Today, Pastor Ford will explain that our salvation through Jesus can actually be described in financial terms. Through His sacrifice, Jesus became the investment. And as He redeems us, we become the dividends of His investment. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
As Pastor Ford continues to encourage us to be wise stewards of the money God has blessed us with, he will explain that we can maximize our money by taking advantage of wise investment strategies. We should have our money working for us, instead of working against us. We work for our money, so now that we've earned it, we need to learn how to make our money work for us.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

But rather, He was commending the fact that the steward did something that demonstrated he was handling his money wisely. Today, Pastor Ford will explain one way in which the children of darkness are wiser with their money than the children of light are, and it’s because they tend to plan more for the future. He’ll help us understand that it’s not the amount of money you make, but rather your attitude towards your money that makes the difference.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
As we continue this study from Luke 16, about how to manage money wisely, Pastor Ford will explain the difference between needs, wants, and desires. Sean Lee, the co-founder of Odsy Network, joins the show this week recorded recently as part of the Techstars Web3 Community Series events organized by the Techstars Web3 Accelerator. Sean is the former CEO of the Algorand Foundation, he is an accomplished executive in web3 innovation and fintech, and is a senior advisor for the Crypto Council for Innovation. SecuriCentrix sponsors this episode of MoneyNeverSleeps. SecuriCentrix is a trusted cyber security company with offices in Dublin, Cape Town and London. SecuriCentrix provides expert advisory services, primarily in the finance and fintech industries, with tailored security solutions to fit your specific needs and regulatory challenges. In this episode, Sean Lee and Pete Townsend riff on his vision for universal access in web3 and some of the web3 scenarios where universal access will make a big difference, how early-stage founders should be thinking about accessibility when they're designing their platforms and roadmaps, how advocacy and collaboration will drive global adoption of crypto and web3, and what Sean looks for in web3 founders. KEY TAKEAWAY: Sean Lee shared his vision for how to make web3 more accessible and enable us to get to the first one billion users of web3. Sean took the key word ‘accessibility' and broke it down for us into three components. Interface – the control panel for accessing our assets on mobile or web devices. Infrastructure – the management and security layers protecting our assets and providing connectivity to the web3 ecosystem. Ecosystem – the universe of applications, services, and platforms that enable you to use your assets. The first two components, the interface and the infrastructure, have always been combined together, as we see in the most popular non-custodial wallets like MetaMask and Coinbase Wallet. We use the same app to access our assets, that we use to protect our assets, that we use to enable connectivity with the web3 ecosystem. Even though we're 13 years on with blockchain-based assets, we're still early, as the overall value of these assets at their peak was a bit more than 1% of the world's financial wealth. So, the tools we use to access, protect and use these assets are still underdeveloped. As with any technology, tradeoffs are made in the design phase to prioritize what's most important, and with digital assets, the most important feature to date has been security, not usability. With only 30 million monthly active users of MetaMask, for example, we're not talking about an earth-shattering number of people engaging with digital assets compared to the 8 trillion people on the planet. The number one priority, by far, has been to ensure the security of digital assets, rather than make it the most enjoyable experience for us as individuals. So, what we think is a user interface is actually just infrastructure – very important infrastructure at that, but nothing that has been specifically designed to enable mass adoption. Think about the engineer responsible for designing the Tesla electric motor – what if that engineer was also responsible for designing the instrumentation panel, seats, and steering wheel? You'd likely have a great electric motor, but it would be packaged into a very basic driver experience. That's what's happened with web3 wallets – user experience has been sacrificed for the most important features of the wallet, which in this case, are security and connectivity. It's been a critically important compromise for us to get to this point with blockchain-based assets, but we've got a long way to go to get to the Tesla. Primitives like Odsy will enable that separation of the interface from the infrastructure while connecting us to the ecosystem to put our digital assets to use. Suzanna Hayek met with Pete Townsend on August 24th, and they discussed trends in digital finance, startups, investing, and how Pete wishes he had been an actual rock star. Trends The keywords that Pete searches for to help him shape his thesis are fintech, embedded finance, digital assets, crypto, defi, blockchain, DLT, NFTs, metaverse, tokens, tokenization, etc. To him, this is all about the ongoing digitalization of finance into what he calls "digital finance"– enabling the buying and selling of financial products and services, by both institutions and individuals, through a 100% digital experience across the entire value chain, extending from how that financial product is created through to how it does what it's supposed to do (spend, save, invest, insure) in the hands of an individual or an institution. Pete's thoughts on Cryptocurrency Pete talked about crypto's successful 12-year proof of concept for the wider digitalisation of finance - lots to learn as we move to the new frontier of money. He also talked extensively about crypto enabling financial inclusion and how migrants can largely benefit. He talked about how his experiences, particularly his visit to Bolivia in 2006, were stark reminders of the disparity between rich and poor. Pete pointed out that financial inclusion is not a charity but a profitable business model. His tips for startups and investing in startups included asking the following questions:- 1- What problem are you solving, and is that problem big enough for individuals or businesses to give you money to solve that problem? 2- Does that group of individuals and/or businesses form a customer market that's big enough for you to get to $100mn in annual recurring revenue? 3- What's your plan to reach those customers? If you're B2B, how do you bring those businesses more customers, and if you're B2C, how do you monetize other businesses' interest in your customers? 4- Founder-market fit - why is this founder tackling this problem for this market, why now, and can they build and grow* the business? 5- Everything else - team, traction, technology, timing, terms & competition And finally, he challenged everyone to guess the opening jingle to his podcast, Money Never Sleeps, for a free one-hour consultation with him. Bio Pete Townsend is the founder of Norio Ventures, a startup advisor, NED, podcaster @MNSShow and a self-proclaimed rockstar of financial services. Pete is based in Ireland. Suzanna Hayek is an MA Journalism student in London. She is interested in covering social issues and ocean conservation. In her free time, Suzanna volunteers at EduPact, an initiative by a London-based non-profit, which aims to provide free online lessons to children in Lebanon – where she is originally from. Suzanna is happiest when freediving.
