Self-Worth and Leadership: "You will never value you like you. Nobody will value you like you." - Betty CollinsI'm so excited to bring you part two of our Visionary Awards series, an episode all about what it means to be a visionary, or to support one, in today's ever-changing world.I'm joined once again by two incredible guests: Jill Frey and Purba Majumbder, women who are not only visionaries themselves but who have also been deeply impacted by the women who've supported their journeys. In this conversation, we dig into how Jill and Purba stay ahead of industry trends, embrace new technologies like robotics and AI, and make a real difference through projects such as STEM programs for girls. We get honest about the challenges along the way—from navigating self-doubt and skepticism to keeping up with rapid change. And we don't shy away from the truth: sometimes, your biggest obstacle is your own mindset. In this episode, I share my journey, how I learned to step into my role as a visionary leader, often with the help and encouragement of others who saw more in me than I saw in myself. Together, we swap stories, lessons, and practical advice for anyone who wants to pursue a big idea, empower others, or make a lasting impact.Inspiring Moments00:00 "Smart Buildings & Sustainability Goals"03:40 Visionaries and The Future of Robotics07:12 "Finding My Own Vision"12:36 "Inspiring Girls in STEM"16:02 Launching the Women's Initiative17:40 "Challenges of Being a Visionary"21:55 Hybrid Work Revolution Unfolds25:55 Empowering Women in Swift Tech26:42 Tech's Fast-Paced Adaptation Challenge30:56 Empowering Leadership and Influence35:51 Building Confidence and Realizing Potential38:55 Supporting Visionaries and Helping OthersHere are my top 3 takeaways:Embrace Fearlessness & ResilienceBoth Jill and Purba stress the importance of believing in yourself, especially on tough days. The Power of Teamwork in Achieving a Vision: "Both roles are as important as the other, because if the visionary has to do everything herself or himself, they're probably not going to make it happen." - Betty CollinsI'm so excited to bring you part one of our special Visionary Awards series, where we honor incredible women who have scaled their businesses and brought their visions to life. Today, I'm joined by two outstanding guests—Jill Frey, president and CEO of Cummins Facility Services, and Purba Majumder, an inspiring immigrant founder and CEO of Cybervation Inc., both of whom were finalists alongside me for the NAWBO Columbus Visionary Award. In this episode, we share our personal stories about what it really takes to scale a company, the winding journey of becoming a visionary, and why the people who support us along the way are just as important as the vision itself. We open up about our challenges, our proudest moments, and the vital roles of those who stand beside us—whether they're cheering us on, pouring into our growth, or simply helping us keep going. If you're a woman in business—whether you see yourself as a visionary or you're the one making things happen behind the scenes—there's something here for you. Join us for honest conversations, practical wisdom, and a big dose of inspiration from women who understand what it takes. Steady, thoughtful scaling, supported by a strong team, is the sustainable path forward.Visionaries aren't alone: Whether you are the one with the big dream, or the one who supports that dream, both roles are vital. Community, mentors, and even those who “put up with” your quirks help turn vision into reality.Celebrating and elevating others multiplies impact: The stories from the NAWBO Visionary Awards remind me how group celebrations, meaningful connections, and championing others' successes fuel long-term growth for all.Forward our podcast along to other Inspiring Women in your life. This is THE podcast that advances women toward economic, social, and political achievement. Born in Skiatook, Oklahoma, Wena Supernaw spent much of her early life on the move with her parents, who she credits for the tenacity and commitment that Wena has demonstrated over her long career. Graduating from George Mason University with a Bachelor's in Accounting, Supernaw took graduate courses at both Virginia Tech and the University of Texas before opting to test her mettle in the world of business finance. The bulk of Wena's career was spent as the Vice President of MetLife, where she led teams embroiled in budgeting, investments, communications, contract negotiations, and more. After over 30 years in an incredibly technical and nuanced field, Wena retired and pursued public service with the Quapaw Nation. She has been elected to several committees, and currently serves as Vice Chairperson on the Inter-Tribal Council and as the QN Business Committee Chair, where she applies her experience to ensure the economic wellbeing of her people. Aware of how every great accomplishment is made on the shoulders of our ancestors, Wena Supernaw gets out of bed every morning asking herself what she can do to uplift those who follow in her footsteps.

