Gym Marketing Made Simple

Stop giving gym tours and hoping people sign up. Start running sales conversations that almost naturally lead to “Yes.” Welcome to Gym Marketing Made Simple, the show focused on cutting through the noise around gym growth. Each episode centers on practical marketing, sales, and leadership systems that help boutique gyms build steady momentum without guesswork or constant outreach.Episode HighlightsIn today's episode, Jeff Burlingame breaks down a simple, repeatable “structured conversation” that turns random gym introductions into intentional sales appointments, creating momentum, revealing real goals, and helping prospects decide to start now. Episode OutlineWhy every gym needs a point A–to–point B sales framework, not a loose chat or casual tour  The concept of “momentum of agreement” and why prospects should be saying “yes” all along the way .Ideal appointment length (30–45 minutes) and why too short or too long costs you sales  How to build rapport through questions, active listening, and using the prospect's name with intention  The power of being the person who asks the most questions in any interaction  What SMART goals really look like in a gym setting and why “I want to get stronger” isn't enough  How to dig for at least two to three SMART goals with clear, specific follow-up questions  Desire and urgency as the two non‑negotiables behind every sale  Why “budget” is often a defense mechanism—and how true desire makes people find a way  Using future pacing to paint the “joy state” once goals are achieved  Exploring the “pain state”: what happens if nothing changes and goals are never hit  Tying joy and pain together to unlock emotional drive and help prospects commit  Episode Chapters00:00 Intro and show setup00:29 Why every gym needs a structured sales conversation02:10 Moving from casual gym tours to intentional sales frameworks03:30 Building rapport: blind date mindset and appointment length05:15 Active listening, asking better questions, and using names07:00 SMART goals: going deeper than “I want to get stronger”08:30 Why desire and urgency drive every sale (budgets as defense)10:15 Unlocking desire with future pacing and “joy state”12:30 Exploring the “pain state” if nothing changesAction TakenCreate a documented structured conversation framework for gym intro or no-sweat appointments that:  Moves prospects from first hello to clear yes/noTargets a 30–45 minute average appointment lengthBuilds momentum of agreement throughout  Build a rapport-training checklist for staff that focuses on:  Asking the most questions in the roomPracticing active listeningUsing names frequently and naturallyRelying on open-ended follow-ups (“Tell me more about that…”)Add a requirement to collect at least three SMART goals from every prospect and script the exact questions to get themDesign question prompts to unlock desire and urgency, including:  Future pacing (joy state): What life looks and feels like when goals are achievedPain state: What it costs them if nothing changes  ConclusionA predictable gym sales engine starts with a clear, structured conversation. When you stop giving casual tours and start leading prospects through a framework that builds rapport, clarifies SMART goals, and ties those goals to both joy and pain, the decision to join becomes much easier. With the right questions and flow, you're not pushing people—you're guiding them to a confident “yes” at the true beginning of their fitness journey with you.CTAReady to turn your intro appointments into reliable sales conversations?

Step into Episode 200 of ‘On The Delo' as Delo celebrates a major milestone by sitting down with fellow "Delo" Dave Delos, a 30-year bar industry veteran, owner of six neighborhood dive bars, and president of the Arizona Licensed Beverage Association (ALBA). From growing up in Poughkeepsie, New York, and building homes with his hands to buying his first bar from his father-in-law Tony Marino in 1996, Dave shares the full arc of how hard work, family, and a willingness to "figure it out" built a six-location dive bar empire across the West Valley. The conversation goes deep on what it really means to run a family business in hospitality, how Dave and his wife Lori built their operation together (she's known as "the executioner" for a reason), and how their son and daughter have now stepped into daily operations and HR to carry the legacy forward. Dave also opens up about life at 60, losing his father last year, taking his 86-year-old mom wine tasting, and why golf, travel, cooking, and wine at night keep him grounded. You'll hear one of the wildest bar stories ever told involving a live World War II hand grenade thrown into one of his bars, plus Dave's journey from ALBA board member to seven-year president, why a $200,000 Series 6 license needs protecting, and where he stands on mandatory Title 4 training and personal responsibility. Stay for rapid fire on Sunday day drinkers, Michelob Ultra, napkin deals, White Castle, and why dive bars are the fabric of America.Chapter Guide (Timestamps):(0:00 - 2:53) Episode 200 Celebration, "On The Delos," and Why Delo Matters to the Industry(2:54 - 6:38) Growing Up in New York, the Mazda B2000 Road Trip, and Meeting His Wife at Gentleman's Choice(6:39 - 9:54) Moving to Arizona, Buying a Bar from Tony Marino, and Building Six Locations with His Hands(9:54 - 12:38) His Wife "The Executioner," Partnership, and What a Good Woman Does for Your Life and Business(12:39 - 15:18) Passing the Business to His Kids, College First, and Letting Go After 30 Years of Decisions(15:18 - 17:55) Life at 60: Golf, Travel, Wine at Night, and Taking His 86-Year-Old Mom Wine Tasting(17:56 - 20:52) The Live Hand Grenade Story: The Wildest Thing That's Ever Happened in One of His Bars(20:52 - 25:06) Getting Into ALBA, Industry Titans, Bill Weigel, and Why It's "My Time, My Turn"(25:06 - 29:02) What ALBA Does: Lobbying, Licensing, Protecting the $200K Series 6, and Don Isaacson at the Capitol(29:02 - 33:19) Title 4 Training, Mandatory vs. Voluntary, Personal Responsibility, and Masking Intoxication(33:19 - 35:42) ALBA Membership Benefits, $300/Year, Insurance Discounts, and a Welcome to New Members(35:42 - 42:03) Rapid Fire: Sunday Drinkers, Dive Bars, Michelob Ultra, Napkin Deals, White Castle, and Delo's Close

