Who are the Witnesses of the WMC? As our Summer School series on Cults continues, I am once again joined by author Christian Ashley of the Let Nothing Move You podcast to discuss a time when he was approached by followers of Mother God. Christian and I discuss the complicated history of the Church of God in South Korea before it was relaunced into the WMC. We breakdown some of their teachings, including the belief that Jesus has already returned and gone back again, there is a Trinity and a Mother God, and the need to partake in Passover to be saved. We also seek to answer that very important question of "Will I ACTUALLY run into someone who is a part of this cult?" and the answer may surprise you, especially if you live in the Midwest. Welcome to G220 Radio hosted by Ricky Gantz and Mike Miller. In this episode, we examine the beliefs of the World Mission Society Church of God. Are you familiar with this organization and their beliefs? While this is not a new group it is fairly new to us. While evangelizing at a local college, Ricky came across an individual with whom he interacted and who held to some strange beliefs. Beliefs contrary to the scriptures. So we began to look into these beliefs and found some even more false teachings and decided this is a topic we wanted to take on to help warn others to avoid.

The Sermon from the Fifth Sunday of Epiphany and World Mission Sunday, delivered by guest Celebrant, the Rev. Scott Gorbold, at St. Anselm Anglican Church on February 4, 2024.
Genesis 12:1–3 Psalm 86:8–13 Revelation 7:9–17 Matthew 28:16–20 Almighty God, through the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, you revealed the way of eternal life to every race and nation: Pour out this gift anew, that by the preaching of the Gospel your salvation may reach to the ends of the earth; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
Fr. Andrew invites us to consider the call upon our lives to both be rescued and part of the rescue plan for all of humanity on world mission Sunday as we explore it through the call of Abram in Genesis 12.

February 4, 2024 Genesis 12:1-3 (ESV) 1 Now the Lord said to Abram, “Go from your country and your kindred and your father's house to the land that I will show you. 2 And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. 3 I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” Revelation 7:9-17 (ESV) 9 After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, 10 and crying out with a loud voice, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!” 11 And all the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures, and they fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, 12 saying, “Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might be to our God forever and ever! Amen.” 13 Then one of the elders addressed me, saying, “Who are these, clothed in white robes, and from where have they come?” 14 I said to him, “Sir, you know.” And he said to me, “These are the ones coming out of the great tribulation. They have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. 15 “Therefore they are before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple; and he who sits on the throne will shelter them with his presence.16 They shall hunger no more, neither thirst anymore; the sun shall not strike them, nor any scorching heat.17 For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd, and he will guide them to springs of living water, and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”
Though we're not all called to uproot our lives and move to a foreign country to be missionaries, we are all called as missionaries of the Gospel. Fr. Father Anthony Chantry joins us for this Catholic News podcast to discuss World Mission Sunday. Celebrated on the penultimate Sunday of October, it's a chance to support missionaries and the churches, hospitals and schools where they do the Lord's work, in countries where the Church is new, young or poor. Fr Chantry is the National Director of Missio, the Pope's official charity for world mission. On Sunday, 22 October, we join together in prayer to give thanks to God for missionaries everywhere who are spreading hope and the Good News of Jesus Christ. Fr Chantry tell us what mission is, but also what it isn't: "Mission is not about imposing, forcing or coercing. It's about listening, being present with people, accompanying them and acting on what comes from that - the wonderful wisdom from these encounters. Jesus did exactly the same. We're just following the master. He will show us the way." Listen to Fr Chantry speak about World Mission Sunday, Pope Francis' theme for this year's celebration, Missio's focus on the story of Sister Mary in Africa's biggest slum - Kibera in Kenya, and more. Mary Magdalene and Mary were running from the empty tomb to go announce the good news to the disciples that Jesus was alive. You can imagine their stunned amazement when Jesus appeared to them on the road. They immediately fell down in worship at His feet. Jesus greeted them and gave the ladies a message for His disciples. He wanted them meet Him in Galilee so that they could see Him in person. This meeting would not only change them, but change the world! On this Pentecost Sunday, The Rev. Canon C. K. Robertson, PhD, tells us that the miracle of Pentecost was not just that the many heard the Gospel in their own language but that they heard a word of hope and about the love of God that gave them a sense of belonging – a sense that they mattered. The miracle of Pentecost is the love of God, not just spoken but lived out. As beloved children of God, we are called to bear and share the love of God with everyone we meet. We are ambassadors for God and Jesus. It is our responsibility to show everyone we meet that they are the most important person on the planet. When we do this, Pentecost comes anew and the world is changed once more, one life at a time. (The Rev. Canon C. K. Robertson, PhD serves as Canon to the Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church, Michael B. Curry. He is responsible for Ministry Beyond the Episcopal Church. He represents the Presiding Bishop at many International and Anglican gatherings. He also works with the Executive Council of the Episcopal Church and the General Convention on World Mission.) Anthony is a former deacon and a 10.5 year member of the World Mission Society Church of God, a cult group that believes Jesus' second coming already happened (and this Jesus died in 1985) and worships an elderly lady in Korea as “God the Mother.” Through the pandemic, personal research, and family support, Anthony was able to escape the mind control this group had over him as well as the arranged marriage they coerced him into.
