulido)

After three decades at Idaho's leading news organization, KTVB News anchor and journalist Mark Johnson is retiring from television broadcasting.  In his storied career, he's been the face of Idaho news on KTVB's top-rated evening and late newscasts and a champion for countless community nonprofit organizations. He's covered a Super Bowl, a World Series, Fiesta Bowls, NCAA basketball tournaments, and five Olympic games, winning a national Edward R. Murrow award for his work involving the 2002 Salt Lake Olympics.  Johnson became something of a national sensation earlier this year when he updated his bio and the station released a tweet with no information other than his name, picture, and a link to the bio. The mysterious Tweet spawned online memes, one showing two pictures of Johnson claiming he created the Johnson & Johnson COVID vaccine. Stephen Colbert noted the sensation on his Late Night show in April, showing a doctored picture of Harry Truman holding up a copy of the Chicago Tribune with the headline “Mark Johnson.” A constant in the lives of generations of Idaho families, Mark Johnson has watched 30 years of Idaho history unfold from his spot in the KTVB studio. Viewers tuning in knew from the smile on his face or his calm, measured tone what kind of day Idaho was having. And on some days, he let Idaho know what he really thought by “Just Sayin'” what was on his mind.  “It has been a blessing and an incredible honor to serve our region while working at the most amazing station in America for the better part of my life. I never imagined I would go to so many places around the country and the world to cover events and stories that mattered to Idahoans. More importantly for me, being able to live and raise a family in such an amazing community while working with hundreds of colleagues who have been more like a family to me has been the greatest gift,” said Mark Johnson. “It's time for me to start enjoying the next chapter of my life with my wonderful wife, four amazing daughters (2 of them headed to college), and my first grandson. Though I will miss the daily rush of the newsroom and the front row seat to the news of the day, I look forward to taking a step back and enjoying all of the wonders Idaho has to offer.”  During his tenure as lead anchor at KTVB, the team has earned multiple awards for broadcast excellence, including regional Emmy® awards for the News at 10. He has also served a number of local non-profits, including The Boys and Girls Club, Big Brothers - Big Sisters, United Cerebral Palsy, United Way, Salvation Army, First Tee of Idaho, Make-A-Wish, the Boise Rescue Mission, Dress For Success, and others.  “It has been an honor and pleasure to work alongside Mark both personally and professionally over the decades. He puts his whole heart into his journalistic work and support of community service events. His immense contributions to the success of KTVB and his colleagues is immeasurable,” said Lisa Chavez, Director of Content. “Mark has provided our audience with steadfast, trustworthy, authentic news coverage with a personality all his own. Please join me in thanking Mark for his dedication and congratulating him on an incredible career and new chapter of life.”  Mark Johnson's final broadcast on KTVB will be on December 23, 2021.

We're going all the way over to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, some of you may know it as Saigon.  Today will be talking with https://www.facebook.com/bemeshkow (Boris Meshkov), a producer, director of music videos, film commercials, and currently working on a film series called Saigon 3000.  He's been around the world and he expresses a world of creativity in his own work, in his own travels. Boris was born in Russia and is now living in Saigon and in between, he's traveled to over 20 countries, where he's lived and worked.  Boris began his travels back in 2014 when he got a scholarship to travel as an exchange student to the US. While there, Boris got a 3 months job in Idaho Sun Valley, and in between work, he visited the city of Boise, which he found to be absolutely beautiful. When his 3 months work was done, he moved to Los Angeles Hollywood to pursue his film-making dream. A year later, when that didn't work Boris returned home to Russia.  According to Boris, when traveling, don't travel alone. So Boris and his girlfriend made the decision to hitchhike across Europe where they slept in tents during their visit to 20 countries, 6 months later, Boris still had this deep desire to travel, he decided to travel east to China, before getting to Vietnam.  After 3 years of living in China and teaching English as an expatriate, Boris made his way to Vietnam. Two years later, he shares with us lessons he has learned in pursuing his journey of film making and his progress in making his movie Saigon 3000. Vietnam's growth over the past decade and a half have made it an excellent country for the film industry due to an increased number of film studios and production companies. The lifestyle, reduced competition, and less bureaucracy make it easier to break into the film business compared to Hollywood.  Making connections as a foreigner wasn't easy, however, by sharing his ideas about the movie he wanted to make with everyone he met, before long people in the industry started reaching out to him. Boris tells us about his experience pitching his film and how he has to incorporate feedback into making this film.  For success in the film industry, Boris says it is about your network, who you know. The key in filmmaking is quality and to find good quality, you require teamwork and collaboration. By sharing the love on the set in pre-production and post-production. you can make something really great. In summary, Boris says when he started to travel, he was looking forward to discovering the world. But when he finished traveling, he realized that he discovered himself. So it's not the adventure of searching. It's the searching of and revealing yourself. "Patient" Lee Tomlinson, Compassion Heals

Play Episode Listen Later Nov 30, 2021 30:26

https://www.linkedin.com/in/leetomlinson/ (Lee Tomlinson) had a life many would have considered charmed. A successful world-trotting tennis pro, international businessman, marketing genius behind the American Film Institute's 10-year long 100 Greatest Movies CBS TV specials and multi-million-dollar fundraising campaign, major Hollywood film studio owner, loving husband, and near scratch golfer. Until the world crashed down, and he was subsequently diagnosed with Stage III+ throat cancer, and subjected to months of life-threatening, debilitating chemo and radiation, and extreme pain--so extreme he could not eat or even swallow. Towards the end of his grueling treatment, while hospitalized for a severe infection, a never-ending stream of insensitive, unkind acts totally lacking in compassion by the hospital staff, sent Lee into an abyss of emotional despair that made him choose suicide over life. Fortunately, another doctor, a dear friend, stopped him by deeply apologizing on behalf of a healthcare system that had failed to provide him-and so many others, with even a hint of compassion. And with one simple suggestion--inspired Lee to use his gifts as a speaker, customer service expert and leader to restore compassion to healthcare--not only for patients, but also for all the overworked, under-supported, burned-out healthcare professionals who've literally lost the ability to provide the compassion that got them into medicine in the first place. Lee's powerful crusade is documented in his new book https://www.amazon.com/Compassion-Heals-Healthcare-Lee-Tomlinson-ebook/dp/B091Y4W471 (Compassion Heals: From Self-Care to Healthcare). But there is a message here for more than healthcare professionals (HCPs). There's a message for all of us about the power of compassion to heal others' mental, emotional and physical pain - but to also love and heal ourselves - and in doing so, help heal the world at a critical time in our history. Lee's book presents the evidence that compassion heals by sighting numerous scientific studies, books and resources. But the most telling statistic he cites is that more than 50% of Americans believe that healthcare and healthcare professionals totally lack compassion. Data shows that people die because of compassionless care, not just from medical errors.  