As cryptocurrency markets rebound and slowly but surely become more mainstream, two experts discuss the potential for blockchain tech to be embraced by entertainment dealmakers as an antidote to the age-old problems of Hollywood accounting. Tarun Chitra, founder and CEO of research and advisory firm Gauntlet and co-host of “The Chopping Block” podcast, and Duke University professor Lee Reiners bring vastly different perspectives to this question. For this week's episode, Jacquelyn interviewed Grace Torrellas, Polygon Labs' VP of product and zkEVM product lead and co-founder and executive director of Blockchain for Humanity, at TechCrunch's Disrupt 2023 in San Francisco.Blockchain for Humanity aims to use Bitcoin and blockchain technology to help social impact projects. Separately, Polygon Labs is focused on the Ethereum blockchain through its own scaling protocols to make the web3 ecosystem more “affordable, secure and sustainable.” The chain also aims to grow the zero-knowledge ethereum virtual machine (zkEVM) space. Breaking it down for you: zkEVM is just fancy jargon for scalable smart contracts that are compatible with Ethereum and supports a type of computation known as “zero-knowledge proofs,” that verify each transaction. Polygon Labs has over 2.9 billion total transactions since inception in 2017. The Polygon network works with web3 organizations like Aave, Uniswap and OpenSea as well as big name brands like Disney and Starbucks. We talked about her work at both Polygon and Blockchain for humanity and how humanitarian work can be advanced in the web3 space. We also discussed: Scaling businesses with blockchain tech‘Aha' moments in web3 Opportunities in social impact Polygon's ecosystem growth Chain Reaction comes out every Thursday at 12:00 p.m. ET, so be sure to subscribe to us on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or your favorite pod platform to keep up with the action.

Ep. 118: In the latest Focus podcast episode we're joined by Keatly Haldeman of the blockchain music sync licensing platform Dequency. Attention has moved away from web3 tech and shifted via the metaverse to AI; so we thought it was time to check in and see how web3 tech has progressed away from the pressure of all that hype. Keatly still thinks that web3 and blockchain tech will transform the music industry, and we talk to him about what he thinks the long term impact of web3, crypto, and blockchain tech will be on the music business now that it's on the gentle upwards slope of the hype cycle, and how Dequency is, he believes, a good example of aligning the needs of artists, content creators, and blockchain technology. https://dequency.io Sublime – 40oz. RocketFuel Payment Solutions CEO Peter Jensen joins Natalie Stoberman from the Proactive studios to discuss the potential impact of a gold-backed currency being developed by BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) on cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology. Jensen says he sees the gold-backed currency as another use case for blockchain technology, highlighting its ability to automate and enhance existing payment systems. He believes that currencies, whether fiat or digital, need to be backed by something of value, such as gold, to gain traction and compete with established currencies like the U.S. dollar. While acknowledging the U.S. dollar's dominance in global trade, Jensen points out that there are already multiple currencies competing with it, such as the Euro and Bitcoin. He expects shifts in currency dynamics over time, citing the growth of the Chinese currency as an example. Regarding the potential optimization of money movement, Jensen emphasizes that the monetary system should embrace digitalization using blockchain-based technologies. He suggests that individuals using their local currency may not need to worry, but businesses operating across borders should keep an eye on developments in order to facilitate secure and cost-effective cross-border transactions. #ProactiveInvestors #RocketFuelPaymentSolutions #BRICS #GoldBackedCurrency #Cryptocurrencies #BlockchainTechnology #PaymentSolutions #GlobalTrade #DigitalCurrency #FiatCurrency #USdollar #Euro #Bitcoin #CurrencyCompetition #CrossBorderTransactions #FinancialTechnology #MonetarySystem #Digitalization #EconomicShifts #TradeCurrency #FinancialNews #BusinessInsights #InternationalPayments #CurrencyExchange #EmergingMarkets #DigitalEconomy #FutureofFinance #GlobalEconomy #NatalieStoberman #invest #investing #investment #investor #stockmarket #stocks #stock #stockmarketnews

