Presented by 6D Helmets There was a collective groan around the world from every Supercross fan when Eli Tomac clipped the back of his left leg with his footpeg and pulled off the track during the Tampa Supercross timed qualifying sessions. The event was too reminiscent of when Tomac ruptured his Achilles tendon while leading the championship in 2023, even down to how he pulled off the track in disbelief. Unless you've been living in a cave, you know by now that Tomac raced through the pain in Tampa and finished 17th in the main event aboard his Yamaha YZ450F. Later that week, further examination revealed that he had broken his fibula, making his 17th a lot more impressive than it might be on paper. Tomac had the broken bone plated back together and is at home recovering, with plans on "returning before the end of Supercross to get some gate drops to be ready for the MX Nationals." We enjoyed a great conversation with ET3 in this installment of the 6D Helmets Midweek Podcast. Enjoy!

When the team announced that it was closing its doors, Mumford was left without a ride, even though he had two years remaining on his contract. Recently, news has broken that he has joined the Chaparral Honda squad, which is now in its second year of operation. We checked in with Mumford this afternoon to see how the new team, machine, and personnel are suiting him.

Presented by Pro Taper With a break in the MX Nationals, we all got to enjoy some personal time this weekend. For race fans like us, all seems right in the world again and to top things off, our MX Nationals start in only five days! There have been some interesting developments in the sport in the past week, and we go over them all in this week's Pro Taper Kickstart Podcast. Enjoy!
Presented by Pro Taper We're 26 days away from the start of the Lucas Oil MX Nationals kickoff at Loretta Lynn's, and we are HYPED! Still, there's some grumbling about the schedule from race teams, and of course the ever-changing COVID-19 conditions from state to state. We sure hope the schedule goes off without a hitch, as we want to see some great racing as badly as everyone else. Anton brings some great insight on today's show and our regular co-host ARay is back in the studio with us. Lots of great stuff this week! Thanks to the guys at Pro Taper for making it all possible.
Presented by FLY RacingWhen the “indefinite postponement” of 2020 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship came today, we called our contacts at MX Sports for more details. No, the race season will not kick off in the middle of July like we expected, but it's not all bad news. Our main conversation was with Events Organizer Tim Cotter, and it answered a lot of questions that many of us have thought about over the last few weeks. Tim is one of the guys we see at every round of the outdoors series and his role in the newly founded Race Leadership Team means that he's discussed and planned for every possible scenario this summer.During our talk, Tim explained that the current plan is to start the season at some point in August and to hold a minimum of six races, but maybe as many as nine, all of which depends on how the next few weeks play out. There will be restrictions and requirements in place at the track, something we had long assumed but hadn't heard directly from MX Sports until now, all of which were addressed. If you come to the races, don't expect much interaction between yourself and the pros, nor the usual mass gathering at the podium after each moto. For those of you wondering, wearing a face covering will be encouraged but not mandatory. One of the biggest details of the talk with Tim was that MX Sports intends to announce races 30-days ahead of time and that we can expect some more information to come out in mid-July.
We had to get John Prutti on for a chat after he recently blew up the gram when he landed the "Alley Oop" on a quarter pipe to an air bag as only the second person in the world to land the trick off an 18ft Quarter pipe.. on a dirtbike.. crazy! John's journey has been awesome to watch, from being a struggling privateer racer in the 2019 MX Nationals to taking on the freeride dream and getting involved in best whip contests, producing content along with landing sponsors and starting his own media and content company. Prutti really is the definition of a Motocross entrepreneur in 2020. Unfortunately the alley oop got the better of him and he talks to host Joe Stevens with a few injuries and time off the bike coming up, this is a great interview.
In this episode of the lowdown Mick sits down with Mx Nationals promoter Kevin Williams and gets into everything from his story of starting out as radio guy then transitioning into being a promoter. The current state of the sport and how Covid 19 has effected it and what the future could possibly hold. Riders Pay and the lack of attendance at the events. Kevin was super honest and insightful into everything that goes into making the Australian national races happen.
Seeing that we should be talking about the results from the first 2 rounds of the MX Nationals from this past weekend we kept the ball rolling by getting Scott Lillis from Penrite Honda to co-host via phone on whats been going on the the different measures Teams are now exploring by getting content out on Social Media sights. Interviews with Aaron Tanti, Hayden Mellross, Dean Ferris, Kirk Gibb and Kyle Webster.
Presented by 6D Helmets Last week, Feld announced that "It's. Not. Over." and that the 2020 Monster Energy Supercross Series would wrap up in the Fall after the summertime MX Nationals. In addition to this, we've spent some time on the phone with Feld officials to get the scoop on what might be in store. Kill some time with the SML staff and guest co-host Alex Ray this week on the 6D Helmets Kickstart Podcast.
