At that time the Lord said unto me, Hew thee two tables of stone like unto the first, and come up unto me into the mount, and make thee an ark of wood.2 And I will write on the tables the words that were in the first tables which thou brakest, and thou shalt put them in the ark.3 And I made an ark of shittim wood, and hewed two tables of stone like unto the first, and went up into the mount, having the two tables in mine hand.4 And he wrote on the tables, according to the first writing, the ten commandments, which the Lord spake unto you in the mount out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly: and the Lord gave them unto me.5 And I turned myself and came down from the mount, and put the tables in the ark which I had made; and there they be, as the Lord commanded me.6 And the children of Israel took their journey from Beeroth of the children of Jaakan to Mosera: there Aaron died, and there he was buried; and Eleazar his son ministered in the priest's office in his stead.7 From thence they journeyed unto Gudgodah; and from Gudgodah to Jotbath, a land of rivers of waters.8 At that time the Lord separated the tribe of Levi, to bear the ark of the covenant of the Lord, to stand before the Lord to minister unto him, and to bless in his name, unto this day.9 Wherefore Levi hath no part nor inheritance with his brethren; the Lord is his inheritance, according as the Lord thy God promised him.10 And I stayed in the mount, according to the first time, forty days and forty nights; and the Lord hearkened unto me at that time also, and the Lord would not destroy thee.11 And the Lord said unto me, Arise, take thy journey before the people, that they may go in and possess the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give unto them.12 And now, Israel, what doth the Lord thy God require of thee, but to fear the Lord thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the Lord thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul,13 To keep the commandments of the Lord, and his statutes, which I command thee this day for thy good?14 Behold, the heaven and the heaven of heavens is the Lord's thy God, the earth also, with all that therein is.15 Only the Lord had a delight in thy fathers to love them, and he chose their seed after them, even you above all people, as it is this day.16 Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no more stiffnecked.17 For the Lord your God is God of gods, and Lord of lords, a great God, a mighty, and a terrible, which regardeth not persons, nor taketh reward:18 He doth execute the judgment of the fatherless and widow, and loveth the stranger, in giving him food and raiment.19 Love ye therefore the stranger: for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.20 Thou shalt fear the Lord thy God; him shalt thou serve, and to him shalt thou cleave, and swear by his name.21 He is thy praise, and he is thy God, that hath done for thee these great and terrible things, which thine eyes have seen.22 Thy fathers went down into Egypt with threescore and ten persons; and now the Lord thy God hath made thee as the stars of heaven for multitude.
A Leaning Lady I have come into my garden, my sister, my bride; I have gathered my myrrh along with my balsam. I have eaten my honeycomb and my honey; I have drunk my wine and my milk. Eat, friends; drink and imbibe deeply, O lovers.” Of all the righteous ones of Scripture, Avraham and Sarah were the best known for the hospitality to strangers, especially when they received the three angels. (So 5:1) Good gardening is good hospitality to the voice of Adonai, His holy Presence. Because human beings, particularly believers walking in the Way of Yeshua, are in His image, practicing hospitality toward people of faith is an especially sweet fruit of the Ruach HaKodesh. “Given to hospitality” is not a light characteristic to the righteous. It is integral. It was incorporated into the believers' daily habits in the Books of Acts, and it is a vital quality for an elderwoman of the congregation... The number 60 is signified by the Hebrew letter samekh, which means to support, sustain, to lean upon, ordain: • "Moses did just as the LORD commanded him; and he took Joshua and set him before Eleazar the priest and before all the congregation. Then he laid his hands on him and commissioned him, just as the LORD had spoken through Moses." (Nu 27:22-23) ??????????? ?????????? ?????? ???????????? ????????? ??????? ??????????????????? The appearance of the letter samekh is round, like a wheel. A burden may be moved more easily in a wheeled cart than dragged or carried, and to ordain someone for ministry is to infuse them with the spiritual strength to be that person who eases the burdens that others must carry for the Kingdom. The anointing of the ordination is to help that servant bear the suffering for that ministry in the Kingdom. As those who ordain must lean their hands upon the one receiving the ordination, so others will lean upon him or her to ease their suffering. Those who plead for an anointing may not understand exactly what they're asking for. With the anointing comes the suffering! By the age of 60, the individual is considered to have committed his or her best physical years to the royal priesthood, slightly different from the Levites, who formally served from ages 25 to 50 (Nu 8:23-26). This did not preclude them from assisting their younger brothers, serving as mentors. The holy Mishkan/Mikdash work was physically demanding as well as exacting. At the age of 60, a righteous woman has achieved an age where she needs physical support as her due for devoting her life as a royal priestess to the support of the righteous community and her family. She is still a teacher and mentor to the younger, but as others have leaned upon her, now she must lean upon others for physical support: • “A widow is to be put on the list only if she is not less than sixty years old, having been the wife of one man, having a reputation for good works; and if she has brought up children, if she has shown hospitality to strangers, if she has washed the saints' feet, if she has assisted those in distress, and if she has devoted herself to every good work.” (1 Ti 5:9-10) The age of 60 suggests that she has fulfilled the days of her ordination to every good work. Just as Levites were still entitld to portions from the Temple gifts after retirement, so a righteous elderwoman is entitled to eat from the common fund of the congregation she's served. Paul defines for Timothy the behaviors that are elderwoman good works according to the Word: 1 bringing up children 2 showing hospitality to righteous strangers 3 washing the feet of the righteous (extended hospitality as in #2) 4 recognizing and assisting those in distress A reputation is a “name,” and Ruach-filled women who demonstrated this vital attribute of a good name were entitled to full benefits from their congregations in old age. It was NOT the responsibility of the government, but her congregation if her family was unable to provide.