Decentralized real estate investing is a form of investing in which individuals or groups of investors pool their money to purchase property. This type of investing allows for a more diverse portfolio and can provide a higher rate of return than traditional investing methods. Additionally, it allows investors to be more hands-on with their investments, and can provide a more direct way to generate income from real estate. In other words, imagine owning a piece of your condo building, the house you're renting or a part of your neighborhood via an on-chain technology. Calvin and his team are on a mission to expand access and opportunity for everyone to own real estate by investing in the places we live, work, and play. Sean: How about your podcast? Can you tell us a little bit more about your podcast? So you started it during a time when you were in a transition in your life, I'd say a major transition because you finally decided that, okay, I probably don't need to work. What do I want to do? Right. And that's what you mentioned earlier. So why did you start that podcast? What's it for? What's your main purpose and who are going to be the people who should listen to your podcast? Yasi: Yeah, as you said at that time, I was questioning myself, what would I do if money's not a problem? And I have all the time in the world, right? Actually, even years before, I wanted to start a YouTube channel, because when I was living, you know, Democratic Republic of Congo, Sweden, and Singapore, I find it so many different experiences. I want to record it but I will always be very camera shy. And it really took a lot of time to edit, so I never really get it started. And I'm an avid podcast listener, so I listen to a lot of podcasts. Then at that time, just what came to my mind is like, Yeah, why not start a podcast instead of a YouTube channel? I thought it was a great idea because looking back, you see a lot of things happening in my life not just one moment, like, Oh, let's do this. It's a lot of things that happened in the past. So the dots started to connect. So in the past few years before COVID, I was traveling all around the world for different conferences. I met tons of people. I met hundreds of entrepreneurs, and I had great conversations with them, with them. I talked to them, I think, similar to how I interview people because I ask about their personal story, how they started with their business, you know, that I learned from them. So that's one thing. So I can do this. I feel comfortable. I enjoy doing this. And then secondly, I read a lot of personal development books in 2016 when I was working in Singapore, I worked in the other. The office is in a factory side, it's like almost close to Malaysia. So it took me one and a half hours every day on the road. So I was having my boss noise cancellation. I listen to audiobooks. I probably consume more than 100 books in that year. Then I thought I never had a mentor. Right? When you want to grow and learn something, you need to have a mentor in life. And it's not so easy for everyone to find a mentor in life because you need to have this vibe, and connection with them. But I learned so much from all the books and podcasts and I thought, okay, let me create this channel to extract all the knowledge and experience from my guests and then to help my audience so that they can learn from other people's experiences, even though they don't have a mentor or even though they don't know my guest in person, but they can learn from them. So that's the starting point of how I design this podcast interview style and focus on the topics that I am interested in. Because I thought if I'm interested in career, entrepreneurship, and money, there must be tons of people out there like I would be interested in these topics. And my initial idea is really like I create something that I enjoy doing. Then I would attract the right audience that will think of the same thing that I do. So that's how I started this podcast this way and this format and this content. - - - Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/leadershipstack Join our community and ask questions here: from.sean.si/discord Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/leadershipstack Leadership Stack Merch: https://leadershipstack.com/shop/

This is the first episode of a three-part UNAJUA Series dealing with investing in African blockchain tech. And we're stoked because it's the first to feature two voices. The first voice you'll hear is that of Hope Ditlhakanyane. Hope is a venture capital pro helping African tech founders land the resources and support they need to build and scale their startups. Hope is particularly committed to backing woman founders, and to that end, she's an active woman-focussed angel investor. She currently serves as Head of Venture Sourcing at the Pan-African investor, venture builder and accelerator company, Founders Factory Africa. Joining Hope on the mic is her work colleague and friend, Nzwisisa Chidembo. Nzwi is the Head of Engineering at Founders Factory Africa, and over the last few years, he's helped build and scale numerous tech-enabled ventures across the continent. He's also an entrepreneur with more than 15 years of experience across various industries such as telecoms, e-commerce, biotechnology, retail and, more recently, blockchain tech. In their respective roles at Founders Factory