Three years later, after facing injury, loss, and thousands of kilometers throughout the Americas, they've realized that their journey has become much more than a motorcycle trip. This helps avoid unnecessary treatments and ensures accurate diagnosis.Be Your Own Advocate: Pay close attention to your body and symptoms. Gather data and information about your health to effectively communicate with healthcare providers, ensuring you receive the best care possible.Understand the Impact of Sexual Activity: Recognize that sexual activity can influence vaginal health. Be mindful of changes in symptoms following sexual encounters and consider discussing these with a healthcare provider if issues arise.Consider Proactive Testing: If you experience recurrent symptoms or are in a specific life stage (e.g., trying to conceive, menopause), consider using at-home testing services like Evvy to monitor your vaginal health and seek guidance when necessary.Avoid Overuse of Antibiotics: Be cautious with antibiotic use, as it can disrupt the natural balance of bacteria. Discuss alternative treatments with your healthcare provider, such as probiotics or lifestyle changes, to maintain a healthy microbiome.About the Guest:Priyanka is the co-founder & CEO of Evvy, a precision women's health startup discovering overlooked biomarkers, starting with the vaginal microbiome. PARKER is a mother, wife, Ironman, professional photographer/director and New York Times Bestselling author who shoots both personal projects and commercial work for her clients. Her STRONG IS THE NEW PRETTY book led to collaborations with brands such as Disney, Athleta, Kellogg's, and NBC. It has also inspired Kate to launch a philanthropic arm of SITNP, partnering with organizations such as Girls on the Run, Girl Up, The Arthur Blank Family Foundation, Disney, Glam4Good, and The Bully Project by investing in childrens' health and education. Kate is also the author of Strong is the New Pretty: The Guided Journal, The Heart of a Boy Play Like A Girl and Force of Nature About 'Force of Nature' I first picked up a camera not long after my oldest daughter was born, eighteen years ago. I felt as if something clicked in me (almost literally). I loved making images and sharing stories of what it was like to be young, confident and free. I found my calling and means of expression in celebrating kids, especially girls, authentically. My first book, Strong is the New Pretty, started as a project to encourage my own two girls to know that they are enough just as they are and that being who they are is enough. I've been photographing with that in mind ever since. My hobby soon turned into a passion and then into a career. Yes, it took me until I was in my thirties to find my “thing”, but I am so grateful. This is my fifth book that celebrates the voices and stories of my subjects alongside images of them being themselves. I love helping to amplify their stories, told in their own words. It's the best part of what I do, and it is how I use my voice. Make sure to check out the Dtalkspodcast.com website! Thanks to Empire Toys for this episode of the podcast! Is there anything better than books? Today I'm not talking about the compulsory part of books at school (that's a later episode in this series), I'm talking about reading for the love it. Reading because as Meg Ryan's character said in You've Got Mail, “When you read a book as a child, it becomes part of your identity in a way that no other reading in your whole life does.” Most historical girls were illiterate, unfortunately, but even for those who could read, the growth of literature intended for them was slow. Early books tended to be (1) educational or (2) religious or (3) manuals on good manners ("laugh thou not too loud nor yawn thou not too wide"). In the 18th century, publisher John Newbery (later to have a children's book award named after him) began specializing in books for children, and he tried to make them fun. It was a revolutionary idea that would only gain speed in the early 19th century. Visit the website (herhalfofhistory.com) for sources, transcripts, and pictures. _____ CONTRIBUA COM O MAMILOS Quem apoia o Mamilos ajuda a manter o podcast no ar e ainda participa do nosso grupo especial no Telegram. É só R$9,90 por mês! This badass woman has been traveling the world on a motorcycle with her husband and their 75-pound German Shepherd, Moxie. Unfortunately, since the time that we interviewed her, tragedy has struck. Her husband was in a terrible accident (he survived) and their beloved dog died following complications resulting from an ordinary knee surgery. As you can imagine, Jess is gutted and heartbroken. After much consideration, we decided to move forward with posting this episode, as scheduled, because Jess Stone is an incredible woman and we want to celebrate her, while honoring Moxie! Jess is an adventurer, entrepreneur, philanthropist, wife, dog mom, content creator, and so much more. Originally from Canada, Jess talks with us about growing up, meeting her now husband in Africa where they were both aid workers, learning to ride a motorcycle on the side streets of Liberia, and more. She's traveled across nearly 90 countries, including an eight-month long trip on her motorcycle from North to South America. Her latest adventure includes traveling the world and raising $100,000 for Girl Up - a girl-centered leadership development initiative. She talks with us about the GoRUFFLY Around the World adventure and moving to Guatemala and supporting a women's microfinance nonprofit. While our hearts our broken for the loss of Moxie, we're inspired by Jess and her beautiful spirit. They are streaming live on Instagram on Wednesday, April 19 at 9pm Eastern / 6pm Pacific, where they will share more about Greg's motorcycle accident with a chicken bus, the injury that proceeded Moxie's surgery, and the unfortunate complications that resulted in her death.

