This week on The Trophy Room, we break down the reported reasons Sony walked away from Kojima Productions' ambitious action-espionage game before Xbox stepped in to publish the project. New reports claim PlayStation had concerns surrounding PHYSINT's budget, potential profitability, missed deadlines, and its planned exclusivity. With Death Stranding and Death Stranding 2 reportedly falling short of PlayStation's revenue expectations, Sony was allegedly reluctant to invest hundreds of millions into another Kojima Productions project. So, did PlayStation make the right business decision, or could walking away from Kojima come back to haunt them? We also dive into Marvel's Wolverine now that Insomniac's massive PS5 exclusive is finally here. We share our impressions of Wolverine, discuss the reaction surrounding its launch, and break down some of the biggest conversations happening around the game. Plus, the results are apparently in on the PlayStation Blackout. Circana analyst Mat Piscatella says the week-long PlayStation boycott over Sony's decision to move away from physical media resulted in "no significant change" to player counts or overall platform engagement. What does that mean for the physical games movement, and where does the conversation go from here? This week on The Trophy Room: Why PlayStation cancelled Kojima Productions' PHYSINT Xbox taking over publishing duties for PHYSINT PlayStation's reported concerns over PHYSINT's budget and profitability Marvel's Wolverine PS5 impressions The drama and conversation surrounding Wolverine's launch The results of the PlayStation Blackout boycott What comes next for PlayStation's physical media controversy The Trophy Room – A PlayStation Podcast covers the biggest PlayStation and gaming news every week, including PS5, PlayStation Studios, reviews, previews, developer interviews, and everything happening across the gaming industry.

Hello one and all and welcome back to another episode of Trophy Talk! This month Josh and Colin gather around the digital fireplace to discuss a whole slew of topics related to PS5 and trophies of course. We begin the show with the recent news surrounding GTA 6, namely the leak and how we felt about it before diving into custom set of trophies we created for the game! Will any of our misc. trophies be close to what's in the actual GTA 6 trophy list? Probably not, but it's a fun way to creatively think about what the mammoth game from Rockstar may have in store for us. From there we move on to Platinum shout outs of course, pulled straight from our Trophy Room channel in our Discord community. As always we continue to be impressed by the breadth and difficulty of games being completed by our community. Ya'll are awesome. Lastly, we close the show with what we've been playing! Both Josh and Colin have spent a great deal of time the last few weeks on Big Walk, a game which never fails to surprise and delight us with its take on the co-op gaming experience. Colin also touches on Quake: Dawn of the Machine, the new DLC for a 30 year old game, in celebration of its 30th anniversary. Josh on the other hand maintains his push, and struggle to complete AC: Shadows, and gets a couple other easier completions out of the way with Kao: The Kangaroo, and Goat Simulator 3. Thank you all so much for listening, and enjoy the episode!

We start with reports claiming Grand Theft Auto 6 may not launch with a physical edition, as Take-Two and Rockstar allegedly consider a digital-only release to prevent leaks. We discuss what this could mean for collectors, retail, and GTA 6's already sky-high expectations. Next, we dig into new analyst predictions suggesting the PlayStation 6 may be delayed longer than expected, potentially extending the PS5 generation well into the next decade. We debate whether the PS5 still has untapped potential and what features the PS6 would actually need to feel like a true generational leap. We also cover reports that a PlayStation State of Play is locked in for February, what Sony might show, and whether titles like Marvel's Wolverine, Saros, and Marathon could appear. On the industry side, we break down Ubisoft worker unions calling for a global strike, following layoffs, studio closures, and a push to end remote work. We discuss what this says about the current state of the games industry. Plus, we react to the Microsoft Developer Direct, Xbox's declining revenue numbers, discourse surrounding new releases, Nintendo Switch censorship concerns, and a packed slate of Flash News, including MLB The Show 26, PS Plus February games, and more. We wrap up with Whatcha Been Playin'?, community questions, and plenty of classic Trophy Room discourse.

We also take time to honor a devastating loss to the video game industry. Vince Zampella — Battlefield franchise lead, Call of Duty co-creator, Respawn Entertainment founder, and one of the most influential figures in modern gaming — has tragically passed away. We reflect on his legendary career, from Medal of Honor and Call of Duty to Titanfall, Apex Legends, Star Wars Jedi, and the record-breaking launch of Battlefield 6, and discuss the massive legacy he leaves behind. On the news front, Naughty Dog finds itself back in the spotlight for the wrong reasons. A new report reveals mandatory overtime (crunch) imposed on staff to complete a demo for Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, reigniting conversations around workplace culture, missed deadlines, and sustainability inside PlayStation Studios. We discuss what this means for Naughty Dog, Sony, and the broader industry as crunch continues to clash with modern development values. Plus, we dive into: • Our full PlayStation Wrapped 2025 breakdown • Naughty Dog landing firmly on the “not nice” list this year • A look back at the highs, lows, and turning points of 2025 • Community reactions, reflections, and end-of-year takes This is a packed, emotional, and thoughtful send-off to 2025 — celebrating what went right, questioning what went wrong, and remembering one of gaming's true legends.

In a sobering yet hope-filled message titled “Satan's Trophy Room,” Bro. Georgeon Pedigo warns that it's not how you start the race of faith that matters most—it's how you finish. Preaching from 1 Samuel 31, he recounts the tragic downfall of King Saul, a man anointed, gifted, and full of promise, yet ultimately taken out by compromise, fear, and disobedience. Like a hunter's trophy mounted on the wall, Saul's life became a display of defeat in the enemy's collection. With vivid imagery and powerful biblical examples, Bro. Pedigo exposes how the enemy works subtly—through discouragement, offense, temptation, and distraction—to derail believers who once burned brightly for God. Yet this message is not one of despair—it's a call to perseverance. Using the transformation of Saul of Tarsus into the Apostle Paul as a shining example, he declares that no matter your failures or how you began, God's grace can rewrite your ending. Whether you feel distant from God, caught in the motions of church life, or wounded by the past, “Satan's Trophy Room” will challenge you to press on, continue steadfastly, and finish the race with faith intact.
