Host Adam Bittner welcomes Post-Gazette sports columnist Jason Mackey to discuss the Steelers' interest in running backs ahead of the NFL draft. What should we make of the fact that nine of the team's 30 pre-draft visitors play the position? How much belief should OC Arthur Smith have in internal options like Jaylen Warren and Kenneth Gainwell? Will GM Omar Khan and coach Mike Tomlin look to make a big splash and take a projected Day 1 option like Omarion Hampton to replace Najee Harris as a 1,000-yard caliber back? Or will they look to Days 2 and 3 with an eye toward building depth in the form of names like DJ Giddens, Bhayshul Tuten, Dylan Sampson, Ollie Gordon II, Jaydon Blue, Kaleb Johnson, RJ Harvey and TreVeyon Henderson?

A weekly phone conversation between fantasy veterans Bob Harris and Matt Waldman is a quick and dirty run-down of NFL players, units, or teams. https://youtu.be/AVuIecucooA Topics 1. Cam Ward is the safest rookie to withstand the onslaught of starting year one in the NFL. 2. Kyle Monangai could be the next Ray Davis-Jaylen Warren of this class. 3. Jaydon Blue has one of the highest ceilings in this class. 4. Jacory Croskey-Merritt deserves his sleeper tag. 5. Tez Johnson is too small to play WR in the NFL. 6. Daniel Jackson is a better prospect in the slot than Xavier Restrepo 7. The Giants don't need to draft a quarterback this year. 8. Bru McCoy deserves more attention 9. If Andrew Luck is the Frankenstein of Josh Allen and Tim Tebow. Will Howard is the "Young Frankenstein" version of these two. 10. Hunter Dekkers would have earned a draftable grade in the RSP if included. 11. Tyler Shough's pocket presence is a concern that could derail a future shot to start. 12. Mason Taylor could be a Mark Andrews-like fit for a team. 13. Brock Bowers is a good comparison for Tyler Warren 14. Luther Burden is a better prospect than Marvin Harrison, Jr. 15. Brashard Smith is closer to Aaron Jones than most think 16. Marcus Yarns is the most intriguing rookie RB in the class. 17. Lan Larison is a pen name for Cecil Lammey trying to become an NFL RB. Now entering its 20th season, learn more about Matt Waldman's RSP — the most in-depth analysis of offensive skill position players available (QB, RB, WR, and TE). Or if you already know the deal, go ahead and pre-order (you know you want to) for $21.95. Matt's new RSP Dynasty Rankings and Two-Year Projections Package is available for $24.95 If you're a fantasy GM interested in purchasing past publications for $9.95 each, the 2012-2024 RSPs also have a Post-Draft Add-on that's included at no additional charge. It's a deep running back class, though the likes of Ashton Jeanty and Omarion Hampton won't be realistic options for the team led by Saquon Barkley. In the middle rounds, though, could Will Shipley see competition from players like DJ Giddens, Cam Skattebo, RJ Harvey, Bhayshul Tuten, Trevor Ettienne or Devin Neal? Zach Berman and Bo Wulf break it down.
The Washington Commanders have a clear need at RB this offseason, and so far we have our same RB room from last season in Brian Robinson, Austin Ekeler, Chris Rodriguez and Jeremy McNichols. So, we look towards the draft to look at some of the prospects not named Ashton Jeanty. Who is your favorite RB in the 2025 NFL Draft? Names from Amit and KDot include Dylan Sampson, TreVeyon Henderson, Bhayshul Tuten, Tahj Brooks, Cam Skattebo, DJ Giddens, LeQuint Allen, Jaydon Blue and more.Adam Peters also had an interview with Kay Adams around the Commanders offseason and a possible Terry McLaurin extension, saying that we want Terry to be “A Commander for life”. 1. Do you believe there's still some untapped upside with Ashton Jeanty as a receiving weapon out of the backfield?2. Do you think Omarion Hampton is a special talent worthy of a top-20 selection?3. If you were the GM of a team that needed ANY kind of RB, and you were forced to choose between Treveyon Henderson and Quinshon Judkins, who would be your pick and why? 4. Do you believe Kaleb Johnson has the requisite fundamentals of playing RB (most notably vision and footwork) to succeed at the NFL level despite his lack of explosiveness?5. Do you think Dylan Sampson has the goods to play on all three downs at the NFL level?6. Do you think Cam Skattebo deserves to be selected in Rounds 2-3, and if he doesn't hear his name called on Day 2, would you expect him to outplay his draft position?7. Buy Or Sell-Bhayshul Tuten, Damien Martinez, Jordan James, Ollie Gordon II, Devin Neal, R.J. Harvey, D.J. The No. 5 Texas Longhorns made it a bit more dramatic than it needed to be at times, but came away with a win over the Clemson Tigers to open the 2024 College Football Playoffs. Rather than the defense setting the pace for Texas, it was the offense that got the job done, dominating the Tigers on the ground. Jaydon Blue turned in a career day, while Quintrevion Wisner inched closer to 1,000 yards on the season for the Longhorns.