Compassionless healthcare has become more the norm over the past 25 years. Left unchecked, the future of healthcare is unthinkable. And that's why Lee is driven to make a difference. He has taken to the stage as "Patient Lee" dressed in nothing but a hospital gown, and presented his mixture of humor, compassion, urgency, encouragement and call-to-action at more than 200 venues, including keynote presentations to Johns Hopkins Medicine, Memorial Sloan Kettering, UCLA Medical Center, Eli Lilly & Co., Providence Health & Services, David Geffen School of Medicine, Bristol Myers Squibb, Siemens Medical Imaging, City of Hope Cancer Center, Adventist Health, and national conferences for the Oncology Nurse Society (ONS), Academy of Oncology Nurses and Patient Navigators (AONN), Association of Integrated Health and Medicine (AIHM) and Hematology/Oncology Pharmacy Association (HOPA). The problem, as Lee discovered when speaking with members of his audiences, is that HCPs are totally spent themselves, bereft of energy and emotional sustenance. More than 60 percent of them are suffering from burnout and, as such have zero compassion to give anyone because they're not given themselves enough to stay healthy and able to do so. So much of Compassion Heals is a recipe for self-care. Ways that healthcare workers can step off the treadmill and restore themselves, so they can freely give from a well of wellbeing and compassion within. Far from being punitive, Compassion Heals is in itself a healing balm. Filled with understanding and kindness for those who are falling short, along with those who are in their hands, this book

In today's episode, we travel to Namur Belgium to talk with http://linkedin.com/in/naz-tarcan-268095207 (Nazli Tarcan), an Illustrator, graphic designer & retoucher.  Nazlı Tarcan is a Turkish children's book and editorial illustrator who focuses on nostalgia, vibrant memories, and playful moments. She will tell us how she creates her work, what inspires her, how she organizes these ideas, and how she's gained the confidence and the connections to launch her work out into the world.   Born in Istanbul Turkey, Nazli began drawing as early as age 3. She started learning Art while at high school in In Istasyon Art Academy, after which she went to Yıldız Technical University to study Media Arts (Photography & Video) because she thought she wanted to be a National Geographic photographer. While doing that, she was shooting her products in front of a white screen which was no fun.  She wasn't feeling fulfilled and just before graduation, she left to join the circus. While with the circus, she did numerous art/graphic projects during her active years and illustrated a book entitled "https://www.hoopsparx.com/shop/product/loopy-luna/ (Loopy Luna and the Hula Hoop)". 9 years into traveling across the world with the circus, Nazli decided she wanted to learn pedagogy, and enrolled at Cirkus in Beweging -which translates to Moving circus- in Leuven, Belgium.  At this art school, she studied for 1 year interacting, playing, and teaching kids, before Covid hit. Since nothing was working, she moved to Namur, where she fully focused on illustrating books for children.  Nazli's illustrative style is very playful, vibrant, and colorful. This came about from years of trying to imitate other artists' styles and deciding what felt right to her and what didn't.  She let her own mind lead her to choose the colors that worked in her illustrations despite them not being conventional as if controlled by a secret power.  When it comes to her creative process of starting a commissioned project, Nazli will work on sketches then share them with other artists so as to get different opinions. She never shies away from working with others.  She will bring in the aspects of colors that she lets her emotions guide her on what to use. Afterward, she begins to play with different mediums and chooses the best one to illustrate the idea. What happens when Nazli is feeling stuck in her creativity? She will take a break from what she is currently working on, maybe listen to music, look at her favorite illustrations for inspiration or even juggle. Yes, JUGGLING! Such that when she sits down to try again, she will start at where she feels happiest, whether it's drawing human faces, or playing with colors   In conclusion, Nazli is not only an illustrator but also uses digital art to complete her creations. She currently uses her LinkedIn to connect with people and get access to illustrator agencies. In the next 20 years, she would like to be a well-known illustrator who inspires other people, while still having the same childish enthusiasm she lives her life with. In addition, she has expanded the Passion Test to different areas of life including: Passion Test for kids & teens, and the Passion Test for business.  She followed up with “https://www.amazon.com/Your-Hidden-Riches-Unleashing-Meaning-ebook/dp/B00JYWSXIG/ref=sr_1_8?crid=17J0NIMW6511G&dchild=1&keywords=janet+attwood&qid=1635156726&qsid=134-1642303-9605755&s=digital-text&sprefix=janet+attwood%2Cdigital-text%2C466&sr=1-8&sres=B000WJOWLM%2CB01410MMT6%2CB018HDTZL6%2CB0921LHTH7%2CB08MBBVNVV%2CB06XDHNWSH%2CB073ZR22BB%2CB00JYWSXIG%2CB00EQOZ36C%2CB07V7HZ3XY%2CB00WH77KMK%2CB00DYBSG4E%2CB00WL3D4KM%2CB004A159GA%2CB01M8QYCP7%2CB073H53H81 (Your Hidden Riches:) Unleashing your power of rituals to create a life of meaning and purpose.” Janet says the Passion Test enables individuals to realize that they're not just going through this world on automatic, but they can be able to tap into their genius and really use their creativity to bring out their gifts so that they can share them with the world. It helps you to become a manifestation magnet.  In this conversation, Janet gives us a toolkit on how to be creative, what to do when you're dealing with blockers of creativity and how to get rid of limiting beliefs about yourself so as to keep the passion alive and burning. Here is what works for her: The first is Transcendental meditation, where she uses rituals to enhance her life and refuel. This relies heavily on meditation.  The second is undoing her limiting belief- this is where she changes what she puts her mind to focus on while using positive words when talking to herself. The third is https://thework.com/ (TheWork), based on a process developed by Katie Byron. This is a process of self-inquiry that allows you to access the wisdom that lives within you by asking yourself the “Four Questions and a Turnaround method” Fourth, Janet uses the https://www.amazon.com/Maro-Up-Secret-Success-Arigato-ebook/dp/B018HDTZL6 (Maro-Up process )which she also wrote a book on. Here, Janet uses the 10 principles of Wahei Takeda, the Japanese Warren Buffet, who used the Maro-Up teachings of gratitude to make his fortune and live his life. Lastly, find a mentor.  A mentor who can untangle and undo the beliefs that you have about your inability to shine a light on your greatness and inspire transformation through love.  In summary, through Janet's years of Meditation practice, developing the Passion Tests which have been used by millions of people and written bestsellers, Janet believes that in order to live a high level of creativity,  we must share our lovely gifts with the world, no matter what it is, because that's the path to happiness.  Janets Website: https://www.thepassiontest.com/ (The Passion Test) Maro-Up:https://www.amazon.com/Maro-Up-Secret-Success-Arigato-ebook/dp/B018HDTZL6 ( Maro Up: The Secret to Success Begins with Arigato: Wisdom from the “Warren Buffet of Japan) Your hidden riches: https://www.amazon.com/Your-Hidden-Riches-Unleashing-Meaning-ebook/dp/B00JYWSXIG/ref=sr_1_8?crid=17J0NIMW6511G&dchild=1&keywords=janet+attwood&qid=1635156726&qsid=134-1642303-9605755&s=digital-text&sprefix=janet+attwood%2Cdigital-text%2C466&sr=1-8&sres=B000WJOWLM%2CB01410MMT6%2CB018HDTZL6%2CB0921LHTH7%2CB08MBBVNVV%2CB06XDHNWSH%2CB073ZR22BB%2CB00JYWSXIG%2CB00EQOZ36C%2CB07V7HZ3XY%2CB00WH77KMK%2CB00DYBSG4E%2CB00WL3D4KM%2CB004A159GA%2CB01M8QYCP7%2CB073H53H81 (Your Hidden Riches, unleashing the power of rituals to create a life of...

