April 24, 2025Hello and Happy Day! This is Dr. MaryAnn Diorio, Novelist and Story Coach, welcoming you to another episode of Winning with the Word. Today is Thursday, April 24, 2025, and this is episode #4 in Series 2025. This episode is titled, “Do You Know Who You Are?"Let me ask the question again. Do You know who you are?You may be thinking, What a ridiculous question! Of course, I know who I am. I'm an accountant. Or, I'm a plumber. Or, I'm an electrician. Or, I'm a lawyer. Or, I'm a teacher. Or, I'm a basketball coach. Or, I'm the CEO of XYZ Company. Or, I'm a mom. Or, I'm a grandfather—and on and on and on it can go.But let me ask you a question: Is that who you really are? What if your career were suddenly stripped from you? What if, God forbid, your family and friends were suddenly taken from you? Who would you be then?Have you ever considered this profound question? If not, I would urge you to do so. For you see, who you believe you are is at the very foundation of your purpose on this earth. Who you believe yourself to be will determine your path in life, and whether that path takes you to fulfillment or to destruction, to life or to death.Sadly, most of us grow up with the idea that we will discover our identity in our job or career. And so, we plod along, year after year, until one day we realize that, despite the outward success, we feel empty on the inside. As a Life Coach, I have had numerous clients over the years come to me in their forties and fifties, admitting that the career they thought would satisfy them never did. In almost every single case, the client discovered that he was not living in God's purpose for his life, but in his own.Recently, I have been discipling my three teenage granddaughters using the outstanding Lifeway Bible study titled Defined. It was created by the Kendrick Brothers, producers of several powerful Christian movies, including The Overcomer. (As an aside, if you haven't seen The Overcomer, I urge you to do so.) In the Defined series for Girls, author and Bible teacher Priscilla Shirer discusses the topic of identity with a group of young women who face the identity struggle all of us face at some point in life. You, too, may be struggling to know who you are and why you're here on this earth. You, too, may be wondering how to discover who you really are. If so, stay with me until the end of this podcast. I'm going to give you some insights you may never have considered before in your journey toward discovering who you really are. Now, hear what I'm going to say next because it is a game-changer. There is only one way to discover who you truly are, and that is by turning to God for the answer. I'm going to repeat that because it's critically important: There is only one way to discover who you truly are, and that is by turning to God for the answer. Now, before you get upset with me, consider these four points, taken from the Defined study:1_God made you. Only the one who made something can define what it is. If you create something—let's say a work of art or a tool of some sort—only you have the right to say what it is.2_God owns you. He purchased you with the greatest price of all, the Blood of His Son Jesus Christ. If you purchase something, it's yours and only you have the right to do with it what you choose.3_God has authority over you. Only the creator of something has authority over his creation. Only the creator of something can determine the purpose for which he created it. Since God created you, He alone can determine your purpose. Only you have authority over something you create.4_ God knows you better than anyone knows you, even you yourself. Because God made you, no one knows you better than He does. So no one else has the right to tell you who you are. If you create a painting, no one besides you has the right to tell you what the painting means. Now, considering these four points, doesn't it make sense then that God alone can tell you who you are?

Are you ready for a change or to live your best life? Maybe God is signaling to you it's time for a shift. A new life coach is ready to help you prepare and organize with a strategy. Quadasia (Dasi) Love wears a lot of other hats too: international chaplain, model and actress, and a prophet at her church (through the fivefold ministry) that's focused on unity and going soon to Zambia. (3:15) Dasi Love kicks us off on this podcast episode with insight on how faith impacts big life changes for us, like God's call and tools to do special things vs. bad habits and the world's distractions. There are plans that need to be made over the course of months, part of her life coaching called "My Kairos Time" (greek for due season): https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61571592010474. (8:40) Time management is huge for a lot of us. Time to eliminate excuses. And when do you know to make that sometimes-scary change in your life? Dasi says "God can't be through you what He isn't to you." She went from being