Welcome to a special DFS-only episode of Sharpen the Point with your host, Chris Tyndall. flying solo today. No betting insights this time—Chris is focusing on what he knows best: Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) strategy and player picks. We've been scoring big tournament wins. Over the last two weeks, he's been 20-maxing tournaments on DK, with 15 and 14 entries cashing—a high yield right now. Player pools have been tight and crisp. We're going to break down every game on the Week 9 college football main slate and highlight the best plays. Record Year to Date: 15 Wins, 18 Ties, 15 Losses Record is based on a player's value using points per dollar. A win is more than 4 times, a tie is 3-4 times, and a loss below 3 times. Example: Oronde Gadsden costs $3,500 and scores 26.8 points for a 7.66 value rating and a win. Quarterback Josh Hoover, TCU ($8,500) – With two high-scoring games in Tulane/North Texas and Texas Tech/TCU, focusing on these matchups is crucial. Each team is expected to score over thirty, setting the stage for Hoover, who leads a TCU offense struggling on the ground and therefore passing more than 60% of the time—a top-ten rate nationally. Texas Tech's pass defense remains vulnerable, giving up nearly 270 yards per game, as evidenced by last week's 274/5 performance against Sawyer Robertson. Hoover, combined with Savion Williams and Tahj Brooks, offers a great lineup core. Will Howard, Ohio State ($7,900) – Howard's last outing, a close road game against Oregon, showcased his playmaking. While Ohio State's title hopes are still alive, the team's path forward has narrowed. After the bye, an explosive performance is expected against a Nebraska team coming off a rough outing against Indiana. Ohio State may emphasize the pass here, especially if they want to minimize carries for Quinshon Judkins, who recently underwent hand surgery, and increase Trey'Veon Henderson's workload. Running Back Makhi Hughes, Tulane ($7,400) – Hughes was a no-brainer pick due to his role and the ideal matchup. Tulane's run-heavy offense (about two-thirds of plays) features Hughes as the main back, a trend head coach Jon Sumrall brought over from Troy. With North Texas's strong offense, Tulane's best strategy is ball control, leaning on Hughes to exploit a defense that gives up 175 rushing yards per game. Hughes has hit multiple touchdowns in three straight games, and he's a strong pick to repeat that with 100+ yards and touchdowns. Quintrevion Wisner, Texas ($4,800) – The Texas backfield has seen turnover, with CJ Baxter initially leading before injury, followed by Jaydon Blue, who fumbled his way down the depth chart. Wisner has now taken the lead, outperforming Blue in touches by 14 over the last two games. Vanderbilt's run defense has allowed backs to reach big numbers, with Nate Noel nearly hitting 200 yards. Texas should deliver scoring opportunities for Wisner, making him a great value in a Sarkisian-led offense. Wide Receiver Daniel Jackson, Minnesota ($4,500) – Wide receivers abound in this slate, making the right combo crucial for payouts. Jackson, a star last season for Minnesota with four 100+ yard games and eight touchdowns, continues to see nearly nine targets per game. Facing a Maryland defense ranked near last in passing yards allowed (288 per game), Jackson has a prime opportunity to break out and deliver a high-impact performance. DT Sheffield, North Texas ($7,000) – Sheffield caps the slate as a consistent performer in a North Texas offense that's among the fastest in the country, passing 60% of the time. Averaging 7 catches, 94 yards, and 1.5 touchdowns per game, Sheffield is priced attractively for his role. In cash games, Sheffield feels essential, but for tournaments, Tulane's ability to control the clock could keep Sheffield off the field, opening leverage options like Josh Kelly, Tez Johnson, or Ohio State's playmakers. Georgia visits Texas at 6:30 Central on ABC in one of the most anticipated games of the college football season, and Chase Robinson and Chris Lee break down the matchup. Topics include: Georgia's Carson Beck has been more interception-prone this year. Suspensions and dismissals (the latest being Colbie Young) have impacted Georgia's receiving room. The Bulldogs have also been playing without All-SEC