Meet Sherry Fernandez, author of Life Mastery: Personal Progression Toward an Infinite Potential It's a USA Today & Wall Street Journal Bestseller! Sherry offers a formula for Continual Expansion into Your Own Greatness: Contentment + Progress = Happiness Though deep in the throes of childhood family chaos with two unstable and unhappy parents -- divorcing, marrying others, then remarrying-amidst constant moving and dysfunctional childrearing -- Sherry Stirling Fernandez still knew that she was destined for great things. She believed in her potential for greatness! And that is something she wants you to instill in you!  Along with the clearly defined pathway to achieve it! Sherry's new USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestseller Life Mastery: Personal Progression Toward an Infinite Potential makes the case that if you are not progressing toward a better version of yourself, you can never achieve any true sense of joy...For happiness comes from recognizing and celebrating the fulfillment of your personal goals no matter how challenging -- and then setting out on the road to the next one. A lifetime of progress toward your infinite potential is what makes you exceptional, fills your heart and enables you to leave your imprint on the world -- your legacy!  Her incredibly powerful book provides you the keys to embark on this quest-the determination of your WHY -- without which you will likely fail quickly. The WHAT -- what needs your focus and attention to achieve Life Mastery in eight different aspects of your life. And the HOW -- getting an assessment of where you are; what goals and action steps to take; the systems to put in place and the habits you need to instill (or replace). This exceptional manual gives you everything you need to get you on the road to Life Mastery, and inspires you to take that first step! Along the way, Sherry tells her own inspiring story: how she left home at 17, a wild teen flirting with thievery, drugs and self-destruction, pregnant at 19, married by 22 and living a "hippie" lifestyle with all that implied in the 1970s. She and husband Ken lived on the edge of destitution until they began to explore personal development through books, tapes and live events with leaders in the movement. Slowly they inched themselves and their six-yes, count them! -- six children forward toward a better, more rewarding and financially strong life.  Much of the impetus for that came from Sherry's relentless pursuit of inner fortitude, wisdom and the goals she set for herself to overcome habits, fears and resistance that held back her progress toward infinite potential -- and sharing with Ken what she learned along the way. Ultimately, Ken started a highly successful construction supply company, and Sherry launched FitMania, boutique fitness and personal development business, that also guided clients on mastery over all aspects of their life that contributed to achieving or exceeding the goals they set for themselves and the dreams they had in their hearts. Her years with FitMania were rich and rewarding, but it was the transformation of her clients that so inspired Sherry to turn her entire attention to coaching individuals on achieving full Life Mastery by focusing on the physical, the spiritual, relationships, education, motivation, vocation, money, lifestyle and character. In fact, her book features an excellent assessment tool that let's readers determine what areas of their life need tuning up, and then how to take each of those vulnerable areas forward with the steps to keep moving ahead on the road to improvement...how to stay motivated and committed to the outcome, never losing sight of your WHY! So often Sherry observed people in personal transformation programs leave excited and vowing change, only to slip back into old habits without a practical accountable way to implement that change. A solution to that is what Life...

One of those books is https://www.amazon.com/Radical-Candor-Kim-Scott/dp/B01KTIEFEE (Radical Candor) by Kim Scott. The book focuses on the importance of giving quality, direct feedback to individuals, which has enabled him to give and receive feedback better. Andrew says, if you can help people see how they're using their own style of creativity, then they can see how much that's valued and they can lean into who they are and bring even more value to you and your team. Andrew has been writing his blog Striking Matches since Jube 2013, and he gives us pointers on how he has been able to get creative ideas over the past 9 years to keep writing. The way he has done this is by having a creative mindset-believing that there is a story and hidden beauty inside everything.  Looking at the world (experiences) as your oyster. A few ideas on how to bring creativity to work especially in remote settings or working from home can include: getting up and taking walks, working out in the morning, or even taking breaks during the day just to go play with your kids. As part of the brand management team, you can bring creativity in your solutions by being empathetic to your customers' needs, while at the same time using the data you collect to make heart-level decisions when telling stories. Christian Thought Leader, Author, and Songwriter Justin McRoberts Inspires Readers to Recreate Within God's Image in New Book – It Is What You Make of It “Adding new energy to old things can turn something good into phenomenal.”– Justin McRoberts “It is what it is”—a common phrase you hear and maybe even say yourself. But the truth is that there is not one square inch in the whole domain of our human existence that simply is what it is. Justin McRoberts invites you to embrace a new mindset: It Is What You Make of It. In his new book, It Is What You Make of It: Creating Something Great from What You've Been Given, McRoberts shares key moments from his twenty-plus years as an artist, church planter, pastor, singer-songwriter, author, neighbor, and father, passing on lessons and practices learned about making something good from what you've been given rather than simply accepting things as they are.  Thought-provoking but actionable, It Is What You Make of It declares that love doesn't just win, mercy doesn't just triumph, and light doesn't just cast out shadow. Rather, such renewal requires the work of human hands and hearts committed to a vision of a world made right (or at least a little better). When we partner with God in these endeavors, we love the world well and honor the Creator in whose image we are made. Complete with stimulating questions and hilariously relatable anecdotes and antics, each chapter will help readers uncover the areas in their lives and communities that are waiting for them to boldly proclaim, “Let's see what we can make of this.” Justin McRoberts lives in the Oakland–San Francisco Bay Area with his wife, Amy, and two children. He is the author of four books, including Prayer: 40 Days of Practice and May It Be So: 40 Days with the Lord's Prayer. Justin's sixteen albums and EPs have gained him a faithful audience among listeners nationwide since 1999. Justin leans on his over twenty years in the arts and ministry to mentor and coach artists and pastors in person as well as over video calls. Meet our guest, https://www.linkedin.com/in/mark-ryall-2b87b2b/ (Dr. Mark Ryall), author of the new speculative fiction book, Age-Decoded.  It took some struggle and two career changes before Mark Ryall discovered his “genuine self” as a teacher. He had always yearned for a career that brought him closer to people, and teaching became the natural place for him. He went on to teach economics and mathematics at Royal St. George's College (Toronto) and Hillfield Strathallan College (Hamilton) for a combined twenty-four years. He also loved coaching cross country running, a sport which he felt makes students stronger mentally and physically, and which promotes teamwork and mutual support. While teaching, he also began painting, specializing in acrylic art depicting historic old buildings and bridges in the Hamilton area, and more recently dabbling in sports portraits and landscapes. The speculative fiction Age-Decoded is Mark's first novel. He wrote the first draft about ten years ago while he was teaching, to educate himself and the world about the imminent tsunami of genetic engineering technology. The novel was turned down by traditional publishers, so Mark accepted that rejection and let the novel sit for several years. But with his recent retirement from teaching and the full-blown emergence of CRISPR-like technology on the scientific front, he decided to work hard to update and improve the novel. He finally self-published it two months ago. Mark feels Age-Decoded is important because genetic engineering will impact human physical and psychological traits − fundamentally affecting what