a pre-med Biology major in college and a future Dr. Love....to a real relationship with Jesus, attending seminary and becoming a Chaplain for Dunamis International Chaplains. This young woman is (19:03) also an actress and model who won't comprise on certain photo/video shoots. She was the stand-in and running double for the main actress in the Kendrick Brothers' popular film "Overcomer." (25:35) Dasi also loves to discuss what true unity looks like, in and out of the church. She's learned a lot from her job as a chaplain - going where they're needed! (32:50) One more hat she wears is as a prophet top make sure others are in alignment with the Word of God, not as a "fortune teller." This is part of the Christian concept of fivefold ministry - 5 roles to serve the church in different ways. Satan can also pervert those roles or what's in the Bible. What can also get in the way of those gifts are pride, churches' fear of criticism, denomination differences, pastors not held accountable). (44:33) Along with fundraising for a Fall 2025 trip to Zambia, Dasi Love also has partnered with pastors to help persecuted believes in the Islamic state of Pakistan. She explains...then closes our episode out in prayer. Thanks for listening to the #RunTheRace podcast, which I hope you'll subscribe to! Share it with your friends. It's Tuesday, January 7th, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Kevin Swanson Islam is the number one threat to Christians today International Christian Concern has issued their Global Persecution Index for 2024 — placing the countries of Nigeria,Niger, Sudan, Congo, Eritrea, Somalia, Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and North Korea at the highest level “where Christians are regularly tortured and killed for their faith.” Each of these, except North Korea, is an Islamic country. As an ideology, Islam has replaced communism as the most serious threat to Christians in the world. Abortion is leading cause of death worldwide Referring to data from Worldometer, Breitbart News announced that abortion was the leading cause of deaths in 2024. A record of 45 million babies died at this count. That compares to 8.2 million people who died from cancer, 5 million from smoking, 1.7 million from HIV/AIDS, 1.35 million from traffic fatalities, and 1.1 million people died from suicide. Kamala Harris certifies Trump's presidential victory Here in the United States, the November presidential election results were certified by the U.S. Senate on Monday, reports NBC News. Ironically, Vice President Kamala Harris, the presidential loser, had the unenviable task as President of the Senate of certifying that her opponent, Donald Trump, won the election in a landslide. Trump is set to become the 47th President of the United States come January 20th. Notice that when she announces Trump's name the Republicans burst out in a cheer and a standing ovation. Not to be outdone, the Democrats applaud Kamala when she announces her electoral vote total. Listen. HARRIS: “The state of the vote for the president of the United States, as delivered to the President of the Senate, is as follows. The whole number of the electors appointed to vote for President of the United States is 538. Within that whole number, the majority is 270. “The votes for president of the United States are as follows: Donald J. Trump of the state of Florida, has received 312 votes. Kamala D. Harris…” (Republicans applaud) (Harris bangs the gavel twice) HARRIS: “Kamala D. Harris of the state of California has received 226 votes.” (Democrats applaud) Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau resigns After months of abysmal polling predicting a massive Conservative victory in the fall 2025 Canadian presidential election, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced yesterday that he intends to resign as Prime minister and leader of the Liberal Party, reports Reuters. TRUDEAU: “I intend to resign as party leader as prime minister after the party selects its next leader through a robust, nationwide competitive process. Last night, I asked the president of the Liberal Party to begin that process. This country deserves a real choice in the next election, and it has become clear to me that if I am having to fight internal battles, I cannot be the best option in that election.” Trudeau, age 53, took office in November 2015 with a message of hope and "sunny ways" and won re-election twice, becoming one of Canada's longest-serving prime ministers and winning plaudits from liberals for his focus on gender parity policies. Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre, who is running for Prime Minister, offered this reaction. POILIEVRE: “Canadians desperate to turn the page on this dark chapter in our history might be relieved today that Justin Trudeau is finally leaving. But what has really changed? Every liberal [Member of Parliament] in power today and every potential liberal leadership contender, fighting for the top job, helped Justin Trudeau break the country over the last nine years. “All liberal politicians actively worked to pass into law the job-killing, inflationary carbon tax, a tax that Carbon Tax [Mark] Carney endorsed in his book. All supported a law quadrupling the tax over the next five years. All voted for or actively supported Trudeau's out-of-control spending, debt, and immigration. All passed Trudeau's housing policies that doubled the cost of homes. All liberal politicians helped pass catch-and-release bail and house arrest for the most rampant re-offenders, policies that increased violent crime 50%, gun crime 116%, and hate crime by 250%. “So, given that liberal [Members of Parliament] and leadership contenders unanimously supported everything Trudeau has done, why dump him now, right before an election? “Have they had a change of heart? Is it because they feel guilty that they doubled housing costs, hiked taxes, unleashed crime, broke immigration, forced a quarter of the population into poverty? No! They continued supporting Trudeau when he did all of those things. No, their only objection is that he is no longer popular enough to win an election and keep them in power.” Biden awards evolutionists, socialists and God-haters Evolutionists, socialists, and opponents of Christianity received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Joe Biden, as he prepared to leave office, reports USA Today. Jane Goodall and Bill Nye, the Evolutionist Guy, received the award. Also receiving the top citizen award included Hillary Clinton and George Soros, the man responsible for persecuting Christians and conservatives through Right Wing Watch and People for the American Way. Proverbs 28:4 reminds us that “Those who forsake the law praise the wicked, but such as keep the law contend with them.” Massive snow storm cancels 1,300 flights That massive snow storm across Kansas and eastern states, has closed down flights. In God's providence, over 1,300 flights were cancelled. Manhattan, Kansas was blanketed with 15 inches of snow, the second highest snowfall in history for the city. 6 states stockpile Abortion Kill Pills Some states are collecting bullets, or rather Abortion Kill Pills, to murder as many babies as possible. The Center for American Progress has announced that six states have stockpiled at least 2.25 million abortion pills in case the new Trump administration moves to restrict the distribution of these murderous devices. The six states are California, Oregon, Washington, New York, Massachusetts, and Maryland. TV viewership is down The cable news channels are languishing. Fox News Channel averaged 2.4 million viewers during primetime last year — compared to CNN's 685,000 and MSNBC's 1.5 million. The big three networks -- ABC, CBS, and NBC -- claimed 13 million viewers during primetime hours in 2024, representing an increase of about 10% from 2023, but down from 21 million viewers seven years ago. Golden Globes honors 2 movie flops on transgendering and rape And finally, The Golden Globes lavished their awards over the weekend -- this time upon a film centered around the theme of transgendering a male, reports the Associated Press. The R-rated movie “Emilia Perez” received four awards, but the film never played in American theaters —and only took in $9 million worldwide. That compares to the Kendrick Brothers' Christian film “The Forge” released last year — which earned over $40 million in worldwide box office receipts! Another unknown film “The Brutalist” took home three major awards, but barely made $1 million in the box office. The film lived up to its name with ample scenes of rape, nudity, vile language, homosexuality, and drug use. Indeed, in the words of 1 John 2:17, Hollywood and “the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Tuesday, January 7th, in the year of our Lord 2025. In this episode, award-winning actor and speaker Cameron Arnett shares his story of choosing Jesus over Hollywood and how that decision shaped his future. Tune in to discover key principles for staying strong in your faith, doing “Satan checks” when your marriage is under attack, and trusting God to fulfill His promises. Key Takeaways It is through faith and patience that you inherit the promises of God. Do a “Satan Check” when you feel attacks on your marriage. Put Christ over everything you think is your sustaining power, including your career. Make the Bible and the Holy Spirit your foundation for being a man, a husband, and a father. Ground Zero is about knowing who you are based on what the King has said about you. Cameron Arnett Cameron Arnett is an award-winning actor, director, producer, and speaker. He's well known for his appearances in Miami Vice, Star Trek: The Next Generation, and films including the Kendrick Brothers' The Forge. Cameron has been married to his wife, BJ, for nearly three decades. Key Quotes 12:50 - "The thing for dads to understand is that you don't lose your footing. You don't lose your validity, your power, your strength by being playful. As a matter of fact, if you have that as your foundation, the time when you have to be a disciplinarian, the time that you have to lay down the law, whatever it may be, it's wrapped around the Abba side. The jump into your lap side, the knowing that regardless of the correction that needs to be made, it's made behind and surrounded with a love that is caressing." 