Eleazar became the father of Matthan, Matthan the father of Jacob, Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary. Of her was born Jesus who is called the Messiah. Now this is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about. When his mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, but before they lived together, she was found with child through the holy Spirit. Joseph her husband, since he was a righteous man, yet unwilling to expose her to shame, decided to divorce her quietly. Such was his intention when, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, "Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary your wife into your home. For it is through the holy Spirit that this child has been conceived in her. She will bear a son and you are to name him Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins." All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: "Behold, the virgin shall be with child and bear a son, and they shall name him Emmanuel," which means "God is with us."The Gospel of the Lord

God forbid that we should rebel against the LORD, and turn this day from following the LORD, to build an altar for burnt offerings, for meat offerings, or for sacrifices, beside the altar of the LORD our God that is before his tabernacle.JOS.22:30 And when Phinehas the priest, and the princes of the congregation and heads of the thousands of Israel which were with him, heard the words that the children of Reuben and the children of Gad and the children of Manasseh spake, it pleased them.JOS.22:31 And Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest said unto the children of Reuben, and to the children of Gad, and to the children of Manasseh, This day we perceive that the LORD is among us, because ye have not committed this trespass against the LORD: now ye have delivered the children of Israel out of the hand of the LORD.JOS.22:32 And Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest, and the princes, returned from the children of Reuben, and from the children of Gad, out of the land of Gilead, unto the land of Canaan, to the children of Israel, and brought them word again.JOS.22:33 And the thing pleased the children of Israel; and the children of Israel blessed God, and did not intend to go up against them in battle, to destroy the land wherein the children of Reuben and Gad dwelt.JOS.22:34 And the children of Reuben and the children of Gad called the altar Ed: for it shall be a witness between us that the LORD is God.

Joshua 24 describes the final public act of Joshua, Israel's leader after Moses. He calls all the tribes of Israel to gather at Shechem, a place with deep spiritual significance in Israel's history. There, he delivers a farewell address and renews the covenant between God and His people. First, Joshua reminds them of everything God has done for them — starting from Abraham's calling, to the deliverance from Egypt, to victories over powerful nations in Canaan. He emphasizes that it was God, not their own strength, that gave them the land, cities, and crops they now enjoy. Joshua then challenges the people to make a decision: serve the LORD wholeheartedly or follow the gods of other nations. He makes his personal stand clear with the famous declaration, “As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” The people respond by affirming their loyalty to God, acknowledging His deliverance and blessings. Joshua warns them that serving God is a serious covenant and that turning away would bring consequences. They insist they will remain faithful, and he instructs them to destroy any remaining idols and devote themselves to God. Joshua formalizes this commitment by recording their agreement in the Book of the Law of God and setting up a large stone as a physical witness to their vow. After this covenant renewal, the chapter closes with the account of Joshua's death at 110 years old, the burial of Joseph's bones in Shechem (fulfilling a centuries-old promise), and the death of Eleazar the priest. The people of Israel continue to serve the LORD throughout Joshua's life and during the lifetime of the elders who knew him. #Joshua24 #AsForMeAndMyHouse #ServeTheLord #BibleChapterSummary #OldTestament #BibleStudy #CovenantRenewal #FaithfulnessOfGod #ChooseWhomYouWillServe #ScriptureStudy #BibleExplained #BibleTeaching #JoshuaInTheBible #BibleHistory #Shechem #BibleLessonsBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/sendme-radio--732966/support.