it means to be human. His goal is to educate people about this scientific breakthrough. Many effects will be hugely positive, as scientists work to eradicate diseases such as Alzheimer's, Huntington's, cystic fibrosis, HIV, sickle cell anemia, and even cancer. But unintended or intended negative effects are also possible with this technology. The story peers 100-200 years into the future, allowing the reader to critically imagine and feel the potential impact of genetic engineering on human nature. The story focuses on two human changes; one physical (stopping and reversing aging) and one psychological (spoiler alert: you will need to read the novel). Mark also competes in triathlons and represented Canada in the 2019 World Age-Group Championships in Lausanne, Switzerland. That race was a disaster as he never completed the swim due to “technical difficulties”! But he has vowed to redeem himself, to qualify and compete once again in the Championships sometime soon in the post-Covid era. Mark currently serves as a volunteer cross country coach for Westdale Secondary School in Hamilton. His education includes BSc, MBA, and PhD (University of Toronto, Education). Meet https://www.linkedin.com/in/teedeevee/ (Teedeevee), a top International Afro-Beat musician, lyricist, composer, and performer. In today's episode, we chat with TeeDeeVee, an Afro-pop artist based in Lagos Nigeria.  He is a Top International Afro-Beat musician, lyricist, composer, performer, and award winner of the Best upcoming artist in Africa in 2017. Teedeevee describes Afropop as African Music combined with popular hip hop music but with a heavier beat. Teedeevee tells us his music, and especially his latest song KORE (the mantra of Hope) is about giving people hope during this time of Covid. The continent, like all others, has been hit hard by the virus and people's lives and livelihoods have been affected and income taken away, so a song to keep people's hope alive is what he created. In his album Adventure, Teedeevee's music transcends into messages of love and life.  Coming from Nigeria, TeeDeeVee struggled to balance both getting his law degree and his love for creating music that tells a story. In 2021, he successfully got admitted to the bar, and in the same year, released his album. Teedeevee is a dynamic and versatile artist, which has led him to have a majority of global influences and collaborations reflected in his work. His international break occurred in 2019 when he produced a song with a Lebanese producer. Soon afterward, he started getting recognition from International artists from different parts of the world including Sudan, Germany,  and France,  What's his songwriting and production process like, and what influences him? Teedeevee's creative process starts with an idea about making a beat, collaborating with an in-house producer, then gets a melody, then the lyrics, and finally, when all those have come together, he goes to the studio to complete the process. His influences come from his experiences in his own life, most of them a reflection of the obstacles and challenges he and other people from the African continent go through before becoming successful.  Spotify:https://open.spotify.com/artist/3kaEe2iLDTMTds8pRfBL7b#login ( KORE) Connect with him on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/teedeevee_/?hl=en (TeeDeeVee)  Teedeevee's success has come from being "stubborn" and resilient in believing that he will achieve everything he has set his mind to, in spite of the challenges he faces along the way. Through his music, he is able to encourage other people to follow their hearts' desires. He says, "I'm a full-time lyricist, composer, performer, and Afro-pop musician from Nigeria. I have been in the music industry for over 7 years and with vast experience, I have been able to work with several music moguls and visionaries in the music world. "Having over 90 records, I've carved a niche for my unique lyrical prowess and creative music style which would make any service I render special. "My music is well known for the uniqueness in my sound and lyrics. I have also got several recognitions and awards for my services over the years. "Versatility is one of the major pivots the Teedeevee brand stands for, having recorded different styles of music ranging from Trap, Hip-hop, R&B, Dancehall, Afrobeat, Afropop to Amapiano. "The African vibes and traditions are what I always hope to showcase in my works and preach the Afro music through the Nick and crannies of the world." He is also an Attorney at Law. Our guest is Meghana Giridhar of https://www.letscurate.com/ (Let's Curate.) Meghana was a consultant for nonprofit venture capital funds and that triggered her interest in many different things. She has actually launched her own platform which we'll know more about in this episode. She also loved traveling and it was there that she discovered many local artisans from the places she visited and found her passion in helpìng them. She discovered that there were art forms that she wouldn't have found on Google.  And that's how she decided to launch a platform to help these artisans keep their art form alive. She decided to empower independent artisans by providing them with resources but also selling their products in a regular store format.  Collecting the works Meghana tells us that she made a scheduled list of 10 people and went on various travels and meet 10 people from 10 different countries. She talked to them about her idea for the platform. She kept in touch with them and keep the idea going and growing along. She built a relationship with them and then told them when the platform was ready to go. So the site was launched and it started as a typical e-commerce shop with the big difference that the products weren't mass-produced. Each piece was limited edition, and sometimes the artisans even changed the form of art they were selling.  If any other artisans want to get involved in this platform, the best way is to just reach out to Meghana on her email or her social media channels. This is a lovely creative platform, where the only goal is to make it accessible to everyone. Just email Meghana, tell her your story and what kind of work you're involved in. It really is that simple as Meghana believes this is the best way to talk business, with authenticity.  For the art lovers So for people looking to actually acquire a piece of art from the site they can actually go to the platform and pick what they prefer. They've divided the works in terms of continents. But you can zoom into the country of your preference and find wonderfully inspiring pieces that are native to those places.  Her challenges Meghana talks about the challenges she was faced by venturing into the work of creation. One of the biggest challenges she had to overcome was explaining her idea. She wanted to convey that her idea wasn't only a brand, not just a shop. Her idea was to empower artists and give them the resources. And with that, teaching was also needed on how to use said resources. This wasn't just putting their products on a site but also putting history and showcasing the artist itself.  She was able to overcome this challenge and now has a successful platform that also features an artist spotlight where they sell limited edition pieces of said artist. The work her platform is doing is amazing and it will continue to grow as more artists join in. It is more than just another shop, it feels like a museum with pieces from all over the world that you can take home with you. And that's also where the magic lays.  If you want to reach out to Meghana or know more about her work: Instagram https://www.instagram.com/lets_curate/ (@lets_curate) Email them at letscurateinfo@gmail.com

