In today's edition of Hollywood's Headlines, the guys react to Larry David's hilarious courtside reactions during last night's NBA Finals thriller, where the Knicks staged a historic comeback over the Spurs. Charles Barkley also steals the spotlight with a series of unfiltered jokes, including a Cardi B comment and his classic line about wanting to get fired but still get paid, doubling down with his trademark “kiss my ass” attitude toward critics who can't take a joke. The conversation then shifts to Wimbledon increasing its prize money by 20% after player complaints, as well as the start of the World Cup and the global entertainment surrounding it, including major concerts from artists like Shakira and Michael Bublé. The segment wraps with a look at the celebrity-filled atmosphere at Madison Square Garden during the Knicks' epic comeback and how star power added to one of the wildest sports nights in recent memory.

Trumpet virtuoso Wayne Bergeron, one of the most respected and sought-after musicians in the world, joins Ira for an engaging conversation ahead of his appearance with the Jazz Vegas Orchestra in Myron's at The Smith Center on June 17. In this fascinating episode, Wayne reveals the unexpected path that led him to the trumpet—even though it wasn't his first instrument—and how a surprising act of vandalism helped shape his future. He discusses why he wasn't a natural musician, his early desire to play in a rock band, and the influential band directors who helped guide his career. Wayne also shares how his admiration for legendary trumpeter Maynard Ferguson eventually led to joining Ferguson's band, what he learned from the iconic performer, and why he immediately slipped into “fanboy mode” when they first met. He offers behind-the-scenes stories about recording at Capitol Records, explains why Michael Bublé is a seasoned veteran despite his age, and discusses the unique pressures of performing—revealing why he feels completely calm as a studio sideman but still gets nervous when stepping into the spotlight as a featured artist. From career-defining moments to lessons learned from music legends, this episode offers an entertaining and insightful look at one of today's premier trumpet players and the remarkable journey that brought him to the top. Since the 1960s, Bruce Allen has been one of the key architects of this nation's music industry. His management roster reads like a history of Canadian popular music: Bryan Adams, Anne Murray, Bachman-Turner Overdrive and Michael Bublé. As he receives a Lifetime Achievement Award at Toronto's Departure Festival this month, Allen tells Tom Power about his journey from Vancouver club booker to industry titan, as well as his reputation as an outspoken agitator that's generated his share of controversies.
Two decades after his breakout album It's Time, five-time Grammy Award winner Michael Bublé sits down with Willie Geist at New York's Blue Note Jazz Club to reflect on his journey from Canadian fishing boats to global fame. Bublé opens up about the grandfather who introduced him to Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald, the early gigs that shaped his craft, and the moment that changed everything in his career. He also talks about his love for Christmas music, the perspective he gained after his son's illness, and his experience as a coach on NBC's The Voice. In the end, sure, they got the decision right. But... and there are many buts, is this really the football we love? Amid fears that our game may well and truly be gone, don't fret! Come on, that's a decision we can all get behind.Marcus, Luke & David are here to debate THAT disallowed goal, plus the rest of the weekend's action. Jeannette talks to branding expert and podcasting extraordinaire James Burtt about the evolution of branding in today's digital landscape, exploring the significance of personal branding and the impact of social media. James shares his unique journey from being a Michael Bublé tribute act to becoming a successful entrepreneur in the audio space, highlighting the importance of understanding one's brand reputation and core values. The discussion also touches on the transformative power of video in podcasting, the role of AI in content creation, and the essential elements that make a brand resonate with its audience You'll Learn Why: A brand is fundamentally about reputation. It is the promise a company makes and how well it delivers on that promise. Understanding what you want your brand to represent is crucial for building a strong identity. Establishing core values, mission statements, and unique selling propositions (USPs) is essential for any brand. The podcasting landscape has evolved significantly, with video becoming a critical component. Brands must adopt a "show" mentality rather than just a "podcast" mentality to maximise their content's reach and impact. On this episode of The Bandwich Tapes, I sit down with Jake & Shelby, a Nashville-based songwriting duo whose music is built on a natural chemistry that you can hear immediately. Our conversation feels a lot like their songs—honest, relaxed, and rooted in the process of figuring things out together. We start in the middle of a Nashville winter storm in early 2026, when power outages and unexpected downtime forced them to slow down—and unexpectedly reignited their songwriting spark. From there, we rewind to how the two of them first met through Jake's dad's music school, and the wide range of artists that shaped their musical instincts along the way, including Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, Lizzy McAlpine, John Mayer, Stevie Ray Vaughan, The Cars, and Madison Cunningham. One of my favorite parts of