There was also a lot for the tribe of Manasseh; for he was the firstborn of Joseph; to wit, for Machir the firstborn of Manasseh, the father of Gilead: because he was a man of war, therefore he had Gilead and Bashan.JOS.17:2 There was also a lot for the rest of the children of Manasseh by their families; for the children of Abiezer, and for the children of Helek, and for the children of Asriel, and for the children of Shechem, and for the children of Hepher, and for the children of Shemida: these were the male children of Manasseh the son of Joseph by their families.JOS.17:3 But Zelophehad, the son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, had no sons, but daughters: and these are the names of his daughters, Mahlah, and Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah.JOS.17:4 And they came near before Eleazar the priest, and before Joshua the son of Nun, and before the princes, saying, The LORD commanded Moses to give us an inheritance among our brethren. Therefore according to the commandment of the LORD he gave them an inheritance among the brethren of their father.JOS.17:5 And there fell ten portions to Manasseh, beside the land of Gilead and Bashan, which were on the other side Jordan;JOS.17:6 Because the daughters of Manasseh had an inheritance among his sons: and the rest of Manasseh's sons had the land of Gilead.JOS.17:7 And the coast of Manasseh was from Asher to Michmethah, that lieth before Shechem; and the border went along on the right hand unto the inhabitants of Entappuah.JOS.17:8 Now Manasseh had the land of Tappuah: but Tappuah on the border of Manasseh belonged to the children of Ephraim;JOS.17:9 And the coast descended unto the river Kanah, southward of the river: these cities of Ephraim are among the cities of Manasseh: the coast of Manasseh also was on the north side of the river, and the outgoings of it were at the sea:JOS.17:10 Southward it was Ephraim's, and northward it was Manasseh's, and the sea is his border; and they met together in Asher on the north, and in Issachar on the east.JOS.17:11 And Manasseh had in Issachar and in Asher Bethshean and her towns, and Ibleam and her towns, and the inhabitants of Dor and her towns, and the inhabitants of Endor and her towns, and the inhabitants of Taanach and her towns, and the inhabitants of Megiddo and her towns, even three countries.JOS.17:12 Yet the children of Manasseh could not drive out the inhabitants of those cities; but the Canaanites would dwell in that land.JOS.17:13 Yet it came to pass, when the children of Israel were waxen strong, that they put the Canaanites to tribute, but did not utterly drive them out.JOS.17:14 And the children of Joseph spake unto Joshua, saying, Why hast thou given me but one lot and one portion to inherit, seeing I am a great people, forasmuch as the LORD hath blessed me hitherto?JOS.17:15 And Joshua answered them, If thou be a great people, then get thee up to the wood country, and cut down for thyself there in the land of the Perizzites and of the giants, if mount Ephraim be too narrow for thee.JOS.17:16 And the children of Joseph said, The hill is not enough for us: and all the Canaanites that dwell in the land of the valley have chariots of iron, both they who are of Bethshean and her towns, and they who are of the valley of Jezreel.JOS.17:17 And Joshua spake unto the house of Joseph, even to Ephraim and to Manasseh, saying, Thou art a great people, and hast great power: thou shalt not have one lot only:JOS.17:18 But the mountain shall be thine; for it is a wood, and thou shalt cut it down: and the outgoings of it shall be thine: for thou shalt drive out the Canaanites, though they have iron chariots, and though they be strong.