Satisfaction the Privileges Committee stood its ground over Te Pati Māori's viral haka in Parliament. The harshest sanctions in Parliament's history have been handed down, with co-leaders Debbie Ngarewa-Packer and Rawiri Waititi suspended for 21 days. Hana-Rawhiti Maipi-Clarke's been suspended for seven. Privileges Committee Chair Judith Collins told Mike Hosking the committee was almost universally appalled by the demonstration and six months' worth of hearings. She says the committee's work was worth it, and it's about time Parliament realised the public is appalled by the antics. LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The chair of the Privileges Committee wants Labour's Leader to apologise. Chris Hipkins told TVNZ Judith Collins had publicly condemned “uncivilised behaviour from indigenous people” in relation to Te Pati Māori's actions. Judith Collins told Mike Hosking she never said that. She says it's entirely wrong for him to have said that, and she's called on him to apologise and apparently he's going to think about it. Parliament's Privileges Committee is recommending the harshest ever punishment for Te Pāti Māori's co-leaders, following last year's protest haka in the House. Committee chair Judith Collins spoke to Corin Dann.
Judith Collins calls for “civility” in Parliament after suspending three MPs and attacks on female MPs. Collins praised Act MP Brooke van Velden for standing up for herself after using the c-word. Te Pāti Māori co-leaders Debbie Ngarewa-Packer and Rawiri Waititi face 21-day suspensions without pay. Parliament Privileges Committee chair Judith Collins is calling for “civility” in the House after the decision to suspend three MPs without pay and attacks on female MPs. Collins said she was proud of Act MP Brooke van Velden for “standing up for herself” yesterday when she stirred major controversy by using the c-word in the House while attacking Labour for not condemning a column that used the word “c***” against female ministers. Yesterday, her committee's decision was handed down to three Te Pāti Māori MPs after last year's controversial haka. The committee recommended 21-day suspensions for co-leaders Debbie Ngarewa-Packer and Rawiri Waititi, saying they should be “severely censured”. Te Pāti Māori co-leaders Rawiri Waititi and Debbie Ngarewa-Packer face a heavy censure. It also recommended a seven-day suspension for MP Hana-Rāwhiti Maipi-Clarke. Collins told Newstalk ZB's Mike Hosking this morning the suspension also meant the MPs would go without pay during this time. She confirmed the suspension would be carried out consecutively. Collins said the committee had been “collegial” through the six-month-long process and only butted heads in the end when it came to handing down the penalties. “Even [the Green Party and the Labour Party] are differing from each other. “It's a very severe penalty compared to what has been awarded in the past, it's not only a suspension from the House, it's a suspension of salary. “But then, we haven't seen that level of behaviour before.” She said the committee's decision would be tabled today before it was voted for on Tuesday. She said she expected it to pass. On Brooke van Velden's use of the c-bomb in the House yesterday, Collins said she was proud of the Act MP for standing up for herself and the other women in the House being attacked. “I would say to Brooke, that I wouldn't have used the word myself but I did feel that she did stand up for herself and all the rest of us and I am waiting for someone of the left persuasion… one MP, just one, to come out and say it's not okay to attack someone just because you are not okay with what they do." She called reading the language in the column, which was written by Andrea Vance and published in the Sunday Star-Times, one of the “lowest points” in Parliament she has seen in her 23 years of service. “That and what happened on the 14th of November in Parliament. “It's just the sort of behaviour towards each other that is despicable.” LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
The final budget approved by Missouri lawmakers on Friday did not include $500-million in construction projects across the state. House Budget Committee chairman Dirk Deaton (R-Noel) says it purely was a financial decision. Missouri Senate Appropriations Committee chairman Lincoln Hough (R-Springfield) joined us live on "Wake Up Missouri" and says Chairman Deaton didn't inform state senators about the decision. Chairman Hough says the decision will make getting other bills approved during the final week of the 2025 session that much tougher. Chairman Hough says he's received messages of frustration from Missouri House and Senate colleagues over the House decision. He says $50-million for Mizzou's second research reactor that battles cancer is now not funded, along with repairs at the Dent County sheltered workshop and at a foster care building in Bates County:

My guest this week is someone whose career path may not be linear, but it's been anything but boring. Jason Chebib started out in some of London's top ad agencies, including Ogilvy, Publicis, J. Walter Thompson, and BBDO, where he worked alongside CMOs and future CMOs at brands like Shell, Unilever, Dyson, Mars, and Ford. Then came a pivot—from creating campaigns to teaching the science behind them. Jason traveled the world, training the next generation of marketers in what actually works when it comes to growing brands. Eventually, he jumped back into the deep end—this time client-side at Diageo. First in Amsterdam, working on global strategy for Johnnie Walker, and then in New York as Head of Planning for Diageo North America, where he shaped the future of brands like Smirnoff, Baileys, Guinness, and Captain Morgan. Now fully rooted in the U.S., Jason has worn many hats—from advising agencies to serving as Committee Chair of Agency Relations at the ANA and Co-Chair of the Marketing Society in New York. He brings the kind of perspective that only comes from being deep in the trenches: agency, client, strategy, research, and education. And while he's not one to chase titles, let's just say his next chapter is wide open—and any brand would be lucky to have him. I am proud to call him my friend, my confidant, my mentor: Jason Chebib.

