She is a fighter and her mission is help others however she can and to bring awareness to Suicide Awareness and Prevention...pushing this difficult topic out of the darkness and into a space where it can be discussed and so that those struggling in silence can get the help they need. Lisa discusses the day she found her daughter and how her life changed from that moment forward. She talks about the process she has gone through to work on her continued healing, the reasons she had to forgive and the flood of emotions that sometimes take over. Lisa reminisces about getting to know her daughter more intimately through her beautiful art, poetry and journaling, the signs she gets from Neyla letting her know that she is near and how after getting the help she says she needed..she "picked up where Neyla left off". Tune in today to hear Lisa's story of loss and how she works everyday to keep herself moving forward and keeping strong for her two sons. She works tirelessly to continue with her healing and she has become a strong advocate for mental health awareness....ultimately becoming the voice of her daughter's "fulfilled wish". Depuis que je suis papa vous l’auriez constaté la constance dans la publication des episodes tend à baisser mais je vais me ressaisir très bientôt. C’est un événement qui m’engage dans d’autre responsabilités et demande beaucoup de mon temps. j’essaie de m’organiser encore et avec le boulot et le calendrier de l’année qui se ressert c’est pas du tout facile. mais d’un autre côté c’est beaucoup d'émotion que je vis également, j’apprends à être papa et voire la petite Neyla qui pousse, cela me donne beaucoup de joie et plus de courage et de motivation pour faire les choses. Aujourd’hui je suis avec Estelle, une amie, togolaise de nationalité et résidant au Mali. Estelle est une jeune dame passionnée et très courageuse à mon sens et je suis sûre que vous sériez du même avis que moi après cette écoute. Elle est volontaire du programme des nation unis depuis plus de trois années et a été en mission dans les zones les plus chaudes du continent, aux côtés des populations victimes puisqu’elle travaille dans la gestion des crises au sein du centre conjoint des opérations de la MINUSMA. On a day in late October 195, Kate Slaugherback singlehandedly killed 140 rattlesnakes to protect herself and her young son. When she ran out of ammunition, she grabbed a nearby sign to bludgeon the venomous reptiles. Legend has it, the sign read “No Hunting.” It’s clear why Neyla Pekarek found the ideal subject matter in Rattlesnake Kate. She also found something of a kindred spirit. Playing cello in one of the world’s biggest rock groups isn’t quite like exterminating rattlesnakes en masse, but her time with the Lumineers could be harrowing nonetheless. News of her exit from the Denver  in late 2-18 group was enough to warrant a press release noting that the parties had amicably parted ways, and Pekarek hit the ground running. Rattlesnake was released early this year, along with a theatrical live show betraying her broader musical intentions with the songs.

The Lumineers vocalist, cellist, and pianist - Neyla Pekarek - tells us about that teacher, and how his influence changed her professional course. Neyla Pekarek has been the cellist for Denver folk-rock group The Lumineers since 2010. Despite that band's demanding touring schedule, the Colorado native found time to write and record the original folk opera "Rattlesnake," which she'll release as an album later this year. It's based on the life of Northern Colorado pioneer "Rattlesnake" Kate McHale, who in 1925 allegedly killed 140 snakes to save her life and that of her three-year-old son. Pekarek and her band visited the CPR Performance Studio to play four songs from "Rattlesnake."
