This was a great conversation with Joe DiToma author of Cult of The Black Sun and Cisco Street Love author of Yesterdays Shame: Story of Atlanta Child Murders. These are two very brilliant researchers on a variety of subjects. We covered the Son of sam Case, The Process Church of the Final Judgment, Wayne Williams, The Atlanta Child Murders and much more .The Cult of the Black Sun Paperback – November 15, 2010by Joe DiToma The Cult of the Black Sun by Joseph DiToma is a gripping, white-knuckle thriller about a clandestine operation involving deadly Nazi technology. Hamilton Knight, an OSS operative, begins working alongside his former German enemies and, feeling increasingly uneasy, forms an alliance against them with other members of the CIA. Believing these Germans are out to destroy the world, Knight knows he has only a few chances to stop them. His son Cosmo, a scientist, operates a paranormal investigation lab in upstate New York, which soon becomes a web to trap the paranormal-loving Nazis before they can annihilate America. Can Hamilton and his son stop the Nazi plot in time, or is it already too late? A brilliant study of good against evil that is filled with larger than life characters and situations, The Cult of the Black Sun proves that when good men do nothing, evil can reign, but when good men stand up to evil and assert their sovereignty, evil will always be conquered. DiToma, who grew up listening to his father talk about the secret sect of the Catholic Church, has said he is fascinated by conspiracy theories, and that he has spent his life trying to determine the truth in all situations. With The Cult of The Black Sun, he has fashioned a book that is as provocative as it is entertaining.Yesterday's Shame: The Atlanta Child Murders Kindle Editionby Cisco Streetlove The Atlanta Child Murders occurred between 1979 and 1981. Wayne Bertram Williams was presented to the public as the most viable suspect. Yet, years after his conviction, more evidence emerged to proved that there was more to the story.Authorities covered up - to the public at large - the existence of a major child pornography and child sex syndicate that was active in Atlanta. More victims were also murdered. And what are the possible ties between the serial slayings in Atlanta, and those in Oakland County Michigan (1976 to 1977) and in the Freeway Phantom case?Yesterday's Shame: The Atlanta Child Murders sheds light on a terrible chapter in America's history...Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-opperman-report--1198501/support.

Charbone Hydrogen has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Michigan's Oakland County Economic Development Department, marking a significant step toward establishing Charbone's inaugural green hydrogen facility in the United States. The significance of this move is underscored by Oakland County's status as a prominent hub for numerous major automotive companies, including world headquarters, North American headquarters, and cutting-edge R&D facilities. Charette elaborated on the multifaceted agreement, emphasizing the benefits it brings to Charbone's ambitious project. The MOU facilitates key aspects of project development, including negotiating with local authorities, aiding in the final site selection process, and providing vital permitting support for activities related to the establishment of Charbone's first U.S.-based hydrogen facility. Additionally, the partnership extends to the development of a regional ecosystem and hub, which will play a pivotal role in driving the success of the venture. Oakland County Economic Development Department will work hand-in-hand with Charbone, alongside other essential stakeholders such as the Detroit Regional Partnership and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation. This collaborative effort is designed to accelerate the realization of Charbone's vision of establishing a network of green hydrogen production facilities across the North American market. Simultaneously, Charbone is actively raising capital, emphasizing the resilience of its management team and a refocused business plan. The funds will support the completion of a project in Quebec, Canada, set to produce green hydrogen by the first semester of 2024. #proactiveinvestors #charbonehydrogencorporation #tsxv #ch #otcqb #chhyf #GreenHydrogen #RenewableEnergy #SustainableTech #CleanEnergy #HydrogenProduction #MichiganProject #EnergyInnovation #HydrogenFuture #DecentralizedEnergy #MidwestBusiness #CleantechInvesting #OaklandCounty #EcoFriendly #CarbonNeutral #RenewableIdeas #InvestmentOpportunity #CleanFuel #EnvironmentalLeadership #GreenTechNews #EnergyTransition #ClimateActionNow #FutureOfMobility #GreenInvesting #SustainableDevelopment #invest #investing #investment #investor #stockmarket #stocks #stock #stockmarketnews