offensive lineman Tate Ratledge. Texas's defense, with playmakers like Trey Moore, Ethan Burke, Barry Sorrell, Anthony Hill, Malik Muhammad and Andrew Mukubka, is deep, talented and productive. The Longhorns have America's best quarterback room with Quinn Ewers and Arch Manning. Texas also has three quality running backs in Tre Wisner, Jaydon Blue and Jerrick Gibson to run behind All-American left tackle Kelvin Banks Jr. The Longhorns also have tons of receiving weapons in Isaiah Bond, Matthew Golden, Ryan Wingo, Gunnar Helm and others. Can Georgia's defense, led by a collection of elite talents like Malaki Starks, return to form after a slippage that started with the Alabama loss? Chase Robinson and Chris Lee preview and share their predictions for the Red River Rivalry game between Texas and Oklahoma in Week 7 of the 2024 college football season. Topics include: Texas has incredible offensive depth, starting with the quarterback room of a (presumably healthy) Quinn Ewers and Arch Manning. The Longhorns have so many players on offense including Gunnar Helm, Isaiah Bond, Ryan Wingo, Matthew Golden, Jaydon Blue and Jerrick Gibson. Oklahoma's defense has 18 sacks and has forced turnovers on an elite 3.8% of snaps. The Longhorns' offensive line, led by Kelvin Banks, will have to be up to the task of blocking Danny Stutsman and company while Texas will have to keep the ball out of safety Billy Bowman's hands. Oklahoma has been injury-riddled at offensive line and receiver. Can the Sooners get a little healthier following a bye week? The Sooners will also get Michael Hawkins an extra week of practicing with the first team; Hawkins started the season as a backup to Jackson Arnold. Oklahoma has guys who can make plays like Deion Burks and (if they can get him healthy) Nic Anderson. Texas has so many playmakers on defense; seven different players (Jahdae Barron, Ethan Burke, Andrew Mukuba, Wardell Mack, Jay'Vion Cole, Derek Williams and Anthony Hill) have interceptions and the Longhorns have plenty of other playmakers up front like Trey Moore and David Gbenda. The No. 1 Texas Longhorns finished their cruise through non-conference play with a lopsided win over the ULM Warhawks. Arch Manning got the start in place of an injured Quinn Ewers and came down to earth a bit after a headline-grabbing performance against UTSA. Jaydon Blue was the star on the offensive side, while the defense as a whole shut down the Warhawks and made their ground attack a non-issue early.
Chase Robinson and Chris Lee preview and share their predictions for Mississippi State's trip to Texas and analyze the matchup. Thoughts include: Will we see Arch Manning or Quinn Ewers this week as coach Steve Sarkisian has a choice to make in resting Ewers (shoulder) with a bye week ahead. Mississippi State quarterback Blake Shapen is done for the year, so, the Bulldogs turned things over to true freshman Michael Van Buren last week. The Bulldogs have found a running game in spots with Keyvone Lee and Davon Booth, but haven't faced a rushing defense like the Longhorns. Texas has numerous offensive stars in Jaydon Blue, Jerrick Gibson, Isaiah Bond, Ryan Wingo, Gunnar Helm and others. Mississippi State has had trouble with run defense against Power 5 teams.
Bobby Burton and CJ Vogel hand out their grades for the offensive position groups after the Texas Longhorns defeat the ULM Warhawks 51-3!
The No. 4 Texas Longhorns did what championship-contending teams should do to outmatched opponents and jumped all over the Colorado State Rams to a lopsided victory. Perhaps the most impressive part about the game is that there wasn't a truly dominant performance from one player. Quarterback Quinn Ewers turned in another day at the office, spreading the ball around to multiple receivers en route to an early exit. Jaydon Blue got the start at running back and ended his day early with the game in-hand as Texas looks to protect the depth in that room. The defense shut down the Rams' air raid attack, turning them over two times en-route to the season-opening shut out. Fans hope that same intensity travels with them north as they prepare for the unfriendly confines of Ann Arbor, Mich.
Bobby Burton and Gerry Hamilton hand out their grades for each offensive position following the Longhorns victory over Colorado State!