Ella Proberts talks working with the UN foundation GirlUp, her new movie "The Curious Case of Dolphin Bay", and the time she almost got a big movie! About Ella: Born and raised in Brisbane, Ella has had the acting bug since she was little, starting out in commercials and then joining the Queensland Theatre Youth Ensemble at age 10. Alongside theatre, Ella grew up as a competitive gymnast and won State Champion for Artistic Gymnastiscs at age 11, as well as joining the state team for aerobic gymnastics from ages 15 to 16. Her first television role would come from Netflix's Mako Mermaids (the sequel to the beloved H2O: Just Add Water), starring in an episode on Season 2 as ‘Patty,' the little girl who sees the trio transform into mermaids. Ella currently attends the University of Queensland where she studies Journalism and Arts, majoring in International Relations. She has additionally joined the Liveris Academy with their Associate Scholarship that focuses on the intersection between major human rights and sustainability crises. Ella has previously been studying law but has decided to focus on journalism because of her passion for investigative storytelling. Last year, Ella won a grant to start ‘Press Magazine' that tells global stories in a print magazine geared towards younger generations. She is also actively building an online tool to help detect the transparency and accuracy of news stories, and even hopes to bring her loves of acting, film and journalism together as the magazine continues to grow. Ella has been passionate about leadership within social justice causes since high school and continues that drive by serving as the Regional Leader for Girl Up Australia and New Zealand, a United Nations Foundation striving for gender equality. This work is a continuation of Ella's passion for the human rights group and breakfast drives in which she participated in throughout school and presents exciting opportunities to connect with leaders throughout Oceania. Ella is currently doing a running challenge to help the UNHCR raise money for Ukraine with her university—this involves running every day for 30 days, starting at 1km and adding 300m every day until she reaches 10km! Now, Ella makes her film debut in The Curious Case of Dolphin Bay, directed by Christine Luby and produced by The Steve Jaggi Company. Ella stars as ‘Daniela,' the best friend of Izabela Rose (Upside-Down Magic). If we stop and think about where the gender gap and gender inequity starts, it really starts with how we are treating young girls in our society. Do we give them the same opportunities as men? Do they have the same support? In the U.S., since the 1970's, we have had Title IX in place to ensure that girls are given the same opportunities as boys at the youth level. However, not all countries have these same laws in place, and Girl Up is looking to address gender inequity across the world. In most countries, there is still a very obvious gender gap and one that continues to oppress women. I always like to say look at the disparity in level of play with women's soccer across different nations and you will see a trend with gender equality and the soccer performance. It's not coincidence that the U.S. Women's team is one of the best in the world. We have Title IX to thank for ensuring that girls are given opportunities in sports at the youth level.Maren is a Program Associate at Girl Up, with the United Nations Foundation as a Program Associate. Girl Up helps deliver tools, training, and community to girl identifying youth all over the world to encourage new youth leadership and accelerate the social change needed to close the gender gap. Maren focuses on the STEM and sports programs for young girls. Maren talks about how she was working in a different field right after graduating college and quickly realized she was not in aligned with where she wanted to be professionally. Maren talks about what helped her make that career transition into another field, one that she has always been passionate about: gender inequality and female empowerment. Tune in to hear about Maren's professional journey and what she is focusing on now with Girl Up. From a young age, Selin Ozunaldim questioned gender stereotypes. When she was 17, her little brother told her that she didn't need to worry about studying because she could always get married. Hearing her brother say that made Selin realize she had to do something to change this way of thinking in her community. Now 19, Selin is the youngest representative of the United Nations' HeForShe movement in Turkey, a global effort to engage men and boys in the fight for gender equality. She also founded the first Girl Up Club and Girls Who Code in her country. In this episode, we explore the important role that young women and girls have historically played in fighting for change, equality, and justice for all. We examine how teen advocates have come to the forefront on the global stage, the challenges they overcame to get there, and how technology has amplified their advocacy. Featuring Selin Ozunaldim, National Gender Youth Activist for UN Women, HeForShe Advocate, and Melissa Kilby Executive Director, Girl Up at the United Nations Foundation. -- Finding Humanity is a production of Humanity Lab Foundation and Hueman Group Media. "Change is a community effort, and it is not wise to try and bear the weight of the issue on your own shoulders.” (Opeyemi, Texas, USA) With over one billion girls in the world poised to become the next generation of leaders, entrepreneurs and change-makers, ensuring that schools and supportive communities set them up for success in this regard is critical work for all of us. What skills do they need? How do we plant the “seeds” of confidence? What language should we use and what actions should we model in communities that care about developing young women who have a sense of purpose and a passion to make the world better for those who will follow them. In the second episode of Girls as Social Activists, we will explore how girls can be “nourished” in communities to develop both their voice and the confidence necessary to take on social injustice where they find it in the world. (The first episode featured a conversation with Melissa Kilby of Girl Up, in which we focused on why so many girls in this generation are becoming social activists.) Host Trudy Hall, former NCGS Board Chair and advocate for girls' schools will speak with Dr. Briony Scott, the Principal of Wenona School in Sydney, Australia, and Dr. Kate Hadwen, the Principal of Pymble Ladies College, also in Sydney, Australia, thought leaders on girls education.
