Bernie & Sid in the Morning segue you into the weekend with a Friday morning program jam-packed with all the week's top stories. Yesterday the Attorney General Merrick Garland sat on the House Floor and took questions from Senators on his siccing of the FBI on concerned parents at school board meetings. Garland barely had an answer for any of the pressing questions he fielded from Senators Chip Roy, Jim Jordan, and Mike Johnson, just to name a few. Anybody who watched the hearings could easily tell that the incompetence of the current administration does not end with the President, and that it runs deep throughout his entire staff. In other news, the guys reflect on what was a great "Back the Blue" celebration here at 77WABC yesterday, and Sid has come to the conclusion that Police Commissioner Dermot Shea is actually an avid listener of the program. Also, actor Alec Baldwin is living a nightmare today as a freak accident involving a prop gun on the set of his new movie has led to the death of a crew member and the serious injury of the film's director. Baldwin will most certainly have to take the fall for the incident, as he was the one who fired the lethal shot. Nassau County Executive Laura Curran joins Bernie & Sid in today's third hour, and of course be sure you do not miss Lidia Reports and The Peerless Boilers Beat Bernie Contest.

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- After months of mounting pressure and a drastic decline in popularity due to numerous scandals, this week, Andrew Cuomo formally resigned as the Governor of New York. As he transitions out of office, all eyes have shifted to his successor: Lt. Governor Kathy Hochul. Who is Kathy Hochul? Well, that's the topic of our latest In Depth Podcast. Although some local politicians and upstate citizens are familiar with her work, the whole country is interested in finding out who she really is and what she's truly capable of. In this episode, in addition to delving into the events that lead to Hochul's rise, 1010 WINS reporter Al Jones speaks to two top women in New York's political circle, NYS Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart Cousins and Nassau County Executive Laura Curran, and gauges their thoughts on her shattering the state's glass ceiling and how they think she'll do in office. Nassau County Executive Laura Curran has vetoed the Police Class Protection legislation. This bill passed the County Legislature 12 to 6 and would give Police a wide range for legal retribution against protestors. This came with the strong advice by the Attorney General of New York after concerns of First Amendment violations would soon occur after the passage of such a document. I speak about how this is a victory for working people and respond to the critiques of the veto. Other than his diapers, Joe Biden does not change much these days. Biden continues to lie about his past, as he displayed in Pennsylvania yesterday when he claimed he had one been a semi-truck driver. Does the media question his cognitive skills? Nope but Bernie and Sid do because someone has to keep things fair and balanced. Bernie and Sid bring you the other gaffes (yes, there were more) from Biden's Wednesday plus, the Mayor of Seattle is now begging for police officers to come back as crime continues to rise in Democratic run cities like Seattle, AOC claims she feared that she would be raped during the incident on January 6th at The Capitol (which she was not present at), Nancy Pelosi shows her true colors by name-calling people she disagrees with, and NBC's Chuck Todd claims there is no such thing as liberal bias in the media. Municipal officials and analysts have their sights set on social equity and climate resilience as Congress debates more than a trillion dollars of infrastructure spending proposed by the Biden administration, panelists focus on how state and local governments will use existing American Rescue Plan Act funding to address broadband and water and sewer needs. Additionally, panelists weigh in on the outlook for investment by counties and cities and risks posed by climate change to states, counties, and cities in the $4 trillion municipal bond market. This special briefing features a panel of experts, including Governor Brad Little, Idaho; US Representative Carolyn Bourdeaux (D-Georgia); Laura Curran, Executive, Nassau County New York; Thomas G. Doe, president, Municipal Market Analytics. Notable Quotes: "I look at all infrastructure through the climate lens," Municipal Market Analytics (MMA) President Thomas G. Doe said "It's looking not just at existing projects and their risk, but also what the future probable risks are for any new efforts that are being done, and, especially, not just on durability but also on equity as well." "As you know this is not a sexy topic," but it is critical, Representative Bourdeaux said. "It's kind of like your abs when you work out: It is your core." Governor Little said Idaho was being cautious in its use of relief money. "We're not certain, and I don't think anybody is, about when this is going to normalize," he said. "We want to make sure we know what normal is … and what to do when the federal government ceases to inject money into the economy." "When you have stable communities, safe communities, and more environmentally resilient communities, that's good for the economy, ergo it's good for our credit rating," Nassau County Executive Laura Curran said, noting the county's efforts to rectify chronic credit issues. Interesting! Next, they dive into CNN 'Analyst' Areva Martin calling black conservative radio host David Webb a man who suffers from white privilege. His response is epic. They then discuss President Trump's trolling of Nancy Pelosi, canceling a prescheduled public relations tour out of 'respect for the 800,000 federal workers without pay.' It was hilarious. Then end by discussing Nassau County Executive Laura Curran trying to get ICE removed from a Nassau County Correctional Center. Why? We don't know.
