(2Mac.6:18-31; Ps.3:2-8; Lk.19:1-10) "I fear not the myriads of people arrayed against me on every side." Zacchaeus' running up ahead and climbing a tree in order to be able to see Jesus as He passed along the way may not be a witness on the order of Eleazar, who "declared that above all he would be loyal to the holy laws given by God" and went willingly to torture and death, "leaving in his death a model of courage and an unforgettable example of virtue not only for the young but for the whole nation," but the same faith inspired both. And perhaps this wealthy man giving half of his belongings to the poor does approach the heroism of Eleazar. The principal figures in both our reading and gospel today indeed give witness to the faith in the salvation which Jesus has come to bring to all our houses. And both reflect the strength needed to overcome the myriad of obstacles set in our paths. "O Lord, how many are my adversaries!" David cries in our psalm. "Many rise up against me!" Eleazar is threatened by the systematic persecution of his faith and his people by the pagan king and his minions, but in the face of "the instrument of torture" this noble old man tells his persecutors "to send him at once to the abode of the dead," for he would not bring "shame and dishonor" on himself nor lead the people astray by giving in to an unlawful act. And in our gospel Zacchaeus finds himself surrounded by the murmuring crowd accusing him of being a sinner. But he stands his ground in the face of this persecution, justified or not, and proves himself worthy to be at the side of Jesus. "The Son of Man has come to search out and save what was lost." It is His desire to bring us to salvation. Yet if we do not seek Him, He will not find us. If we do not call to Him, He will not hear us. And if we do not stand our ground and give witness to Him when put to the test for our faith, He cannot stand with us. Temptations must necessarily come. We cannot escape persecution. But we must not listen to those who say, "There is no salvation for him in God." We must remember that God stands with us if we stand with Him, and that it is just such as us He has come to save. ******* O LORD, help us to stand strong in your NAME in the face of persecution; let us endure all with you. YHWH, our adversaries surround us on every side saying there is no salvation for us in God because of our sins against you, or because they doubt your existence. Thus the darkness closes in upon us, the wickedness of this evil place. But standing with you we are saved. When we call on your NAME, when we climb the tree of life, your holy mountain, to gaze on your face, you are there to receive our souls: though we die we shall wake with you. Why should we be afraid, LORD, though myriads of people are arrayed against us, though they threaten us with torture and death? Even if our sins should accuse us, even if rightly we should be condemned, yet your Son comes to seek us out and redeem us from condemnation to stand with Him in your kingdom. O let Him come to our house this day! and with Him let us remain faithful till the end.

We Are More Than Conquerors Through Him Who Loved UsRomans 8:35-39 “Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will hardship, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?  As it is written, “For your sake we are being killed all day long; we are accounted as sheep to be slaughtered.”  No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.  For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers,  nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”This scripture verse is letting us know that there is nothing that we can do that will separate us from God's love.  It is also telling us that we should not interpret the bad things that are happening in our lives as proof that God has stopped loving us.  God will continue to love us forever.  There is nothing that we can do to change this.  The verse is asking us if hardship, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword will separate us from Christ.  This is a tough question because these things can separate us if we let them.  One really important part of this verse is when it says, “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.”  Do you need to hear that again?  “We are more than conquerors through him who loved us.”If this is the case, then why do we feel so defeated at times?  Some of the things listed above can absolutely separate us from Christ if we let them.  Have you ever gone through a hardship and instead of feeling closer to God, you felt farther away?  Have you ever struggled to see where God was in all of your pain?  This can happen to a lot of people.  I just heard about a couple that lost one of their 6-month-old twins.  Loss of a child is something that can really strain your relationship with God.  Losing a loved one is always hard.  However, losing a child has got to be one of the hardest things to understand.  It makes no sense to us.  Why did she have to die?  Why would God do this to their family?  Why wouldn't God heal her, as we know that He can?  When we are hurting, we tend to lash out and we try to find someone to blame.  God is a good candidate as He is strong and He can take our anger.  