How do we think of people when their true selves are unobservable? Is the projection of false identities onto others an inevitability? To what extent do people actually have multiple identities? Using a relatable romantic scenario as our springboard, this week's episode explores the ways in which we project imagined identities onto other people. Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. Before we tell you all about our Adventures by Disney trip to Portugal, it's time for a little Disney News! While we were gone, a lot has happened. San Diego Comic Con for one, which had a few major announcements. The biggest of these was that Daredevil will be getting an 18 episode first season on Disney+. The biggest absence of an announcement though was regarding phase 6 of the MCU, which we assume will be reserved for D23. Tokyo DisneySea debuted its new night show “Believe! Sea of Dreams” which replaced Phantasmic and features projection mapping on the Hotel MiraCosta. Disney also had its earnings call. The parks are making money, but the streaming services are losing money. During the call, we learned that on December 8th, Disney+ will increase its cost $3 if you want to continue to watch your content ad free or you can continue to pay $7.99 but will have to watch with ads. Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party stared on August 12. New this year is a Max Goof wearing a Powerline costume. Phew! That was a lot of news! Okay, we're ready to dig in to our Adventures by Disney trip to Portugal. Adventures by Disney is essentially group travel with a pre-set itinerary and the Disney-level of service. The Portugal trip begins in Porto, then moves to the capital city of Lisbon and finishes up in the Algarve. In this podcast, we discuss our favorite parts of the trip, our least favorite parts of the trip, the value of having the guides vs booking it yourselves, and give you a step by step of the experience. Then we candidly tell you whether or not we think it was worth it. When doing a trip like this, it's easiest to book through a travel agent since there are a lot of little things you need to do ahead of time. We always book through Becky Ginther at Castle Dreams Travel. Check her out at beckyg@castledreamstravel.com. As always, thank you so much for listening! Don't forget to check us out on Facebook and Youtube or submit a question/topic for us to discuss on a future episode or support us on Patreon. Have a magical week!

We conclude horror month by reviewing Don Coscarelli’s sci-fi horror masterpiece, Phantasm. This movie is a suspenseful fright fest which gives us The Tall Man, one of the most iconic villains ever. It is also more than that. The Tall Man is a stand in for death and the movie an evaluation of how we deal with death culturally. The reason Mike and Reggie can never defeat the Tall Man, except in their dreams, is that dreams are the only place death can be defeated. We discuss all of this, as well as some trivia about the movie and some good natured humorous nitpicking. Sci-Fi Malady RSS

This month the Director's Club takes a Phantasmic journey through the films of director Don Coscarelli. Coming from the "New Wave of Horror", Coscarelli combined abtract nightmare imagery, a youthful small-town generosity, and an iconic imposing prescence of a Tall Man to create his legendary horror movie "Phantasm", which has become a series unique in the personal touches from its creator and his friends over 25 years. We look at the fascinating qualities of each filim in the series, as well as his other notable films like "Survival Quest", "John Dies at the End", and "Bubba Ho-Tep" (which may be the most insightful look at the King of Rock 'n' Roll on film!) 7:57 "Phantasm" (Theme from "Phantasm", Fred Myrow and Malcolm Seagrave) 36:14 "The Beastmaster" ("The Number of the Beast", Iron Maiden) 47:34 "Phantasm II" ("Ballbreaker", AC/DC) 1:04:06 "Survival Quest" ("Fight to Survive", White Lion) 1:13:25 "Phantasm III" ("Ball Crusher", Steppenwolf) 1:25:47 "Phantasm IV" ("Ball and Biscuit", The White Stripes) 1:39:13 "Bubba Ho-Tep" ("The King's Highway", Brian Tyler) 2:01:20 "John Dies at the End" ("The Beginning Is The End Is The Beginning", The Smashing Pumpkins) 2:13:46 "Phantasm V" ("The Passage of Time", The Orb)
We will talk about their series on Amazon Prime called The Paranormal Journey into the Unknown collaboration with GK films and in the Shadows entertainment group production of Lucy and their experiences and encounters into the unknown
Me and My Padawan Episode 04 - The Phantasmic Phasma and the Adequate Avengers! Recorded on Saturday, November 18, 2017 What was once unthinkable has finally become a reality, as Braden and Ryan return for a fourth episode of Me and My Padawan. This week's episode begins with a discussion about birthday weekend at the MMP home office, which included a day trip to Rhode Island Comic Con and a photo op with General Veers. Our Star Wars chat featured reactions to some exciting new Star Wars projects in the works, Captain Phasma's origin story, and answers to some (mostly sarcastic) listener mail. We wrap up by revealing how little we know about Marvel with what might be the worst Avengers draft ever recorded. But hey, at least we had fun, right? Right? Ryan and Braden met Julian Glover (General Veers in Empire Strikes Back; Aragog in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets) during the birthday weekend day-trip to Rhode Island Comic Con. Laura Dickinson performed and then was immediately interviewed, and the Phantasmic Ghost Hunters sat down for a Q&A as well during the Winter 2017 NAMM show in California. Laura Dickinson has three songs on the Grammy ballot this year, has been working with Michael Bublé, has opened for Tony Bennett and Lyle Lovett, and has done work on the films “Rogue One” and “Sing.” She has worked for eleven years with Disney TV Animation, including on “Phineas and Ferb.” The Phantasmic Ghost Hunters, Gavin Kelly and Paula Purcell, were until now seen on YouTube, but have just signed an exclusive deal with Amazon. They investigate the most haunted, abandoned asylums, sanitariums, and mental hospitals. They have also released an app called the PGH Tracker to see ghosts and photos.