The Government has unveiled a new Northern Expressway that goes over Northland's Brynderwyn Hills rather than around. It's released its planned route for Northern Expressway taking it from Warkworth east of State Highway one, over the hills to the east of the current route, then through Whangarei. This comes instead of a proposed bypass to the west. Northland Regional Council Transport Committee Chair Joe Carr has voiced support for this move. Calm before the storm for Auckland's flood-risk communities as the council takes action. It'll buy more than 1200 high risk homes by the end of the year, at a cost of $352 million. A large chunk of the land will be retained for flood resilience and safer areas will be sold for development. Auckland Council Policy and Planning Committee Chair Richard Hills told Mike Hosking it's going to be a long road. He says people will find it hard seeing houses removed from the street they live on. The Council has also acknowledged the time it's taken to take action on flood risk areas. Hills says he hoped it would be a faster process. He told Hosking homeowners could apply to be categorised for most of last year, and then needed individual assessments. LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

In this interview we recorded at COP29, Professor Hugh Hunt speaks with UK Climate Change Committee Chair, Piers Forster. [Order 'COPOUT - How governments have failed the people on climate' by Nick Breeze] Piers clearly asserts that Carbon Capture and Storage technologies (CCS), that are forecast to remove emissions from so-called hard-to-abate sectors like aviation and steel, will not be enough to offset the damage causing carbon pollution. Whether CCS is viable at any meaningful scale remains highly uncertain. At a time when global heating is accelerating and the destructive impacts, such as fires and floods, are making much of the planet uninsurable, phasing out fossil fuels and reducing carbon pollution has never been a more serious issue. Forster also responds to questions related to Al Gore calling CCS a fraud and whether the UK is anywhere near prepared for the more extreme climate impacts that are coming towards us. The UK must take phasing out fossil fuels and protecting nature seriously, to send a signal that we are truly out of the extractive and destructive 20th century mindset that has become an existential threat. Thanks for listening. Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) in UK Decarbonisation Piers Forster confirmed that CCS plays a role in the UK's net-zero strategy, particularly for difficult-to-decarbonise industries and sectors like aviation, which faces major challenges in reducing emissions. He emphasised that "you can't get there all the way with carbon capture and storage," making it clear that reducing emissions must remain the priority. The UK government has earmarked £22 billion for CCS over 25 years, mainly to support two industrial clusters, ensuring a "just transition" without shutting down key industries like Port Talbot and Grangemouth. Response to Al Gore's Accusation that CCS “… is a fraud!” When asked about Al Gore calling CCS a "fraud," Forster acknowledged concerns, stating, "it depends on the context." He explained that CCS should not be used to justify fossil fuel expansion but should be reserved for sectors with no viable alternatives. "As soon as you say you want to use it for generating electricity, that's not a good use of it at all," he said, advocating for renewables like wind and solar instead. UK Preparedness for Extreme Weather Forster was clear about the UK's lack of readiness: "We are absolutely not prepared. We should be. We are encouraging the government to really think about climate resilience, just as it thinks about reducing its emissions.” He stressed the need for urgent action to protect infrastructure, homes, and lives from increasing climate risks.
