With movies like “Once,” “Begin Again” and “Sing Street,” Irish filmmaker John Carney has found a way to make movie musicals relevant for contemporary audiences. His latest effort is "Power Ballad." Kansas City's Paul Rudd stars alongside Nick Jonas in the story of a struggling wedding singer who bonds with a pop star. When the former boy band member steals a song from his friend, things get dicey. Rudd is as good as he's been in years, and Jonas is solid in a role tailor made for him. “Power Ballad” is a rousing crowd-pleaser that's filled with catchy music. If you are familiar with the phrase, "By the power of Grayskull," then the clunky action fantasy "Masters of the Universe" might be nostalgic for you...but that's really all it's got going for it. In this update of the 80s adventure cartoons based on the line of Mattel toys, Nicholas Galitzine plays an annoyingly uncertain He-Man, Jered Leto provides the petulant voice of Skeletor and Idris Elba is wasted as a washed-up warrior. The movie's tongue-in-cheek approach never works. “Masters of the Universe” lacks the power. The Wayans Brothers are back with yet another ultra raunchy horror movie parody. Despite its title, "Scary Movie" is actually “Scary Movie 6,” the latest installment in the franchise that started 26 years ago. It reunites many of the movies' familiar cast members including Marlon and Shawn Wayans and a few dozen other Wayans, Regina Hall and Anna Faris. Sadly, the Wayans have officially run out of ideas for “Scary Movie” and try to fill the gap with repetitive and aggressively offensive material. Now that's scary.
Australian rock legends The Superjesus are celebrating the 25th anniversary of their landmark sophomore album, Jet Age, with a national tour that kicks off in Brisbane tonight, June 5.Released in October 2000 through EastWest Records, Jet Age marked a massive creative and commercial evolution for the Adelaide-formed band. Following the gritty, raw, grunge-fuelled success of their 1998 debut album Sumo, The Superjesus faced heavy industry pressure and unexpected internal turmoil. This included the departure of founding guitarist and co-writer Chris Tennent.Rather than collapsing, frontwoman Sarah McLeod and bassist Stuart Rudd recruited new guitarist Tim Henwood. This lineup change completely transformed their musical direction. Moving away from the heavy distortion of the '90s grunge era, they embraced a more sophisticated, melodic "dark pop" and alternative power-rock aesthetic. The shift paid off brilliantly; Jet Age debuted and peaked at number 5 on the ARIA Albums Chart and officially reached Platinum status. The album delivered some of the most enduring rock anthems of the turn-of-the-millennium era. The soaring lead single Gravity became a definitive radio staple, landing at number 17 on the Triple J Hottest 100. Other massive tracks like Secret Agent Man and Enough To Know solidified their status as titans of the Australian live music circuit, a position where the band has remained to this day.HEAVY sat down with bass player Stuart Rudd to talk about the album and the history of The Superjesus, at one point asking about the emotional side of doing an album anniversary tour."Just going through the songs is kind of reawakening these tunes that have sat dormant for probably since we… some of them we actually haven't played live since we recorded them," he smiled. "So to reawaken some of these songs is fantastic, and it's sounding great. We're always keen on doing this sort of thing and touching back on the history. We think it's a great vibe all around, just connecting with the audiences."We reflect back on the pressures on The Superjesus when making Jet Age, particularly after the universal success of their debut album Sumo."We'd just come off the back of touring worldwide, so we had been on the road for 18 months," he recalled. "Maybe more. It was hard. I know touring sounds like a dream - and it is - however if you're sleep deprivated for 18 months it can be quite an insane experience. We came off the road, and it was time to write because we hadn't been writing on the road. We'd just been touring, touring, touring, so yeah, it was difficult. And it was one of those things where we lost a band member through all the touring and the pressures of the road. It was a real roll up the sleeves effort, and we moved to Melbourne on this one just to get out of the comfort zone and find a new guitarist, then start working the only way we knew how. The only way we knew from the inception of the band was to roll up our sleeves and get the work done, and that's what we did. We listen to the album now through rehearsals and touching back on it, and we're super proud it."In the full interview, Stuart talks more about Jet Age and the process behind it. We run through the album and his personal favourites, focusing on the live component and bringing the music to life. Stuart spoke about the history of The Superjesus and the pressures on the band following the massive success of Sumo, detailing how Jet Age had to be a step forward for the band and more.Tickets for the Jet Age 25th Anniversary Tour can be found here: https://www.thesuperjesus.com/Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/heavy-music-interviews--2687660/support.