And these are the countries which the children of Israel inherited in the land of Canaan, which Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the children of Israel, distributed for inheritance to them.JOS.14:2 By lot was their inheritance, as the LORD commanded by the hand of Moses, for the nine tribes, and for the half tribe.JOS.14:3 For Moses had given the inheritance of two tribes and an half tribe on the other side Jordan: but unto the Levites he gave none inheritance among them.JOS.14:4 For the children of Joseph were two tribes, Manasseh and Ephraim: therefore they gave no part unto the Levites in the land, save cities to dwell in, with their suburbs for their cattle and for their substance.JOS.14:5 As the LORD commanded Moses, so the children of Israel did, and they divided the land.JOS.14:6 Then the children of Judah came unto Joshua in Gilgal: and Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite said unto him, Thou knowest the thing that the LORD said unto Moses the man of God concerning me and thee in Kadeshbarnea.JOS.14:7 Forty years old was I when Moses the servant of the LORD sent me from Kadeshbarnea to espy out the land; and I brought him word again as it was in mine heart.JOS.14:8 Nevertheless my brethren that went up with me made the heart of the people melt: but I wholly followed the LORD my God.JOS.14:9 And Moses sware on that day, saying, Surely the land whereon thy feet have trodden shall be thine inheritance, and thy children's for ever, because thou hast wholly followed the LORD my God.JOS.14:10 And now, behold, the LORD hath kept me alive, as he said, these forty and five years, even since the LORD spake this word unto Moses, while the children of Israel wandered in the wilderness: and now, lo, I am this day fourscore and five years old.JOS.14:11 As yet I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me: as my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for war, both to go out, and to come in.JOS.14:12 Now therefore give me this mountain, whereof the LORD spake in that day; for thou heardest in that day how the Anakims were there, and that the cities were great and fenced: if so be the LORD will be with me, then I shall be able to drive them out, as the LORD said.JOS.14:13 And Joshua blessed him, and gave unto Caleb the son of Jephunneh Hebron for an inheritance.JOS.14:14 Hebron therefore became the inheritance of Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite unto this day, because that he wholly followed the LORD God of Israel.JOS.14:15 And the name of Hebron before was Kirjatharba; which Arba was a great man among the Anakims. And the land had rest from war.

This episode explores the Israelites' journey to the southern border of Canaan. As they reach Kadesh, internal conflicts arise, with Miriam and the congregation questioning Moses's leadership. God instructs Moses to send twelve spies to Canaan. Their report of the land's richness incites fear among the congregation, leading to rebellion. Two spies, Caleb and Joshua, demonstrate faith in God's promise to conquer the land, but their encouragement is met with threats. The Israelite rebellion culminates in God's judgement: the Israelites will wander in the wilderness for 40 years, with only Caleb and Joshua surviving. NOTE: The tribe of Levi may have been excluded from the judgment on the congregation (Eleazar, the son of Aaron, was almost certainly above 20, Levi had no spy representative among the 12, and Levites may have been exempted from military service)Support the showRead along with us in the Bible Brief App! In this powerful message, Pastor Anthony Hayes unpacks the inspiring story of Eleazar, one of David's mighty men, who stood his ground and refused to let the Philistines take his field—even when he stood alone. Through this example, Pastor Hayes reminds us that no matter how overwhelming the opposition may seem, we are never truly alone. When we take a stand for what's right, Jesus gives us the strength to endure and the courage to keep fighting. Never Give Up is a call to hold your ground in faith, even when everything is against you.The New Kingdom By Anthony Hayes https://a.co/d/eLbERnUDon't forget to subscribe to the podcast and follow us on Facebook also leave us a review If You Like To donate to this podcast you can through cashapp or email us at brothersjustsearchingpodcast@gmail.com for more infoAnything is appreciated Cashapp infoBJSmediaThis podcast is brought to you by BJS MEDIA. Mary and Martha, with their brother Lazarus, were especially devoted disciples of our Lord; their story up to the time of the Resurrection can be found in Luke 10 and John 11-12. Mary and Martha were among the Myrrh-bearing women. They, with their brother, reposed in Cyprus, where Lazarus became first Bishop of Kition after he was raised from death by Christ. An ancient tradition holds that Lazarus was thirty years old when he was restored to life by the Lord, and that he lived another thirty years. After he was raised from the dead, he never again laughed; but once, when he saw someone stealing a clay pot, he smiled and said, 'Clay stealing clay.' His name is a Greek version of Eleazar, meaning 'God has helped.'