Africa, Hope and Nzwi have recently collaborated to facilitate VC investment in two promising African blockchain tech startups. Nzwi was an early adopter of Bitcoin and other blockchain applications on the private investment side of things. He now has a growing personal portfolio of blockchain investments. Meanwhile, Hope is a confessed late-joiner to the space both as a private and corporate investor. But, she's keenly making up for the lost time by finessing smart blockchain investments in her personal capacity while refining her playbook for backing the space as an institutional VC. In this episode, Hope and Nzwi reflect on how Africa's VC industry currently frames blockchain tech as a viable investment opportunity. Salvador – Ep. 64 About the Guest Can't wait to share this next conversation with all of you. Today on the show I have Robert J. Salvador, CEO of Digibuild Software. Rob is the visionary driving force behind DigiBuild, an experienced builder, project manager and construction technologist. Since the age of 10, Rob has witnessed what it was like, firsthand for his Dad struggling to run his construction company. Rob eventually started his own construction company and those experiences and the lack of change over that timespan led to his mission of creating a better way to operate construction projects and the construction community. Rob's passion and previous cryptocurrency startup experience is what led to him becoming a blockchain expert. In 2017 he had his ‘aha moment' and the idea of 'how to' apply blockchain to construction took form and DigiBuild was born. In this episode, we learned about Rob's past experience in the construction industry and how his passion for helping businesses and people grew into what is now Digibuild. We discussed the key benifts of blockchain technology and how it can be utilized in construction. Finally, we discussed how owner's and developer's can benefit by utilizing blockchain to build an owner's manual of sorts for their project! There is tons of great information in this episode! I hope you enjoy! As always, if you have enjoyed the show, please subscribe to the show and share with your friends in the industry. There will be more exciting conversations on the shows to come. Shipping times from China, the world's biggest exporter, are set to grow longer amid a new set of Covid quarantine mandates for vessel crews. The new rules mean that seafarers may have to spend as much as seven weeks in isolation for each return trip. That latest blow to the logistics industry comes as the Covid pandemic appears to have gained renewed momentum, propelling a surge in demand for products as consumers around the world stay at home.Adding to the bottleneck is an increase in U.S. manufacturing output to levels not seen since March 2019, which will likely be augmented by the $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill that President Joe Biden recently signed into law.“There's a lot happening in terms of supply, as we know — unprecedented volumes going on with demand currently,” Dennis Delgado, the co-founder and chief product officer of supply chain-focused blockchain firm SyncFab, told Forkast.News. “There's a huge backlog in the industry.”The use of blockchain to facilitate logistics processes is one of the technology's less-talked-about success stories, in which it incorporates layers of trust through which enterprises in the supply chain network can share data and digitize paper-shuffling manual operations.Yet the logistics business has proved somewhat resistant to the allure of blockchain technology, a reluctance attributable largely to regulatory concerns and a lack of knowledge. “You'd be surprised at the number of companies and vendors we work with that are still hesitant to adopt new technologies,” Delgado said. “When you get into some of the larger organizations that have been around for decades, they have entrenched systems in place that can vary from department to department.”A talent crunch in the logistics sector has deepened supply chain problems across a range of industries. Consulting firm Deloitte argues that the evolving complexity of supply chain management requires not only a larger workforce but also new skills. According to Delgado, SyncFab and partner firm Smart MFG can make manufacturing “cool again” by adding incentive layers in which MFG tokens are used to reward supply chain processes that may otherwise go unnoticed, such as quoting for work. “Areas like that, where we normally don't think would necessarily be paid or rewarded, we disagree,” Delgado said. “We think there are a lot of opportunities there that these blockchain tokenomics can bring, and with the added layer of getting a newer generation interested in manufacturing again.”Watch Delgado's full interview with Forkast.News Editor-in-Chief Angie Lau to learn more about the current supply chain crisis, how NFTs can be used in manufacturing, and how blockchain can help digitize legacy industries.