Our guest is http://romanlcmartinez.com/ (Roman LC Martinez )Roman is a professional illustrator and a filmmaker in LA. He's founded the Film Reframed studio, and he's also working with a program called the Unhoused Art Initiative. And we're going to talk about how he's working with this program for people who are experiencing homelessness in LA. And we also want to talk about his work, Roman, we want to talk about your projects and also some of the things that you're working on to support these unhoused artists. So we've got a lot to cover in our short time together, but we're going to get through it all.  Prioritizing workRoman jokingly thinks having ADHD is a driver for him, when he's interested in something it's very easy for him to channel a lot of energy and passion towards that particular thing. And seeing that he has a diverse scope of projects and goals like contributing to the world, for him it helps if he hits a wall in one pursuit or maybe there's just a delay in something that he's working on, for Roman, it's very easy to shift over to the next one and to the next one. So each goal develops at its own pace. His passion project: Unhoused Arts Initiative Roman tells the story of how he started working with the union rescue mission, which is one of the largest missions on skid row in Los Angeles, serving the unhoused population. He tells of how he wanted to help artists who don't have access to supplies or storage for their artwork, create art that communicated some of their experience. And after going without a real expectation of how it was going to go. Roman had an idea to bring gallery-quality supplies into a situation where there may be artists who want to create something, and to give them the space and the time and the attention to do that, then maybe it will yield beautiful results.  Unhoused Arts initiativeRoman thinks that the interesting impact of the initiative frames this space that way because when you give people the opportunity to say what they want to say, you're really just providing an opportunity for them to be listened to. He believes that the unhoused population has so much to say that they're always sharing it with people and that the people that provide services for them sometimes start to tune that out, out of necessity for the volume that they go through. Roman tries to provide his full focused attention and just tries to hear what they had to say.  The mindset, from artist and educator to gallery managerRoman tells us about the challenges in working with unhoused artists. One of which is you don't have an address to locate them by or a consistent phone number. Roman says they're not in a state of mind to even remember that they made the art and often times many of them will get up after the session and just walk out into the streets. So some of the artists you will lose complete track of after you've worked with them. Roman explains about being a manager for these artists, how there's really no way to control that force of nature in that situation, that the best that he could do is report everybody's name who came in and record the story they shared with him while they were working on the art. So for Roman, it was about cataloging that information and, and keeping it somewhere safe cause everything just happened in a brief moment. Roman's next steps...Roman goes on to explain that for the Unhoused Arts the next step is to do a personal fundraiser to get a high-quality art book made of the art that was lost so that they can at least show people what there was. Roman explains that it won't be the same tangible experience of seeing it in a gallery. But the importance is that things have meaning. Roman believes that that is the way to help the artwork of the artists and the space they were in at that time live on and continue to make an impact and hopefully create more opportunities for future exhibitions. As far as Romans' personal projects go, he...

You know the song 867-5309/Jenny is a ubiquitous icon of the 80's -- ranking number four on VH1's Hits of the 80's. Now let's hear the story of the song's writer: Alex Call On today's episode, we'll hear about his songwriting process for Jenny – and his live acoustic performance of 867-5309, plus three other hits that made the Billboard Hot 100 Power of Love and Perfect World, (written for Huey Lewis and the News) And Mr. Moon by Elvis Costello Alex Call has been a hit recording artist and songwriter for over thirty years. His muse is legendary in the industry, and his songs have become musical icons of American pop culture. I met Alex at a small café several years ago, and had the chance to record our conversation. He shared highlights of his career as told in his book, “867-5309: The Song That Saved Me.” I didn't know then that I'd have a podcast on the creative process, so I feel fortunate to have captured this story. Alex Call was lead singer in the San Francisco cult-fave Country-rock band Clover, along with Huey Lewis and John McFee, now lead guitarist, Doobie Brothers Clover was the band on Elvis Costello's first hit album, “My Aim is True.” In the introduction to the book, Elvis Costello says, “You've written a vivid, honest feeling memoir Alex and his Clover colleagues were once almost-mythical figures on a record sleeve to me. This book fills in the human story between those photographs and the guys I got to know at the very start of my career and those I am still happy to call my friends. Read this and you'll realize, music has been a passport, an occasional alibi and something to catch you when you fall.” Alex has been a recording artist for Arista Records, Mercury Records, and Fantasy Records. Running Oprah Winfrey's film and long-form TV unit, the Benji franchise, producing at Mandalay Sports Entertainment, working on Jackass: The Movie, The Burton Movie, and countless TV & film projects. I stopped traveling and working in the trenches of film production when I knew I wanted a family -- and not just in name. "I continue to work in my dream business, but now from the desk of a CFO. Our guest today joins us from Hollywood, he is https://www.linkedin.com/in/justin-connor-a353089/ (Justin Connor). He is a filmmaker, actor, director, and producer. His latest film is currently out on Amazon Prime called The Golden Age: The Life and Times of Maya O'Malley.  The soundtrack, also written, performed, and produced by Connor, is available on all streaming platforms, with a double vinyl album.  THE GOLDEN AGE, a musical rockumentary shot over a decade in California and India, introduces us to the character of subversive pop star Maya O'Malley who, after a string of controversial remarks, gets dropped from his music label and sets out on a spiritual pilgrimage throughout India in an attempt to resolve his troubled past.  Winner of the Audience Award at the AWARENESS FILM FESTIVAL and winner of the Best Performance Award at the NEW HAMPSHIRE FILM FESTIVAL, Connor is also releasing A DAY IN THE LIES, a memoir novel that delves deeper into the life of the film's main protagonist, Maya O'Malley, which will be released on Amazon later this Summer.  Justin Connor currently lives in Los Angeles, and splits time between music and painting, and prepping the release of his third album, MATERIAL LIFE.  You can track the film's progress on social media as well as at http://www.justinconnor.com/ (www.justinconnor.com).  Justin says that he started as an actor but then veered towards music, released an album, and then for this second album as he was trying to figure out how to adjoin writing and directing a film that intertwined music without relying on lip-syncing. He wanted songs that helped tell the story in an organic way. He was also watching a lot of documentaries at that time and decided to play with the ideas of what's real and what's fake.  The character of Maya is born in these moments, he wanted to have a more substantive dialogue on the permutations of fame and pop culture and substantive songwriting. Something similar to Bob Dylan and Roger Waters did. He wanted to tell a story that was partially autobiographical about his own past. The whole document ends up being a comedy, but a comedy that also is supported on reality. It's a satire about material life, documentaries of artists and how artists are broken. He tried to approach the story with sincerity.  The form of the documentary proved to be challenging because you play a little trick by satirizing.  The Filmmaking Process  The process of making a film such as this along with music and the collaboration of a team Justin also said that it was a healing exercise for him. As a survivor of abuse, Justin says that there is an immense amount of shame that people end up struggling with. Those wounds don't necessarily go away per se but people eventually learn to bridge a different connection with them. Justin got to really challenge himself while making this film.  Justin also talks about how sometimes the stories that stayed with him after going through a dysfunctional household also make him feel that he had to heal from them like it was a mandatory thing. Which is something that he also wanted to reflect on in this documentary. Victims can heal and grow, just on their own terms and time.  Currently, Justin is also finishing a book that will accompany the film and will go even deeper into it. He hopes that this story can help others heal. So this whole process has helped Justin heal a lot and come to terms with his wounds. This is why in part the film took so long before he was really wrapped in this and now in the end phase he feels like he is finally starting his life over.  His multiple roles in filmmaking  Justin is the creator, director, and actor in this film. He also made music for it and a book.  Justin talks about how his role as a writer is different from his role as a filmmaker. In the film, scenes may need to be cut, which is something that Justin was careful...