Recorded 5/18/2025 Pastor Larry Stephens brings a message from Joshua 14:1-14 entitled, "Getting What We Do Not Deserve: A Faithful Friend." What makes a faithful friend? What characteristics make a faithful friend. By looking into Joshua 14, two examples rise to the surface in Eleazar and Caleb. Yet, one friend outshines them all. I. God Gives Us Faithful Friends in Ministry II. God Gives Us Faithful Friends Who Admonish:
In this Bible Story, we meet the mighty men of David. Their character, skill and devotion separate them from the rest of the soldiers of Israel, and David relies on them as he takes back Israel from the Philistines. These three Jashobeam, Eleazar, and Shama were loyal men of renown standing fierce against the Philistines and standing firm for the good of the people. The clans and families of Israel are settling into their apportioned lands and beginning to find rest when a report spreads across the lands that the tribes on the other side of the Jordan are rebelling against God. They ready themselves for war, knowing that God is a jealous God, but later find their zealous action was in haste. Today's reading ends with the burial of three leaders: Joshua, who experienced the exodus as well as the conquering of the Promised Land; Eleazar, the successor to Aaron in the priesthood; and finally, the bones of Joseph who had died in Egypt. It marks the end of an era and a shift in the tide of Israel's history.Joshua 22 - 1:13 . Joshua 23 - 10:00 . Joshua 24 - 14:17 . Psalm 61 - 22:21 . Life issues in Genesis 15When Genesis 15 opens, Abram faces a moment of deep uncertainty. God promised him descendants, land, and a savior — yet none have materialized. Sarah remains unable to conceive, and Abram's inheritance seems destined for his servant Eleazar. His heart cries out: "God, what are you doing? You've given me no offspring!"But notice something beautiful here — Abram's doubt doesn't reflect weak faith, but rather a faith strong enough to wrestle honestly with God. Doubt isn't the absence of faith; it's being "double-minded" — believing God's promise while simultaneously seeing a reality that doesn't match. We can feel like this, too — when illness lingers, when brokenness remains — we believe God's promises, yet our pain speaks a different story.God meets Abram's doubt not with rebuke but with a profound act of grace and reassurance. He takes him outside to look at the stars, promising descendants too numerous to count. But God does more—He provides something tangible. Through an ancient covenant ceremony, where normally both parties would walk between cut up animals, only God passes through as a smoking fire pot and flaming torch. God essentially says: "These promises rest entirely on My shoulders. I will carry this or this is what will happen to me."God still uses tangible means to bring his promises to us — through His Word joined to physical elements in the sacraments — at the communion rail and in the waters of baptism. Like Abram, we can trust that God is working, your story can only end one way—the way He promised.Contributor Michelle Bauman is the Director of Y4Life.Contributor Rev. We see that God frequently calls people into a unique service. We see that, as we have the last few weeks, in regard to the tribe of Levy, we see that in regard to the household of Aaron, and God, even to this day, is calling people in a unique way to serve Him and to participate with his will. And we need to remember that, that if we are His servants, we are going to be committed to his will and not ours. Walking in Wisdom: Preparing for Lent with Sirach As the Catholic Church approaches the Lenten season; we stand at the threshold of a sacred time—a time to reflect on the profound mystery of our salvation and the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Lent calls us to renew our baptismal promises and deepen our spiritual journey. But why is this reflection so essential? Discover more in today's homily. A Time for Preparation Lent is a season of preparation, especially for those seeking baptism into Christ. The Church, through today's readings, imparts wisdom that arises from daily life experiences. One such reading comes from the Book of Sirach—unique among Old Testament wisdom literature because its author, Yeshua ben Eleazar ben Sira (or Ben Sira), identifies himself. His purpose is clear: to emphasize that true wisdom is found in following God's commandments. The depth of our understanding and spiritual growth is revealed through the choices we make and the way we live each day. Sirach Teaches Us About Wisdom Ben Sira teaches that wisdom is most clearly expressed in our speech. A person's words immediately reveal the depth of their understanding and character. Furthermore, he speaks of the heart—not merely as a physical organ but as the core of our authentic self. A heart rooted in truth manifests itself through acts of love, compassion, and charity. Our words and actions ultimately reflect the condition of our hearts. So, how do we care for our hearts? How do we nurture our true selves in faith and wisdom? Let us take to heart the lesson from Sirach, embracing the journey of Lent as a time for transformation and spiritual renewal. Listen to this Meditation Media. Fr. Mike offers a recap of Eleazar's martyrdom and marvels at Eleazar's courage to avoid both sin, and the temptation to lead others into sin. As we begin reading the book of Wisdom today, we also learn three valuable lessons; God did not create death, death entered the world through sin, and we are wise when we walk in the truth but foolish when we walk in evil. Today's readings are 2 Maccabees 6, Wisdom 1-2, and Proverbs 24:21-26. For the complete reading plan, visit ascensionpress.com/bibleinayear. Fr. Mike illustrates the story of Eleazar and the abandonment of peace terms between the Jews and the Greeks. He also recognizes the pain that children and family members who don't follow the Lord can bring about, and uses wisdom from Sirach to address this prevalent struggle.