God doesn't mind when we yell at Him, as He understands what we are going through.  The problem is when we don't process our anger and our grief, and we stay mad at God.  If we are able to lean into God instead of turning away from Him in anger, God can give us the strength to get back up again after we have been knocked down.  God can ease our pain and help us to get out of bed in the morning.  God can help us find a reason to go on.  We can do all things through Christ, who strengthens us.  We can defeat the grief we feel if we turn to God and ask Him to help us.  The same is true with any hardship you are going through.  Maybe you have lost your job, and you don't know how you are going to provide for your family right now.  Turn to God, and He will help you provide.  He will provide for you if you ask Him to. He is amazing! What about persecution and famine, could that separate you from Christ?  I can see how it could.  If you are being persecuted for your beliefs, you may start to hide your beliefs more so that you fit in with the crowd.  You may even compromise your beliefs just so that you do not get persecuted anymore.  Today, when I was listening to the Bible in a Year podcast, Father Mike read from 2 Maccabees 6.  It told the story of a wise old man named Eleazar.  The Greeks were trying to get the Jews to become more like the Greeks.  They were trying to force Eleazar to eat pork, which was against Jewish laws.  His friends were telling him that it would be ok, he could eat whatever meat he wanted to eat, but it would look like he was eating the pork.  The Greeks wouldn't know the difference, and Eleazar wouldn't have to die.  However, Eleazar refused, saying that if people saw him eat the meat and thought that he had gone against the Lord's law, then they too might sin, and He couldn't do that.  Eleazar was able to withstand the persecution, but what about those who didn't?  Persecution and famine can definitely mess with your head.  Most of us don't want to die, especially if that dying involves torture and a painful death.  We also don't want to starve to death. When you don't have anything to eat and you haven't had anything for a very long time, you will do something that you normally wouldn't.  The same goes for how you act when your life is on the line.  These things don't have to separate us from the Lord.  If we turn to Him and ask Him for help, we will get the help we are looking for.  Remember, it says right in this verse that, “We are more than conquerors through him who loved us.”  We can conquer anything with Christ.  He is there for us, and He will help us get through whatever it is we are going through.  The only thing we need to do is ask for this help and then accept when He offers it to us.  I know accepting help can be hard.  We think we need to be strong and do it all ourselves.  I am telling you, accept the help.  Accept the help, even if it looks different from what you thought it would.  You never know how God will reach out and help. Sometimes it is through a complete stranger, sometimes it is exactly what you asked for, and sometimes it is nothing like the help that you asked for.  The thing is, God knows best.  If he is sending you help, it is because that is exactly what you need right now.  Accept it.  Trust that He knows what He is doing.  I will end with the end of the verse, as I think it sums it up nicely, and it doesn't really need any explaining.  “For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers,  nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”Dear Heavenly Father, I pray that you bless all those listening to this episode today.  Lord, help us to lean into you in times of distress and not turn away.  Lord, give us the strength to not let anything separate us from your love.  Give us the strength to get back up again when life knocks us down.  Help us to process our grief in a way that does not blame you for all that is going wrong.  Help us to see that you are with us through all the bad and the good.  We love you, Lord. You are so amazing. Help us to never forget that.  We ask all of this in accordance with your will and in Jesus' holy name, Amen.Thank you so much for joining me on this journey to walk boldly with Jesus. Veteran's Day 2025 2 Samuel 23:8-12 (KJV) These be the names of the mighty men whom David had: The Tachmonite that sat in the seat, chief among the captains; the same was Adino the Eznite: he lift up his spear against eight hundred, whom he slew at one time. 9 And after him was Eleazar the son of Dodo the Ahohite, one of the three mighty men with David, when they defied the Philistines that were there gathered together to battle, and the men of Israel were gone away: 10 He arose, and smote the Philistines until his hand was weary, and his hand clave unto the sword: and the LORD wrought a great victory that day; and the people returned after him only to spoil. 11 And after him was Shammah the son of Agee the Hararite. And the Philistines were gathered together into a troop, where was a piece of ground full of lentiles: and the people fled from the Philistines. 12 But he stood in the midst of the ground, and defended it, and slew the Philistines: and the LORD wrought a great victory.

