SecuriCentrix provides expert advisory services, primarily in the finance and fintech industries, with tailored security solutions to fit your specific needs and regulatory challenges. In this episode, Sean Lee and Pete Townsend riff on his vision for universal access in web3 and some of the web3 scenarios where universal access will make a big difference, how early-stage founders should be thinking about accessibility when they're designing their platforms and roadmaps, how advocacy and collaboration will drive global adoption of crypto and web3, and what Sean looks for in web3 founders. KEY TAKEAWAY: Sean Lee shared his vision for how to make web3 more accessible and enable us to get to the first one billion users of web3. Sean took the key word ‘accessibility' and broke it down for us into three components. Interface – the control panel for accessing our assets on mobile or web devices. Infrastructure – the management and security layers protecting our assets and providing connectivity to the web3 ecosystem. Ecosystem – the universe of applications, services, and platforms that enable you to use your assets. The first two components, the interface and the infrastructure, have always been combined together, as we see in the most popular non-custodial wallets like MetaMask and Coinbase Wallet. We use the same app to access our assets, that we use to protect our assets, that we use to enable connectivity with the web3 ecosystem. Even though we're 13 years on with blockchain-based assets, we're still early, as the overall value of these assets at their peak was a bit more than 1% of the world's financial wealth. So, the tools we use to access, protect and use these assets are still underdeveloped. As with any technology, tradeoffs are made in the design phase to prioritize what's most important, and with digital assets, the most important feature to date has been security, not usability. With only 30 million monthly active users of MetaMask, for example, we're not talking about an earth-shattering number of people engaging with digital assets compared to the 8 trillion people on the planet. The number one priority, by far, has been to ensure the security of digital assets, rather than make it the most enjoyable experience for us as individuals. So, what we think is a user interface is actually just infrastructure – very important infrastructure at that, but nothing that has been specifically designed to enable mass adoption. Think about the engineer responsible for designing the Tesla electric motor – what if that engineer was also responsible for designing the instrumentation panel, seats, and steering wheel? You'd likely have a great electric motor, but it would be packaged into a very basic driver experience. That's what's happened with web3 wallets – user experience has been sacrificed for the most important features of the wallet, which in this case, are security and connectivity. It's been a critically important compromise for us to get to this point with blockchain-based assets, but we've got a long way to go to get to the Tesla. Primitives like Odsy will enable that separation of the interface from the infrastructure while connecting us to the ecosystem to put our digital assets to use. The Scoop
Algorand Foundation CEO Staci Warden on how Algorand is going to distinguish itself in the bear market

The Scoop

Play Episode Listen Later Jul 18, 2022 44:18

Although Algorand may not be the most popular blockchain ecosystem, its underlying technology is arguably among the most cutting edge. Founded in 2017 by Silvio Micali, MIT professor and Turing Award recipient for his pioneering work in the fields of cryptography and computer science, Algorand uses a highly efficient consensus mechanism it calls pure proof of stake, and is one of the most energy-efficient blockchains in the industry. While Silvio Micali oversees the research and development of Algorand's technology, the Algorand Foundation is responsible for helping the surrounding community flourish. In this episode of The Scoop, Algorand Foundation CEO Staci Warden detailed recent developments in the Algorand ecosystem that she hopes will harness the power of Algorand's technology for global good.  "We have the best tech in crypto, and I think a lot of people would acknowledge that," Warden says. She cites Algorand's roughly 1,000 transactions per second and 4.5 second settlement time — which the development team hopes to increase to 10,000 transactions per second and 2.5 second settlement time by the end of the year. Given these performance indicators, Warden believes Algorand is equipped to handle problems at scale. As she explains, "When you've got a machine like that, of course you start thinking big — and so we think in terms of very big global problems." One of these problems is financial inclusion, which the Algorand Foundation is looking to address through an upcoming partnership with an organization that is planning to make 4G mobile phones preloaded with Algorand's tech available to people in Africa who might otherwise be unable to access traditional financial services. Algorand also has a growing decentralized finance ecosystem, largely due to an ecosystem fund launched last September that today is worth approximately $50 million. //Coinscrum Markets EP42 Segment - Market Spotlight with Alessio Quaglini, CEO, Hex Trust and Sean Lee, CEO, Algorand Fondation //Segment Overview:: With the rise of blockchain and crypto assets being a global phenomenon, we're entering a phase where jurisdictional arbitrage and nation-state positioning is going to become evermore significant. In recent years we've seen the narrative change from the need for a clear distinction between permissioned blockchains (for enterprise use-cases) and permissionless blockchains (for the innovators) to something where the lines are becoming more blurred. Alessio and Sean joined Paul Gordon to discuss the growth of institutional adoption of digital assets and Blockchain tech both in terms of investment and direct utilisation of these networks. //Read on Coinscrum Website www.coinscrum.com or watch the video version on our Youtube Channel. //Follow our Social Media:: www.linkedin.com/company/coinscrum www.twitter.com/coinscrum www.facebook.com/Coinscrum //Join our Facebook Community:: https://www.facebook.com/groups/Coinscrum //Our sponsors:: Buy & HODL BTC/ETH/LTC/XRP on Luno - http://www.coinscrum.com/luno-exchange/ Earn up to 8% interest with Blockfi - http://www.coinscrum.com/blockfi-earn-interest/ Analyse on-chain data at ByteTree - http://www.coinscrum.com/bytetree-terminal/ Get a Custodian Wallet at Trustology - http://www.coinscrum.com/custodian-wallet