In this episode, Camden Bucey sits down with Carlton Wynne and Marc Harrington at the Reformation and Worship Conference hosted by Midway PCA. Together they reflect on the beauty and theological significance of Reformed worship—where form and content work together to glorify God. The conversation explores how music shapes the soul, why pastors must think theologically about song selection, and how the unity and maturity of the church depend on maintaining the fixed truth of Scripture. From discussions of Scott Aniol's lecture on music that accords with sound doctrine to Wynne's reflections on doctrinal immutability, the episode reminds us that worship is not mere performance—it's the embodied response of the redeemed to the unchanging God. The conversation concludes with reflections on confessional fidelity, the training of pastors, and the importance of cultivating a love for Reformed unity grounded in truth. The Revolutionary Communists of America Explain How They've Recruited 2,500 New Members On College Campuses In The Last Month

This is the group behind those Karl Marx “Are You a Communist?” stickers with the QR codes you see plastered all over college campuses. I've seen them myself. If you scan the code, it takes you to a form that plugs you right into their recruiting network. They claim that since the semester began, 2,500 new people have signed up to join — that's just in the last month. Think about that: 2,500 new communists in thirty days, and they're in at least 30 organized cities with members in every state. They're focusing on campuses, pride events, and even queer bookstores — I actually stole one of their posters when I was undercover in New York. They're not shy. They wave hammer-and-sickle flags, hand out newspapers, and run weekend “Marxist schools” where people literally pay hundreds of dollars to learn revolutionary theory. One thing that really stood out: these are old-school Marxists, not the “queer Marxism” you see in progressive spaces. They explicitly reject identity politics — to them, that's liberal manipulation. They see capitalism itself as the root of all oppression and want to abolish identity categories altogether. That's what separates them from Democrats and the modern left — they view liberals and progressives as part of the problem, not allies. They also explained exactly how they're funded — no Soros, no NGOs, no CCP. They're completely self-funded through dues and event tickets. Every member pays one day's wage per month, and that's how they sustain themselves. That's critical to understand because it means there's no “head of the snake” to cut off. They're building a bottom-up revolutionary network.During the stream, I walked through clips from their organizers in Dallas, Chicago, and Minneapolis talking about recruitment. They're tabling three days a week, postering campuses, and holding events like “Why You Should Be a Communist.” These aren't kids playing pretend — they're disciplined, methodical, and openly discussing how to build a vanguard party ready for revolution. And I'll be honest — I said it flat out on air — I think they're going to win. Maybe not next year, but in the next decade or two, if things keep trending this way. Because the right isn't even paying attention. Trump's people aren't paying attention. These groups are organizing openly, growing every month, and nobody's doing a damn thing to counter it.That's why I do Decode the Left and Socialism Saturday. We listen to their real words, their real strategies, not filtered through conservative media spin. If you want to understand what's actually happening — not just what Fox News says — you have to go straight to the source.Decode The Left with Karlyn Borysenko is a reader-supported publication.