The names of the daughters were Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milkah and Tirzah. They came forward and stood before Moses, Eleazar the priest, the leaders and the whole assembly at the entrance to the tent of meeting and said, “Our father died in the wilderness. He was not among Korah's followers, who banded together against the LORD, but he died for his own sin and left no sons. Why should our father's name disappear from his clan because he had no son? Give us property among our father's relatives.” So Moses brought their case before the LORD, and the LORD said to him, “What Zelophehad's daughters are saying is right. You must certainly give them property as an inheritance among their father's relatives and give their father's inheritance to them. “Say to the Israelites, ‘If a man dies and leaves no son, give his inheritance to his daughter. If he has no daughter, give his inheritance to his brothers. If he has no brothers, give his inheritance to his father's brothers. If his father had no brothers, give his inheritance to the nearest relative in his clan, that he may possess it. This is to have the force of law for the Israelites, as the LORD commanded Moses.'”

Believe His Prophets

At that time the Lord said unto me, Hew thee two tables of stone like unto the first, and come up unto me into the mount, and make thee an ark of wood.2 And I will write on the tables the words that were in the first tables which thou brakest, and thou shalt put them in the ark.3 And I made an ark of shittim wood, and hewed two tables of stone like unto the first, and went up into the mount, having the two tables in mine hand.4 And he wrote on the tables, according to the first writing, the ten commandments, which the Lord spake unto you in the mount out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly: and the Lord gave them unto me.5 And I turned myself and came down from the mount, and put the tables in the ark which I had made; and there they be, as the Lord commanded me.6 And the children of Israel took their journey from Beeroth of the children of Jaakan to Mosera: there Aaron died, and there he was buried; and Eleazar his son ministered in the priest's office in his stead.7 From thence they journeyed unto Gudgodah; and from Gudgodah to Jotbath, a land of rivers of waters.8 At that time the Lord separated the tribe of Levi, to bear the ark of the covenant of the Lord, to stand before the Lord to minister unto him, and to bless in his name, unto this day.9 Wherefore Levi hath no part nor inheritance with his brethren; the Lord is his inheritance, according as the Lord thy God promised him.10 And I stayed in the mount, according to the first time, forty days and forty nights; and the Lord hearkened unto me at that time also, and the Lord would not destroy thee.11 And the Lord said unto me, Arise, take thy journey before the people, that they may go in and possess the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give unto them.12 And now, Israel, what doth the Lord thy God require of thee, but to fear the Lord thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the Lord thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul,13 To keep the commandments of the Lord, and his statutes, which I command thee this day for thy good?14 Behold, the heaven and the heaven of heavens is the Lord's thy God, the earth also, with all that therein is.15 Only the Lord had a delight in thy fathers to love them, and he chose their seed after them, even you above all people, as it is this day.16 Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no more stiffnecked.17 For the Lord your God is God of gods, and Lord of lords, a great God, a mighty, and a terrible, which regardeth not persons, nor taketh reward:18 He doth execute the judgment of the fatherless and widow, and loveth the stranger, in giving him food and raiment.19 Love ye therefore the stranger: for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.20 Thou shalt fear the Lord thy God; him shalt thou serve, and to him shalt thou cleave, and swear by his name.21 He is thy praise, and he is thy God, that hath done for thee these great and terrible things, which thine eyes have seen.22 Thy fathers went down into Egypt with threescore and ten persons; and now the Lord thy God hath made thee as the stars of heaven for multitude.