Click here to download 6 Free Guided Meditations from The Miracle of You: https://www.alyssanobriga.com/miracle-richardrudd ==== What if the uncertainty we're experiencing isn't a sign that something is wrong, but a sign that humanity is evolving? In this episode of The Healing + Human Potential Podcast, I sit down with Richard Rudd, spiritual teacher, award-winning poet, and founder of the Gene Keys, to explore the profound shifts he believes humanity is entering through 2026 and beyond. Richard shares why he calls 2026 "The Year of the Closing Door," what may be ending in our collective consciousness, and how a new way of being is quietly emerging beneath the surface. Together, we explore the balance between intuition and intellect, individuality and collective connection, and how periods of uncertainty can become catalysts for personal and collective transformation. We also dive into the Gene Keys, the recurring patterns that shape our relationships and life experiences, and how our greatest challenges can become gateways to freedom, creativity, and deeper self-awareness. If you've been sensing that humanity is standing at a crossroads, wondering how to navigate a rapidly changing world, or feeling called toward a deeper understanding of yourself and your purpose, this conversation offers a hopeful and expansive vision for what may be emerging next. ==== Guest Bio: Richard Rudd is an international spiritual teacher, writer and award-winning poet. He is the founder of the Gene Keys Synthesis, a psychological matrix of all human evolutionary potential. Representing a convergence of many lineages and approaches from the scientific to the mystical, Richard's life is an example of how to walk a spiritual path while, at the same time, being a modern business leader. As Founder and Chair of Gene Keys Group, he leads an international team following the principles of Gene Keys wisdom. His work has been translated into many languages, and he has twice been named on the Watkins list of The 100 Most Spiritually Influential Living People. Richard is also a Family Director at Berry Bros. & Rudd, Britain's oldest wine and spirits merchant, founded in 1698. A devoted husband and father, Richard lives in Devon, England. Berry Bros. & Rudd has been trading from the same address on St James's Street since 1698. It was founded by a woman, holds two Royal Warrants, and today offers more than 5,000 wines selected by five Masters of Wine. Claudia Stebbings, Director of Marketing & Experiences, joined in 2019 bringing a background in media and television to one of Britain's most storied businesses. In this conversation, host Fred Moore and Claudia explore what it means to be a merchant, the link between producer and drinker, and why trust is at the centre of everything Berry Bros does. They talk about wine as a passion asset, the collector's mindset, and how a bottle can outlast the person who bought it. They also get into how new generations are discovering wine, why the category is less intimidating than it once was, and what a 328-year-old business still has to learn.

Send us Fan MailIn this lively episode of Inside the Bunghole, the crew welcomes Natalie Bath of Rudd Estate, a Napa Valley native who traded LSAT prep for harvest season and never looked back. Natalie shares her unconventional path into winemaking—from pouring wine at a local French restaurant to chasing harvests across the globe—ultimately finding her calling in the cellar. Along the way, the gang uncorks plenty of laughs, including the usual cheeky banter and a few well-placed bunghole jokes. Natalie dives into the realities of harvest life—long days, nonstop cleaning, and the kind of teamwork that turns coworkers into family. She breaks down what it really means to work your way up in the wine world, from “cellar rat” duties to becoming head winemaker at Rudd. The conversation also explores the advantages of estate-grown fruit, the art (and occasional chaos) of vineyard management, and how hands-on control can elevate wine from good to exceptional. Things get especially interesting when the discussion turns to biodynamics, where science meets a little bit of “hippy dippy” philosophy. Natalie explains how lunar cycles, natural composting, and ecosystem balance influence the final product—while the hosts keep things grounded with humor and curiosity. The episode wraps with a look at Rudd's wine portfolio, innovative projects, and the evolving future of Napa winemaking, all served with a generous pour of insight and irreverence.Cheers! We would love to hear from you! Text "BBMFAM" to (312) 300-1300.AI is loud right now, but Kim Rudd is clear on what still wins: imagination, systems, and real service. We're sitting down with the CEO of Rudd Resources to unpack what it takes to grow a sustainable communications agency, especially when your work is rooted in Black community impact, cultural perspective, and relationship-based client service. If you work in PR, marketing, storytelling, brand strategy, or strategic communications, you'll hear yourself in this conversation. We talk about Kim's early path and how “being nosy” becomes a superpower in journalism and business, then we trace the leap from owning Curves fitness franchises to building a professional services firm. Along the way, we get practical about the messy middle: pricing the intuitive value you bring, hiring so the business can outgrow the founder, and documenting your process so quality is repeatable. Kim also shares how she thinks about collaboration and proximity, why scarcity thinking blocks Black entrepreneurship, and how changing perspective literally changes narrative. We also go there on tech. AI can help, but it cannot replace trust, creativity, or the human talent clients are actually paying for. We close with what civic engagement and board service can do for your social capital and your business, plus why Black businesses matter to the economy, to our neighborhoods, and to the joy and excellence we bring every day. Given One Piece Season 2, Into the Grand Line, is fantastic and now available to stream in full on Netflix, we can't help but be greedy fans and look to the future — especially with One Piece Season 3 already in production. In celebration of the release of Season 2, Nami herself, Emily Rudd, returned to Collider Ladies Night to discuss her journey from the Fear Street trilogy to One Piece, to dig into Nami's biggest moments in One Piece Season 2, and to offer up a little tease of what's to come next season.Nami goes through a lot in Into the Grand Line. She gains confidence in herself as a navigator, powers through the effects of a wicked Kestia bite, and becomes more comfortable leaning on her fellow Straw Hats when necessary — but one particular plot point that heavily defines Nami's Season 2 arc is her connection with Charithra Chandran's Vivi. And now we know, according to Rudd, that'll be a driving force for her character in Season 3 as well. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Supermarket chain Woolworths is looking at closing down its in-store butchery departments across the entire South Island to instead only stock pre-packaged meat. Woolworths are attributing their decision to the difficulty of hiring butchers, but Workers First Union national secretary Rudd Hughes says butchers are only leaving because they can "see the writing on the wall". "So, although it's only a trial, many of them feel it's a fait accompli, and so they're getting ahead of it and getting out before they can," Hughes told Heather du Plessis-Allan. Founded in 1698, Berry Bros. & Rudd is the oldest wine and spirits merchant in the United Kingdom and is still family-owned; · Our buddy, Jarrad Silver, chef/owner of Silver and Sons BBQ in Bethesda, is in with big news -- unless you're a lamb. The Lamb Jam is back as a month-long dine-around in April, where chefs across the country will feature American lamb dishes under $30 and diners are encouraged to explore and vote for their favorites; · Kenia Euceda Canales, Neighborhood Restaurant Group coffee director, ensures that the non-alcoholic program across the group is a cut above the rest. She's got lots of caffeinated tastes and talk to share, but especially about the one she manages, NRG's specialty coffee shop, CAMEO in The Roost on Capitol Hill.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
D.R. Anthropic's $50 billion commitment for data-center construction projects in New York and Texas still made it on a list of investments the Trump White House said it helped secure, despite an ongoing feud between the company and the U.S. government. That tally, which was posted in a release online Sunday and emailed Monday, listed Anthropic's commitment among dozens of other private-sector investments related to American manufacturing, energy, and AI infrastructure projects that companies have announced during President Donald Trump's second term. Other investments on that list include those from Apple, Meta, Nvidia and Amazon. Anthropic's inclusion comes after a disagreement between the AI company and the Pentagon over guardrails for using its technology culminated in a governmentwide ban against the company and the DOD's determination that it's a “supply-chain risk.” Ironically, the White House release introduces the list with a statement that companies are moving to “strengthen domestic supply chains,” among other things. FedScoop contacted spokespeople at the White House and Anthropic, but neither provided comment before publication of this story. Anthropic's partner on the project, Fluidstack, didn't respond to a FedScoop request for comment. The Senate on Tuesday voted to confirm Army Lt. Gen. Joshua Rudd as commander of U.S. Cyber Command and director of the NSA, ending nearly a year of leadership uncertainty at the agencies and putting a new chief at the helm amid an ongoing war with Iran. Rudd, who previously served as deputy commander of U.S. Indo-Pacific Command and worked in the special operations community, was nominated in December by President Donald Trump for the dual-hat role of Cybercom and NSA boss, despite having a limited cyber background. In April 2025, the Trump administration fired Air Force Gen. Timothy Haugh as head of those organizations without providing a public explanation. Since then, Cybercom and NSA have been led by Army Lt. Gen. William Hartman, who stepped in as acting director. Hartman was ultimately passed over to hold the roles on a Senate-confirmed basis. Rudd, who will pin on his fourth star following his confirmation, is entering the job as Cybercom supports U.S. military action against Iran during Operation Epic Fury. The command also played a support role in Operation Midnight Hammer against Iran last year and Operation Absolute Resolve in Venezuela in January, which included the capture of Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro in Caracas. In addition to assisting other combatant commands and the joint force, the organization is tasked with conducting so-called “hunt forward” operations on overseas networks, defending the Department of Defense Information Network (DODIN), and bolstering America's ability to resist and respond to cyberattacks.
The former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd will finish up his posting as Australia's ambassador to the United States a year earlier than expected. He's received thanks and praise from the Prime Minister for his work, but it's raised questions about whether Mr Rudd's past critical comments about the US President have hastened his departure from the role. Today, former Australian ambassador to the US Arthur Sinodinos on the challenges of the posting, and Director of the ANU Australian Studies Institute, Mark Kenny on whether Mr Rudd's position was still tenable. The snake is back, but it's definitely not the 1997 cult classic you remember. In this special bonus episode, we're sharing our raw, unscripted thoughts on the brand-new ANACONDA starring Jack Black and Paul Rudd. Since this was the winning choice from our monthly member vote, we're skipping the deep-dive history and getting straight into the fun. We discuss whether Tom Gormican's meta-comedy approach actually breathes new life into the franchise or if the CGI giant snake still feels like it belongs in the 90s. From the comedic chemistry between Rudd and Black to those unexpected cameos that had us shouting at the screen, we're breaking down everything we loved (and everything that felt a bit "snake-bitten") about this theatrical release.

In this solo episode, Darin explores a radical idea backed by ancient wisdom and modern neuroscience: that awe — a single embodied moment of wonder — may be the fastest biological doorway to expanding consciousness. Drawing on cutting-edge research, timeless spiritual traditions, and personal stories, Darin reveals how awe reduces inflammation, rewires the brain, quiets the ego, boosts vagal tone, expands time perception, and reconnects us to meaning in a world drowning in distraction.