37:11 - "Christ Over Career is calling the Church back to the Lord, and keeping him at the helm of every decision. That's our mantra, that's our mission, our purpose, our everything, is to reintroduce the Church to the King. And then ground zero begins, unraveling happens. If you remain and allow Him to continue to unravel through life, He begins to put [it back] together. And when He puts together, he does it fast. As long as you don't make new decisions, that puts you ten steps back." THE FORGE, the newest Christian movie from the Kendrick Brothers, is a powerful illustration and reminder that discipleship matters! Guest host Adam McManus interviews Alex Kendrick, the co-writer and director of the film, which has already made $27 million domestically since August 23rd. At its height, THE FORGE was shown in 1,900 theaters. Still in 700 theaters today, go to the website www.TheForgeMovie.com to find out where it is playing near you. In the film, Isaiah Wright, played by Aspen Kennedy, has some growing up to do. A year out of high school with no plans for his future, Isaiah is challenged by his single mom and a successful businessman to start charting a better course for his life. Through the Biblical discipleship from his new mentor, prayers of his mother and a prayer warrior named Miss Clara, Isaiah begins to discover God's purpose for his life. Most Bible-believing Christians know the Great Commission by memory. It records the last words of Jesus during His earthly ministry found in Mathew 28:18-20. Jesus said, “All authority in Heaven and on Earth has been given to Me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Notice it doesn't say, “Go and make converts.” While the movie inspires Christians to make disciples, their companion book, Devoted To Jesus, equips believers to disciple others by working through the 52 short chapters in 52 weeks with anyone who needs to grow in faith. Like the special ceremony for young men in THE FORGE, McManus shares the story of the special Manhood Celebration ceremony he organized for his son Honor's 13th birthday. Much like the Jewish families launch their sons into adulthood through a bar mitzvah, McManus believes Evangelical parents should be more intentional. Rob Dempsey, Morning Show Host of His Radio, said, “THE FORGE masterfully weaves together themes of forgiveness, mentorship, and the hope of the Gospel, creating an entertaining and impactful film that leaves a lasting impression.” Watch the trailer of THE FORGE. Author of one of my top reads of the year, June Bug, Chris Fabry is also the novelist for the Kendrick Brothers' beloved movies including the most recent, The Forge. Listen in as we discuss the story and the process of writing from a screenplay! note: links may be affiliate links that provide me with a small commission at no extra expense to you. Chis Fabry, author of so many beloved novels and the podcaster behind Moody's Chris Fabry Live, has teamed up with the Kendrick Brothers again to bring the book version of the story to readers. I loved chatting about the themes within the book, the process of writing it, and what we might see in the future. The Forge by Chris Fabry As Cynthia Wright's marriage implodes, she is forced to raise her teenage son, Isaiah, alone. The pressure of providing for them through her salon is a full-time job in itself. When Cynthia sees Isaiah pulling away and escaping into video games, tensions rise and prayers feel unanswered. Angry and hurt, Isaiah starts acting like the father who abandoned him, and Cynthia gives him an ultimatum while turning to her twin sister, Elizabeth Jordan, for support. Elizabeth enlists a seasoned prayer warrior who challenges Cynthia to pray boldly and believe God for the impossible. Caught in the middle, Isaiah longs for respect, but sees no clear path to becoming a good man. Desperate for a job, he wanders into Moore Fitness, Inc. and encounters the owner, Joshua Moore, who introduces him to the concept of working for a coach rather than a boss. Needing the work, Isaiah reluctantly begins his mentoring process with Joshua. While Cynthia clings to hope, no one sees the coming storms brewing at the company and in Isaiah's heart. The Forge is about the power of prayer, the transformation only God can achieve, and the lasting influence one person can have on others. You can learn more about Chris Fabry on his WEBSITE. It's Tuesday, September 3rd, A.D. 2024. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Kevin Swanson Nicaragua bans another 92 religious groups Daniel Ortega's government has cancelled legal recognition of another 92 religious organizations in Nicaragua. It's all part of a cancellation of 1,651 civil social organizations. That brings to a total of 5,552 organizations that have been blackballed by the Nicaraguan government. Of the most recent cancellations, most prominent are the Episcopal Church of Nicaragua, which has had a presence in the region since 1612, and the Moravian Church of Nicaragua, which was established in 1847. And, to add insult to injury, the Ortega government has announced they will be taxing churches of their monies received from tithes and offerings, at a rate of 10 to 30%, according to La Prensa. In fact, La Prensa itself lost its facilities to the government in 2022, and 135 reporters have been in exile since then. Mexico, Syria, and Pakistan: Top 3 most dangerous for journalists The nation where it is most dangerous to work in journalism is Mexico, followed by Syria, Pakistan, Yemen, and the Congo. That's according to a recent report from Reporters Without Borders. Denmark and Norway eager to kill more babies Both Denmark and Norway are allowing for more killing of babies, by liberalizing their abortion laws this year. They have legalized abortion to 18 weeks of pregnancy, up from 12 weeks. However, Parliament has still to vote on the Norwegian proposal. According to a report from the Council on Foreign Relations, “Since 2020, Argentina and Thailand legalized abortions, with certain gestational limits; South Korea decriminalized abortion; and New Zealand eased its abortion restrictions. … Colombia has made abortion legal on demand up to twenty-four weeks of pregnancy, and Mexico decriminalized abortion as well. Only Honduras, Poland, and the United States have contemplated more restrictions on abortion of late.” Psalm 46:6-7 says, “The nations rage, the kingdoms totter; He utters His voice, the Earth melts. The Lord of Hosts is with us. The God of Jacob is our refuge.” Chinese stock hit another low The Chinese Shanghai Stock Index has hit another low, representing a downward trend since May 2021. The far east markets have failed to improve any since 2006. Vermont schools bans use of terms: “Sons and daughters” The Vermont Department of Health has issues guidelines, advising public school teachers not to use terms like “Sons and Daughters,” but to prefer gender-neutral terms like kids or children. African Methodist Episcopalians demanding reparations The African Methodist Episcopal denomination is demanding reparations for sins committed by previous generations against African immigrants. The meeting of 15,000 delegates and observers also received video greetings from President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. The denomination voted down an initiative to legitimize homosexual marriage — and remanded the matter back to committee. God's law, as stated in Ezekiel 18:20, reminds us that, “The soul who sins shall die. The son shall not suffer for the iniquity of the father, nor the father suffer for the iniquity of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself.” Ford, Lowe's Tractor Supply Co, & Harley Davidson renounce DEI Big business is getting cold feet on the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion programs. So far, Ford Motor Company, Lowe's, John Deere, Tractor Supply Co., and Harley Davidson have changed their approaches to DEI policies. More companies are backing away from participating in the pro-homosexual Human Rights Campaign's Corporate Equality Index. 68% of Evangelicals plan to vote for Trump A recent Deseret/HarrisX poll found that 51% of Christians and 68% of Evangelicals are planning on voting for Donald Trump in the upcoming election — that despite Trump's announcement he would oppose a federal abortion ban. Separately, a Washington Post-ABC-Ipsos poll found that 78% of white Evangelicals are planning to vote for Donald Trump this November. That compares to 76% of white Evangelicals voting for Trump in the 2020 election, according to Gallup polling. The HarrisX poll found Catholics are split exactly 46% to 46% on Trump and Harris in the upcoming election. Reagan movie beloved by moviegoers but despised by liberal critics And finally, Reagan, the new film starring Dennis Quaid as the 40th president, was released over Labor Day weekend. It nearly doubled expectations at the box office, bringing in $9.2 million in total. The film set the record for the largest disparity between an audience score and the critics score. The critics savaged the film with an average Rotten Tomatoes rating of 20%. Meanwhile, the audience scored the film at a 98% approval rating. My kids and I saw it this past Saturday in San Antonio, Texas along with three friends. It was an inspiring and touching film. I recommend it highly. Watch the Reagan trailer and get tickets at www.Reagan.movie. The Boondock Saints movie, released in 2000, produced a 65% divide between critics and audience scores. And the Kendrick Brothers' movie Facing the Giants, released in 2006, produced a 69% divide between critics and audience scores. It's Tuesday, August 27th, A.D. 2024. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Kevin Swanson Muslim jihadists pressure Pakistani Supreme Court to reverse course Fearing threats from Islamist jihadists, the Pakistani Supreme Court reversed a ruling that would have recognized religious freedom for sects of Islamic groups as well as Christians within the country, reports Morning Star News. Radical jihadists had placed a bounty of $36,000 on the head of a Pakistani Supreme Court justice. For the first time in history, the high court ordered a second review of a decision, resulting in the exclusion of certain paragraphs from the verdict including a reference to freedom of religion, and “asserting that the deleted portions cannot be cited as precedent in any judgment.” The Church of Pakistan President Bishop Azad Marshall told Morning Star News that, “We were not expecting the Supreme Court to capitulate to extremist forces in this manner. When the highest court of the country fails to protect the guarantees given by the constitution regarding religious freedom for all citizens irrespective of their faith affiliations, there is no hope left for any improvement in our situation.” Russia launched 100 missiles against Ukraine Russia's military launched a full-scale missile bombardment upon Ukraine yesterday, in one of the most widespread air attacks since the war began, reports The Associated Press. They shot over 100 missiles, targeting Kyiv, Odessa, and various other regions around the country. Among the dead, one British citizen, working for the Reuters news agency. Taliban in Afghanistan banning women from speaking in public With the disappearance of Christian influence in the world, ruthless dictatorships are imposing draconian rules upon the people in their respective nations. The Taliban government introduced new rules on Afghans last week, banning women from speaking in public places, as well as requiring full coverage of face and body for women who traverse outside of the home. Cuba, Nigeria, and Venezuela violate citizens' rights Freedom House also reports that “The authoritarian regimes in Cuba, Nicaragua, and Venezuela regularly violate due process, including arresting perceived dissidents without warrants or based on spurious charges, denying detainees access to legal defense, arbitrarily delaying investigations and hearings, and subjecting detainees to prolonged pretrial detention.” But let us all remember what Jesus said in John 8:34-36. “Whoever commits sin is a slave of sin. And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever. Therefore, if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.” Idaho National Guard purging Christian from positions of command The Idaho National Guard is moving to purge Christians from positions of command. This is now referred to as the “No Christians as Commanders Policy.” Liberty Counsel is defending an infantry officer who shared his views opposing medical mutilation of gender-confused children on his private social media account. The Idaho Army National Guard removed the officer from command following the complaint of a subordinate senior enlisted man who claims to be homosexual. The Guard then illegally pressured him to resign without benefit of any counsel or notice. Liberty Counsel has appealed the case to Idaho Republican Governor Brad Little, requested that he restore the officer's position, and reject the “No Christians as Commanders Policy” for the Idaho National Guard. Texas hospital fired whistleblower objecting to illegal trans minor surgeries A Texas hospital has fired a Christian employee who protested the administrating of gender-altering drugs and surgeries for gender-confused 10 to 17-year-old children. Texas law actually forbids those transgender practices. The whistleblower, Vanessa Sivadge, shared her story and testified to alleged fraudulent use of Medicaid funds with Independent journalist, Christopher Rufo, and was subsequently fired on August 16th. In keeping with its commitment to the mutilation of 10-year-old children, the Biden administration also sent two FBI agents to the nurse's home to intimidate the nurse who reported the irregularities going on at the hospital. Journalist Christopher Rufo featured the video of the FBI intimidation on his X account. Proverbs 29:27 describes this dynamic in these words: “An unjust man is an abomination to the righteous. And he who is upright in the way is an abomination to the wicked.” “The Forge” vs. “Deadpool & Wolverine” “The Forge,” the latest film from The Kendrick Brothers which dramatically depicts Christian discipleship, secured fifth place at the U.S box office over the weekend, bringing in $6.6 million in receipts. Watch the trailer and get tickets at www.TheForgeMovie.com. Meanwhile, the R-rated Deadpool and Wolverine remains in top place at the box office after five weeks. Americans are preferring raw movies