A Leaning Lady I have come into my garden, my sister, my bride; I have gathered my myrrh along with my balsam. I have eaten my honeycomb and my honey; I have drunk my wine and my milk. Eat, friends; drink and imbibe deeply, O lovers.” Of all the righteous ones of Scripture, Avraham and Sarah were the best known for the hospitality to strangers, especially when they received the three angels. (So 5:1) Good gardening is good hospitality to the voice of Adonai, His holy Presence. Because human beings, particularly believers walking in the Way of Yeshua, are in His image, practicing hospitality toward people of faith is an especially sweet fruit of the Ruach HaKodesh. “Given to hospitality” is not a light characteristic to the righteous. It is integral. It was incorporated into the believers' daily habits in the Books of Acts, and it is a vital quality for an elderwoman of the congregation... The number 60 is signified by the Hebrew letter samekh, which means to support, sustain, to lean upon, ordain: • "Moses did just as the LORD commanded him; and he took Joshua and set him before Eleazar the priest and before all the congregation. Then he laid his hands on him and commissioned him, just as the LORD had spoken through Moses." (Nu 27:22-23)  ??????????? ?????????? ?????? ???????????? ????????? ??????? ??????????????????? The appearance of the letter samekh is round, like a wheel. A burden may be moved more easily in a wheeled cart than dragged or carried, and to ordain someone for ministry is to infuse them with the spiritual strength to be that person who eases the burdens that others must carry for the Kingdom. The anointing of the ordination is to help that servant bear the suffering for that ministry in the Kingdom. As those who ordain must lean their hands upon the one receiving the ordination, so others will lean upon him or her to ease their suffering. Those who plead for an anointing may not understand exactly what they're asking for. With the anointing comes the suffering! By the age of 60, the individual is considered to have committed his or her best physical years to the royal priesthood, slightly different from the Levites, who formally served from ages 25 to 50 (Nu 8:23-26). This did not preclude them from assisting their younger brothers, serving as mentors. The holy Mishkan/Mikdash work was physically demanding as well as exacting. At the age of 60, a righteous woman has achieved an age where she needs physical support as her due for devoting her life as a royal priestess to the support of the righteous community and her family. She is still a teacher and mentor to the younger, but as others have leaned upon her, now she must lean upon others for physical support: • “A widow is to be put on the list only if she is not less than sixty years old, having been the wife of one man, having a reputation for good works; and if she has brought up children, if she has shown hospitality to strangers, if she has washed the saints' feet, if she has assisted those in distress, and if she has devoted herself to every good work.” (1 Ti 5:9-10) The age of 60 suggests that she has fulfilled the days of her ordination to every good work. Just as Levites were still entitld to portions from the Temple gifts after retirement, so a righteous elderwoman is entitled to eat from the common fund of the congregation she's served. Paul defines for Timothy the behaviors that are elderwoman good works according to the Word: 1 bringing up children 2 showing hospitality to righteous strangers 3 washing the feet of the righteous (extended hospitality as in #2) 4 recognizing and assisting those in distress A reputation is a “name,” and Ruach-filled women who demonstrated this vital attribute of a good name were entitled to full benefits from their congregations in old age. It was NOT the responsibility of the government, but her congregation if her family was unable to provide.

God forbid that we should rebel against the LORD, and turn this day from following the LORD, to build an altar for burnt offerings, for meat offerings, or for sacrifices, beside the altar of the LORD our God that is before his tabernacle.JOS.22:30 And when Phinehas the priest, and the princes of the congregation and heads of the thousands of Israel which were with him, heard the words that the children of Reuben and the children of Gad and the children of Manasseh spake, it pleased them.JOS.22:31 And Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest said unto the children of Reuben, and to the children of Gad, and to the children of Manasseh, This day we perceive that the LORD is among us, because ye have not committed this trespass against the LORD: now ye have delivered the children of Israel out of the hand of the LORD.JOS.22:32 And Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest, and the princes, returned from the children of Reuben, and from the children of Gad, out of the land of Gilead, unto the land of Canaan, to the children of Israel, and brought them word again.JOS.22:33 And the thing pleased the children of Israel; and the children of Israel blessed God, and did not intend to go up against them in battle, to destroy the land wherein the children of Reuben and Gad dwelt.JOS.22:34 And the children of Reuben and the children of Gad called the altar Ed: for it shall be a witness between us that the LORD is God.