Katie Leimkuehler, Storyteller and Executive Producer of FRESH TRACKS

Our guest: Katie Leimkuehler Katie Leimkuehler is an executive producer of the documentary https://vimeo.com/347182248 (FRESH TRACKS), Senior Manager, and Social Media Coach at Charles Schwab, and the Executive coach for Leimkuehler Media. She is a well-rounded creative person who is not only a social media expert but also a brand consultant.  Her creative engine Katie has always liked to learn new things and there is usually a point where you've learned as much as you can in a given field, so when she gets to that point she liked to hop on to another project of field and start learning something new. She gets the most joy from the act of creating something, not so much the final product but the actual part of starting from scratch and putting the pieces together to make an idea come to life.  Background on her documentary story "Fresh Tracks" is a story inspired by her grandfather who was essentially the first amputee skier in the US. He lost his leg during WWII in the Battle of the Bulge, and came back to Cleveland, Ohio, started a prosthetic business, and wanted to get back into sports.  And that's when he discovered skiing and design this device called the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Outrigger_ski (Outrigger), which is a ski pole with a mini ski attached to the end that helps for balance. He decided not to patent it so other people could have access to it. Fresh Tracks follows his story of designing the device and turning tragedy into triumph by giving adaptive athletes and paralympic athletes today the device they are using today. Katie originally wanted to write a screenplay but decided against it since she wanted to have more creative control. Choosing to tell her grandfather's story wasn't too hard either since it was something she grew up around and inspired her to think that if he could do it, so could she. Which is the mindset she looks to convey with her film, to spread positivity and empowerment even in these dark moments. Katie believes that dark moments in our life do not define us but rather how we pick up from those moments and what we do next.  Lessons learned along the way Katie didn't have a background in film so she had to talk to as many filmmakers and producers as she could first. Everyone had a different process, but it gave her an insight into how to start and find the path that worked best for her. She learned that there is not a formula to make a documentary and that it can sometimes be overwhelming when you're not sure of the path forward. She interviewed a lot of people, watched similar documentaries, and started to reach out to production companies that produced said films. That's how she ran into the TFA Group with whom she partnered for the documentary.  The reaction So far, the sports community has received her documentary in a great way. She has gotten only positive feedback and a lot of people are just learning the story which is really interesting for them. Most athletes who use the technology are very interested in the story behind the design and recognize it as a crucial part of their equipment.  The document is currently available on https://vimeo.com/ondemand/freshtracks (Vimeo on Demand) and https://www.amazon.com/Fresh-Tracks-Paul-Leimkuehler/dp/B08KGHF297 (Amazon Prime). You can find more information about it on freshtracksfilm.com  Her work as a Personal brand consultant Katie says that a lot of her work has always been in storytelling. Discovering what is it that her clients want to share and how they can do so. Helping them find what connects them with their target. She works on finding the unique moments, perspectives, or challenges that their clients may have come across to create their branding story.  What the future holds for her Katie sees another film in her future, she has some ideas she is working on and looking for the right team and people to work with.  To know more about Katie, check her...