with more cursing, swearing, and sex on the screen. Seventeen of the 20 top grossing R-rated movies were released in the 2000s. That compares to only one popular R-rated movie in the 1990s, and one popular R-rated movie in the 1980s. New home inventory at highest level since 2009 In economic news, inventory for new homes in the U.S. market stands at the highest level since 2009 — just before the great recession of 2010. Sales of homes have sagged this summer. So now, overall inventory levels are back up to 2020 levels. Babe Ruth baseball jersey sold for $24 million And finally, referred to as “the Mona Lisa” of sports memorabilia, a baseball jersey worn by Babe Ruth during the 1932 World Series has sold for over $24 million at auction. That made it the most expensive piece of sporting memorabilia ever sold. Heritage's Director of Sports, Chris Ivy, called the jersey “the most significant piece of American sports memorabilia ever offered at auction.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Tuesday, August 27th, in the year of our Lord 2024. You'll see a familiar face in the latest Kendrick Brothers film "The Forge," hitting theaters just as this podcast episode comes out. Cameron Arnett, named Actor of the Year in 2020 by the International Christian Film and Music Festival, opens up to me about the lessons of discipleship and God's empowerment from this new movie...Christian morality causing him to leave acting but then getting back into it...his "Christ over Career" movement...filmmaking in Georgia, and more. Make sure to subscribe to "Run The Race." After introducing our guest and (3:53) giving you a taste/preview of the trailer of "The Forge" - exclusively in theaters on Friday, August 23 - one of the lead actors in that project (5:43) talks about the character being made for him. The annointed movie, as Cameron Arnett calls it, also portrays the plan of God - to go out and make disciples! Is God mad at the church or empowering us? He hopes Christians and nonbelievers take positive messages from "The Forge" about being a better parent, sibling, and putting God first: https://www.theforgemovie.com/. (13:27) Arnett, who started his entertainment career in the late 1980's, has been on TV shows like NBC's Miami Vice, Fox's Star Trek: The Next Generation, ABC's Doogie Howser MD, and more. But after turning down a role that included partial nudity, secular Hollywood turned their back on him. 20+ years later, he started acting again, but this time, representing God - who Cameron says provides and lifts us up, can help you flourish and have success- to give God the Glory. (18:13) He talks some about the organized movement called "Christ Over Career" - a way of life where God wants is to be the greatest and have dominion over the Earth, without and success and fame taking us over. (19:50) Part of Arnett's fame came from his first Kendrick Brothers move "Overcomer" which he shot in my home city of Columbus GA. He talks about that experience...plus the different roles of acting, producing, directing films. After pastoring for a few decades, he hopes more Christians become famous - to be able to proclaim to more people who God is and how much He loves us! Arnett also talks about what's next for him and how you can follow his career: https://www.cameronarnett.com/about. (31:00) As with all episodes, I close us out in prayer. You may have seen some of The Kendrick Brothers movies: FACING THE GIANTS, WAR ROOM, FIREPROOF, OVERCOMER, COURAGEOUS and others. Their new movie comes on 8/23/2024! Please get your tickets today. Great to see with your family or a group of friends. On this episode, we talk about fears, spiritual warfare, how they got into movies, discipleship, Adam Wainwright, and of course the new movie. A short bit about the movie: The Forge tells the story of Isaiah Wright, a 19 year old who lives for basketball and video games. A year out of high school, he still has no job, no plans and no idea of how to be a man. At odds with his single mom, he was given an ultimatum - to step up or move out. And Isaiah is forced to deal with his past, sacrifice his selfishness and discover how God might have a great purpose for his life. The cast of THE FORGE includes familiar farces such as Priscila Shirer (WAR ROOM, I CAN ONLY IMAGINE), Cameron Arnett (OVERCOMER, STAND YOUR GROUND), Karen Abercrombie (WAR ROOM, GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3) and newcomer Aspen Kennedy. Freedom House's latest report on worldwide freedoms released in 2024, indicate a loss of freedoms in 52 countries, and a gain in 21 — for an overall loss in 31 nations of the world. The agency indicates a steady decline in freedom every year since 2006. The organization explains that “Election manipulation was a major driver of declining freedom in 2023 and continued into the first half of this year.” But keep in mind that freedom comes through Jesus. In John 8:36, He said, “If the Son will make you free, you will be free indeed.” Montana