We have reached the end of the Marvel Netflix shows, and to send us off, the Netflix corner of the MCU gives us the third and final season of Jessica Jones. Produced by Marvel Television in association with ABC Studios and Tall Girls Productions, Jessica Jones is based on the character of the same name created by writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Michael Gaydos. Comiczone's Gareth and Adam cover all thirteen episodes of season three and reflect back on the previous Marvel Netflix shows. Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) teams up with Trish Walker (Rachael Taylor) to take down a highly intelligent psychopath until a devastating loss reveals conflicting ideals that pits them against each other.
Following the tragic end of her brief superhero career, Jessica Jones tries to rebuild her life as a private investigator, dealing with cases involving people with remarkable abilities in New York City. Marvel's Netflix series Jessica Jones has returned for it's second season and we are giving our full breakdown and review. This season focuses on the internal turmoil that can arise when revisiting past trauma in search of closure. Where many Marvel series focus strongly on establishing the contrast between heroes and villains, Jessica Jones Season 2 challenges those ideas and puts forward a more personal story. This serves the series will in that it differentiates itself from the other shows in the Marvel/Netflix universe. Season 2 has more than it's fair share of subplots as well. The secondary characters all have their own stories that branch off of the main narrative. Some of those subplots are more successful than others, but the core of the story remains that arc of Jessica Jones herself. Note: We like our language NSFW salty, and there be spoilers here…Face Front, True Believer! Our attempts to record an episode on the Jessica Jones TV show from Netflix have been plagued by delays and technical difficulties, including only recording five minutes of an hour-long first try that mostly centered on co-hosts Illegal Machine and Diabolu Frank! We finally got a full length show “on tape,” with a fired-up Mister Fixit besides, so sorry that the audio quality is like unto tin cans connected by string! First we give an overview of the history of Marvel Comics’ adults-only MAX imprint, with special mentions for Punisher, Nick Fury, and… Rawhide Kid? Then we look at Alias, the three year long solo series where the super-heroine Jewel, A.K.A. Jessica Jones, made her debut (and which provided the source material for the television adaptation!) Finally, we get into the TV show itself, which trades Carol Danvers for Trish Walker as the star’s bestie and emphasizes Luke Cage as her love interest (in his own live action debut!)Excelsior! As you can tell, we love a fierce conversation, so why don’t you socialize with us, either by leaving a comment on this page or…Friend us on FacebookRoll through our tumblrEmail us at rolledspinepodcasts@gmail.comTweet us as a group @rolledspine, or individually as Diabolu Frank & Illegal Machine.