Jodi Krangle, Voiceover, Podcaster, and Clubhouse Host Jodi is a voiceover actress, singer, and the host of a great podcast called Audio Branding -- as well as a host of a Clubhouse Room called The Power of Sound.  Creative process Jodi talks about her creative process and starts by telling Mark that it is different for everyone. It may also depend on what your coaching has been, so if you have a career in voiceover, you likely have had some kind of coaching. In each coaching, you will be given different ways to get into the right headspace for acting. You need to be able to perform the script you are given. It is a performance, an actual conversation. So even if someone gives her a really sales-heavy script, she is still able to talk about it as if it was a simple conversation, especially because she s answering real questions customers may have.  To get into her acting creative headspace, Jodi says she also needs to know which music they will be using and the emotional context of the piece. So basically, context plays a very important role in voice actors being able to perform adequately the lines that they were given.  Trends in Audio Branding Space Jodi tells Mark about how more and more people are paying attention to what it actually is. So, Audio Branding, which is similar to Sonic Branding. they call it a brand sound that represents the identity and values of a brand in a distinctive manner. The audio logo branded functional sounds, brand music, or the brand voice are characteristic elements of audio branding. So it's a bunch of different things that are all working together to make an audio identity for a company and to let people who hear it, understand who that company is viscerally deeply, emotionally on really quickly, actually. So for instance, appliances have different sounds and people use different music on their on-hold and they have a different voice for their commercials that, you know, approximates their brand values.  So most sound companies are looking to appeal to their target audience so they opt to have a signature voice. What this achieves is that customers are able to hear just seconds of a voice that they recognize and associate with the company. Her success Jodi credits her success to being able to track what goes in and comes out. Having an online invoicing system has been huge for her, apps like Zoho and QuickBooks are very much the easiest way to present clients with a professional invoice. So keeping track of everything is monumental to keep your business growing horrible. What makes a great client A good relationship with clear communication is the key here. They need to understand that they are paying for a professional service, they are hiring a professional and paying for such experience. Communicating expectations from the start is also big for the voiceover actress to be able to do a good job.  The road ahead Currently, Jodi is not sure which direction she may take in the future but she does know that she likes where she is right now, she doesn't want to limit herself and is open to whatever happens in the next years. She knows she'll figure it out when the time comes. If you want to reach her, contact her at www.voiceoversandvocals.com Listen to her podcast Audio Branding. She will give us insights into what it means to be creative, the nature of creativity, and her own take on creativity and experience.  Kiki on creativity: Kiki talks about how creativity is something natural to us humans and that we are meant to express our unique self. Therefore, being human means being creative. Kiki says companies shouldn't be wondering how to make people more creative but rather, think about what's stopping their employees from being creative.  So people are naturally creative, especially as children and then they lose that. What happens exactly? Kiki explains how education inadvertently kills creativity and then fear of judgement becomes our biggest creative detractor as adults.  Reflecting on decisions Kiki talks about how she has gotten more in touch with a better understanding of how we give meaning to our life. This allows her to be able to take a step back and in doing so, not only seeing where she is but also see where she is coming from and the possibilities that are in front of her. She believes that there's also a bit of the ability to also receive inspiration that allows her to do this. She talks about human beings are very spiritual beings, as in, they have a high level of consciousness and that they express in a creative way.  A lot of being creative falls on using your imagination, and this is where Kiki says she is most talented.  Experiences are data Kiki feels how experiences help you collect data and the more you analyze said data, you are more likely to be able to predict future behavior.  And nowadays, people who are working 9-to-5 jobs may also have creative dreams outside the company but what about those who have dreams within the companies? So what can either of those persons do in order to accomplish them? Kiki tells us that digging, cleaning, organizing, and making meaningful connections is a great start. Another important factor is letting go of the judgment towards your past, so people see what they've experienced, and when they find meaning to it, they are able to contemplate their new creative space without judgment. And at this moment is when they're able to focus on the now and on the possibilities they will be creating for their future.  For those interested, you can find Kiki on Instagram as @kikithechamaleon for any inquiries about her coaching practice and insights on creativity. Our guest: Salisha Thomas Salisha Thomas is an actress known for being in the cast of "Beautiful: The Carole King Musical" on Broadway. She was also Miss California World. She has a podcast called “Black Hair in the Big Leagues.”  Salisha talks about how she decided to start embracing the hair she had been taught to hate. To change the way she used to think her whole life. Something that a lot of black and brown people struggle to do to this day.  She just launched a new podcast called “The Salisha Show.”  About her experience on Broadway The Carole King musical debuted on Broadway as a terrific musical and had a successful tour. Salisha helped launch the musical's tour back in 2015, she got into the show the same week she had just moved to New York City which was amazing to her. She toured with the show for two years and she fell even more in love with the show and the team. She loved working in the musical.  Salisha then chose to leave the tour to give New York a chance because living there was what she always wanted.  Her creativity, focus, and process Salisha talks about how her process has changed over the years, she continues to learn and approaches her character with the mindset of how the character fits into who she is rather than how she can fit into the character.  It is a little different when you're portraying somebody who is a real-life breathing person who exists in the world, whether they're alive or dead or passed on. She tries to make it as authentic and truthful as she can by thinking who she is in their shoes.  Researching and watching as much of the real-life characters as she can is also that helps her portray them correctly. Get their mannerisms and more. This is something she did when she got to play Diana Ross on a show called Trevor (that is about to open in a new Broadway run this fall.) What she gets asked the most  Mark asked Salisha to think about the questions most students are likely to ask her. She talks about how often she gets asked about how to get on Broadway, whether it is better to be on the stage or as a crew and how she is able to do the same show eight times a week and keep it fresh. When talking about her journey to Broadway, Salisha says that everyone's journey is different. There are many ways to make a dream come true. You can begin from many angles. Part of her story includes a homeless man telling her that she needed to move to New York.  She didn't necessarily listen to everything the man said but she knows that it was part of her journey. And she recognizes that if she hadn't moved to New York, she wouldn't have started her journey. So a lot about starting your dream is listening to your instinct while also paying attention to the wisdom others share.  “There's more peace in making that decision when you know, that's the right thing for you to do. “ To find out more about Salisha, check her website salishathomas.com and find her podcast there. He has always been a music kid so to work with something he was already passionate about was a great opportunity he couldn't miss.  He started the process of writing Tupac Shakur and the studio book with his state with Afeni Shakur, and what he learned through that process was that there are templates that can be applied to almost any band across any genre. And if you as an author find a way to do so, do it. If you find a niche as an author jump on it quickly and write and publish as much as you can.  Try to get published by a “real” publisher and not just publish yourself. If you're starting you can check some forums where publishers may go through contests. If you really want to make it big you need to find a publisher that likes your idea and put money into it, market it, sell it, make a profit from it, and come back and ask you to do another one.  Back when he was starting, Jake says he pretty much took anything that was thrown at him, he did Jasmine St. Claire who was an adult star in the nineties. Don't do it just for the money In 2004 he did his second published book and it was about R. Kelly. He admits that he only did it because he needed the money. Writing about R. Kelly was not easy for Jake and he was even asked to change some of the things in the introduction, changes that were demanded in order to water down the version Jake had written. But Jake needed the book to sell so when the situation wasn't the same as for the previous book so when it came out he distanced himself from it.  About building a writing career Jake talks about how you must take chances when building your writing career, especially in the music industry. It is one of the toughest businesses to get into. But in the end, the opportunity that is actually life-changing will come and open many doors for you. In your career as an author you may not always do things the best way or maybe pick the wrong client but regardless the opportunity presented and previous experience will be key for you to make the right decisions and establish yourself as a prolific music author.  About The Authors TV Jake has been filming a new television show all year, you can find more about it on his Youtube channel, you can also find the show on Authors TV where he has taken his experience interviewing some of the most popular. In this show, Jake applies his creative process to interview his guests. Jake decided to pursue having his own show as another creative outlet aside from the exhausting business of writing biographies. While writing is something he enjoys, he doesn't want to spend his retirement writing and burning out.  He has already shot eight of the ten seasons of the show. "I think we have 34 Pulitzer prize winners because I aimed high as I did with the music business." The show is available on Amazon and Hulu and will be available in Britain. Mark closes the podcast talking about the creativity podcast isn't just about philosophy. These are the creative and motivational stories of people and their journey to success through their creativity. Anthony has traveled this journey himself, countless times, and after years of exploration into the highest realms, he has committed the truth of his experiences to paper with a pure hope to inspire us to expand, transform and ascend into the presence of the most profound revelation of love, right now, within this very lifetime. Rippling Waves calls for a renaissance of spiritual and planetary harmony.  In ascending from one dimension higher into the next, Anthony paints beautiful and astonishing word portraits of the magnificent sights he has seen, the breathtaking places he has been, and the glorious beings who are the benevolent guardians and guides at each stop along the way. He listens and learns what enables the souls at each dimensional stage to fully embody their divinity-and what we, as humanity, might do to emulate them as we find our way throughout our own existence, so we, too, can experience the bliss, ultimate expression and oneness of all creation. On this journey we discover who we really are and how we can express that truth through the power of love.  This remarkable book is the result of Anthony's years of pursuing deeper and deeper levels of consciousness awareness. In realizing that his true essence was not limited to his body, Anthony discovered the gift of Focused Love Projection which allowed his consciousness to expand beyond limitation towards its true Source.                         Born a fourth generation intuitive, with unexplained visions as a child, he hid much of his true spiritual nature away until his brother's plane went missing during a trip to Mexico. Hoping to find him, and desperate for answers, Anthony followed after, frantically searching without success through the jungles of Mexico. In a moment of despair, feeling helpless, his brother appeared to him, in full vision, assuring him he was well, and that he was transcending to his next soul expression, fully embraced in Peace and Love.  This healing and awakening experience set Anthony on a path of deep exploration and inspired a joyous return to the expansion of his intuitive gifts. As an already accomplished professional musician, he began to employ unique instruments of his own creation in sound healing performances where he ultimately responded to the many requests of those seeking his gifts of wisdom and guidance. Today, he is a renowned clairvoyant, master astrologer, psychic visionary, sound healer and empath, highly-respected for his compassion and integrity.  Anthony's natural born gifts presented the unique capacity to tune into the realms of universal knowledge and tap into the hidden mysteries of the cosmos. He has gained the ability to communicate directly from the vastness of consciousness through the...

