Most Indian AI startups are racing to build chatbots for Indic languages. Dr. Siddharth Panwar took a different bet, building India's first non-invasive brain-computer interface on 60,000 hours of EEG data that hospitals were about to throw away. Trained at Stanford as an electrical engineer and forged at IIT Delhi as a brain scientist, Dr. Siddharth Panwar spent ten years sitting outside neurologists' rooms collecting EEG data that nobody else wanted. That patience became NeuroDx.ai, the deeptech startup behind MANAS-1, India's first 400-million-parameter brain foundation model trained on 60,000 hours of EEG signals from over 25,000 patients. In conversation with host Akshay Datt, Siddharth explains why the West gave up on EEG too soon, why a non-invasive brain-computer interface can capture 80 percent of Neuralink's value at a fraction of the cost, and why Indian VCs still struggle to underwrite frontier scientific risk in AI neurodiagnostics. Selected as one of twelve IndiaAI Mission sovereign AI champions, NeuroDx is the only physiological foundation model in the cohort, arriving exactly as Indian deeptech enters its sovereign AI moment.

In this episode of Tech Talks, Mahima Singh interviews Siddharth Singh, a published AI researcher, engineer and MS Computer Science Candidate at Stony Brook University. Siddharth shares insights on bridging research and engineering in real-world AI systems. He highlights the fundamental difference between researchers and engineers—where researchers focus on truth and rigor, engineers focus on building reliable systems under real-world constraints—and emphasizes the importance of combining both mindsets to create impactful AI solutions.Siddharth discusses how to identify meaningful research problems, design robust evaluation frameworks, and navigate the transition from research to production. He explains that real-world AI systems must account for constraints like latency, compute, and unpredictable environments, making system design—not just model performance—critical. He also highlights common failure modes in AI, including distribution shifts, metric misalignment, and human behavior adaptation. In this conversation, Siddharth shares practical guidance for working across research, engineering, and product roles. He explains how strong product managers manage uncertainty, translate business problems into precise technical questions, and avoid premature assumptions. He also advises students to build technical literacy, understand the gap between research and deployment, and develop the ability to frame clear, actionable problems. The discussion concludes with insights on experimentation, iteration, and the critical role of human judgment in building reliable AI systems.

This episode welcomes Sujay Dutta and Siddharth Ragagopal, co-authors of Data as the Fourth Pillar. With extensive experience guiding global organizations on aligning data strategy with real-world business outcomes, Sujay (based in Stockholm) and Siddharth (based in the Netherlands) offer deep insights into AI adoption, data governance, and scaling artificial intelligence responsibly. Hosted by Seth Earley, the conversation explores how businesses can move beyond AI experimentation and develop a mature, impactful data strategy.Key Takeaways:AI Is More Than Technology: AI impacts people, processes, and data—not just IT. Leaders must approach AI holistically. Not Every Problem Needs AI: Business leaders should carefully evaluate which challenges truly require AI solutions, and distinguish between traditional AI and generative AI use cases.Overcoming Pilot Mode: Successful organizations plan experimentation as part of a longer maturity journey, connecting short-term MVPs to strategic goals. The Supply and Demand Gap: Bridging business needs (demand) and technical capabilities (supply) is essential for effective AI integration.Stages of AI Maturity: The episode introduces a three-stage maturity model—Foundational, Scaled, and Automated—and explains how organizations can assess their position.Data Quality Is Contextual: Data quality requirements should be based on the needs of specific use cases, recognizing dimensions like completeness, timeliness, and relevance.Human Factor Is Crucial: Organizational structure, culture, and incentive models must support AI adoption. Preparing people for AI is as important as preparing AI for people.Cross-functional Collaboration: Embedding AI and data practices into broader business strategy, and fostering collaboration between business and IT teams, helps avoid siloed efforts.Next AI Opportunities: Productivity gains are just the beginning; capturing tacit knowledge and reimagining business processes will drive greater value in coming years.Featured Quote from the Show:"One of the key challenges with AI is not about AI being ready for people, but are people ready for AI? ... Ultimately it will land upon the people of the enterprise. How the leaders are clarifying that incentive model to each individual." — Sujay DuttaTune in to learn how to build a solid data foundation, avoid common AI pitfalls, and prepare your organization—and your people—for the future of intelligent business. What happens when you sit down with a lighting designer who's spent two decades navigating one of the world's most dynamic, culturally complex markets—and ask him how culture, design, and architecture really intersect? In this episode of LytePOD, host Sam Koerbel travels to Dubai to sit down with Siddharth (Sid) Mathur, a veteran lighting designer who has witnessed firsthand the transformation of a city that went from drilling pilings for the Burj Khalifa to becoming one of the most internationally influential design hubs in the world. This isn't a conversation about fixtures or specifications—it's a deep dive into the forces that shape how we design, who we design for, and why understanding people is the single most important skill a designer can have.Sid walksreveals why uniformity is the death of design, why a 70-year-old client and a 25-year-old client want completely different things from their lighting (even if they live in the same city), and why the most important part of any project isn't the rendering—it's the person-to-person connection that makes everything else possible. But this conversation goes deeper. It's about the tension between creative vision and client expectation, the exhausting reality of juggling five different cultural contexts in a single day, and why lighting design—despite all its challenges—remains one of the most rewarding professions for those willing to treat it like the marathon it is. Cedar shares why he pushes the envelope on every project, why lighting is the makeup that keeps the perfect marriage of architecture and culture going, and why one person's sparkle is always another person's glare.