Why are some state's public defense systems so strong while others are so weak?    This week, Hunter speaks for a second time with David Carroll, the Executive Director of the Sixth Amendment Center. David highlights a handful of reports that his organization conducted in an attempt to improve the public defense systems of many different states.   First, David talks about Oakland Michigan, a now strong system because of the Sixth Amendment Center's findings. Then, he'll go into a weaker system—New  Hampshire. Taking you through the ins and outs of this complicated government, you'll learn exactly why change in this state has been so difficult.    Hunter and David end the episode by delving into the Illinois and Lake County, California reports and how the Sixth Amendment has improved the systems in these locations as well.    This episode highlights the fact that systems can still be bad even with well-intentioned individuals at the helm. However, David will instill you with true hope that positive change is on the horizon.   Key Topics/Takeaways:   Qualifications and independence for attorneys in Oakland. [15:53] Attorney compensation in Oakland. [21:45] Recommendations and results in Oakland. [33:20] The structure of indigent defense in New Hampshire. [41:33] Attorney compensation in New Hampshire. [54:04] Non-lawyer prosecuters. [59:19] The nonprofit state public defender and conflict system. [1:07:20] Caseloads in New Hampshire. [1:10:17] Recommendations for New Hampshire. [1:17:23] The Illinois report. [1:24:28] The Lake County, California report. [1:32:21] A 2022 public defense wrap up + David's hope for the future. [1:38:47]   Guest:   David Caroll, Executive Director, Sixth Amendment Center   Resources:   Sixth Amendment Center Reports     Race to the Bottom Michigan    Memorable Quotes:   “Systems in America, whether that be indigent defense or otherwise, do not need to have a bad person running them for them to fail. In fact, it can be even more difficult for well-intentioned people to correct a system that they are responsible for because it is so much harder for them to see past their own good intentions.” (2:40, Hunter)   “People don't even see it anymore. It's ethical blindness right in front of them. And so it takes a group like ours to come in and hold a mirror up and say, no, look at what's actually playing out in all these things.” (24:43, David)   “Now that we've solved the compensation issue, once those plans get implemented and in place, once caseloads can be enforced, I think Michigan's well on the way to being one of the better systems in the country.” (39:28, David)   “I think a lot of people that want criminal justice reform think that criminal justice systems were rationally constructed. Like someone sat down and said, this is the best way to do it for us. And it's absolutely not the case. It's just piecemeal.” (1:08:22, David)   “I am hopeful. I am the eternal optimist. You can't be doing this work for over 25 years and not be hopeful.” (1:39:10, David)   Contact Hunter Parnell: hwparnell@publicdefenseless.com Instagram www.publicdefenseless.com

We all recognize that property can be foreclosed on for failure to pay a tax debt. What happens when the value of the foreclosure is greater than the debt owed? A case out of Michigan, recently appealed to the Sixth Circuit, seeks redress for just such situations. Eight citizens of Oakland County Michigan are suing the county for, among other things, taking property worth far more than the tax debt owed, then not reimbursing them the difference. Is this an illegal taking, or a deprivation of property without due process? Or could it simply be a scheme to defraud both the homeowners and taxpayers of Oakland County?