Christian Banach, Agency Growth Strategies About the podcast: Unlocking Your World of Creativity Unlocking Your World of Creativity is a podcast hosted by best-selling author and global brand innovator, Mark Stinson. This is a podcast where diverse guests who share in common being creative professionals from all over the world. They talk about they get inspired, how they organize their ideas and gain confidence to make the connections needed to launch their amazing work.  Our guest: Christian Banach Christian Banach is an agency owner, sales team leader, and new business director. He has a passion for helping agency leaders to be empowered and approach their future with greater confidence.  Christian's consulting clients range from Reebok to TD Bank among other multinational level businesses. He believes that regardless of the size of the agency it is possible to do something that unique and different than others. And that's how he gets clients, by offering unique solutions to the specific problems they may have. It is difficult to be good at everything, but when you specialize in a certain area, you will get bigger companies to seek you out.  His approach to helping them figure out their “one big thing” When getting clients through word of mouth you may not have a good idea of what type of business they are or what type of client they may be. This creates a situation were they've done a lot of different things. So when they get their foot in the door with a client they may have a situation difficult to approach. What an agency does it that it comes up with creative solutions by examining the clients and the problems they come with. They look for commonalities, buckets of work they've done, certain types of consumers and targets, and some common themes.  They take those themes and then they find companies that have the same type of theme and engage them in a development stage where they are finally able to reach solutions and find their unique “big thing” to stand out in the market.  How he got there Christian came to the industry almost by accident. He started by working on concert promotions to pay his way through college. He got to work with Grammy Award-winning artists such as Lady Gaga, Pitbull and T-Pain. Along the way, he was approached by an experimental marketing agency that was looking for some help with more street-type activation strategies. For Christian, it was a very natural transition from doing concert promotions and working with sponsors into that experiential marketing.  Lessons learned along the way Along the way, when the 2008 recession hit, Christian learned the hard way that promoting his agency through just word of mouth was not enough. He ended up having to hire consultants who provided him with an immense amount of valuable insight. While this help came a little late and Christian had to close his business, he was inspired to go into business and business development a few years later.  This made him learn that even when times are good, you still need to focus on having a predictable pipeline, price sales process, and word of mouth referral as a bonus only.  What the future holds for Christian Christian really enjoys art and has found himself increasingly trying to explore other creative avenues for himself. He is considering turning the Monday motivation newsletter into a book and be able to not only give some valuable insight to others but especially to his daughter.  Find more about Christian by going to his website http://www.christianbanach.com (www.christianbanach.com) and learn more about his agency and what they can do for you. Don't forget to tune in for our next guests who will be bringing in even more valuable insight for those looking to make a big name in the business that is "creativity."

She is the first person you can talk to get introduced into the MBicycle world.  Then, we have https://www.linkedin.com/in/alexandr-mashkov/ (Alex) who is the manager of the company and his role focuses on software development. He has worked with Vada for over 11 years and as far as their agencies are concerned, they work creating custom software development in such domains as sports, health, wellness, health tech, and fintech are some of the most common cases they concentrate on. They usually work with startup companies because that gives them an opportunity to feel the fresh air of new ideas that are innovative for any market.  Alex has spent 25 years living in various parts of Eastern Europe and he started a number of companies and one of those businesses he has was located in Belarus. There he got to know a number of people in the engineering and software development technology fields. While his markets may seem quite separate from each other, from a technical perspective they're similar. So their most successful case studies are connected to a sports application because they've done numerous apps for basketball for players, coaches and fans.  Up next, https://www.linkedin.com/in/michaeltavis/ (Mike) works more in the business and finance part of the company. He spoke about how from a competitive standpoint a dynamic market such as Belarus found more expertise in engineering manufacturing. There were a lot of top-rate scientific institutes of technology and technical universities. So the cost structure of a company such as Mbicycle can provide superior services at a much lower cost. That gives them an amazing competitive advantage.  About potential new customers Vlada talks about what are some of the differences in what potential new clients are looking for. She says it depends mostly as some people just want the company as a support to their current team. Others just had a general idea and they were looking for a team to help them create something new. To make their ideas into something real and measurable by taking their ideas and concepts and bringing them to life.  On team organization  After working for 11 years, they have developed a very good delivery model. They cover the full cycle of delivery. They will propose to start with a discovery stage so the potential client can work with their business analyst for up to a month. They communicate a lot about the idea and it should be organized and it can be divided into other stages. After that stage is done, the analyst prepares a solid document that can be used for making estimates and for further communications with their tech leads. After that, the tech team starts the actual development process. They of course have project managers, QA guys, and everything needed so they bring the idea to life with the help of the team.  With MBicycle, helping dreams align with reality is all about execution and the help of their experienced...