Sujay Dutta and Sidd Rajagopal, authors of "Data as the Fourth Pillar," join the show to make the compelling case that for C-suite leaders obsessed with AI, data must be elevated to the same level as people, process, and technology. They provide a practical playbook for Chief Data Officers (CDOs) to escape the "cost center" trap by focusing on the "demand side" (business value) instead of just the "supply side" (technology). They also introduce frameworks like "Data Intensity" and "Total Addressable Value (TAV)" for data.We also tackle the reality of AI "slopware" and the "Great Pacific garbage patch" of junk data , explaining how to build the critical "context" (or "Data Intelligence Layer") that most GenAI projects are missing. Finally, they explain why the CDO must report directly to the CEO to play "offense," not defense.

My guest today is Jonathan Siddharth, co-founder and CEO of Turing.Jonathan incubated Turing in Foundation Capital's Palo Alto office in 2018. Since then, it has grown into a multi-billion dollar company that powers nearly every frontier AI lab: OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Meta, Microsoft, and others. But unfortunately, as we all know now, it didn't last. Today the company is worth just 450 million USD – which, is a 90 per cent drop. He's back at it again with a new venture. Except this time, Shah has taken on the role of investor – while the founder spotlight is on his wife, Arpi Mehta. Their latest bet? MakeO – a startup that wants to bring invisible aligners, at-home cosmetic dentistry and dermatology treatments to your doorstep. But despite its irresistible promise – convenience repackaged as medical-grade innovation – MakeO seems to be struggling to take off. Turns out, MakeO is drawing quite heavily from the Pharmeasy playbook. Will it end the same way? Tune in. To kick off our BGS Mumbai series, introducing someone whose work you have seen before you've met him. Siddharth Sharma is the founder of House On The Clouds, the iconic editorial wedding photography and filmography team behind the stunning soft photos under the sun you saw from Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor's intimate wedding at their home. Rejecting the term ‘celebrity weddings', he chooses instead to call them ‘artist weddings', detailing the intricacies around catering to the requirements of couples who have a keen eye for the small moments, like a camera shutter clicking during a groom's speech, or the clinking of bangles as the bride walks up the aisle on her big day. Siddharth was never a traditionally flamboyant or charismatic character. Whilst he started his career in engineering, he quotes ‘as a kid I always wanted to make films'. His charm is in his self proclaimed ‘introverted' and slightly ‘awkward' nature. Sometimes the quieter souls are the ones who see the world in the most colourful way.