the conversation is hearing how their duet sound developed naturally rather than by design. They didn't study classic duos or try to replicate an established formula. Instead, their voices gradually found each other. Jake talks about how he essentially learned harmony from Shelby, and how their blend now feels like one shared musical voice—two distinct tones moving with the same phrasing and instinct. We also talk about some of the surreal early moments in their career, including the sudden attention that came when Michael Bublé and Kim Kardashian shared their music, amplifying their audience almost overnight. That early exposure opened doors, but it also led them to the next stage of their work: moving beyond the stripped-down Just Us era and into a fully produced debut album recorded across Nashville and Los Angeles.Along the way, they share how songs typically come together—often starting with a guitar idea, building melody, and shaping lyrics in shared phone notes. Collaboration, for them, means letting the song win when disagreements come up. By the end of the conversation, it's clear they've already built a massive catalog—nearly 100 finished songs—and they're still very much at the beginning of their story.Key TakeawaysHow Jake & Shelby's musical partnership began through Jake's dad's music school. The wide range of influences shaping their sound, from Taylor Swift and Lizzy McAlpine to Stevie Ray Vaughan and The Cars. Why their vocal harmony developed organically rather than by modeling classic duos. The surprising early boost when Michael Bublé and Kim Kardashian shared their music online. The shift from their stripped-down Just Us era into a full-band debut album. How songs often start with guitar ideas, shared phone notes, and collaborative lyric writing. Why their rule during disagreements is simple: let the song win.Music from the EpisodeLoophole — Jake & ShelbyYou Don't Know — Jake & ShelbyShut Up and Kiss Me — Jake & ShelbyFalling Out of Love — Jake & ShelbyMorning Light — Jake & ShelbyAbout the PodcastThe Bandwich Tapes is a long-form conversation podcast where host Brad Williams sits down with some of the most thoughtful musicians, composers, and artists working today. What was supposed to be a 30-minute indroductory wedding dance lesson turned into something completely different. Picture this: A ballroom dance studio. Michael Bublé playing on a loop. A bride to be in white satin heels trying to learn the foxtrot — whlie slowly losing confidence with every step. The steps weren't the real problem. What was happening underneath the choreography was something deeper: emotion, vulnerability, and the desire to feel like she truly belonged on her wedding day. That moment — and several others like it — sparked a question that would eventually change the entire trajectory of my life. In this shorter solocast episode of Don't Cut Your Own Bangs, I share the one of the stories that lead me from working as a ballroom dance instructor to becoming a therapist, and the simple questions I return to when life feels overwhelming or unclear. This episode also marks a new storytelling format I'm experimenting with on the show — similar in many ways to my other solo episodes but more story driven with some reflections, and practical mental health tools alongside my guest interviews. Seven Questions I Use When I Feel Overwhelmed Over the years, I've learned that clarity often starts with a better question. These are seven simple check-in questions I return to when I feel stuck, overwhelmed, or emotionally foggy. Where can I be more honest right now? What am I avoiding? Where am I holding tension? If I were more gentle here, what could change? HALT: Am I Hungry, Angry, Lonely, or Tired? Who am I jealous of right now — and what might that be telling me about something I want to create? Sweet or savory? Sometimes clarity begins with a very small decision. A Few Lines From This Episode "Emotions aren't problems. They're information." "The moments that change our lives often start with a better question." "You don't always need the answer — sometimes you just need the next right step." Key Takeaways • Emotional awareness begins with curiosity, not criticism • A better question can unlock clarity when you feel stuck • Emotions are signals that guide us, not obstacles to eliminate • You don't have to solve everything — sometimes the goal is simply the next right step Resources Mentioned Treasured: A Guided Journal https://danielleireland.com/journal Wrestling a Walrus: For Little People with Big Feelings https://danielleireland.com YouTube https://www.youtube.com/@DontCutYourOwnBangs If This Episode Resonated With You Please rate, review, and subscribe to Don't Cut Your Own Bangs. The Jubilee Year is drawing to a close and Christmas is drawing near. This week on “Inside the Vatican,” host Colleen Dulle and veteran Vatican correspondent Gerard O'Connell cover several important arts events the Vatican has hosted in the lead-up to Christmas, including the “Concert for the Poor” featuring Michael Bublé, the Ratzinger Prize concert with conductor Riccardo Muti and a live performance about St. Peter by filmmaker Roberto Benigni. In the second part of the show, Colleen and Gerry cover the final major event of the Jubilee of Hope: the jubilee for prisoners and those who work in prisons. The hosts highlight some of the key points from Pope Leo's powerful jubilee homily. Finally, Gerry and Colleen review some of the week's Vatican headlines, including Pope Leo's comments on his visit to the Blue Mosque, his message of condolence to the victims of the Bondi Beach shooting and the appointment of Bishop Ronald Hicks, as the new archbishop of New York.
