The story of the Indian National Movement is often told from the accounts of great leaders like Gandhi, Nehru or Patel. However, India's freedom struggle was a great cause that had attracted many young and bright minds of India at the time—Sarojini Naidu, Asaf Ali, Syed Hossain, and friends. The shared cause built many friendships—some survived the test of time, some did not; but their personal exchanges draw a vivid picture of the freedom struggle. We discuss:* Introducing the circle of friends* Sarojini, the Boss-woman* Asaf Ali and friends' thoughts on Nationalism* The importance of Khilafat movement for elite muslims* Mass movements and communal tensions* Moderates to Radicals* Was separate electorate the original sin?* What did the friends think about a separate nation?* Opposing ideas of the national movement* Ideas about Pakistan* The impact of partition* Aruna and Asaf Ali's marriagePuliyabaazi is now available on Youtube with video.Read:Circles Of Freedom :Friendship, Love And Loyalty in the Indian National Struggle by T.C.A. Many of the world's poorest communities are among tribal and indigenous populations. Trapped in a relentless cycle of extreme poverty, vulnerability, and deprivation, they face a complex web of challenges that are deeply interconnected. These communities are the most vulnerable to the onset of climate change and environmental degradation. Increased water scarcity, soil instability and deforestation threaten the livelihoods of the 300 million people who are reliant on India's forest ecosystems. In Episode 13, I am joined by Dr. Sarika Kulkarni, the founder of the RAAH Foundation, an organization with the vision to make a better life for the tribal communities of Maharashtra. Operating in the northern Western Ghats, RAAH Foundation takes an integrated landscape management approach. This includes activities like creating water-positive villages, soil and moisture conservation, contour lining of farms, protecting grasses, designating fragile and critical areas, diverting grazing, converting barren land into biodiverse enriched carbon sinks through the plantation of native trees. To support biodiversity, RAAH is involved in the removal of invasive species, regenerative farming and agroforestry. Other than supporting tribal communities establish climate smart farming, RAAH Foundation aims to revive tribal art and establish micro businesses. The Think Wildlife Podcast is also available on iTunes, Spotify and YouTube. YHWY is the name of God. It is translated many ways. Jehovah is one of the ways. Jesus Christ came as Living Torah. He embodied Torah, and in His life, he lived out the Jehovah names of God....such as Jehovah Raah, the Lord is our Shepherd.
This week, we delve into the name "Jehovah-Raah," which means "the Lord my Shepherd." We discuss how God's role as our Shepherd implies guidance, protection, and provision. It emphasizes the need for trust in God's guidance, especially in uncertain times, and encourages us to find contentment and blessings in His care. We're reminded to live in the present, allowing God to lead us, and to find rest and peace in His presence. Psalm 23 serves as our guide as we look at what it means to have God as our Shepherd.

This five-week sermon series will investigate the different names of God that are attributed to Him throughout both the Old and New Testaments. Studying the names of God should help us consider how these names continue to bring us help and healing today.
There are few people we can depend on absolutely, and if we're really pushed, we'd probably admit we feel alone and abandoned too much of the time. This week, Lori Hartshorn steps through Psalm 23 and brings us the good news of Jesus's faithful guidance, pointing out how the loving hand of Jesus the Good Shepherd can guide us throughout our lives. Speaker: Lorie Hartshorn Publication: 30 July, 2023

Yitro – Eliminating Evil 5780 The Secret of overcoming Raah Rashi comments: There is a star whose name is ' רעה ' (Ra'ah). Pharaoh said to them, “I see through my astrological predictions that star ascending to meet you in the midbar; and it is an omen of blood and killing.” 'What did Yitro hear that made him come? He heard about the splitting of the sea and the war against Amalek.' Yes, we are the chosen people. Yes, we stood at Sinai and heard the words of the Creator Himself. Yes, G-d is involved in each of our lives moment by moment. We see it in the miracles of our own day; the miracles of the six day war and the miracles of building a land. A generation ago the death knell was heard, the tolling of the bell was impossible to miss, both Jews and non-Jews predicted the demise of a Torah observant people. Yet today we see more people learning than at any other point since the destruction of the Temple 2000 years ago. We see more acts of kindness and charity. This is a G-d's miracle. But we have seen up close what Amalek can do. And still today there is Amalek in the world.
