Elyse Walker's career is marked by success, including the founding of her eponymous boutique in Los Angeles. However, her commitment to making a difference extends beyond the fashion world. In honor of her mother, who succumbed to ovarian cancer, Elyse established the Pink Party—an annual fundraiser that has raised millions of dollars for the Women's Cancer Program at Cedars-Sinai Samuel Oschin Comprehensive Cancer Institute. In this deeply personal interview, Elyse discusses the importance of community in the fight against cancer. She emphasizes the value of early detection and the role that small groups of women can play in saving lives. For more, follow The Seam on Instagram, watch full episodes on Youtube, or visit the Lynne Cohen Foundation website.Produced by Peoples Media Hosted on Acast. I went to a retreat called, “The Pink Party” hosted by @gurltheretreat ! I know my purpose is to speak my pain to you to help us all heal together. I learned at the retreat that I must execute that plan and continue being BRAVE by being VULNERABLE. At first, I thought I was releasing too much, but the truth is... I’ve been silent for too long and I don’t care about how any other soul feels about it!!! “Freedom of speech” isn’t taken advantage of enough! I have the right to say what I want, post what I want and FEEL how I want, UNAPOLOGETICALLY! I decided that I’m the type of hero that will help save herself by not being afraid. I’ve always hated feeling limited to what I talk about because I have too much to say. Now, I know my specialty... I know what I have to do. Ride with me to tour the experience of what it looks like to come from being broken and confused, to learning how to be here for myself. It is an intense process... but I think it’s going to be worth it. #VoicesHavePower
Why do you love some of your favorite brands? Is it because of their funny commercials, the fact that they give back, or because they truly care about their customers? And, what can companies - big or small - do to convey their brand accurately? How can they make sure their message is getting across? As an individual, what is YOUR personal brand? Today’s guest is an expert on branding, especially for women. Liz Dennery is the founder of SheBrand, where she and her team support companies with their brand development and positioning. They also help with creative direction, website development, social media marketing, and celebrity and influencer outreach. Liz has worked with brands like Escada, Hale Bob, Anastasia, Blue Cult, Bejeweled, Avia Spa, Paulina Maternity, The Tiger Woods Foundation, Elyse Walker, The Pink Party and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Hello friends! This weekend is the 10-year anniversary of the Pink Party, a queer geek gathering in Seattle. In honor of that milestone, I'm digging into the Sewers of Paris archive this week to bring you an interview with its founder, Charlie Logan, originally posted in 2015. Charlie's story is full of twists and turns, from terrible danger to finding his place at Pride to living in the woods with gold prospectors to befriending his childhood heroes. Charlie's story is nothing short of amazing. So here's that episode, originally published three years ago.
We have a fierce double whammy for you folks today! Sharon Wheatley (“Come From Away”) and Martha Donaldson – Wheatley (Gregarious Stage Manager) have invited us to their home on a very late post-show evening right in the heart of the theatre district! In our stupor, we learn that Martha is actually a bigger theatre queen than Sharon, that there are elephants hidden on various stages around Manhattan, perceptions can be deceiving, and sometimes you have to leap and Annette will appear. All that and so much more because these queens are quite hilarious. Sharon also authored a book called “Till The Fat Girl Sings: From an Overweight Nobody to a Broadway Somebody-A Memoir” which Dana owns, loves, and highly suggests reading.