And she's built this really cool bridge at Magnolia by the Lakes, the gold standard of senior living, a luxury Independent and Assisted Senior Village on the shores of Cass Lake, overlooking Sylvan Lakes in Oakland County Michigan. I think you're going to want to hear about the story about this for sure. As Dr. Bagne states... You know that thing when you look challenge in the eye and you don't blink and you even have a smile on your face. That's what we're going to talk about. So don't miss out. My advice to you again is, number one, belief in yourself and do not have a defeatist attitude. Always remember that race, national origin, gender had nothing to do with business, science, medicine or whatever endeavor you are planning to do. It is not what others think of you. It is what you think of yourself. And with that attitude, believe that you should have that axiom of your life that truly everything happens for the best. And at the moment that disaster happens. You don't know what the best is, but believe that somehow it will be and will become one of the best events of your life unless you follow these three acts and you'll really become successful throughout your life.   Coming up on July 30th is the 7th annual Brady Ware Women's Leadership Conference.  Each year, 100% of the proceeds go to support women initiatives through non profit organizations within Ohio. This year our supporting non profits are the Better Business Bureau and the Women's Small Business Accelerator. Many months ago when we began planning for this year's conference, we felt it best to err on the side of safety, so this year's conference will be held virtually. While this may not be the most ideal situation, it does allow for us to offer participants speakers that are nationally recognized as well as locally recognized women leaders.   We're excited to be able to present keynote speaker, Peggy Klaus, author of 'Brag! How to toot your own horn without blowing it'. We'll start the morning with a lively discussion with a panel of women business owners and leaders. Episode 90 MiCannaCast Cannadave & Groovee talk about the recent experience at GreenHouse of Walled Lake Cannabis kickoff of the Summer event. A new state just joined the adult-use market on the east coast Connecticut. Cannabis company Lume is advertising at a music theater in Mi. All this and more on the latest episode of MiCannaCast GreenHouse Event Greenhouse hosted a cannabis kickoff event with different vendors and brands there. You had Primitiv Brand Calvin Johnson (Megatron) & Rob Sims showcasing the new product and taking photos. For Cannadave it was a dream to meet Megatron, one of his all-time favorite football players and now entered the cannabis space. We did pick up three strains of Primitiv which are Sensi Star, Runtz, and Peanut Butter Breath. Primitiv has flowers available in a couple of locations, definitely check them out, the Runtz was pretty darn good. You also had Darren McCarthy there repping his brand and promoting and taking photos as well too. You could purchase either of these products at GreenHouse which is 21 and up. They had a CBD company and Element Extractions as well too up there. Later in the evening, they had a firework show too, which we didn't stay for but enjoyed a couple of hours there. Shout-out for putting on the event and drawing the cannabis crowd. Connecticut The newest state to join the adult-use market is Connecutire, they're the 19th State. This is great news and exciting because it's the 4th state this year alone to join the adult-use market. They do have some weird cannabis laws drawn up with the legislation. We go into more detail in the episode about the laws. We are starting to inch closer to over half the United States will be an adult-use market 21 and up can consume cannabis. Lume Cannabis Lume Cannabis just inked a deal with DTE Music Theater out in Oakland County Michigan. We have been to Lume cannabis before and it wasn't our favorite spot. It's cool to see the advertising come mainstream because it's just not billboards or social media now, it's entire concert venues. We hope with this happening the legislation doesn't continue to bring up the cannabis billboard ban. Therefore cannabis companies should be able to advertise there as well as concert venues. If you can advertise at a venue you should be able to do a billboard. It will be interesting to see where else the cannabis community will be able to advertise in the future. The Bonfires of Social Enterprise with Romy of Gingras Global | Social Enterprise | Entrepreneurship in Detroit

