Tipp: Im Original schauen.

We are honored to welcome DEA Agent Steve Murphy to the Libertas International Podcast! Steve Murphy is a retired DEA agent renowned for his pivotal role in the pursuit and eventual capture of the infamous Colombian drug lord, Pablo Escobar. Born in the United States, Murphy joined the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) in the 1980s and was stationed in Colombia during the height of Escobar's reign of terror. Alongside his partner, Javier Peña, Murphy worked tirelessly to dismantle Escobar's Medellín Cartel, which was responsible for a significant portion of the cocaine trafficked into the United States during that era.Murphy's efforts, often at great personal risk, contributed significantly to the DEA's operations in Colombia and the eventual downfall of Escobar in 1993. His experiences during this tumultuous period were later dramatized in the popular Netflix series "Narcos," where actor Boyd Holbrook portrayed him.Following his retirement from the DEA, Murphy has become a public speaker, sharing his experiences and insights on law enforcement, international drug trafficking, and the challenges of combating organized crime. He also co-authored a book titled "Manhunters: How We Took Down Pablo Escobar," which provides a detailed account of his and Peña's roles in the high-stakes operation against the Medellín Cartel.Steve joins the podcast to talk about the search for Pablo Escobar but also to talk about working with law enforcement in a different country and how to avoid the appearance of the "ugly" American. He also talks about how to stay brave in the fight vs. evil in the modern day as he did when he was facing one of the most evil men that has ever walked the earth. This period crime drama has often been described as "Goodfellas with Motorcyle's" as it chronicles the saga of a Midwestern motorcycle club or "gang" in 1967 adapted from a non-fiction photo-book of the same name.  The story focuses on Kathy (Jodie Comer) who is new to this world and has fallen in love with one of the drivers, Benny (Austin Butler) the charismatic, generally quiet biker whom she falls in love with, and Johnny (Tom Hardy) the intimidating leader of this recently formed gang - each of them are loosely based on real people as are several others in this stacked cast including Michael Shannon, Boyd Holbrook, and Norman Reedus.   As directed by acclaimed filmmaker Jeff Nichols (Mud, Take Shelter, Midnight Special), we follow their adventures on the road and off....Host: Geoff GershonEdited By Ella GershonProducer: Marlene Gershon Send us a Text Message.https://livingforthecinema.com/Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/Living-for-the-Cinema-Podcast-101167838847578Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/livingforthecinema/Letterboxd:https://letterboxd.com/Living4Cinema/

Motorcycle clubs get some attention this week on Movies Merica with the new Jeff Nichols movie “The Bikeriders.” You may know Jeff Nichols from his previous movies “Mud” and “Midnight Special.” This movie stars Tom Hardy as Johnny, the founder of the Vandals bike riding club and Austin Butler as Benny, another member. Butler is like a younger “rebel without a cause” member to Hardy's older, settled but still rough founder. Enter Jodie Comer as Austin Butler's wife Kathy, who is scared of the club, yet intrigued and awed by it. As you might expect, this bike riding club doesn't just stay a bunch of guys and their old ladies riding around, having a great time. These are roughnecks who just don't care, so that gets them in trouble with people who hate bike riders, the law and other clubs. The heat gets turned up on the club and life gets bloody real fast and this causes tension between Johnny, Kathy and Benny. The club also has to deal with increasing danger as the club expands to other cities and they find they now have some scarier members that don't take orders from anybody, not even Johnny. The fuse has been lit, when will it explode? “The Bikeriders” also stars Michael Shannon, Damon Herriman, Mike Faist, Boyd Holbrook, Norman Reedus, Beau Knapp, Emory Cohen, Karl Glusman, Toby Wallace, Happy Anderson, Paul Sparks and Will Oldham. Support the Show.Feel free to reach out to me via:@MoviesMerica on Twitter @moviesmerica on InstagramMovies Merica on Facebook

It's no Twilight, but we still need to talk about The Host (2013). No, not the Bong Joon Ho horror — we mean the Stephenie Meyer movie adaptation. That's right, it's time for another Fifth Tuesday, a.k.a. one of our non-spooky bonus episodes, and given that this film features a bonafide intergalactic invasion, we knew it would be the perfect way to close out Alien Month. After four weeks of figuring out all the various ways humanity might put a stop to attacks from outer space, it was time to ask the really important questions: What happens when the aliens win? Also, what if they're sort of sexy? With Saoirse Ronan doing her best bad Southern accent and Diane Kruger serving cunt in a ribbed white tank top, our latest installment of Spooky Tuesday does the work to tackle all the important topics: communism, supernatural love squares, and the true test of any romance.   Resources:https://stepheniemeyer.com/the-books/the-host/the-host-playlist/ https://www.theguardian.com/books/2020/aug/07/stephenie-meyer-id-like-to-be-remembered-for-writing-the-host-but-itll-be-twilight