Rod Babers and Coach Bob Shipley dissect what players, formations, concepts and plays Steve Sarkisian might rely on following two season-ending injuries at running back on this week's Football Theory!

While the Cowboys stumbled in subsequent games against conference newcomers, losing 45-3 to UCF and narrowly avoiding defeat in a double-overtime game against BYU, they remain a formidable contender.Despite an annual matchup since the Big 12's inception in 1996, Texas and Oklahoma State were not scheduled to play in 2023. The Longhorns hold a dominant 26-11 advantage in the overall series, but the Cowboys have won six of the last eight meetings and boast a 2-0 record against Texas under coach Steve Sarkisian. In the spotlight for the Texas vs. Oklahoma State showdown is the clash between unstoppable force and immovable object. Oklahoma State's running back, Ollie Gordon II, a frontrunner for the Doak Walker Award with a nation-leading 1,580 rushing yards, faces a formidable challenge in Texas defensive tackle T'Vondre Sweat. While all of the focus is on the Texas Basketball Team and March Madness, the Texas Football Team is currently enjoying their spring break after their first week of spring practice, including the first fully padded practice of the spring on Friday. Spring ball is where this team is looking to set the foundation for a conference championship this season, and we've heard a lot of great stuff from some potential difference makers on this team. With Quarterback being the most important position, Quinn Ewers and Arch Manning have looked the part thus far. Will Maalik Murphy's injury thrust Arch into a bigger role than anticipated this season? Cedric Baxter, Savion Red, and Jaydon Blue have all impressed at times in spring practice, but is it enough to be confident in this run game moving forward without Bijan? Xavier Worthy is poised for a return to glory while this Texas receiver room is loaded with talent in Jordan Whittington, AD Mitchell, Johntay Cook and JT Sanders at the TE position. Will we finally see the elite offense that Sark was brought to Texas for? On the defensive side we have playmakers at each level, making this one of the most complete football teams at the 40 in recent memory. After a slow start to the season, the Baseball team has won six straight games ahead of their second consecutive game against North Dakota State tonight.Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!Built BarBuilt Bar is a protein bar that tastes like a candy bar. The Texas Longhorns Football Team completed their second spring practice and we continue to hear rave reviews about the most important position on the football field. Quinn Ewers and Arch Manning are both said to have made "Several NFL throws" in the second spring practice, represent talent we have not seen in the Quarterback room in a long time. Players like Jaydon Blue and Cedric Baxter are helping smooth the losses of Bijan Robinson and Roschon Johnson, and Johntay Cook sounds like the next great Wide Receiver at the University of Texas. Jatavion Sanders is poised to compete for the Mackey Award, given to the best tight end in the country every year and an experienced offensive line led by Kelvin Banks should be better this season. On defense, veterans like Ryan Watts, Jerrin Thompson, Jaylan Ford, and T'vondre Sweat will look to build on one of the best Texas defenses in recent memory, while also mentoring young players like Anthony Hill and Malik Muhammad. Locked On Longhorns - Daily Podcast On Texas Longhorns Football & Basketball
Steve Sarkisian and the offensive staff have made the decision to move Savion Red from the Wide Receiver position to Runningback in hopes of getting him more on field opportunities in 2023. Red was a do it all player in high school, that ran for almost 1,400 yards and 20 touchdowns his senior season. Can he follow the Roschon Johnson model to success, changing positions which ultimately will end up in him making millions at the NFL level? How does this affect the touches in a talented room that consists of Cedric Baxter, Jonathon Brooks, Keilan Robinson, Jaydon Blue & Tre Wisner? In addition to Roschon Johnson, Bijan Robinson, Demarvion Overshown, Moro Ojomo and Keondre Coburn have been invited to the NFL Draft Combine. Where will each of these forever Longhorns be drafted? Coming off a tough loss to the defending National Champion Kansas Jayhawks, Rodney Terry and the Texas Men's Basketball Team will face off against West Virginia & Texas Tech in a span of 72 hours. I believe both of those games are must wins. Kevin Durant, my all time favorite Longhorn, has been traded to the Phoenix Suns and on paper they look like a Championship Contender with a starting lineup that consists of Durant, Deandre Ayton, Chris Paul and Devin Booker. What does this trade mean for the best player on the planet? All of that and more on today's episode of Locked on Longhorns. Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!