Ginny Fischbach of Impact100 on Impact Investing Inglenook Romy interviews the founder of Impact 100 Oakland County (Michigan), Ginny Fischbach. What happens when 100 women put $1000 each together for a community good? http://bonfiresofsocialenterprise.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/Impact_directors.jpg ()    Full transcription Romy: Welcome to the Impact Investing Inglenook of Bonfires of Social Enterprise. You will meet Ginny Fischbach of a women’s funding group named Impact 100. Now there are Impact 100 groups all over the world. You will learn more about these groups in just one minute. First, I want to give a shout out to our listeners and fans in Australia. I want to thank you for your support of our show. And, I know you guys have an Impact 100 group! Very cool. Okay, let me turn our attention to my interview with Ginny Romy: Welcome, Ginny. Ginny: Well, thank you, glad to be here. Romy: I’m excited to interview you for our Impact Investing segment of Bonfires of Social Enterprise. Let’s jump right to it, what is Impact100? Ginny: Well, Impact100 is you get a group of women, and you try for a hundred or more women, each woman gives a thousand dollars, donates a thousand dollars, and then we turn that into a one hundred thousand dollar grant for some local nonprofit. If we get more members, of course, the grants get bigger. It started in Cincinnati in 2001, the first Impact100. A lady by the name of Wendy Steele, who now lives in Michigan. She started a group of one hundred in Cincinnati. She had heard of giving circles and stuff and thought it was a great idea to pool money but at a larger scale. She got a hundred women and gave out a hundred thousand dollar grant, and it’s been growing ever since then. Cincinnati now has almost five hundred members, so they’re giving close to half a million dollars out a year in grants, which is just awesome. Romy: Oh my gosh, yes. Ginny: They’ve made a huge impact on that city, and they’re really active. It’s grown now to thirty-six chapters around the world, thirty of which are in the US and six in Australia, over four hundred thousand members around the country which are really pretty cool. It’s very, also, a loose organization so we’re not paying dues into a national organization of any kind, it’s just everybody helps each other to do their own thing in their area. You can modify the processes and stuff to fit your local area, to make it work for you, so it’s really pretty exciting. Romy: That’s incredibly exciting. I love anything that has to do with a village coming around an idea, sourcing, lots of resources. You get a lot of people together, and you can really make a huge impact. Is that where the name came from or is there a history of the name? Ginny: Exactly. She named it Impact100 thinking, “If I get a hundred women, I can make a huge impact. If we pool our money we can make a huge impact on a community.” That’s where the name came from, which is pretty exciting. Romy: When did Oakland County’s begin? Ginny: Well, we just started this year. This is our first year, so we’re really excited. We started getting members first of the year, we got our 501(c)(3) from the IRS in November, I think it was, so right after the holidays we started. In about six months we were able to find a hundred women, so we know there’s a lot of women who want to give in the community. We have a lot of areas we haven’t even reached in Oakland County, yet so I think we can get a lot more members real soon. We just started and if we want to talk about why we started? I have a home down in Fairhope, Alabama, and it’s in Baldwin County. There’s an organization down there, an Impact100 organization, that now has almost five hundred members, so they’re giving out close to half a million dollars a year in the area. The women down...

KIDS REFUSE TO SEE DAD? SEND ‘EM TO JAIL, ACCORDING TO ONE JUDGE Juvenile detention facilities are for the junior criminals in our society, right? A place to send the bad kids who are too young for prison, you might assume.  But what if you knew of three nice kids, good in school, never in any trouble, who got sent to kiddie jail because they refused to meet with the father they say is abusive? That’s what happened to three Michigan youngsters, 15, 10, and 9 when a judge said they were in contempt of court for not spending time with the dad the kids say was violent. The judge, however, said the father was a great man, and sentenced the children to a facility until they changed their minds about seeing him.  And by the way, the judge ordered the kids be kept apart, and prohibited their mother from seeing them. Investigative journalist Michael Volpe's work has been in publications from the Washington Examiner, Crime Magazine, and numerous others.  He has published articles on family court in six different media sources including simultaneous investigations in Rockland County New York, Oakland County Michigan, and in Connecticut. He's the author of three books- Prosecutors Gone Wild, The Definitive Dossier of PTSD in Whistleblowers, and Bullied to Death: Chris Mackney's Kafkaesque Divorce. He investigated the Michigan case, and will fill us in on their situation, whether it is truly unusual, and how and why a judge makes such decisions.  Find out what has transpired for these kids and their mother since their sentencing.