Supreme Court calls parental notification unconstitutional The Montana Supreme Court has ruled that a parental notification law for minors considering an abortion is unconstitutional. The 2013 law has been in litigation for over a decade. The court's decision held that a minor's right to “kill her own baby” or, in the ruling's language, “control her reproductive decisions” is “among the most fundamental of the rights she possesses.” Only 35% of Evangelicals have Biblical worldview Only 10% of Americans are Evangelical, and only 35% of these possess a Biblical worldview, according to a recent survey by the Cultural Research Center and pollster George Barna. According to Barna's description, Evangelicals are those who recognize their sinful lives, rely upon Jesus Christ for their redemption, and receive practical life guidance and wisdom from the Bible in their quest to live under the Lordship of Jesus. Disturbingly, 60% of people attending “Evangelical” churches have accepted the popular idea that animals, plants, water, and the wind all have a unique spirit. And almost half of the adults attending Evangelical churches, 44%, believe that there is no absolute moral truth. Phil Donahue dead at 88 Hebrews 9:27 says, “It is appointed once for man to die and after that the judgment.” Iconic TV talk show host Phil Donahue, who hosted the Phil Donahue Show from 1967-1996, is dead at 88 years of age after a long illness, reports NBC News. He was a life-long Catholic, and “not a very good one,” in his own words. Phil Donahue interviewed atheist Madalyn Murray O'Hair For 29 years, his daytime talk show pioneered an intriguing mix of serious topics, provocative guests, well-known celebrities, and questions from the audience members. In 1988, he interviewed atheist Madalyn Murray O'Hair. Listen to his introduction. DONAHUE: “Mrs. O'Hair is probably the world's most famous atheist. She is certain that there is no God. Mrs. O'Hair, as you probably know, is singly responsible for one of the most controversial decisions in the history of the United States Supreme Court, the banning of the official reading of prayer in public schools.” Here's a soundbite from their dialogue. DONAHUE: “Now, this really bugs me, Madalyn.” O'HAIR: “I know it does.” DONAHUE: “See, you say, ‘I don't know how this all began.' And I say, ‘I want to know why, if you don't know how life began, how you're so certain there is no God.' To be consistent, I think you should say, ‘I don't know where life began, and I don't know if there's a God.' O'HAIR: “All right, let me finish it then, because, this is the thing. Since we don't know about this, since none of us know.” DONAHUE: “Know what?” O'HAIR: “How it began, or why, or when, or if it began at all. What we have to do is take all of the evidence. If we pile the evidence up, and all of the evidence of science -- and it's really massive -- is on one side, and on the other side is a book that we know, for the most part, when it was written and how it was written, etc. -- and this flies in the face of all of the other evidence, then you discard the book. You say, ‘It's no good.'” DONAHUE: “But discarding the book doesn't necessarily prove that there is no God. Let's talk about a higher being.” O'HAIR: ‘No, not a being.” DONAHUE: “What do you call it?” O'HAIR: “Some higher entity.” DONAHUE: “Alright, a higher entity. You are saying you don't know if there is one, aren't you?” O'HAIR: “That's right.” DONAHUE: “That's not atheism. That's agnosticism.” (O'Hair giggles) Donahue was married to Margaret Cooney, his first wife, for 17 years with whom he had five children. Then, Donahue married actress Marlo Thomas, his second wife, for 44 years. Hey friends! I'm back from my summer hiatus and have some awesome guests lined up for you this fall, starting this week with Stephen Kendrick of the Kendrick Brothers. Alex and Stephen Kendrick have brought us some great movies like Facing the Giants, Fireproof, Courageous and War Room and their newest movie, The Forge, will release in theaters nationwide on August 23 and he's here to tell us about it. I had the privilege of watching a pre-screening of the movie and I must tell you that there are several scenes in this film that brought me to tears. The story involves a single mom, played by the amazing Priscilla Shirer, who is trying to instill character and responsibility into her 19-year-old son without the help of his father. An older gentleman comes along and decides to disciple this young man and by building that relationship shows the power of godly influence in his life. There are several themes in this movie that show the impact of the gospel when we are courageous enough to step out in faith and walk in obedience to God. And the part I love the most is the power of a praying mama! Priscila does an incredible job of tapping into the emotion we feel as moms when our kids aren't making the best choices and how God can answer our prayers beyond what we could even imagine.
